LARRY M. BYRNE

RICHFORD -- Larry M. Byrne, age 54, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, following a brief illness. He was born in Morrisville Jan. 20, 1948, the son of Lillian (Phelps) Byrne and the late Marvin Byrne.

Larry had been a resident of Morrisville most of his life and for the past eight years made his home in Richford. He had been employed at Milton-Bradley and IBM, and for the past four years, was employed at Barry Callebaut Chocolate in St. Albans. He had a passion for antique cars and clocks and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Besides his mother, Lillian Byrne of Johnson, he leaves his wife, Susan (Nutting) Byrne of Richford; a son, Larry Byrne Jr. of Sheldon; a step-daughter, Jennifer Campolungo of Williston; a step-son, Timothy Rivers of Milton; two brothers, Gary Byrne of Hyde Park and Tony Byrne of Eden; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Larry's wishes, he was cremated and a memorial grave side service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Richford Center Cemetery.

Spears Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ALICE IRENE STRONG

MILTON/PROCTORSVILLE -- Alice Irene Strong, 78, died Friday morning, Oct. 18, 2002, at the Birchwood Health Care in Burlington, following a long illness. Alice was born in Mt. Holly on April 22, 1924, the daughter of Norris and Mabel (White) Dawley.

Alice attended school in Mt. Holly and the Black River Academy in Ludlow. She was married to Kenneth "Danny" Strong in 1945. Danny predeceased her in 1981.

Alice worked for 20 years for Mack Molding in Cavendish, retiring in 1986. She moved to Milton to be near her family in 1986.

Mrs. Strong loved her cats, playing bingo and garage sales, She was a very dedicated mother, grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Elaine Nason of Milton; by her grandchildren, Kelly Martin and her husband William of Milton, Kim Miner of Milton, Mike Nason and his wife Laura of Essex Junction, Jackie Langlois and her husband Tom of Milton, and Jo Alyce Clark and her husband Anthony of Milton; by her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy Coli, Tom Langlois Jr., Chris Nason, Jennifer Langlois, Nichole Nason, Andy Miner, Kaylee Isham, and Rachel Clark; by her brother, Raymond Dawley and his wife Veda of Bridgewater; her nieces and nephews, Rodney, Philip and Anne Burgess of Manchester by the Sea, Mass. and Bruce Dawley of Oregon.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Elsie Saulnier, Helen Burgess, Ruth Strong; and by a granddaughter, Jill Elaine Nason, in 1962.

A funeral service will be held today, Oct. 21, 2002, at 3 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Friends may call on the family from 2-3 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Burial with Committal Prayers will be in the family lot in the Cavendish Cemetery in Cavendish on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

MARIE ANNA DELORES (TREMBLAY) DUELL

WINOOSKI -- Marie Anna Delores (Tremblay) Duell, 92, died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2002, at her daughter Phyllis's home in Northfield, with her loving daughters, Ann and Phyllis, by her side. Delores was born in Winooski on Aug. 23, 1910, the daughter of Joseph A. and Anna (Nantell) Tremblay.

She was a graduate of the Winooski High School Class of 1927, and from St. Joseph's Hospital Nursing School in 1929, in Far Rockaway, Long Island, N.Y.

On Oct. 30, 1937, she married Richard P. Duell at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Burlington. Richard predeceased her in 1970.

Delores returned to nursing in Burlington in 1958, at what was the DeGoesbriand Hospital. She retired in 1978 from the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont after over 20 years of service. Following retirement, Delores volunteered at the Senior's Clinic in Winooski for several years.

She is survived by her son, Richard E. Duell of Milton; by her twin daughters, Ann C. Granger of Milton and Phyllis C. Murphy of Northfield; by her grandchildren, Roger Granger, Norman E. Granger and his wife Bonnie, George Murphy and his wife LeeAnn and Sean Murphy and his wife Lori; and by her great-grandchildren, Tara Murphy, Michael Murphy, Bryan Murphy, Collin Granger, and Adison Granger; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Richard, Delores was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Tremblay and her sister Cecile Guyette, both in 1994; by her great-grandson, Austin Granger in 1998; and by her son-in-laws, Michael Murphy and Norman Granger, both in 2002.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Oct. 21, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski with the Reverend Father Richard Lavalley as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Duell family lot in the New Mount Calvary Cemetery in Burlington.

Visiting hours were Sunday, Oct. 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

CARMELLA ANN DARLING

MILTON -- Carmella Ann Darling, 65, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a long illness. Carmella was born on July 28, 1937, in Winooski, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Denoi) Arruzza.

On May 4, 1957, she married Henry Edward Darling in St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Winooski. Millie enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting many states and countries throughout Europe, and the Caribbean.

She enjoyed working as a volunteer for the Red Cross in both Europe, Georgia and the Ft. Meade, Maryland area. She received a high award from the Military for her work at the Red Cross and for feeding the young troops and the troops that could not go home for the Holidays. Her biggest reward was in seeing the smiles and in the hugs she would receive. As Millie often stated, she was a hug collector. Millie had been employed by IBM in Essex Junction.

In addition to her husband Henry of Milton, Millie is survived by her children, Karen LaPierre and her husband Phil, Edward Darling and his wife Laurie, Lynn Fuller and her husband Ed, all of Milton, and Mary Parray and her husband Peter of Brookfield, Conn.; by her grandchildren, Erin and Jeremy LaPierre, Colby Darling, Sarah and Mark Williams, Bethany Vezpremy, Sarah Fuller, Sammy and Trini Parray; and by many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Josephine Arruzza of Winooski, Nancy DeForge of Milton, Theresa Santimore of Winooski, Michael Arruzza of Winooski, John Arruzza of Virginia, Anthony Arruzza of Winooski, and Sammy Arruzza of California. Millie is also survived by her mother-in-law, Marion Darling of South Burlington, and her brother and sisters-in-laws, Wayne and Beverly Darling of South Burlington, Patricia Lavigne of Milton, Pearl Devlin of Cleveland, Ohio, and Sandra Roy of Colchester.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Ralph, Joseph and Patrick Arruzza; and her sister, Rachael Mohan; by her father-in-law, Henry Darling, Sr.; her brothers-in-law, Robert Santimore and George DeForge; and by a nephew, Robert Santimore, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Winooski. Burial will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Vermont Lung Association, 30 Farrell St., South Burlington, Vt. 05403-9987, or to the Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Road, Suite 1, Colchester, Vt. 05446.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 7-9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

CONWAY A. HUTCHINS

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Conway A. Hutchins, age 75, died Thursday, morning, Oct. 17, 202, in the Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in Rochester on March 31, 1927, son of the late Charles and Mildred (Eubar) Hutchins.

Conway served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 1. He retired in 1987 from I.B.M. in Essex Junction.

On Feb. 10, 1951, he married Lorraine Boisselle. Along with his wife of over 51 years, he leaves his sister, Barbara Brown and her special friend Royal Brown of Stockbridge; nephews Charles, Max, Myron and Robin Brown and niece Lisa Steventon. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a nine-year-old brother, Harold.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St. on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Interment will be in the Hutchins family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 485, Williston, Vt. 05495.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

CLEONE E. (BLAIR) TETREAULT

RICHFORD/ENFIELD, Conn. -- Cleone E. (Blair) Tetreault, age 78 of Grove Road in Enfield, Conn., beloved wife of the late Napoleon A. Tetreault, Sr., entered into eternal peace Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cleone was born Oct. 27, 1923 in Montgomery, Vermont, the daughter of the late Carl and Jessie (Lumbra) Blair. She lived in Enfield for most of her life. She was employed at Hamilton Standard and later retired from Hi G. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Tetreault and his wife Michele of Fletcher, Dennis Tetreault and his wife Penny of Enfield, and Napoleon Tetreault Jr. of Enfield; two daughters, Linda Blair and her husband Alvey, Sr. of Enfield, and Jane Kaherl and her husband Carlton of Sharon, Maine; two sisters, Janice Rushford of Enfield and Ramona Roy of Chicopee, Mass.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved dog, Cocoa. Cleone was predeceased by a brother, Duane Blair.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Church in Richford, followed by burial at Richford Center Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held in Richford Sunday, Oct. 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford, Vt.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cleone's memory may be made to Johnson Memorial Hospital Hospice Care, P.O. Box 860, Stafford Springs, Conn., 06076.

VICTOR A. JACQUES

SWANTON -- Mr. Victor A. Jacques, 66, a life long Franklin County resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was born in St. Albans on Oct. 9, 1936, the son of the late Albert F. and Bernadette (Santor) Jacques.

Victor was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and upon his discharge became a member of the Vermont Army National Guard. For many years he was employed as a pipefitter with Johnson Controls and retired from A. Cooper & Sons. He was a member of the St. Albans Elks Lodge #1566 and the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 693. Victor had great enjoyment in hunting, fishing, and woodworking and riding on his Harley and in his Jeep.

Survivors include his children, Becky Benson, and her husband, Albert, of St. Albans, Mike Jacques and his wife, Tina, of Warner Robins, Ga., Chris Jacques and his wife, Lisa, of Sylvester, Ga., Cathy Jackson and her husband, Ralph, of Albany, Ga., and Carrie Jacques of Essex; his sisters, Madeline Cantell of St. Albans and Gloria Norcross and her husband, Ken, of Fairfax; his brothers, Bernard Jacques and his wife, Rosalie, of St. Albans, Francis Jacques and his wife, Jane, of Zephyrhills, Fla., Henry Jacques of Burlington and Paul Jacques and his wife, Sue, of Alburg; his grandchildren, Claire and Clifton Jacques, Danielle, Rachel, Karen, Phillip and Nathan Jacques; many nieces and nephews; as well as his boxer, Yukon.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main St., St. Albans, with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

VIRGINIA BOOMHOWER L'ECUYER

EAST ALBURG -- Mrs. Virginia Boomhower L'Ecuyer, 84, a native of Swanton and a resident of East Alburg for more than 50 years, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Oct. 13, 2002, in her residence.

She was born in St. Albans City, Oct. 3, 1918, the daughter of the late Charles G. and Carrie Mary (Prouty) Boomhower. She attended Swanton High School and in 1942 was married to Gregory L'Ecuyer, who predeceased her.

A faithful and devoted resident of Grand Isle County, Virginia served as County Clerk beginning in 1957 and until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Vermont Retired State Employees Association, was an honorary member of the Vermont Sheriff's Association and a parishioner of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church.

Virginia leaves two sisters, Elizabeth J. "Betty" Giroux of Swanton and Barbara Mercier Mott and her husband Sonny of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two brothers, Lee "Pat" Boomhower of Clearwater, Fla. and Ronald "Stubby" Boomhower and his wife Elizabeth of Grand Junction, Colo.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Virginia will always be remembered for her great love of the Alburg community where she also leaves many caring and dedicated friends.

A sister Madeline Messier; and a brother, Charles W. "Mike" Boomhower, predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, director of St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte will officiate. Private interment will take place later in St. Mary's Cemetery.

There will be no public calling hours, however, the family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service.
