Clayton M. Johnson
Swanton/Haines City, Florida
Clayton M. Johnson, 81, passed away January 7, 2000 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Haines City, Florida.
He was born in Swanton, Vermont on January 6, 1919 to Edwin and Jennie (Greenia) Johnson. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic by the State of Vermont for 17 years, and was a lifetime member of the Vermont State Employee Association. He was married to Anna (Patrizio) Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; his step-sons, Gary Johnson and his wife JoAnn of Newport, Vermont, Sylvester Johnson and his wife Sue of Phoenix, Arizona; his step-daughters, Jennie Brinkman and her husband Michael of Cornwall, Elizabeth Quesnel and her husband Tom of Cornwall, Martha Quesnel and her husband Allen of Cornwall, Linda Maxham and her husband Tom of Orwell, and Maria Murray and her husband Doug of Salisbury. He is also survived by 13 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his siblings; Fay, Gordon, Timothy, Arnold Johnson and Hilda Glidden. He was also predeceased by two step-grandchildren, Matthew John Quesnel and Douglas Murray, Jr.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at the East Highgate Cemetery in Highgate, Vermont.
Memorial contributions may be made, in his memory, to the American Lung Association, 30 Farrell Street, South Burlington, Vermont 05403.
Sanderson Funeral Service was in care of the arrangements.

Patience L. Trickett
Orwell, Vermont
Patience Lilian Trickett, 96, died Saturday, January 8, 2000 at the home of her son in Orwell, Vermont.
Mrs. Trickett was born in Carbonear, Newfoundland on January 24, 1903. She was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Earle) Colburne. She came to this country in 1921 and settled in the Boston, Massachusetts area. She married George Albert Trickett in October, 1924 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Trickett died June 10, 1980. She was a life long accomplished Seamstress. She especially enjoyed Needlework Art. She had been a full time resident of Orwell since June 1999, moving from Lynnfield, Massachusetts. She was a member of the Orwell 60 Plus Club. Her family was her life.
Surviving is one son; George A. Trickett and his wife Carole of Orwell; a daughter, Margaret Constance Trickett of Lynnfield, Massachusetts; 4 granddaughters, Jennifer Ruotolo and Heather Trickett, both of Malden, Massachusetts, Hannahlore Trickett of New Vineyard, Maine, and Sarah Trickett of Middlebury, Vermont.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Brandon. The Reverend Gordon Bardos, Rector, officiated. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to Project Independence, 27 North Pleasant Street, Middlebury, Vermont 05753.
The Mallory Funeral Home of Fair Haven was in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie E. Dragon
Salisbury, Vermont
Marjorie Elizabeth Dragon, 62, died at her home in Salisbury on Saturday, January 8, 2000, following a long illness.
She was born on May 19, 1937 in Ripton, Vermont, the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Wimmett) Dragon. She was employed as a Team Leader in Custodial Services at Middlebury College. She had also worked for Eastman-Kodak as production manager in Massachusetts and for B.F. Goodrich in Vergennes. She was a member of the American Legion/VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was an avid hunter, fisherman and she enjoyed knitting. She is survived by her significant other; Richard Bullock of Salisbury; a son, Lindsay Malzac and his friend Lori of Springfield, Massachusetts, Clifton Dragon and his wife Darlene of Hardwick; sisters, Shirlene Malzac of East Middlebury, Janice Munson and her husband Jerry of Middlebury, Barbara Barrows of Brandon, and Norma Young and her friend Ron Preseau of Sudbury. She is also survived by three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 13, 2000 at the Sanderson Funeral Chapel, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury, Vermont.
Memorial contributions may be made ion her memory to Addison County Home Health, PO Box 754, Middlebury, Vermont 05753.
Sanderson Funeral Service was in care of the arrangements.

Erich E. Stoepel
Bristol, Vermont
Erich E. Stoepel, 89, died Saturday, January 8, 2000 at his home in Bristol.
He was born on November 26, 1910 in Insterburg, Germany, the son of Albert and Minna Stoepel.
He was a member of the Copernicus Masonic Lodge #545 F&AM of Whitestone, New York.
Erich was predeceased by his wife Charlotte Stoepel on September 19, 1993.
He is survived by his daughter Brigitta; and grandson, Max; nephew Ralph; and niece Cornelia; and cousin Martin Funk and family.
Special thanks to friends at the Bristol American Legion Post #19, Bristol and Lincoln friends and neighbors, Pastor Wood and Rice and the fellowship of the United Church of Lincoln, Dr. Henderson and Dr. Clark, and the Addison County Hospice for their supportiveness, friendship and kindness before and during his illness.
A memorial service will be held at the Lincoln United Church on Saturday, January 15, 2000 at 4:00 pm.

Oletha A. Gardner
Bristol, Vermont
Oletha A. Gardner, 75, died Sunday, January 9, 2000 at Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in Burlington.
She was born on June 15, 1924 in Middlebury, the daughter of Burt and Lena (Cousino) Morrill.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol.
Oletha was predeceased by her husband Charles Gardner in 1990.
She is survived by three daughters; Judith Woodbeck of Woodbury, Linda Myers of Lowell, Susan Gardner of Lincoln; two sons, Kenneth Gardner of New Mexico, Scott Gardner of Lowell; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Hilda Masterson of East Randolph; a brother, Waldo Morrill of New York as well as several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol. Interment was in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
The Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol was in care of the arrangements.

Arthur W. Ketcham
Brandon, Vermont &
Shrewsbury, Massachusetts
Arthur William Ketcham, 80, died Sunday, January 9, 2000 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Mr. Ketcham was born in Proctor, Vermont on July 16, 1919. He was the son of Olin George and Ruth (Sawyer) Ketcham. He graduated from Brandon High School, Class of 1936. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, Class of 1941, where he earned his Phi Beta Kappa. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Submariner. He was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant in 1946. He began his career in Electrical Engineering at the Navy Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut until 1955. He assumed a position with Raytheon Corporation until 1971. He had also worked for Sander Electronics Corporation. He retired from Nordon United Technologies in 1989.
Surviving is his wife Eleanor (Cebrat) Ketcham of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; whom he married in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 15, 1945; one son, Thomas William Ketcham of Pepperall, Massachusetts; a daughter, Joyce Ketcham-Jeffery of Upton, Massachusetts; two brothers, Russell P. Ketcham of Lafayette, Louisiana and Chester S. Ketcham of Leicester, Vermont; three granddaughters, Andrea Walsh, Jennifer Ketcham and Charlene Ketcham and one great-granddaughter, Rachael Walsh.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon. The Reverend Albert "Skip" Baltz, Pastor officiated, and the Reverend Russ Gates, Pastor of the Union Church of Proctor assisted. A graveside committal service and burial followed in the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.
Memorial gifts may be made to the National Association for Alternative Medicine, Parkinson Disease Research, 4612 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90041.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home of Brandon.
