Gertrude M. Jackson 60
A funeral for Gertrude M. Jackson, 60, of King George Countywas held Thursday at noon at Little Ark Baptist Church, Owens. The Rev. Ben Jones officiated and the Rev. Harry Wallace gave the eulogy. Burial is in Peoples' Union Baptist Church Cemetery, King George.
Mrs. Jackson died Friday, July 7, 2000, at her residence of an apparent heart attack.
She worked as a substitute custodian in the King George public school system and was a member of People's Union Baptist Church, where she was a member of the usher board.
Survivors include her husband, Randolph Jackson; two sons, James E. Jackson of Washington and Randolph W. Jackson of Columbia, Md.; her mother, Clara Johnson of King George; six sisters, Ruth Lucas of Washington, Hazel Bushrod of Capital Heights, Md., Helen Ashton and Esther Green, both of Upper Marlboro, Md.; Carolyn Pollard of King George and Ellen Johnson of Mitchellville, Md.; and three brothers, Ralph Johnson of Landover, Md., the Rev. Lawrence Johnson of Silver Spring, Md., and Stanley Johnson of King George.

Grace Baldwin Comley 69
Grace Baldwin Comley, 69, of King George County died at her residence Saturday, July 29, 2000, from complications of multiple sclerosis.
Born in Washington, Mrs. Comley had retired as an operator for the C&P Telephone Company.
Survivors include her husband, George R. Comley; three daughters, Reita M. Richmond, Peggy A. Nunez and June I. Lewis; two sisters, Jean Groves and Ann Johnson; a brother, George Wadlington; and three grandchildren.
Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, handled the funeral arrangements, which will be private.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mary Washington Hospice, 2217 Princess Anne St., Suite 002-1, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

Harold Cox 86
Harold Wilson Cox, 86, of Fairview Beach died Monday, July 31, 2000, at his home.
Born in Stafford County, Mr. Cox had retired from Farmers Creamery after 24 years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Fredericksburg and the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was the widower of Gaynell Cox.
Survivors include a sister, Pearl Harris of Fredericksburg; a brother, Sidney Cox of Alexandria; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Sylvia May Osborne.
A graveside service was held Thursday, Aug. 4, 2000, in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Elwood Campbell officiated.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to First Christian Church, 1501 Washington Ave., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

James Matthew "Mac" Hungerford 83 years
James Matthew "Mac" Hungerford, 83, of Westmoreland County died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Hungerford was educated in Westmoreland public schools and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lerty. He later became a member of Siloam Baptist Church, Montross.
Survivors include two sons, Gary D. Hungerford of Colonial Beach, with whom he made his home; and James M. Rollins of Alexandria; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral was held Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Siloam Baptist Church. The Rev. Clarence Long officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
Berry O.Waddy Funeral Home, Lancaster, handled the arrangements.

James Robert Flannery 42
James Robert Flannery, 42, pf Colonial Beach died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Flannery, born in Youngtown, Ohio, was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Campbell, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Chatham Flannery; a son, Cory Franklin Robert Flannery of the home; his parents, Robert P. and Joanne B. Flannery of Warren, Ohio; two sisters, Sherrie F. Varga of Struthers, Ohio, and Jackie F. Brown of New Middleton, Ohio; and a brother, John Robert Flannery of Niles, Ohio.
A funeral was held Monday, Aug. 1, 2000, at Carmel United Methodist Church at Kinsale. The Rev. Ron Jones officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443; or to Edgewater United Methodist Church, c/o Ethel Daiger, 149 Cardinal Drive, Montross, Va. 22520.

Joe Hollick 60
Joseph William "Joe" Hollick, 60, of King George County died Monday, July 17, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Hollick formerly was a machinist with Alfa-Laval Co. in Warminster, Pa. He volunteered at Mary Washington Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Wallace Hollick of Hartwood in Stafford County and William Brian Hollick of Pine Plains, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Historyland Memorial Park in King George.
Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in KIng George handled the arrangements.
The family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Salvation Army, 821 Lafayette Blud., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

John Elvin Morgan 38
John Elvin Morgan, 38, of King George County died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
A Fairfax resident, Mr. Morgan was an auto parts delivery driver for Inside Auto Parts in Mineral. He was a member of Indian Acres Club of Thornburg and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fredericksburg.
His survivors include his wife, Peggy E.R. Morgan; his mother, Margie Keens of King George; a stepfather, Robert Keens of Manassas; two brothers, Ronnie Morgan of Winchester and Dave Morgan of King George; and two nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held today(Wednesday, July 26) at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in King George. The Rev. Steve Siegrist officiated and burial was in the Jackson family cemetery in Oak Grove.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mary Washington Hospital, 1001 Sam Perry Blvd., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

Kate Virginia Staples 76
Kate Virginia Staples, 76, of King George County died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in King George, Mrs. Staples was a member of Montague Baptist Church there and was the widow of Henry R. Staples.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda White and Doris Madison, both of King George, Diana Grewe of Camp Hill, Pa., and Betty Staples of Corbin; a son, William F. "Buck" Staples of Caroline County; a sister, Nettie Frank of King George; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Monday, Aug. 7, at Montague Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Brooks officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

LaVerne R. Plowman 82
LaVerne R. Plowman, 82, of Colonial Beach died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Plowman, born in York, Pa., had retired as a physical therapist in Fairfax.
He was a 1952 graduate of St. Louis University and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was also a professional musician, having played the clarinet and saxophone.
He was the widower of Olga Elizabeth Plowman.
Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Lunceford of King George County; two sisters, Marion V. Roach and Doris Jean Tufaroal, both of PA.; a brother, Harold R. Plowman of AZ.; two grandchildren; and six nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mary Washington Hospice, 2217 Princess Anne St., Suite 002-1, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401; or to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.

Leslie Sanford 79
Leslie M. Sanford, 79, of Ruther Glen in Caroline County died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond.
Born in Westmoreland County, Mr. Sanford had retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy after 28 years. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietname War.
Survivors include his wife, Aleeyne Sanford; a daughter, Betty Ostergren of Mechanicsville; a son, Leslie M. Sanford Jr. of King George County; a brother, John H. Sanford of Montross; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late William H. Sanford and Stuart A. Sanford.
A graveside service with military honors was held Sunday, Aug. 5, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church cemetery in Ruther Glen.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Bowling Green Rescue Squad, Box 621, Bowling Green, Va. 22427; or to the Frog Level Rescue Squad, 29415 Richmond Turnpike, Ruther Glen, Va. 22546.
Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, handled the arrangements.

Lewis Kenneth Thompson 76 years
Lewis Kenneth Thompson, 76, of Montross, died Saturday, June 24, at his home. Born in Westmoreland, Mr. Thompson had retired as a forklift operator at Montross Lumber Company. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and Westmoreland Mason Lodge 212.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby B. Thompson; a daughter, Edna Mae Thompson of Montross; a son, Lewis M. Thompson, of Alamogordo, N.M.; three sisters, Bernice Rutherford and Annie Wilson, both of Philadelphia, Va., and Irene H. Thompson of Glassboro, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral was held July 1 at Siloam Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clarence Long officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery. Weldon-Fisher Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
