DAVID MICHAEL DEMAG

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - David Michael Demag, 30, died unexpectedly as a result of a motorcycle accident Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in Las Vegas. David was born in Burlington, Vt., on Jan. 17, 1973, a beloved son of David E. and Donna Trombley Demag of Colchester.

He was educated in Essex Junction schools, a graduate of Essex Junction High School, Class of 1991. During his high school years, David distinguished himself as a member of the wrestling team and was the team's captain during his senior year. Dave graduated from Champlain College in 1993, earning his associate's degree in business. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1993 and served four years, including his service in Okinawa, Japan, and concluded honorable active duty as a Marine sergeant. He was married Oct. 12, 2001, to Victoria I. Klude in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Burlington.

David and Vicki worked and resided in Las Vegas for the past four years.

Dave is survived by his wife, Victoria I. Klude Demag of Las Vegas; his mother and father, Donna T. and David E. Demag of Colchester; a brother, Dennis, and his wife, Darlene, and their children, Zachary and Austin Demag, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his maternal grandparents, Connie and Joseph Trombley of Essex Junction; his paternal grandmother, Alice Demag of Winooski; Vicki's parents, Bonnie and Bill Klude of Reno; her brother and his wife, Robert and Edith Klude of Reno; her sister and her husband, Kristine and Michael Amouzandeh, and their children, Sarah and Suzanne, all of Redlands, Calif.; a paternal grandmother, Ann Klude of Sutherlin, Ore.; maternal grandparents Donald and Betty Bolton of Medford, Ore.; numerous Demag, Trombley and Klude family aunts and uncles; several cousins, and a host of lifelong friends who were touched by his special spirit.

David was predeceased Jan. 17, 1978, by his paternal grandfather, Bernard J. Demag Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church in Colchester. Burial is to be scheduled in the spring in Holy Family Cemetery in Essex Junction.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dave's memory may be made to the Essex Educational Center Wrestling Team, c/o Ed Hockenbury, 2 Educational Drive, Essex Junction, Vt. 05452.

The family will receive friends today, Monday, Feb. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel, 69 Pinecrest Drive, Essex Junction, Vt. 05452.

MARY ALICE ECKELMEYER

SOUTH HERO -- Mary Alice Eckelmeyer, 92, died peacefully Saturday morning, Feb. 8, 2003, at her home in South Hero, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Ithaca, N.Y., on Nov. 13, 1910, the daughter of Walter S. and Alice ( Theurer ) Ford.

She was a graduate of Drexel University with a B.S. in Home Economics. On Oct. 23, 1924, she married Albert F. Eckelmeyer in Yeadon, Pa. Mary and Albert traveled from their home in Yeadon to vacation in South Hero for over 45 years, making their permanent residence in South Hero 14 years ago.

Mrs. Eckelmeyer was very active with C.I.D.E.R. and in the Congregational Church of South Hero ( U.C.C.).

Surviving, in addition to her husband Albert, are her children, Judith A. Eckelmeyer and Beverly L. Moffet of Cleveland, Ohio, A. Frederick Eckelmeyer Jr., and his wife, Phyllis, of Doylestown, Pa., and the Rev. Susan Sirutis and her husband, Joseph, of Newtown, Pa.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Lodge of Pa.; and 10 nieces and nephews.

At Mrs. Eckelmeyer's request, her body will be donated to the University of Vermont, College of Medicine.

For those who wish, memorials may be made in Mary's memory to C.I.D.E.R., or to the Congregational Church of South Hero (U.C.C.).

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the Congregational Church in South Hero.

Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

WILLIAM C. PACKARD

SOUTH HERO -- William C. Packard, 66, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Feb. 6, 2003 at his home. Bill was born in Burlington on Sept. 1, 1936, the son of William E. and Lillian ( Jones ) Packard.

Mr. Packard married Laura Sheridan on July 1st in 1980 at the Sand Bar State Park in Milton. He was self employed as a painter. He was a former member of the Vt. Air National Guard, of the American Legion Post 100, of the RVA Post 514 and of the Loyal Order

of the Moose 1618 in Burlington.

In addition to his wife Laura of South Hero, Bill is survived by his mother Lillian Packard Taylor of Essex Center; his daughters Robin Copoulos of Fairfield, Rosemarie Bayham of Martinez, Calif.; by Laura's children, Brian Sheridan and his wife Lisa of Milton, Brad Sheridan and his wife Tina of South Hero, Todd Sheridan and his wife Debbie of Colchester and Tammy Pepin and her husband Greg of Georgia; and by nine grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his brothers Larry Packard and his wife Joanne, and Reginald Packard and his wife Frances, all of Essex Junction; and by his sister-in-law, Norma Packard of Colchester; and by several uncles, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by a grandson, Alex Copoulos, his brother Richard Packard, and his father William.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday Feb. 10, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will be in the South Hero Cemetery in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the So. Hero Rescue, P.O. Box 365, So. Hero, Vt. 05486 .

Visiting hours will be held Sunday Feb. 9, from 5-8 p.m. in the

Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

PATRICIA ANN McCULLOUGH

Patricia Ann McCullough, 77, died Friday, February 7, 2003, at Haven Health Care Nursing Home in St. Albans, Vt., where she has resided for the past several years.

Patricia was born on April 3, 1925, in Florence, Vt., the daughter of Eugene and Anna (Nelson) McCullough. She is survived by two sisters, Doris Kennedy of Fairhaveb, Mass., and Beverly Woodcare of Bradenton, Fla.; a step-sister, Edith Koster of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and by her step-mother, Edna McCullough; four brothers, William, Robert, Lloyd and Harry L. McCullough; and two step-brothers, Kenneth and James D. McCullough.

A graveside service will be held at the family's convenience in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford. Memorial contributions may be made to ARC, 128 Merchants Row, Suite 302, Rutland, VT 05701. Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford is handling arrangements.

AUDLEY CARBEE ROSA

SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. -- Audley Carbee Rosa, 80, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, in Safety Harbor, Fla. She was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Woodsville, N.H.

She attended a one-room school in Boltonville, Vt., and graduated from Newbury Vermont High School, where she was the only cheerleader.

Audley married Oresta (Pat) Romano Rosa in Newbury on Oct. 10, 1941.

Mrs. Rosa was in charge of the Young People's Organization of the Congregational Church in Island Pond. She worked as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in the Northeast Kingdom. She gave of her time and talents to many organizations throughout her life.

After retirement, Audley and Pat moved to Palm Beach, Fla., where she was in charge of the Ladies' Wednesday Bridge in Highland Lakes for over 20 years. Always a Boston Red Sox fan, she also became a high school bowler.

Audley was a loving and generous daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. She was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain.

She was predeceased by her parents, Theron J. (Buster) Carbee and Florence Carbee, and her husband of nearly 60 years, Oreste (Pat) Rosa. She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Rosa; and two sisters, Signa Carbee and Sandra Titus.

There will be no calling hours or service.

Contributions may be made in Audley's memory to First Congregational Church of Newbury, in care of Marlon Chamberlin, Newbury, Vt. 05051; or Tenney Memorial Library, in care of Sandra Titus, Trustee, Newbury, Vt. 05051.

JOHN W. "JACK" O'CONNOR

MAQUAM SHORE, SWANTON -- John W. "Jack" O'Connor, 52, a native of St. Albans and more recently of Swanton, died unexpectedly, Monday evening, Feb. 3, 2003, in his Maquam Shore residence. Jack had been in failing health over the past several weeks.

He was born in St. Albans, May 23, 1950, the son of the late John and Edna (Shutts) O'Connor. He graduated from Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans in 1968 and attended Champlain College. He graduated St. Michael's College in 1972 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in accounting and was associated for 15 years in the Accounting Department with IBM of Essex Junction.

Since living in Swanton Jack became a very faithful and devoted member of The Church of the Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary and spent many hours each week in volunteer service for the parish staff. He was presently serving on the parish finance committee and as a church greeter and usher and had formerly served as a member of the Social Action Committee and co-chairperson for the annual Bishop's Fund Campaign. He was also active and served as trustee for the Swanton Historical Society, a member of the Franklin County Democratic Party and a sponsor and member of the John Raleigh Memorial Field Committee.

Jack leaves two aunts, Ruth Clarkson of Massena, N.Y. and Ruth Welsh of Niceville, Fla.; five cousins, Stephen Shutts of Potsdam, N.Y., Skip Shutts of Massena, N.Y., Kristie Scheuer of Huntsville, Ala., Patty Mott of New Hampshire and Peggy Mott of Florida. Also surviving are many dear and devoted friends including Elaine and Francis L'Esperance, Gerri and Don Cobb, Wendy and Tony Castillo and Rene Fournier, all of Swanton, and Sue Jordan of St. Albans.

At Jack's request there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at 11 a.m. The pastor, Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Gifts in Jack's memory may be made to The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton, Vt. 05488, or to the Swanton Historical Society, in care of Ronald F. Kilburn, 11 Lake Street, Swanton, Vt. 05488.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.

CLYDE L. BUTTLES

ALBURG -- Clyde L. Buttles, 84, a resident of the Alburg community, died late Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, 2003 in the Northwestern Medical in St. Albans City.

Clyde was born in Hancock, Vt., Oct. 16, 1918, the son of the late George and Florence (Smith) Buttles. He attended Hancock elementary schools and on May 16, 1992, married the former Judy (Witham) Buttles who survives him.

Clyde was employed for many years at a former plywood manufacturing company in Randolph prior to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Judy W. Buttles, Clyde leaves a step-daughter, Tracy Letourneau and her husband Shaun of Alburg, and a step-son, Rodney Therrien, Jr. and his friend Crystal Sherrick of Alburg; two granddaughters, Dora Letourneau and Tara Letourneau of Alburg. He also leaves a very special nephew, George Buttles of Alburg; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

A graveside service will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Alburg at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003. Father Maurice U. Boucher, pastor of St. Amadeus Church in Alburg and director of the St. Anne Shrine in Isle La Motte will officiate.

Gifts in Clyde's memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association for Grand Isle County, 111 Prim Rd. Colchester, Vt. 05446, or the Alburg Vol. Fire and Rescue, Inc. P.O. Box 223, Alburg, Vt. 05440.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidder Memorial, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton.
