HELEN T. COULOMBE

NORTHFIELD/ST. ALBANS -- Helen T. Coulombe, 76, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003, at the Four Seasons Community Care Home in Northfield following a lengthy illness. She was born in St. Albans, June 4, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mellina (Paquette) Coulombe.

Helen is survived by two sisters, Dorilla Shepard and Florida Menard both of Massachusetts. Beside her parents she was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Eugene and Arsene Coulombe and a sister, Yvonne Giroux.

A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, May 16, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Calvary Street, St. Albans, with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy of Holy Angels Church officiating.

Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

EVELYN V. PARRELLA

MILTON -- Evelyn V. Parrella, 78, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at her home with her loving family by her side. Evelyn was born in Bridgeport, Conn. on April 30, 1925, the daughter of Leo and Rose (Ellis) Marchand.

She was a graduate of the Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, Conn., with the class of 1943. During and after high school she worked at General Electric as a mechanical draftsperson. While there she met Alfred Parrella. She married Al on Oct. 27, in 1943. Together they were blessed with four children.

They later moved to Stamford, Conn. where she enjoyed her role as a housewife. In 1964, she began her next career, as a specialist with the Urban Redevelopment Commission in Conn., working there until retiring in August of 1985.

She and Al then moved to Milton, and for two years worked for the Shelburne Museum as a guide. Evelyn enjoyed dining out, taking drives around Vermont, reading, crocheting and wood crafts.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, shortly after their move to Milton.

She is survived by her children, Alfred Leo Parrella and his wife, Deborah Billado, of Essex Junction, Veronica Watson and her husband, Domonic, of Bethel, Conn., Yolanda Schlienz and her husband, Horst, of Oxford, Conn., and Jacqueline Parrella of New Haven, Conn.; by her grandchildren, Alfred, Allison and Ann, Sara, Jessica, Greg, Brian, Denise and Doris, Myra, Danny and Marc; her great-grandchildren Alica, Rachel, Erin, Justin, Sophia, Kaylin, Chase, Luke and Livianna; her close friends Susan Pinchot of Stamford, Conn., Diane Parrella of Milton and Larry and Charlie Cote, also of Milton, as well as her special neighbors on Streeter Brook Road in Milton.

She will also be missed by her pen pals Allan and Carole Lindsay, a Gulf War veteran, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sattler of Easport, Mi., and her two cats, Missy and George.

In addition to her husband, Alfred, Evelyn was predeceased by her brother, Frederick Marchand.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2003, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

At Evelyn's request there will be no funeral service, however friends are asked to share memories Tuesday evening at 6:30, during visiting hours in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

EUGENE R. 'FREDDIE' FREDETTE

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Eugene R. "Freddie" Fredette, age 79, died May 9, 2003, in Fletcher Allen Health Care, after a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Bellows Falls, son of the late Roland E. and Ada (Bundy) Fredette. He spent most of his life proudly serving his country with four years of service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and then 36 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer in 1980.

He married Jean Johnson, Dec. 12, 1958.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 and The Retired Officers Association (TROA).

As the "Mayor of Ashton Drive, " Freddie will be missed by his friends and neighbors. His wife, Jean, will always remember him as a beloved husband.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Pam Mulligan of Groton, Mass.; a son, Brian Fredette of St. Albans; six grandchildren, Chrissy Casey, Brenna Cotter and her husband, Michael, and Patrick Mulligan, Michael, Allison and Sam Fredette; one great-grandchild, Devin Casey-Bacon; a brother, Paul Fredette and his wife, Alicia, of St. Albans; a sister Kathleen Stewart of Essex; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, at 2 p.m.

Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society, 13 Loomis St., Montpelier, Vt. 05602.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

DAVID ERIC WALTON

SWANTON -- Mr. David Eric Walton, age 47, died unexpectedly at his home Friday, May 9, 2003. He was born the son of Robert and Marion (Chamberlin) Walton on Nov. 26, 1955 in St. Albans. His father pre-deceased him in 1998.

David served his country in the U.S. Navy. After returning from the military, he worked at the Sheldon Pulp Mill for a few years, and then was a Process Specialist for IBM for 22 years.

He married Carla Hemingway on July 2, 1982. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Enosburg Country Club, and will be remembered for his generous donations to many charities. His family will remember him as an avid golfer and Internet shopper.

Besides his wife, Carla, and his mother, Marion, he is survived by his two daughters, Marie Walton, and Sara Lamphere and her husband, Michael, all of Swanton; two grandsons, Brendan Daneau and Matthew Foss; his two brothers, Jay Walton and his wife, Kathy, of Huntsville, Ala., and Randy Walton and his wife, Julie, of Chester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his father, he was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, James and Barbara Pignona.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday evening, May 15, 2003, at 8 p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in David's memory are asked to consider the Franklin County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1031, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

RONALD F. MINER

SALINAS, Calif. -- Ronald F. Miner, 79, of Salinas, Calif., died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a stroke. He was born May 30, 1923, in St. Albans, Vt., and lived in Salinas for 56 years.

He was a captain in the Salinas Fire Department before retiring. He was a volunteer staff member for 28 years for Children's Services International. He loved all small animals and people and never met a person he didn't consider a friend.

Ronald was in the U.S. Navy, serving throughout the South Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6849, International Association of Firefighter, and Children's Services International.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Miner, of Salinas, Calif.; son, Darren Miner of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter, Roni O'Connell of Salinas, Calif.; brother, Donald Miner of Burlington, Vt.; and grandchildren, Justin, Kelley, and Ryan O'Connell, all of Salinas, Calif..

Funeral services took place on Friday, May 9, at the mortuary chapel of Struve and Laporte Funeral Home in Salinas. Entombment with military honors followed at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Monterey County, P.O. Box 3058, Monterey, CA 93942.

RENAULD J. "RAY" PELLETIER

ST. ALBANS -- Renauld J. "Ray" Pelletier, 72, passed away Thursday evening, May 8, 2003, in the Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in Meriden, Conn., July 1, 1930, the son of the late Alcid and Eva (Dubay) Pelletier. On Aug. 1, 1953, in Wallingford, Conn. he married Ann Sockol, who survives him. Ann and Ray moved to St. Albans 10 years ago from Denver, Colo.

Ray served in the United State Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Besides his family and friends his greatest enjoyment was woodworking.

In addition to his wife, Ann of St. Albans, he is survived by a son, Richard, of Denver, Colo.; and a daughter, Jackie, of St. Albans; a sister, Marcella Rossi, and her husband, Thomas of Wallingford, Conn.; two grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron Crego of Michigan; a brother- in-law, a sister-in-law; two nieces and a nephew, all of Denver, Colo. He also leaves his extended family, Larry and Grace King, Trudy and Darrick Norris, Betty Norris, Trudy Swoyer and George and Margaret Lennington.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Intensive Care Unit of the Northwestern Medical Center for the care that Ray received.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.

RICHARD S. "KAISER" ELKINS

MONTGOMERY -- Richard S. "Kaiser" Elkins, age 91, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at the Holiday House Nursing Home in St. Albans with his family at his side. Richard was born April 7, 1912, in Montgomery, the son of the late Burt and Lillian (Kennett) Elkins.

Richard was a life long resident of Montgomery where he was a member of the Montgomery Community Baptist Church and was a former member of the Masons. He drove the horse drawn school barge when he was a teenager and was employed by W. Chaffee for many years as a mechanic, pulp truck driver and helped with sugaring. He also worked for Arthur St. Onge farming and as a mechanic. He was also Road Commissioner for the Town of Montgomery for several years.

He is survived by four sons, Richard Elkins and his wife, Linda, of Colchester, Lyndol Elkins and his wife, Lila, of Montgomery, Francis Elkins and his wife, Linda, of Montgomery, and Rocky Elkins and his friend Lori Gaudette of Enosburg Falls; three daughters, Elaine Sheltra and her friend Carmen Mayhew of Richford, Charlotte Parent and her husband, Raymond, of Enosburg Falls, and Brenda Ostrout and her husband, Joseph, of Montgomery; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Burton Donna of Enosburg Falls and Robert Donna of Highgate; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorcas (Donna) Elkins. They had been married for 64 years. He was also predeceased by a sister, Ruth Fitch, and a grandson, Keith Noyes.

In keeping with Richard's wishes, he will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Montgomery Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Patterson of the Northside Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Montgomery Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

THERESA M. BOMBARDIER

SWANTON -- Mrs. Theresa M. Bombardier, 76, a longtime Grand Avenue resident, died early Thursday morning, May 8, 2003, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City following a lengthy illness.

Theresa was born in St. Albans, Oct. 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Julius and Delia (Poupore) Trombly. She graduated from Bellows Free Academy -- St. Albans with the Class of 1945. On Jan. 10, 1959 she was married to Claude Bombardier, who survives her.

Theresa was known throughout the area as the Swanton Cake lady, who for 29 years made beautiful cakes for all occasions. She had also previously worked for the former City Drug Store in Swanton and F. W. Woolworth in St. Albans. She was a member of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a life member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 321, St. Albans.

In addition to her husband, Claude, of 44 years, Theresa leaves a son, Mark Bombardier and his companion, Jennifer Jette, of Swanton; and daughter, Susan Morris and her husband, Roger, and their two children, Kristine and Shawn all of Fairfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her three brothers, Leonard, Clarence "Tom, " and Adrian "Babe" Trombly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 12, 2003, at 11 a.m. from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, director of St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Bombardier family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Sunday, May 11, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Gifts in Theresa's memory may be made in the form of Masses or to the Alzheimer's Association, 338 Rivers St., Montpelier, Vt. 05602.
