Kristy was born in Frankukfurt, Germany, on Feb. 22, 1982, to Ideliz Perez and Jose Sotomayor.

Kristy was a bright, beautiful teenager who enjoyed being with her family and friends, chilling and listening to music. When Kristy was six, her father married his life mate, Michelle Ballard. She loved to come to Vermont to see her other family. There is no "step" or "half" in the word "family." She is also survived by her grandparents, Anna and Joaquin Sotomayor of Puerto Rico, and Padro Perez of Puerto Rico; and Eileen Ballard of St. Albans. She is also survived by many aunts and uncles. ELSIE McDONOUGH

Mrs. Elsie McDonough, beloved wife of Ira "Mac" McDonough for 68 years, died on Nov. 28, 2002, after a long illness. Elsie was born in Sheldon on June 12, 1912, the daughter of George and Mary Ploof.

As a little girl, Elsie especially loved accompanying her dad around their family farm and reading. She was an excellent student who earned the opportunity to pursue her high school education at Vermont Academy in Poultney. She then attended and graduated from Burlington Business College, after which she worked for Swanton Lumber Co. for several years. During this time, Elsie married Ira McDonough. She left the work force when her daughters were born and became a full-time mother. She rejoined the work force in the 1950s and was employed by the St. Albans Daily Messenger for more than 20 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her association with this company, making many friends among her co-workers.

Elsie was an extremely creative person whose talent was most evident in the beautiful gardens she produced. Many local people will recall the lovely grounds on Route 7 that Elsie planned and maintained. She was also a gifted photographer, seamstress and cook.

Following retirement, Elsie and Mac moved to Orange City, Fla., where they made their home for 10 years. Elsie loved Florida and especially enjoyed the flowers and birds indigenous to that area.

Elsie leaves her husband, Mac, and her two daughters, Sharon Chiott and Lynne Sullivan. She also leaves her sons by marriage, James Chiott and Gary Sullivan, as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sisters and her parents.

Those wishing to remember Elsie in a special way can contribute to the charity of their choice. She would also be most pleased by having flowers planted in her name, or a bird-feeding station built in her memory.
