JOSEPH ALLEN GLICK

SWANTON/MULBERRY, Ind. -- Joseph Allen Glick, 83, died early Tuesday morning, July 29, 2003, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Lucretia and Dennis Lajueness on Broadway Street in Swanton Village.

A native of Mulberry, Ind., Mr. Glick has resided in the St. Albans and Swanton areas for the past nine years. He served his country during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era in the United States Air Force. He was discharged as a Master Sergeant after nearly 25 years of faithful service. He and his family also lived in the San Antonio, Texas area for 30 years and he was active there in St. John's United Methodist Church and the Scottish Rite of the Shriners. In Mulberry, Ind. he was a member of the local Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. Most recently he was a parishioner of the Northside Baptist Church in St. Albans Town.

Mr. Glick was born in Mulberry, Ind., Dec. 26, 1919, the son of the late Floyd J. and Osea Lucretia (Peter) Glick. He graduated from Mulberry High School and attended two years of Business College. On Dec. 29, 1947, he married the former Virginia Lorraine Deer who predeceased him on March 10, 1989.

He leaves two sons, Floyd J. Glick and his wife, Gwen Kuklewicz of St. Albans and Stephen H. Glick and his wife Linda of Evergreen, Colo.; and his daughter, Lucretia Lajueness and her husband Dennis of Swanton; four granddaughters; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Virginia he was predeceased by a son, Joseph Allen Glick II in 1979; as well as two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held later this week from the Bodine Funeral Home, 204 North Glick Street, Mulberry, Ind. 46056, telephone: 1-888-508-3411. Interment will follow in the family lot in Fair Haven Cemetery.

GLENNA W. McCUIN

WILLISTON -- Glenna Wells McCuin passed away peacefully Monday, July 26, 2003, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston. She was born in Huntington on March 12, 1923, the eldest of three daughters born to George and Erma (Kenyon) Brace. She attended schools in Huntington and Burlington, graduating a honor student from Burlington High School in 1941.

Glenna married Merlin Wells of Marshfield, Vt. on May 23, 1941. They raised four sons and a daughter together until Merlin passed away April in 1964. Over the years, the family lived in Highgate, Milton, and Plainfield.

On Oct. 29, 1966, following the sale of the Wells farm in Plainfield, Glenna married Charles A. McCuin, to whom she was wedded for 36 years until his passing on May 11, 2003, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Glenna loved the outdoors, animals, birds and flowers. She took special delight in gardening, the berrying seasons, and going barefoot in the summers. She was a good mother, a great cook, and a devoted wife. Glenna was an avid reader, and her entire life was a learning experience.

Glenna's greatest joy was in her loving family. She was very proud of all her children, step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She sought to instill a sense of duty and personal responsibility in each family member.

She is survived by four sons, Duane (Carol) Wells of Montpelier, David Wells of Highgate Center, Dale (Judy) Wells of St. Johnsbury, and Douglas (Barbara) Wells of Greenwich, Conn.; two stepsons, Charles O. (Nicha) McCuin of Pittsford, and Sherrill "Sam" (Ruth) McCuin of Georgia; and a stepdaughter, Betsy (Bill) Pakeman of Ontario, Canada. She is also survived by a sister, Norene Neville of Middletwon, Conn.; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her only daughter, Kathleen Staplin in 1995; and a sister, Madine George in 1994.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Georgia United Methodist Church, Route 7, Georgia Center, with the Reverend Sam Newton officiating. Interment to follow in the Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, Vt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Champion United Methodist Church, c/o Susan Emerson, Treasurer, 19986 County Route 47, Carthage, N.Y. 13619.

SHARON A. MASKELL

ST. ALBANS -- Sharon A. Maskell, 48, died unexpectedly Monday morning, July 28, 2003. Sharon was born on Jan. 5, 1955 in Burlington, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Peters) Sturgeon.

She is survived by her daughter Stacey Demore; her son Curtis Demore; and by her mother, Betty Sturgeon, all of Milton; by her sister Patrica Stone and her husband Larry, with whom she made her home, of St. Albans; her brother Robert Sturgeon and his wife, Linda, of Franklin; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father in 2002.

At Sharon's request, there will not be any visiting hours. A gathering celebrating Sharon's life will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at 3 p.m. in the Dragstrip Bingo Hall in Milton.

Memorials may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses, in care of Stacey Demore, at 12 Shirley Ave., Milton, Vt. 05468.

Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

BYRON F. WOODWORTH

WESTFORD -- Byron Frank Woodworth, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 25, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born in Burlington on Oct. 20, 1932, son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Germaine) Woodworth. He married the former Margaret Learned on Aug. 27, 1955 in Westford.

Byron enjoyed working with wood. Over the years he was employed with a lumber mill and in his later years continued working with wood as a carpenter. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Woodworth of Westford; a son, Steven Woodworth of Colchester and daughter-in-law Lorri Woodworth of Winooski; four daughters, Susan Evans and her husband John of Florida, Connie Woodworth of Hinesburg, Donna Marcotte and her husband Jeffrey of Colchester, and Linda Woodworth of Westford; two brothers, a twin brother, Myron Woodworth of Essex, and Leland Woodworth and his wife Nicole of St. Albans; a sister, Barbara Deaette of Florida; five grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also predeceased by a sister, Norma Cutting.

Visiting hours will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Cousino of the Jericho United Pentecostal Church officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Westford Plains Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Byron's memory to Essex Rescue, P.O. Box 124, Essex Jct., Vt 05452.

Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax.

RONALD L. BROOKS

KINGSTON, N.H./ST. ALBANS, Vt. -- Ronald L. Brooks, 69, of Babscott Lane, died Friday, July 11, 2003, in Exeter Hospital, following a sudden illness.

He was born March 29, 1934, in Swanton, the son of the late Maurice L. and Marion M. (St. Pierre) Brooks, and had resided in Kingston, N.H. for four years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Brooks was employed by Lucent Technologies, retiring in 1987 after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lois (Allred) Brooks of Kingston, N.H.; and one sister, Joan Pion and her husband, Bert Pion, of Fairfield; four nieces, Patricia Gebo of St. Albans, Rose Peno of Sheldon, Karen Pion of Fairfield; and Marguerite Borivicka of Westfield, Mass.; one nephew, Francis Wade of Thulavista, Calif., and their families.

He was predeceased by one sister and two brothers, Marion B. Greenwood, Paul C. Brooks, and Albert L. Brooks.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St., Manchester, N.H. 03101.

RITA F. CHERRIER

ST. ALBANS -- Rita F. Cherrier, 81, passed away Saturday evening, July 26, 2003, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care with her family at her side. She was born in Fletcher, Vermont, April 11, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry and Inez (Danforth) King. She was married to Edmund P. Cherrier who predeceased her on April 18, 1995.

Rita was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax and retired from the Fonda Container Corporation. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her outings to the Casino in Montreal. Rita was a member of the Franklin County Senior Citizens, the Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Cline and her husband, George, Sr., of Swanton; two sons; Mark Cherrier of Swanton and Gary Cherrier of St. Albans; a brother, Robert King and his wife, Theresa, of Fairfax; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Cherrier of St. Albans; her mother-in-law; Alma Cherrier of St. Albans; six grandchildren, Julie Rice, Betsy Fournier, Amy Cherrier, Melissa Cherrier, Chantel Cline and Allison Cline; seven great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Joan Sherman of St. Albans. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Morey; brother-in-law, Donald Cherrier; and father-in-law, Earl Cherrier.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans, with the Reverend Oren Lane of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the family lot in Binghamville Cemetery in Fletcher.

PHYLLIS MAE LEMNAH

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Phyllis Mae Lemnah, 80, a lifelong area resident, passed away Saturday evening, July 26, 2003, at Haven Health Care following a long illness. She was born in Highgate on May 12, 1923, the daughter of the late Donald and Clara (Firkey) King. She was the widow of Walter C. Lemnah who died on Sept. 17, 1980.

Phyllis was a 1944 graduate of the St. Albans Hospital School of Nursing and was office nurse for Dr. Robert J. Catlin for 23 years and at Dr. John R. Carmola's for 8 years. She was also a volunteer school nurse at the St. Albans City Elementary School for 13 years and a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Bank. She enjoyed caring for her home and grounds.

Survivors include a brother, Wayne D. King and his wife Donna of Pfafftown, N.C.; a sister, Doris A. Lemnah of Brattleboro; a very special friend who was like a son to her, John Boomhover and his wife Debbie of St. Albans; a niece, Becky Tanielian and her husband, Steve and their children of Underhill; two nephews, Donald King and his wife Robin and their children also of Underhill, and Gary Laidman and his wife Jennifer and their children of Buffalo, N.Y.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Oren Lane of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Lemnah family lot at Highgate Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the hour of the funeral at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St.

JAMES R. "PIEDOG" FELISKO

ST. ALBANS -- James Ronald Felisko, 17, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday, July 24, 2003. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn. on Aug. 30, 1985, the son of Ronald and Cindy (Sabins) Felisko.

He was a student at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, studying Radio & TV Marketing. He enjoyed writing, listening to I.C.P. and other music, playing basketball, and hanging out with his friends on South Elm Street. He had been employed at Pappy's Hobby Shop, and Pop Zero Galaxy. In Florida, he was a member of the YMCA Pilot Basketball Program of the Orlando Magic Team.

Survivors include his mother, Cindy and her friend David Bansner of Georgia; his father, Ronald Felisko of Melbourne, Fla.; his sister, Amber Beth Felisko of Georgia; his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Sabins of Fairfield, Conn.; his paternal grandmother, Helen Felisko of Stratford, Conn.; aunts and uncles, Jane and Tom Weldon of Milford, Conn., Sharon and Freddie Dapp of Stratford, Conn., Gary Sabins of Shelton, Conn., Christopher and Lori Sabins of Jacksonville, Fla., Glenn Felisko of Stratford, Conn., and Gregg and Sherri Felisko of Milford, Conn. Also, numerous cousins and many special friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Allen Sabins; his paternal grandfather, George Felisko; and his special grandfather, John Laczko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Saturday) July 26, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will be in the Sabins family lot at Eldredge Cemetery in South Burlington. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St.
