THOMAS C. DANDURAND, DVM

RICHFORD -- Thomas C. Dandurand, DVM, age 40, died unexpectedly March 5, 2003, in Richford. He was born Sept. 24, 1962, in Bedford, Quebec, Canada, the son of Alexis Dandurand and the late Jeannine (Potvin) Dandurand.

Thomas was a 1980 graduate of MVU High School in Swanton; he also attended Paul Smith's College for two years, Cornell University for two years, and University in Guelph, Ontario for five years. Thomas owned and operated two veterinary services, the Catamount Vet Service in Sheldon and the Richford Animal Clinic in Richford.

He is survived by his wife, Jane (Griffis) Dandurand of Irasburg; two sons, Reuben and Seth Dandurand; two daughters, Ruth-Ellen and Victoria Dandurand, all of Irasburg; his father, Alexis Dandurand of Franklin; his in-laws, Dawn and Mike Griffis of Canaan, N.H.; three brothers, Marc Dandurand, his wife Ann, and their children Angela, Amanda and Allison of Highgate; Dr. Louis Dandurand, his wife Kathryn, and their children Kai and Jade of Montgomery Center, and Eric Dandurand, his children, Jake and Lexa, and his companion Alyce Columb and her daughter Carle, all of Franklin; two sisters, Anne Dandurand and her companion Jean-Guy Provost of Montreal, Quebec, and Dr. Louise-Marie Dandurand, her husband, Dr. Guy Knudsen, and their children, Liam and Celine of Moscow, ID; a sister-in-law, Penny Gramling, her husband, Jack, and their sons, Jason and Corey of White River Junction; a former sister-in-law, Judy Dandurand of Franklin. He is also survived by his companion, Heather Taylor of Richford; several close friends, Bruno Lavoie, Gill Morin, Hailey Jewett, Dr. Sheryl Wilkins, Dr. Mark and Catherine Silverstein, Jeff Kinsey, and his wife Liz Nelson, Dr. Milton Robinson and Judy Royea.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Reverend Benedict Kiely officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Franklin. There will be no visiting hours.

For those who wish, contributions in his memory may be made to the Dandurand Children Trust Fund, c/o Banknorth Vermont, 12 Main St., Orleans, Vt. 05860.

WILLARD ALFRED "BILL" ZWEERES

ST. ALBANS CITY -- Willard Alfred "Bill" Zweeres, 51, a longtime St. Albans resident, passed away early Tuesday evening, March 4, 2003, at his Lake Street residence surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born in St. Albans, Sept. 3, 1951, the son of Alfred "Red" and Joyce (Richard) Zweeres.

Bill leaves his mother, Mrs. Joyce Zweeres of St. Albans Bay; three children, Tina Marie Minette of St. Petersburg, Fla., Beverly Tucker and her husband, Travis, of Lafayette, Ga. and Willard Alfred Zweeres Jr. and his fiancee, Marya, of St. Albans; six grandchildren, Terri Ann, Alexis Rose, Branden Michael, Justin Tyler, Ashley Victoria Ann and Adriana Rose; two sisters, Diane Therrien and her husband, Allen, of St. Albans Bay, and Donna Florio and her husband, Phillip, of St. Albans Bay; two brothers, Mark Zweeres and his wife, Lee, of Berkshire and Jeff Zweeres and his wife, Kathy, of Hudson, Fla. Bill also leaves behind his former wife, Maryann (Zweeres) Tubilino with whom he always remained friends; and his dearest and best friend, Edward Dudley of St. Albans; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Alfred "Red" Zweeres, on Sept. 19, 2001.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Leonidas B. Laroche, pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Parish in St. Albans will officiate. Spring interment will take place in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans City. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home on Saturday morning from 10 until the hour of the funeral.

Following the funeral services Bill's family wishes to invite everyone to a luncheon reception to be held at the home of Mrs. Joyce Zweeres, 17 Zweeres Road, (off the Lapan Bay Road), in St. Albans, Bay.

MARY KATHERYN ABELING

COLCHESTER/ST. ALBANS -- Mary K. Abeling, 48, of Whispering Pines in Colchester, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 1, 2003. She was born in St. Albans on Feb. 4, 1955, the daughter of the late Francis W. and Gladys C. (Wisher) Morse. Mary had been employed in the Quality Control Department of IBM for the past 23 years. She was a 1973 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Jessica and Zachary Struhs, and a beautiful granddaughter, Astanzi; her aunt and uncle, Charlotte and Lyle Jacobs of Fairfax, who were like parents to her; her best friend and soul mate, Brian; her brother, Tom Morse and his friend, Sam Nattress in Utah; her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Randy Walters; and two beautiful nieces, Lindsay and Randi Lynn, whom she adored. She also leaves her cousins, Bob Jacobs and his wife, Vicky, and Kim Klinefelter and her husband, Allen. She will be missed by her many close friends at IBM, Linda Boucher, Wanda McWilliams, Cindy DeMarinis, Rosalie Severly, Kim Guerro, and Bubba (Bob) and Marge Anderson. She was predeceased by her mother in 1960 and her father in 1989.

Mary was always helping her friends and family and was a very giving and generous person. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Oren Lane will officiate. Interment will be this spring in St. Albans Bay Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to The Scleroderma Foundation/New England, 462 Boston St., Suite 1-1, Topsfield, Mass. 01983.

Visitation will be on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until the time of the funeral.

Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.

IDA E. GOSSELIN

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Ida E. Gosselin, age 79, died early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2003, in the Holiday House ECF, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 25, 1923, daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Aurore M. (Gervais) Gadouas, in Fairfax.

Ida was a computer operator for the City of St. Albans, retiring in 1988 after over 28 years of service. She was the treasurer and faithful member of the Ladies of St. Anne for many years. Ida was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary unit 1, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit 758, the Franklin County Senior Center, and the Franklin County AARP.

She is survived by her three children, Gary Gosselin and his wife, Joan, of St. Albans, Glenn Gosselin and his wife, Diana, of Swanton, and Gail Gosselin of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Jessie, Trever, Loren, Stacy, and Joshua Gosselin; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Halston Moses; a brother, Leo Gadouas and his wife, Betty, of Venice Fla.; sisters-in-law Lena Gadouas and Norma Gadouas both of Swanton; brothers-in-law Maynard Gosselin and his wife, Rita, and Norman and his wife, Carmen, both of St. Albans; a close friend, Jack Bergeron; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Ernest Gadouas in 1974, and Armand Gadouas in 1996.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Gosselin family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

The Ladies of St. Anne will be conducting their Service for the Deceased Members at 3 p.m. Friday.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

LORRAINE MILDRED (CHURCH) FORTIN

ST. ALBANS -- Lorraine M. (Church) Fortin, 87, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Haven Health Care following an extended illness. She was born in St. Albans on June 14, 1915, the daughter of the late Robert and Bertha (Mayo) Church. She was married to Osburn P. Watson who died in 1938 and her second husband, Joseph Fortin died in 1971.

For many years Lorraine was a cook at the former Champlain Motel on South Main St. She enjoyed bingo and crocheting. She was a member of the Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veteran of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary and Women of the Moose, St. Albans Chapter 321.

Survivors include her son Phillip Watson and his wife, Rowaine, of St. Albans; two sisters, Mrs. Oren (Joyce) Thibault of St. Albans and Mrs. Ronald (Janice) Murphy of St. Albans and Florida; two granddaughters, Mrs. Harold (Sharon) Cross of St. Albans and Ms. Sheila Rose and her fiancé, Dean Bartemy of St. Albans; four great-grandchildren, Krystal Pouliot, Shawna Cross, Steven Pouliot and Sierra Rose; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husbands she was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Ladabouche and Gladys Cochran; and five brothers, Vernal, Neil, Lyle, Merle and Alden Church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Oren Lane of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Home Health, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.

WINNIE LYDIA THOMPSON

ENOSBURG FALLS -- Winnie Lydia Thompson, age 59, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. She was born in Richford Oct. 6, 1943, the daughter of the late Elmer and Ellareta (Pollander) Wetherby.

Winnie enjoyed knitting, shopping, bingo, helping Bob farm, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Thompson of Enosburg Falls; three sons, Robert Thompson and his wife, Tonya, of Berkshire, Randy Thompson and his friend Judy Brooks of Berkshire, and Rusty Thompson and his wife, Brenda, of Enosburg Falls; two daughters, Lori-Ann Lagro and her husband, Dave, of Berkshire, and Stacy-Lynn Delisle and her husband, Duane, of Bakersfield; a brother, Robert Wetherby of Richford; three sisters and their husbands, Lydia Lawyer and Larry Carr, Anne and Charles Loiselle, and Robin and Stuart Guyette, all of Richford; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Tanya Maskell.

Friends and relatives may call on the family one hour prior to the funeral which will be held Thursday morning at 10 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will be this spring in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery.

JOHN R. (JACK) BRANON, SR.

MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- John R. (Jack) Branon, Sr., 68, entered into rest on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, with his family at his side. He was born on April 26, 1934 in Fairfield.

A graduate of St. Michael's College in Winooski, he served in the Army. After his service in the Army he moved to California. He was a retired realtor, founder and owner of Branon Realty and was a long time resident of Morgan Hill, Calif.

He is survived by his wife Sally; sons, John Jr. and Todd. Jack was one of 10 children born to E. Frank and Mary Branon of Fairfield. He is survived by three brothers, The Reverend Phillip Branon of South Hero, Ralph Branon of Burlington, and Paul Branon of Acton, Mass.; and many relatives and close friends across the country. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Barry Branon, Francis Branon, Charlene Branon Cosgrove, Robert Branon, Rosemary Branon and Charles Branon.

Jack will be buried in Fairfield later this year. In lieu of flowers, please remember Jack with a donation to St. Andrews School Capital Campaign Fund, P.O. Box 2789, Saratoga, Calif. 95070.

ERIBERTO "ED" COBEO

FAIRFAX -- Eriberto "Ed" Cobeo, age 40, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington after a courageous battle to save his life from carbon monoxide poisoning. He was born in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NYC on March 31, 1962, son of Hector and Esther (Morales) Cobeo.

"Eri" relocated to Vermont and attended Burlington High School, followed by a degree in Business Administration from Johnson State College. Eriberto was a dedicated employee for Federal Express, the Green Mountain Coffee Division and was appreciated and loved by his fellow co-workers.

"Ed" will be remembered as a loving step-father and true friend, as well as a devoted mate to Judy M. Evans, who passed away Monday, March 3, 2003. He was a passionate man who loved fishing, cooking, gardening and loved the Green Mountains of Vermont. May God bless his soul and let him rest in peace.

He is survived by Judy Evans' family who Eri lovingly embraced as his extended family; his step-children, Julie Cross, and Danford James "DJ" Cross; his father, Hector Cobeo and his wife, Bertha; two brothers, Hector Cobeo and his wife Beatriz, and Wilfredo Cobeo and his wife, Enid; two sisters, Maybeline Cobeo, and Nilsa Garrett and her husband, Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Esther (Morales) Cobeo in October of 1981.

Visiting hours for both Eriberto and Judy will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Reverend John Feltz will offer a wake service at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the United Church of Fairfax with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Albans.

Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund to benefit DJ and Julie, c/o Peoples Trust Co., 26 Kingman St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478, Attn. Trust Dept.

Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax.
