Wilmer Ball
ROANOKE -- Wilmer Ball, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, in a Salem hospital.
He was a graduate of Honaker High School.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He retired after 40 years service from Graybar Electric as Manager at Roanoke and Bristol locations.
He was a charter member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and served as deacon.
He was a member of Melrose Masonic Lodge No. 139 AF&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Wilson Ball; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ball, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Rick (Kay Ball) Hillyard, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Sue Ball Kiser, Honaker, Lora Gay Ball Lee, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Oakey's Funeral Service, Roanoke, is in charge.

Ray D. Botts
DAMASCUS -- Ray D. Botts, 72, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was a native of Washington County, Va., and had lived in Baltimore, Md., for 33 years before moving back to Washington County in 1991.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was a firefighter.
He retired from the civil service working as a guard at both Ft. Meade and Ft. Hollbird, Md.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby I. Botts; two daughters, Mary McBride, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Carolyn Popp, Laurel, Md.; one granddaughter, Veronica A. McBride, Cedar Rapids.
Johnson Funeral home, Damascus, is in charge.

Harry P. Brady
ABINGDON -- Harry Perry Brady, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Middlesboro, Ky., and had lived in Washington County since 1976.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, a coal miner and had retired from the General Services Administration.
He was a member of the Soul's Harbor Apostolic Church in Bristol.
He was a member of the American Legion and the U.M.W.A.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Dove Brady; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara K. Waters and Mrs. Sandra G. Marvin, both of Abingdon; one brother, Lee Brady, Elmherst, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Edith Smith, Burna, Ky., Mrs. Marilyn Thomasson, Dolton, Ill., and Krya Beech, Warrensville, N. C.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is in charge.

Robert B. Carter
CERES -- Robert Buchanan Bob Carter, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, at his home.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a lover of horse trading.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Pratt Carter; four sons, Raymond Carter, Piney Flats, Bobby Carter, Sammy Carter and Don Carter, all of Ceres; four daughters Betty Tibbs, Saltville, Lois Keesee, Marion, Daisy Boyd, Florida, and Faye Buchanan, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, Fred Carter, Saltville; one sister, Mary Virginia Wilson, Marion; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The D. R. Henderson Funeral Home, Saltville, is in charge.

Walter J. Cowan
KOKOMO, Ind. -- Walter Jefferson Cowan, 70, of 5110 Ojibway Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1197, in Howard Community Hospital, Kokomo.
He was a native of Wise County.
He was employed at Krogers in Kokomo until he retired in 1985. He had umpired and played Indiana softball and baseball games for years, and was the manager of Hank's Thrifty Mart Softball Team and Moore's Masonry Softball Team.
He had played semi-pro baseball in the New York Yankee Organization in 1946 and 1947.
He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Oakford Baptist Church and the Indiana Sheriff's Association.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie Mae Bowen; four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Phyllis) Welch, Mrs. Tom (Sharon) Huffman and Sondra Kemper, all of Kokomo, and Mrs. Rex (Wanda) Johnson, Russiaville, Ind.; two sons, Walter Steven "Steve" Cowan, Kokomo, Kevin Cowan, Russiaville; one brother, James Harrison Jr., Bristol, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Fenn and Shirley Funeral Mortuaries, Kokomo, is in charge.

Virgie R. Crusenberry
Virgie Ruth Crusenberry, 73, of Bristol, Virginia, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was the widow of David Joe Crusenberry.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a housewife.
Survivors include one sister, Minnie Michael, Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, Gene Chapman, Piney Flats; one niece, Virginia Yocum; and several other nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

S.L. Fulks
S.L. "Bud" Fulks, 81, of 1921 Weaver Pike, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and was a retired heavy equipment mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Fulks; three daughters, Mrs. James (Wanda) Dowell and Mrs. Wayne (Janice) Barker, both of Bristol, Tennessee, and Mrs. Cecil (Deborah) Berry, Blountville; three sons, Danny Fulks, Bristol, Tennessee, Kenneth Fulks and Larry Fulks, both of Nashville; one sister, Georgia Rogers, Morristown, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Raymond Keith
COEBURN -- Raymond Keith, 78, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, in Dickenson County Medical Center, Clintwood.
He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He attended the Old Regular Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Mullins Keith.
Survivors include a son, Richard Keith, Clintwood; three daughters, Trudy Kelley, Clintwood, Diane Elam, Wise, and Connie Pennington, Coeburn; five sisters, Reba Kelly and Leota Viers, both of Wise, Ruby Ring, Coeburn, Lucille Skeen, Baltimore, Md. and Joann Bond, Hampton, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

E. Leon Kiser
E. Leon Kiser, 65, of 315 Hill Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997, in Wellmont Hospice House.
He was a native of Russell County, Va., and had lived in Bristol since 1957.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a life member of the VFW.
He was the owner//operator of Kiser Supply Inc. which he founded in 1976.
He was a member of the three Tri-Cities Homebuilders Associations.
He performed and promoted Blue Grass music in the area and was instrumental in organizing the Country Music Foundation.
He attended Rush Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Rasnake Kiser; two daughters, Tammy C. Kiser and Jennifer Kiser Harkleroad, both of Bluff City; one son, Gregory Leon Kiser, Bluff City; one sister, Edith Wockenfuss, Clermont, Fla.; four granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.

Margaret M. McCloud
DECATUR, Ala. -- Margaret Marie Meade McCloud, 73, of 1311 First Avenue, S.W., died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, at her home.
She was the widow of Bernard McCloud.
Survivors include one daughter, Christine Hoskins, Decatur; two brothers, James Meade, Louisiana, and June Meade, Saltville; three sisters, Phyllis Thomas, Blountville, Agnes Johnson, Bristol, Virginia, and Lillian Stidham, Newton, N.C.; and two granddaughters.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge.
