JESSIE M. BLAIR

CHICOPEE, Mass./RICHFORD -- Jessie M. Blair, age 102, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 18, 2002, at her daughter, Ramona Roy's home.

She was born June 28, 1900, in Montgomery, the daughter of the late Fred and Hattie (Domina) Lumbra.

She lived in Vermont most of her life, moving to Enfield, Conn. in 1973 she had also made her home in Chicopee, Mass. She was a former member of All Saints Catholic Church in Richford. She enjoyed crocheting and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Cleone Tetreault, Janis Rushford, both of Enfield, Conn., and Ramona Roy of Chicopee, Mass.; one sister, Loretta Record of Berkshire, Vt.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Blair; a son, Duane Blair; three granddaughters, Gail and Debra Rushford and Marie Roy; three sisters, Louise Tevyaw, Florence Tatro, and Virginia Gonya; three brothers, Hardy, Ulric and Joseph Lumbra.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at 11 at All Saints Catholic Church with Reverend Theobould Richard celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Richford Center Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening from 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford.

HILDRETH I. BAKER

RICHFORD -- Hildreth I. Baker, age 85, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2002, at the Holiday House Nursing Home in St. Albans, with her son by her side. She was born July 13, 1917, in Richford, the daughter of the late Hoyt E. and Eunice (Gross) Miner.

She married Raymond Baker on March 26, 1940. Hildreth was a loving person and was devoted to her husband, children and her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Her hobbies included sewing and knitting for her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Richford United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Baker of Richford; a son and his wife, Charles "Chuck" and Hallie Baker of Nashua, N.H.; a daughter and her husband, Connie and Alan Mullen of Georgia; her grandchildren, Charles "Chuckie" McAllister of Richford, Kimberly Ann Gonyeau and her husband, Earl of Clinton, Mass., Eric Baker of Fort Meyers, Fla., Steven Mullen of Colchester and Linda LaPierre and her husband Tom of Chazy, N.Y.; eight great-granddaughters; a very special friend, Evelyn Rowse of Morrisonville, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald Miner and Kenneth "Cub" Miner.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Montgomery Village Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

ELIZABETH A. DEUSO

ENOSBURG FALLS -- Elizabeth A. Deuso, age 79, died peacefully at her home Sunday evening, Sept. 15, 2002, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Enosburg Falls, the daughter of Eunice (Elwood) Rushlow and the late William Rushlow.

Elizabeth married Howard Deuso on Oct. 25, 1947, and they lived in their present home in Enosburg Falls most of their 54 years of marriage. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ladies of St. Anne Society and the Enosburgh Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She worked many years as the Hot Lunch Agent at Enosburg Elementary School. In her later years, she enjoyed summers at the cottage on Fairfield Pond and being a homemaker for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Deuso of Enosburg Falls; three sons and their wives, William and Susan Deuso of Enosburg Falls, Dennis and Susie Deuso of Montgomery, and James and Sally Deuso of Swanton; one daughter and her husband, Cindy and Roddy Churchill of Sheldon; her mother, Eunice Rushlow of St. Albans; 10 grandchildren, Howard, Billie Jo, Carrie, Nicholas, Justin, Ryan, Justin, James, Dustin and Katie; seven great-grandchildren, Billy, Alex, Jessica, Shaliegh, Meghan, Rene and Jaden; three sisters, Ethel Chapple, Anna Leroux, both of Swanton, Charlotte Deuso and her husband Joseph of Springfield, Mass.; two brothers and their wives, Kenneth and Shirley Rushlow and Richard and Elaine Rushlow, both of Swanton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Erika Deuso; a sister, Charlene Rushlow; and a brother, Lester Rushlow.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Reverend Gerard Leclerc celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Isidores Cemetery in Montgomery Center. There will be no visiting hours.

CHRISTIAN S. BAKER KRETZER

COLCHESTER -- Christian S. Baker Kretzer died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002. Christian was born on Dec. 27, 1977, in Burlington, the son of Gerald and Kathleen (Bogue) Baker.

On Dec. 9, 2000, he married Jessa Skinner in Colchester.

Christian served in the U.S. Army and was presently employed as a salesman. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and son.

In addition to his wife Jessa, he is survived by their son, Aiden Domina, both of Colchester; his parents, Kenneth and Kathleen Kretzer of Essex Junction; his sisters, Alyson and Erin Kretzer, Lisa Baker and his brother Gary Baker. By his maternal grandparents, Barbara Slegl of Jackson, Tenn. and Jack Bogue of Milan, Tenn.; by his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Dianne Skinner of South Hero; his grandparents, Howard and Gladys Kretzer of Williston; and great-grandmother Lela Dornberger of Burlington; Jessa's grandparents, Harris and Rue Skinner of North Carolina; Lucille Merchant of Rouses Point, N.Y.; his brother-in-law Ryan Skinner; and by several cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald Baker, in 1981; and his brother, Justin Kretzer, in 2001.

Visiting hours will be private. A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, Sept. 19, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. at the Essex Alliance Church, located on Old Stage Road in Essex.

Burial will be in the family plot in the Montgomery Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.

For those who wish, contributions in Christian's memory may be made to the family to be used for Christian and Jessa's son, Aiden's care, c/o Robert Skinner, 74 Featherbed Lane, South Hero, Vt. 05486.

NORMAN G. GRANGER

MILTON -- Norman G. Granger, 54, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington. He was born at home, March 14, 1948, in Milton, the son of George A. and Madeline (Merrier) Granger.

He graduated from Milton High School with the class of 1966. Following graduation he went to work at Champlain Cable in Colchester, where he remained employed for over 36 years. He was proud of the fact that he helped to wire the first Chrysler PT Cruiser during the initial assembly and production of the automobile.

On Sept. 19, 1970, Norman married Anne Cecile Duell in Burlington. Together, they lived for over 22 years in Winooski. They moved back to Milton in 1995 to live in the house in which he was born.

Norman was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski and Secretary Treasurer/Vice President of the Teamster Union Local 597, and on the Board of the AFL-CIO as well as the Board of Joint Council 10 while at Champlain Cable.

Norman loved to camp and fish, however, his passion was for automobiles. He loved to tinker and work on his old cars that he acquired over the years.

In addition to his wife, Anne of Milton, he is survived by two sons, Roger P. Granger of Milton and Norman E. Granger and his wife Bonnie of South Burlington. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Krystal Beth, Collin Andrew and Adison Joan Granger; by his sisters, Muriel Sampson and her husband James of Hayward, Calif., Mary Irene Thornton and her husband Mike of Newport, Theresa Benjamin and her husband Dean of Westford; brother-in-law, Richard Duell of Winooski; sister-in-law Phyllis Murphy of Northfield; his nieces and nephews, George Murphy and his wife LeeAnn and their daughter Tara, Sean Murphy and his wife Lori and their sons Michael and Bryan, Tim Sampson and his daughter Faith, Derek Sampson, Angie Hicks and her husband Joe and their sons Christopher and Kyle, Sonja Sampson and Shana and Bruce Thornton. He was predeceased by his grandson, Austin P. Granger, in 1998; a niece, Michelle Turner in 1972; and a brother-in-law, Michael Murphy in February of this year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Milton.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

MARY S. "BETTY" DONAHUE

RICHFORD - Mary S. "Betty" Donahue, age 92, died Friday evening, Sept. 13, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born, Jan. 27, 1910, in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mae (Sargent) Sawyer.

Betty was a resident of Richford most of her life and an active member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was the owner of the Fred H. Kelley Insurance Agency in Richford for 46 years. She married Francis J. Donahue in November of 1943, he later joined her in the business in 1946. They sold the business to Deringer Insurance and retired in 1983.

She was very active in the Richford community, serving on the board of directors of the Richford Health Center since its inception, served on the Richford Planning Commission and the board of adjustment from its inception in 1976 until 1996. She was a trustee of the Arvin A. Brown library from 1966 to 1988 and also served as the library treasurer for many years. A room in the library was dedicated to Mary S. Donahue in recognition of her contributions. She also contributed and worked on many charitable fund drives including the Richford Parks, Jay Mountain Road, and the Corliss Fountain Restoration. She was a long time golf enthusiast and was a member and stockholder of the Richford Country Club.

Better was also instrumental in the formation and development of the Kerbs Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, now known as the Northwestern Medical Center Auxiliary.

She was the devoted wife of Francis J. Donahue of Richford; a wonderful and loving mother to her son, David F. Donahue and his wife Diane of Bedford, N.H. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Olivia Donahue of Bedford, N.H.; two brothers, Robert Sawyer of Denver, Colo. and Dr. David Sawyer and his wife Chris of Norwich, Conn.; a sister, Margaret Flanagan of Washington, D.C.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Sawyer of Ft. Myers, Fla. She was predeceased by a brother, John Sawyer.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic church with Rev. Theobould Richard celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

ALLISON ANN BARKYOUMB

MILTON - Allison Ann Barkyoumb, 15, of Lake Road, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2002, due to complications following surgery at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Allison was born, Feb. 9, 1987 in Burlington, the daughter of Chris Robert and Deborah Ann Black Barkyoumb.

Allison was in her sophomore year at Milton High School where she excelled both academically and socially. She was very proud of the national award that she won in science for her Save the Whales project. She was a member of the Milton State Band where she enjoyed playing the saxophone. She was instrumental in organizing and promoting the Milton High School Dance Club and danced in many productions of the Drama Department.

Very talented in both dance and choreography, Allison performed in two productions of the Nutcracker Ballet with the Albany Berkshire Ballet Company. She competed with the Electric Youth Dance Competition Group in Montreal and more recently this past May at Disney World in Florida. She had taught dance locally in Donna LaRose's Dance Group.

She was a member of the Sparkette's Dance Team that danced for the Vermont Voltage soccer team before and during soccer matches.

A young lady that was full of life and had a passion for fun, Allison was a born leader who lived life to its fullest. An avid risk taker, she was not afraid of trying anything, whether it be snowboarding or wild rides at the fair. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Allison leaves her mother, Deborah Smith and her stepfather, Steven, of Milton and her father Chris Barkyoumb and her stepmother, Kimberly, of Swanton; her sister, Danielle and brother, Ethan, both of Milton; her three stepbrothers, Michael Weber and Tyler and Riley Wetmore of Swanton; her grandparents, William and Marilyn Black of Milton and Reginald and Joyce Barkyoumb of Fairfax; her great-grandparents Paul and Augusta Towne of Milton; her uncles and aunts, Darryl and Betsey Black, Gary Barkyoumb and Ann and Tom Besaw; several cousins and many members of her extended family. Allison also leaves her very best friend Kayla Gennrich of Milton as well as her very many special friends that she had made in her life.

She was predeceased by her brother, Derek Lee Smith on Dec. 6, 1993.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. in the United Church of Milton with the Reverend Jeffrey Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Village Cemetery.

A fund is being established in Allison's memory to create a Dance Foundation that will be used to promote the art of dance that Allison loved so much. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in care of Julie Gennrich, 31 Checkerberry Square, Milton, Vt. 05468 or to the American Heart Association, Vermont affiliate, Inc. P. O. Box 130, Shelburne, Vt. 05482.

Visiting hours will be held today, Monday, Sept. 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Minor funeral Home, Route 7, Milton.
