Raphael "Ras" Emilo
Middlebury, Vermont
Raphael "Ras" Joseph Emilo, 88, passed away with his family at his side on Saturday, January 1, 2000 in Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Burlington. He was born in Middlebury, Vermont on May 15, 1911, the son of Angelo and Giovanina (Giannone) Emilo. Raphael was a lifelong resident of Middlebury, where he attended Middlebury Schools. While in school he was very active in sports, particularly in Football where he received several citations. In his earlier years he and his father operated A. Emilo Coal and Oil, he later owned his own oil business and filling station in Middlebury. He was the owner and operator of the Cannon Park Restaurant in downtown Middlebury. Raphael had worked for the Vermont State Highway Department for several years before his retirement. After retiring, he continued to work for Middlebury College as a custodian. He also worked in the security and maintenance department at Middlebury Union High School.
Raphael was a volunteer for the Middlebury Fire Department, and after retirement, he did volunteer work with the U.S. Forestry Service. Raphael was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Middlebury and was active in Project Independence and the Russ Shole's Senior Center. At home Ralph enjoyed vegetable gardening and raising registered German Shepherds, some of which were used in law enforcement and for the blind.
Surviving are four sons; Ralph and his wife Carol Emilo of New York, David and his wife Alice Emilo of Montpelier, Vermont, Edwin Emilo of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Michael Emilio of Middlebury, Vermont; four daughters; Roxanna Emilo of Middlebury, Giovanina "Nina" and her husband John Price of Vergennes, Tina (Emilo) Dragon and her fiance Terry Blair of East Middlebury, MaryAnne and her husband Mike Gonsalves of Brandon, Florida; one brother Louis Emilo, Sr. and his wife Geraldine of Middlebury; two sisters, Angelina Cuifo and her husband Angelo of South Burlington and Josephine DeVecchi of White Hall, New York. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at St. Mary's Church in Middlebury.
Memorial contributions may be made to Addison County Humane Society, 236 Boardman Street, Middlebury, Vermont 05753 or the Vermont Alzheimer's Association, 338 River Street, Montpelier, vermont 05602.

Peter J. Fenimore
Brandon, Vermont
Peter Joseph Fenimore, 61, died Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Fenimore was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 10, 1938. He was the son of Joseph and Julia (Gallup) Fenimore. He received his education in local Brooklyn, New York schools. Mr. Fenimore was employed as a Keeper of Marine Mammals at the New York Aquarium for over 30 years. He retired to Brandon in 1995.
Surviving is a daughter; Donna Fenimore of Brandon; one son, Joseph Fenimore of Brooklyn, New York; three sisters, Alice Griffin of Long Island, New York, Barbara Mazzella of New Jersey and Alice Levy of Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Christopher Gonzalez of Brandon and Nicholas Fenimore of Brooklyn, New York.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Reverend Albert "Skip" Baltz, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiated. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Brandon Area Rescue Squad, PO Box 232, Brandon, Vermont 05733
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home of Brandon.

Albert L. Blaise, Sr.
Vergennes, Vermont
Albert L. Blaise, Sr., 86, died Monday, January 3, 2000 at Clark Nursing Home in Vergennes.
He was born August 29, 1913 in Peru, New York, the son of William and Rose (Loiselle) Blaise.
He was a member of American Legion Post #14 in Vergennes.
Albert is survived by eight children; Alberta Goodrich of Craftsbury, Elaine Whitcomb of Woodbury, Everett Blaise and Anna Dyment of New Hampshire, Terry Stratton, Bradley Blaise, Rocky Blaise, and Steven Blaise, all of Kentucky; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Rheaume, and a brother, Paul Blaise, both of Vergennes.
He was predeceased by a son, Albert L. Blaise, Jr.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 6, 2000 at St. Peter's Cemetery in Vergennes.

Marion E. Gleason
Bristol, Vermont
Marion B. Gleason, 77, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.
She was born on July 4, 1922 in Bristol, the daughter of Raymond and Katherine (Meehan) Levarn.
Marion taught school for 33 years, and retired from the Bristol Elementary School in 1985.
He was predeceased by her husband John on April 2, 1996.
Marion is survived by three sons and their wives; Michael and Anne Gleason of Bristol, Gregory and Denise Gleason of Bristol, Stephen and Mary Gleason of South Burlington; five grandchildren, Seth, Bryce, Peter, Ellen and Kate; a sister, Betty Levarn of Bristol; sister-in-law, Gussie Levarn of Bristol and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 6, 2000 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment will be at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the March of Dimes, PO Box 305, Barre, Vermont 05641.

William P. (Bill) Murphy
Bristol, Vermont
William P. (Bill) Murphy, 50, died peacefully, Thursday, January 6, 2000 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
He was born on May 28, 1949 in Burlington, the son of Burton J. and Miriam (Hillyer) Murphy.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Bristol American Legion Post #19 and VFW in Middlebury. He was a member of F.O.R. Motorcycle Club and the D.A.N. Club. He volunteered at the Multiple Sclerosis Bike Tour for many years. He was a Pheresis Donator. He owned and operated Hill Construction Company.
"Bill was a True Free Spirit on Two Wheels."
He is survived by his two sons; Luke Murphy of Montgomery, Matt Murphy and his fiancee Desiree Kane of Enosburg Falls; a brother, James and his wife Sandy Murphy of Bristol; Special Friend, Sue Pendrok of Bristol; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Bill was predeceased by his sister Ann Marie Dion.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, January 10, 2000 at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol. Interment will be at a later date.

Allan C. Jolly
Brandon, Vermont
Allan Carnegie Jolly, 86, died Thursday, January 6, 2000 at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.
Mr. Jolly was born in Wallingford, Connecticut on May 31, 1913. He was the son of James and Gertrude (Smith) Jolly. He had been a resident of Vermont since 1960, moving from Wallingford, Connecticut.
He is survived by two nieces; Eleanor Kubeck of Wallingford, Connecticut, and Elizabeth Douglas of Southington, Connecticut.
Allan was predeceased by his wife Delores Jolly in 1985, and a son, Allan C. Jolly, Jr. in 1994.
A private graveside committal service and burial took place on Monday, January 10, 2000 in the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon. The Reverend Albert Baltz, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home of Brandon.
