KATHRYN H. BRESSETTE

PUNTA GORDA, Fla./ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Kathryn Holland Bressette, age 93, died Monday, April 1, 2002, in Punta Gorda, Fla. She was born in St. Albans April 23, 1908, daughter of the late Timothy and Mary (Sheehan) Holland. She was a former resident of Wayland, Mass. and East Providence, R.I., prior to moving to Punta Gorda in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in St. Albans and Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda.

Her survivors include her daughter Judith K. Alves of Punta Gorda; her son J. David Bressette of Newbury, S.C.; three granddaughters Lynne Alves of Miami, Fla., Karen Alley of Fort Myers, Fla. and Kara Bressette of Newbury, S.C.; a grandson, Mark Bressette of Newbury, S.C.; three great-grandchildren Alexandra, Ciara and Austin Alley, all of Fort Myers, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, in the Brady & Levesque Chapel, 86 South Main St., St. Albans. Interment will be held, following the funeral, in the Holland/Bressette family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

RODNEY KENT GAYLOR

ST. ALBANS/INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Rodney Kent Gaylor, age 67, formerly of St. Albans, died April 12, 2002, in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.

Rodney was a field service engineer for Beckman Instruments for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He also served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and was stationed at the St. Albans Air Force Base, 764th Squadron, from 1954 to 1955. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Ind.

Rodney was a graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass., and also of the Phoenix Technical School in Phoenix, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife, Susan J. Larow Gaylor; daughters Lori Sue King and Lynne Ann Krutilek; sons Laird Kent Gaylor and Craig Alan Gaylor; brother, Larry "Butch" Gaylor; brothers-in-law Larry Larrow and Peggy, Dale Larow and Heather; and nine grandchildren. A son-in-law Janice Larow predeceased Rodney.

Cards and letters should be sent to Susan J. Gaylor, 2756 Lakeshire Lane, Indianapolis, Ind., 46268.

Memorials and contributions may be sent in Rodney's memory to the American Heart Association or the Indianapolis Humane Society, 7429 North Michigan Road, Dept. 12, Indianapolis, Ind. 46268.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Flanner & Buchanan Zionsville Mortuary.

The funeral service was held on April 17, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Chapel in Indianapolis, Ind. with Dr. George Tooze officiating. The calling hour was one hour prior to the service on April 17. Interment followed in the Zionsville Cemetery in Zionsville, Ind.

MARY C. BENOURE

ST. ALBANS/SWANTON - Mrs. Mary Campbell Benoure, age 75, died Thursday evening, May 16, 2002, in the Holiday House and Franklin County Rehab Center, with her loving family at her side.

Mary was born in St. Albans, July 11, 1926, daughter of the late Hibbard and Mable (Bashaw) Campbell. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.

Mary was an accountant at the Franklin-Lamoille Bank and at the offices of Guay and Grassett Accountants. Later she operated a bookkeeping service from her home.

She was married to Walter H. Benoure on Aug. 8, 1953.

Mary is survived by her daughter Ruth Ann and her husband Jeffrey Cross; her three grandchildren, Matthew, Adam and Nichole Cross, all of St. Albans; her sister-in-law, Doreen Campbell; three nieces, Janice and her husband Keith Cullen, Mary Campbell, and Karen Campbell; three nephews and their wives, Trevor and Lorri, Todd and Reid, Scott and Rachael Campbell; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Walter, on Feb. 20, 1996, her son, Thomas Benoure on Jan. 11, 1994, and her brother H. Keith Campbell on Feb. 20, 1999.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., from 7 to 9 Sunday evening. Interment will be in the Campbell family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Masses for the continued remembrance of Walter, Thomas, Keith and Mary, or to The American Diabetes Association, 77 Hegeman Ave., Colchester, Vt., 05446. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

JOYCE ELEANOR MARTEL DOUCAS

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- Joyce E. Martel Doucas, 64 of Cooperstown, N.Y. passed away Jan. 9, 2002, at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City, Fla.

Joyce was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Richford, to Joseph Edward Martel and Augustine Hurtubise Donlon Martel. She was a 1955 graduate of Richford High School and attended the Jeanne Manse School of Nursing before relocating to Florida with her mother.

On Oct. 4, 1963, she married Constantine "Gus" Doucas in Miami, Fla. They were married 38 wonderful years during which they bore three children and ran two successful businesses: Whisperin' Pines Trailer Park in Grassy Key, Fla. and Whisperin' Pines Chalet Bed & Breakfast in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Joyce is lovingly remembered for her beautiful singing voice, her graciousness and generosity, her sense of humor, her fantastic cooking ability, her sense of style and for always being a lady.

As the last of several children, Joyce was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Lawrence Seguin, John Martel, Levi Martel, Albert "Pit" Martel and Martin Donlon; her sisters, Annette Seguin, Genevive "Minette" Martel Jacobs and Gertrude Martel Landry.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Gus; her son, Noel Doucas and wife Heather of Orange City, Fla.; daughter, Nicole Swanson and husband Charles of Milton; son, Christain and wife Erin of Cooperstown, N.Y.; brother, Lawrence M. "Buster" Donlon of Enosburg; sister, Beatrice Donlon Hoffman of Boca Raton, Fla. and three grandchildren, Nicholaas Doucas, Kirk Doucas and Eleanor

Swanson.

A graveside burial will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2002, at 4 p.m. at the All Saints Cemetery in Richford, Vt. Arrangements are by the Spears Funeral Home. A dinner will be held in her honor at the Crossings in Richford following the service.

A. DAVID VALLEY

SWANTON/ANNANDALE, Va. -- A. David Valley, born in Burlington on Nov. 10, 1948, passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2002. He is the son of Alfred D. and M. Jeanette Ashley Valley of Swanton.

He is survived by his wife Lucy Antone Valley of Annandale, Va.; also his sister Michelle and her husband Ronald Tenaglia of Fairborn, Ohio. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Swanton High School, served in the U.S. Air Force, and retired from the Office of Personnel Management.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 25, 2002, at 2 p.m. from the chapel at St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte. The shrine director, Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Music will be under the direction of soloist, Maurice Gauthier and organist, Carol Pellerin. The family will receive relatives and friends at a reception in the shrine dining area immediately following the liturgy.

BERNARD H. PELKEY

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Bernard H. Pelkey, age 77, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center. He was born the son of the late Michael A. and Lillian (Lawyer) Pelkey. He married Barbara Squires in 1948, and she predeceased him Nov. 21, 1996.

Bernard was a dairy farmer on his own farms, and in his later years he worked for City Feed & Lumber, Co. and retired around 1980 from Building Home Center in Milton. Bernard also served with the Merchant Marines.

He is survived by his son, Jerry, and his wife, Sue Pelkey; a grandson, Corey Pelkey; a sister, Shirley Luman, all of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sister Eleanor Pelkey.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of his family. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

WILMA OWENS (RAAP) BAKER

ST. ALBANS - Wilma Owens (Raap) Baker, 77, of St. Albans, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care facility in Burlington.

Born in Waterbury, Conn. on Feb. 27, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Raap and Blanche (Wurtenburg) Raap.

Mrs. Baker was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, Class of 1942, and held a business degree from Stone College in New Haven, Conn. She retired from Lewis Engineering Co., in Naugatuck, Conn., in 1984. She moved to Bourne, Mass. in 1984 and to St. Albans, Vt. in 2001.

She was married for 54 years to husband, Robert W. Baker of St. Albans, who survives her.

She was a member of the Naugatuck Congregational Church of Christ, the North Falmouth Congregational Church, Sandwich Chapter 221 of the Order of Eastern Star and a charter member of the Friends of the Jonathan Bourne Public Library.

In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William R. and Christina Baker of St. Albans; grandchildren, Christopher Baker of Burlington and Jeremy Baker and his wife, Stacy, of Rutland; and one great-grandchild, Thomas Baker of Rutland.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, June 1, 2002, at 3 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourner Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard (Rte.28), Bourne, Mass. Rev. Charles Close will officiate. Burial is to be in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Baker's name may be made to the St. Albans Free Library, 11 Maiden Lane, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.
