BARBARA J. ROBERT

ENOSBURG FALLS -- Barbara J. Robert, age 66, wife of Hector Robert, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Danbury, Conn., the daughter of the late Jack and Vincenza (Salvia) Brady.

She had been a resident of Enosburg Falls since 1975, and was a former resident of Brewster, N.Y. She and Hector owned and operated the Hotel Quincy for six years, where she made many life long friends. Barbara also had an in-home day care for several years. She was an excellent Italian cook. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 42 of Enosburg Falls.

She is survived by her husband, Hector Robert of Enosburg Falls; one daughter, Jean Robert of Brewster, N.Y.; two sons, Kirk Robert and his girlfriend, Tammy Burns of Enosburg Falls, and Garth Robert and his wife Teresa and their son David Burns, all of Bakersfield; a sister, Mary Ann Wallace of Westminster, Calif.; two nieces, Tracy Cabrera and her husband Gerry and their two children, Anthony and Caroline, Lisa Pearson, her husband Craig, and their children Miles and Jack, all of California.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening from 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.

ROGER L. CODDING

ST. ALBANS/LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Roger L. Codding, 80, of Los Angeles, Calif., died Oct. 17, 2002. He was the son of the late Frederick A. Codding and Elephigina A. (Houle) Codding.

He was born in St. Albans on Oct. 24, 1922. Mr. Codding served in World War II in the infantry in the South Pacific as part of the amphibious engineers.

He was a member of Masonic lodges in St. Albans and California.

He was predeceased by his wife, Connie Duffy, who died at age 50.

He is survived by his son, Craig Codding; a twin brother Richard, of St. Albans, and a brother, Gregory, of Middlebury. He also leaves a sister, Madeline Howard, of St. Albans.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Codding was cremated.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Church in St. Albans at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

JAZMINE IVORY MAYE LAVOIE

ISLE LA MOTTE -- Jazmine Ivory Maye Lavoie, born Oct. 27, 2002, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Burlington.

Jazmine was the infant daughter of Meranda Lavoie of Isle La Motte; granddaughter of Linda and David Koss of Isle La Motte; and great-granddaughter of Gilbert and Audrey Koss of East Windsor, Conn., and James and Jeannine Lavoie of Caribou, Maine.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Mission in Isle La Motte. The pastor, Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE officiated. Duane Langlois assisted as Minister of the Altar. Soloist Maurice Gauthier provided the music. Interment followed in St. Joseph's Mission Cemetery with Father Boucher reading the committal prayers. The bearers were Steve Lavoie and Josh Parico.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, Swanton.

APRIL LEE DIXON

CARROLL, N.H. -- Miss April Lee Dixon, age 36, died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in Carroll, N.H. She was born April 21, 1965, daughter of Mr. Raymond Dixon and Mrs. Rosemarie (Gosselin) Smith. She was most recently employed as a clerk in a New Hampshire convenience store.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her twin children, Jennifer and Joshua Fenner; her step-mother, Bonnie Dixon; her step-father, John Smith, Sr.; five brothers and sisters, Allen Dixon and his wife Julie, John Smith Jr. and his wife Erin, Amie Weglin and her husband Mark, Christy Yandow and her husband Jason, and Jamie Totten and her husband Darren; her maternal grandmother, Anna Gosselin; her paternal grandmother, Alma Parah; and several other relatives. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, J.C. Arsene Gosselin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Inurnment will follow in the Gosselin family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

WANDA C. VIAU

MILTON -- Wanda C. Viau, 66 of Milton, died Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2002, at her home surrounded by her husband, family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer

Wanda was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Burlington, the daughter of the late James P. and Rita A. Snyder Crowley Toutant. She graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1954. On Jan. 28, 1955, she married Thomas L. Viau in Burlington. Together they have resided in Milton since November of 1978.

Wanda was an employee of the Howard Bank for over 20 years, retiring as an Assistant Trust Officer. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening and reading. She was a member of the Friends of the Milton Library, the Milton Woman's Club, Vermont Girl Scouts and was a Fresh Air host and mentor, as well as an active member with the Milton Fair Committee. She was a recipient of the JCPenney Golden Rule Award, given for her exceptional volunteer service with the community.

Wanda was extremely proud of the fact that she was one of the founders of the Milton Family Community Center in 1986. She assumed the position of president of the board in 1990 until the present time. Under Wanda's relentless leadership, the center grew from a staff of three people, to a staff of over 30 employees. She was instrumental in obtaining a larger facility to expand services to over 600 families.

She is survived by her husband, Tom, of Milton; her brother-in-law, Ronald Viau and his wife Linda of Underhill; sisters-in-law, Janet Osborne and Anna Viau of New Jersey and Janice Viau of Ohio; two nieces, Christine and Danielle; her nephew, Justin; and a great-niece, Carly. She leaves several cousins, including Ellie and Joel Snyder of Burlington, who stayed by Wanda's side all during her difficult days, and several close friends, including Shirley Irish, JoAnn LaFayette, Pat Fiske and Belva and Darrell Meulemans, as well as her many beloved pets.

She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her stepfather, Harrison Toutant.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Fletcher Allen Baird 3 Nursing Staff, Lisa Wester, the VNA, Dr. Gamal Eltabbakh and his staff, Sally and Kelly, and the entire Fletcher Allen Chemo Team for their help and support during Wanda's illness.

There will be no calling hours, however, a Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Milton, Main Street in Milton, with the Reverend Jeffrey Cornwell officiating. A reception will follow in the church parlor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

For those who wish, memorial contribution's in Wanda's memory may be made to The Milton Family Community Center, P.O. Box 619, Milton, Vt. 05468.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home.

PATRICK D. GAGNE

JEFFERSONVILLE -- Patrick D. Gagne, age 84, and a long time resident of the area, passed away early Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born in Peoplis, Canada June 2, 1918.

He worked for many years as a logger with the Green Mont Lumber Company in Underhill.

Funeral services will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at 3:30 p.m. with the Reverend Francis Prive of St. Mary's Church officiating. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will be at a later date in the family lot in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax.

RICHARD I. GREEN, SR.

ENOSBURG FALLS -- Richard I. Green, Sr., age 80, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Nov. 5, 2002. He was born July 21, 1922, in Exeter, N.H, the son of the late Sidney and Inez (Beede) Green.

Richard was a resident of Enosburg Falls most of his life and worked as a truck driver for 60 years. In 1982, he started Richard I. Green Trucking, which he has passed on to his sons. For the last five years, he has worked for the Lyndonville Savings Bank as a courier. He also worked part time at Green's Ace Hardware.

He is survived by his wife, Frances (Nolan) Green of Enosburg Falls; two sons, Larry Green and Richard Green Jr. and his wife Ann, all of Enosburg Falls; five daughters, Sally Duffy and her husband Robert, Jayne Carpenter and her husband George, all of Enosburg Falls, Nancy Kane and her husband Tom of Sheldon, Rebecca Demar of Franklin and Debbie Campbell and her husband James of Swanton; a sister, Barbara Wright of Enosburg Falls; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 at the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church with Pastor Cheryl Heater officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

DONALD C. LaPLANT

SHELDON -- Mr. Donald C. LaPlant, 56, a lifelong resident of this area, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Donald retired due to illness in 1997, after a 23-year association with Pizzagalli Construction Co. in Burlington where he had served as a labor foreman. Donald loved his work and following his retirement he continued to be very active as a carpenter. He had a great love of bass fishing and hunting and spent every summer for many years at Campbell's Bay Campgrounds on Lake Champlain in West Swanton.

Donald also volunteered frequently with the UVM Extension Service Rehabilitation Program encouraging and assisting others who had become disabled in finding ways to remain active.

Affectionately known to his family as "Donny, " he was born in Richford, July 18, 1946, the oldest of the 12 children of Donald and Betty (LaFlam) LaPlant. He attended Richford schools and served during the Viet Nam War as a tank operator with the United States Army.

Donald is survived by a son, Greg; and a daughter, Jennifer; by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Chuck and Pauline LaPlant of Ripton, Ramona and Steve Philips of Baldwin, Miss., Gary and Kim LaPlant of Milton, Sally and Ken Holder of Olympia, Wash., Steve and Connie LaPlant of Ripton, Cindy and Guy Charbonneau of Richford, Capt. Mary and Dr. Don Maddox of Seattle, Wash., Bruce LaPlant of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Penny and Klaus David of Dunham, PQ, Canada and Guy LaPlant of Sheldon; his sister-in-law, with whom he made his home, Carmelita Bascom of Sheldon; his dear friends, Hubert W. Jr. "Shorty" and Brenda Paquette of Sheldon; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by a brother, Richard, on Feb. 19, 1990.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery in Highgate Falls. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Gifts in Donald's memory may be made to the UVM N.W. Ext. RFFVRP for use by the Rural and Farm Family Vocational Rehabilitation Program, in care of UVM, Attn. Gift Records, Grasse Mount Building, 411 Main Street, Burlington, Vt. 05405.
