MARIE ANGE PAQUETTE

FRANKLIN -- Marie Ange Paquette, age 88, died Tuesday morning, June 4, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 26, 1913, in Cowansville, P.Q. Canada, the daughter of the late Adelard and Octavie (Grenier) Patenaude.

She married Joseph Paquette on Sept. 20, 1932 and they were married for 68 years. They made their home in Berkshire and then moved to the Homestead in Franklin from 1993-2001, and the Carriage House in Franklin from 2001 to the present. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and sewing. She was a member of the Missisquoi Craft Guild for many years.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Doris and Clement Laroche of St. Albans, Maurice and Rosanna Paquette of Highgate Springs and Flaurette and Gabriel Godin of Berkshire; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Yvonne Letourneau and Jeanne Patenaude, both of Cowansville, Quebec; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Blanche Lessard of Richford, Lillian Paquette of St. Albans, Dorilla Larose of White River Jct., Henry and Margaret Paquette of Richford, Gerard and Therese Paquette of Richford, and Paul and Doris Paquette of Redhook, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many friends at the Homestead and Carriage House and special friends, Margaret and Don Heath and Jeannette Bosley. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Paquette on Nov. 15, 2000; a granddaughter Joanne Paquette in 1980; and a brother Leonidas Patenaude.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford. Friends and relatives may call on the family at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg the day of the funeral from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

PAUL H. WELLS

GEORGIA -- Paul H. Wells, 79, died peacefully at his home on Monday afternoon, June 3, 2002.

Paul was born in Milton on May 2, 1923, the son of Henry and Pearl (Sears) Wells.

He had worked for over 40 years at Fonda Container, retiring in 1986.

Paul had lived in Georgia for over 56 years.

He was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt. Paul had a great love for the lake, whether it be boating, fishing, or just relaxing by the shore.

Mr. Wells is survived by his children and their spouses, Carol Howrigan and her husband Francis of Westford, Ruth Casey and her husband David of Grand Isle, Marilyn Prevuznak and her husband Michael of Fairfax, and Duane Wells and his wife Darlene of Highgate; by his grandchildren, Michael Howrigan and Susan Bissonnette, Brad and Chris Holcomb, George, Karen and Chrissy Casey, Michelle Messier, Nichole and Amy Prevuznak and William Michael and Lindsay Wells; four great-grandchildren; by his brother Arthur Wells and his wife Rose of Milton; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Hunter and Elizabeth Ayer and his brother George Wells. He was also predeceased by his former wife, Dorothy Wells.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. in the Georgia Plains Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Georgia Plains Cemetery. Paul's family has requested that in lieu of flowers, "please" send donations to the Franklin County Home Health and Hospice, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Visiting hours will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

CATHERINE S. BOCASH

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Catherine Steady Bocash, age 85, died Sunday morning, June 2, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in Milton on Sept. 6, 1916, daughter of the late Burt and Florence (Wells) Steady.

She married Harold P. Bocash in 1946. Harold died in 1978.

She was the secretary for her husband in the Bocash Construction Company. Later, she was a child care provider in her home. She owned and operated the Trash and Treasure New and Used Store on Federal Street for many years. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. She also enjoyed going to auctions, garage sales, and having lawn sales with her husband.

Her survivors include her three children and their spouses Linda and Patrick Mahoney of Milton, Patricia Dion of St. Albans Bay, Sherry and Kelton Westcom of Bakersfield; a step-daughter Barbara Barney of Shrewsbury, Mass.; six grandchildren, Tammy Underwood, Vicki West, Jennifer Maestas, Elizabeth Stapels, and James and Danielle Westcom; five great-grandchildren; sisters Anita Judgins of Burlington, Patricia and Everett Shangraw of Essex; brothers Bernard and Theresa Steady of Grand Isle, Wayne Steady of North Hartford, Conn.; special friends, Leanne O'Conor and Kathy Curran; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by a step-son Frederick Bocash; a grandson James Barney; three brothers, Homer, Elvin and Alden Steady; and sister Barbara Langlois.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 Wednesday evening. Interment will be in the Bocash family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Franklin Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 182, Franklin, Vt. 05457, or to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

BARBARA L. HORSKIN

FRANKLIN -- Barbara L. Horskin, age 84, passed away Friday, May 31, 2002, at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans with her family at her side.

She was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Franklin, the daughter of the late A. Winslow and Hilda (Cross) Bowen.

She was a 1935 graduate of Franklin High School and was a member of the Franklin United Church and the Franklin United Methodist Women. Together with her husband Robert, they owned and operated a fine dairy farm until their retirement in 1985. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara was an excellent cook. Her family holds many wonderful memories of time spent in her kitchen and at her table. Her caring smile, quick laugh, and kind ways touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Gaylord Horskin of Franklin; two granddaughters, Amy Haraden, her husband Jonathan and their son Nathaniel, Sara Miller and her daughter Emily Gieselman all of Burlington; many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Howard Horskin. Barbara and Robert were married Sept. 18, 1937. She was also predeceased by her daughter Suzanne H. Miller and her son-in-law, Stephen L. Miller.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Franklin United Church with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Village Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

ELIZABETH C. FITZGERALD

GEORGIA/GROTON, Conn. -- Elizabeth C. Fitzgerald, age 94, died Friday afternoon, May 31, 2002, at her son's home in Georgia.

She was born April 4, 1908 in Carolina, R.I., the daughter of the late Alva Clark and Sarah (Eatough) Clark-Potter.

She made her home with her son in Georgia for the past year and a half and was a former resident of Connecticut most of her life. She was an avid traveler, reader and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Santoro of Groton, Conn.; three sons and their wives, Jack and Betty Lee Fitzgerald of Uvalde, Texas, Maurice and Mary Fitzgerald of Georgia, and Webb and Helen Prince of Cheshire, Conn.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Fitzgerald on Dec. 29, 1994, they were married Oct. 26, 1926; two sisters, Mable Greenberg and Elva Latondress; and one brother, Albert Potter.

A memorial Mass will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Albans with Reverend Maurice Roy celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden, Conn. There will be no visiting hours.

WILFRED ROBERT AUGER

HIGHGATE -- Wilfred Robert Auger, 71, a longtime Monument Road resident died Saturday morning, June 1, 2002, following a long illness.

He was born in Putnam, Conn., Aug. 12, 1930, the son of the late Leo and Germaine (Cote) Auger. He attended Massachusetts's schools and for many years worked as a master electrician for Digital of Massachusetts.

He faithfully served his country in the Korean Conflict with the United States Air Force and was assigned to the 4050th Operations Squadron stationed out of Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton and the American Legion in Massachusetts.

Mr. Auger is survived by his mother, Mrs. Germaine Augur of Springfield, Mass.; his daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Larry Yoder of Lakeland, Fla.; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mindy Auger of Springfield, Mass.; two sisters, and brothers-in-law, Ann and Sonny LaPlante of Holland, Mass., and Claire and Trinidad Alvarez of Springfield Mass.; one brother Rene Auger of Tucker, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Auger and Michael Yoder; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves his daughter by unofficial adoption and her husband with whom he made his home during the final weeks of his illness, Tammy and William Bushey and their children, Andrew, Lewis, Brandon and Haley Bushey all of Highgate.

He was predeceased by his father Leo Auger and by a sister Jeannette Millen in 1990.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, the director of St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte will officiate. Interment will take place later in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, Mass.

Gifts in Mr. Auger's memory may be made to the Swanton Veterans of Foreign Wars, Student Scholarship Fund, Charles DaPrato Post 778, 8 Merchants Row, Swanton, Vt. 05488.
