LEO PAUL POISSANT

BURLINGTON/ALBURG -- Leo Paul Poissant, 91, a resident of Burlington's South end for nearly 25 years and a native of the Alburg area died early Sunday morning, March 3, 2002, in the Birchwood Terrace Health Care Center.

Leo was born in Champlain, N.Y., Aug. 14, 1910, the son of the late Edmund and Josephine (Reille) Poissant. He was married to the former Gladys Smith who survives him.

In earlier years Leo was associated with the Rutland Railroad and more recently and until retirement worked as a toll collector for the Rouses Point Bridge Commission. He was a veteran of WWII faithfully serving his country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Amadeus Parish in Alburg and while living in Burlington belonged to St. Anthony's Parish in the cities south end.

In addition to his wife, Gladys of Burlington and a sister-in-law, Olga Hamann of Newport Richey, Fla. Leo leaves several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 7, 2002, at 10 a.m. from St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Alburg Village. The pastor, Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Poissant family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home of Swanton, Vermont.

AUGUSTINE TRAVIS "TEENIE" ALOIA

ENSLEY, Ala. -- Augustine Travis "Teenie" Aloia, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at age 91.

Mr. Aloia, a self-employed photographer, drummer and a veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII, was a member of the Ensley Methodist Church, a long time member of the Rotary Club and was bestowed the honor of Paul Harris Fellow for his service.

Mr. Aloia had a keen interest in the world and an artistic eye in which to capture it. As a devoted and loving father, he wholeheartedly supported and encouraged his family in all their various endeavors and delighted in their many milestones. He was deliberate both in his responsibilities and in his humor and his legacy will be cherished by those who mourn his passing.

Mr. Aloia is survived by his daughter Patsy Hendrickson of Enosburg Falls and son Richard Aloia of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four grandchildren, John and James Aloia of Santa Rosa, Calif., Victor Hendrickson of New York, N.Y., and Burleigh Hendrickson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; sisters Evelyn Scott and Virginia Browne; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in Birmingham, Ala. on Feb. 28, 2002. Memorial contributions may be made to the Educational Foundation of the Shades Valley Rotary Club, PO Box 530701, Birmingham, Alabama, 35253-0701

RUPERT N. LAMPMAN

FRANKLIN/ALBURG CENTER -- Mr. Rupert N. Lampman, 90, recently a resident of Center Bay Road in Alburg Center died early Monday morning, March 4, 2002, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.

Mr. Lampman was born in St. Albans, Nov. 27, 1911, the son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Marquette) Lampman. He was a member of the last class to graduate from the former St. Albans High School and on Sept. 14, 1935 was married to the former Wilma Towle, R.N., who survives him.

Mr. Lampman lived most of his working life in St. Albans where he was associated as a purchasing agent for the Union Carbide Corporation, retiring in 1971. Prior to his association with Union Carbide he worked ten years for the Central Vermont Railroad. Following retirement Mr. And Mrs. Lampman moved to Florida where they resided for 23 years, returning to the Homestead Residence in Franklin, in 1999. They recently have made their home with their son and daughter-in-law, Chester and Beverly Lampman in Alburg Center.

Mr. Lampman was longtime member of the B.P.O.E #1566 in St. Albans and served as Past Exalted Ruler and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler.

In addition to his wife Wilma of 65 years, he leaves two sons and their wives, Chester and Beverly Lampman of Alburg Center and Richard and Barbara Lampman of Chesterfield, Mo.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard Jr. and Betty Lampman of Colchester and Robert and Martha Lampman of Louisville, Ky. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Margaret Monahan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. from the Franklin United Church. The pastor, Reverend Michael Long will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in the South Franklin Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Gifts in Mr. Lampman's memory may be made to the, Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, Saint Albans 05478 or to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester 05446.

ELIZABETH MAY 'BETTY' BOUDREAU

HIGHGATE CENTER -- Mrs. Elizabeth May 'Betty' Boudreau, 70, a lifelong Franklin County resident passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2002, at her Lamkin Street home.

Betty was a homemaker and mother who loved to cook and in earlier years was associated with several St. Albans restaurants as a waitress and bartender including The Brown Jug, Therrien's Restaurant, The Cornerstone and Ryan's. She also enjoyed playing cards and won the International Cribbage Tournament in 1980. After moving to Highgate in 1962 she became a member of St. Louis Parish and was the founder of the church building fund. Betty was also a member of the Highgate Chapter of TOPS #78, which she founded in 1980. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne from St. Louis Parish and the Franklin County Senior Citizens in St. Albans. She collected roosters and cookbooks as a hobby.

She was born in Pumpkin Village in Fairfield on June 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude (Greenwood) Sears. She attended schools throughout the state and on June 3, 1950, married Armand J. Boudreau who survives her.

In addition to her husband Armand, Mrs. Boudreau leaves two sons, James A. Boudreau and Aubrey L Boudreau and his wife Dawn all of Highgate; and one brother, Edmund Sears and his wife Leah of Enosburg. Also surviving are six very special grandchildren, Timothy, Mia, Tyler, Christopher and Adrian Boudreau and Donna Gabree; as well as two great-grandsons, Cody Banister and Kalob Gabree. She also leaves a daughter-in-law Liz Boudreau of Alburg; special nieces and nephews, Donna Cavanaugh of Kyser, Oregon, Hubert and Craig Dumas, Arlene and Valerie Tatro and Cheryl Steber.

Mrs. Boudreau was predeceased by a son Timothy on July 28, 1982; and a sister, Isabelle Stien on May 15, 1993.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. Father Jean Paul Laplante, Pastor Emeritus will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Boudreau family lot in St. Louis Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, Tuesday, March 5, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Mrs. Boudreau's memory may be made as Mass Offerings or to the American Diabetes Association, Vermont Affiliate, 77 Hegeman Ave., Colchester 05446 or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville, Maryland 20852.

SALLY KING WALKER

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Sally King Walker, age 63, died Saturday afternoon, March 2, 2002, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care. She was born in St. Albans, Aug. 26, 1938, daughter of Morton I. King, Sr. and the late Alydia (Sartwell) King.

She was a former employee of the food service department of St. Albans Hospital. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army for many years. Sally was an avid bingo player and spent many hours crocheting. She enjoyed fishing with her family. Sally had to have her Pepsi with her constantly.

Nov. 7, 1957, she married Francis Walker. Besides her husband of over 44 years, she is survived by their two sons Francis E. Walker, Jr., and Morton I. Walker. Her survivors also include her father Morton I. King, Sr. of St. Albans; five sisters Betty Potvin of Worchester, Mass., Norma and her husband Roland Oliver, Barbara and her husband Thomas Carpentier and Joyce Giroux, all of St. Albans, Earlene and her husband Frederick Demar of Fairfax; two brothers and their wives, Wendell and Holly King of St. Albans, Michael and Cheryl King of East Highgate; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Tracy Lynn Walker in 1970; her mother Alydia King, June 16, 2001; her brother Morton I. "Sonny" King, Jr. on Feb. 18, 2002; and by two brothers-in-law Charles Potvin and Raymond Giroux; and her nephew Charles Potvin, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St. from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening. Interment will be next spring in the Walker family lot in Greenwood Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Heart Association, Box 485, Williston, Vt. 05495. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

FLORENCE GUAY BACHAND

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Florence Guay Bachand, age 90, died Saturday morning, March 2, 2002, in the Birchwood Terrace Healthcare, following an extended illness.

She was born in St. Albans Oct. 25, 1911, and was the last surviving child of Adelord and Angeline (Breault) Guay. June 6, 1932, she married Harold Bachand and after celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary Harold died Oct. 10, 1997.

She was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. She and Harold were founding members of the Holy Angels Formal Choir and she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne for over 50 years. Florence was a member of the Franklin County Senior Citizens, the St. Jean de Baptiste Societe and had been a den mother for the Cub Scouts.

She was an oil paint artist, having sold many works of art and will be remembered for her skills in the culinary arts. Florence loved her family and took great pleasure in doing for them.

Florence is survived by her six children and their spouses Janet and Raymond Chadwick of Lake Wales, Fla., Ronald and Renee Bachand of Swanton, David Bachand of St. Albans, Gerald and Virginia Bachand of Swanton, Constance and Robert Mahaney of St. Albans, Christine and James Pignona of Poipu, Hawaii; a sister-in-law Bernadette Butler of Swanton; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her grandson Steven Chadwick; siblings Doris McNally, Lorraine Chicoine, Donald Guay, J. Armand Guay, Leonard Guay and Edmund Guay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. from 7 to 9 Wednesday evening. Interment will be in the Bachand family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Vermont Alzheimers Chapter, Box 1139, Montpelier, Vt. 05601. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

BETTY ANN JANE ROIG

FAIRFAX -- Betty Ann Jane Roig age 61, a life long resident of Fairfax died Friday, March 1, 2002, at her home on Carrol Hill Road. She was born on May 7, 1940, in Fairfax daughter of the late Simon and Bertha (Pooler) Roig.

She was predeceased by her life long companion of 31 years Arthur North in 1996. Betty worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for many years at both Hicks Commission Sales in Morrisville and Richards Auction Gallery in Stowe. She also worked for Fornier's Auction in Swanton for many years. Betty's love of animals has made her a special kind of person in the community. She took in stray animals and kept them as her family and loved them as such. Her donkeys were an important part of the nativity scene in Taylor Park, St. Albans for many years.

Betty leaves many friends and neighbors who were like family to her, Ernest and Louise Covi and family, Maurice and Judy Reynolds, Maryanne Mason and Carolyn Boomhower, all of Fairfield; Michael and Elaine Williamson and family, Sally and Phil Gilmore, Cyndi Boucher, Roland Webb, Colleen Edson, all of St. Albans; Michael Boucher, Norman and Jackie Benoit, Stephen and Elenor Belansky, Marcia Courtois, Bruce and Sharon Patterson all of Fairfax; James and Gloria Warden of Shelburne; two sisters, Peggy Devarney and her husband Ernest and their daughter Connie, Bessie Mossey and her husband Larry and their son Robbie.

Visiting hours will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Monday, March 4, 2002, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Northside Baptist Church, 1321 Fairfax Road, St. Albans at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, with Pastor Bruce Patterson and Pastor Joe Zorn co-officiating. Burial will follow in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery, Jeffersonville. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the American Cancer Society-New England Division, 11 Loomis St., Montpelier, Vt. 05602. Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax.

HUBERT R. LUSSIER

BEEBE -- Mr. Hubert R. Lussier, 81, of Beebe, died March 1, 2002, in Newport. He was born June 22, 1920, in Beebe a son of Joel and Mary Louise (Boileau) Lussier. On June 23, 1945, he married Julienne Couture who predeceased him in 1998.

Mr. Lussier was a Methods and Processing Engineer for Union Butterfields for 46 years. Among his hobbies he enjoyed reading and he was a fan of the Montreal Canadians. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line where he was a choir director for many years.

He and his late wife also enjoyed many years in Lantana, Fla. He is survived by two children, Therese Heitzman and her husband Steven of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert Lussier and his wife Suzanne of St. Albans; four grandchildren, Robbie Lussier of St. Albans, Joel Winship of Cincinnati, Ohio, Matthew Winship and Heather Heitzman of Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Bertha Roy of Lake Placid, Fla., Beatrice Lussier of Newport, Martha Lussier of Stanstead, Que., Sr. Therese Lussier of Leonxville, Que. and Sr. Jeanne D'arc Lussier of Quebec City; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters: Rene, Paul, Irene, Florence, Anita, and Germaine.

Friends called from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, at the Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport. Funeral services were to be held Monday (today), March 4, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line with the Rev. Yvon Royer celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Spring interment will be in St. Edward's Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Edward's Catholic Church, Derby Line, Vt. 05830. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Curtis-Britch & Converse-Rushford Funeral Homes, locally family owned and operated.
