NATALIE S. (BURT) CUTTING

WATERVILLE -- Natalie Susan (Burt) Cutting, 89, a lifelong resident of Waterville, passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. She was born in Belvidere, Vt. on May 12, 1914, daughter of the late Carrie (Amidon) and William H. Burt, Sr. Natalie graduated from Cambridge High School, Class of 1932. She married Mervin M. Cutting on June 25, 1936, in Essex Junction. Mervin predeceased her on Jan. 20, 1994.

Natalie was a devoted Postal Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. She loved to knit, attend craft show sales, and read. Natalie also enjoyed nurturing her flowers and vegetable plants in her greenhouse. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Natalie will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

She is survived by two sons, Dayton Cutting and his wife Juanita of Jeffersonville, and Duane Cutting and his wife Linda of Waterville; two daughters, Shirley Lanpher and her husband Wendel of Waterville, and Sandra Machia and her husband Donald of Waterville; one brother, Douglas Burt and his wife Evelyn of Waterville; a sister-in-law, Mary Burt of Waterville; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also predeceased by a brother, William Burt; and two sisters, Opal Lafountain, and Muriel Stebbins.

Per Natalie's wishes there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service with interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, in Mountain View Cemetery, Waterville with the Reverend Doris Barup officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Natalie's memory to Lamoille Home Health & Hospice, 54 Farr Ave., Morrisville, Vt. 005661.

Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax.

ARTHUR J. RANDALL, JR.

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. -- Arthur J. Randall, Jr., 81, of Woodside Drive, North Haven, Conn., died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. Fuller Randall. He was born in Norwich on May 12, 1922, son of the late Arthur J. Sr. and Nellie Wooding Randall.

He had worked for Eastern Fuel for over 55 years until his retirement. He had also worked full time for Hickory Hill Orchard of Cheshire for over 25 years. He was a member of the North Haven Grange 35, was maintenance engineer for the North Haven Fair, was an avid duck pin bowler since his teens, and was a lifelong member of the North Haven Congregational Church.

Arthur was the father of Barbara A. Bouffard and her husband, Joseph, of St. Albans, Vt., D. Emily Alexander and her husband, John, of Wallingford, Heather M. Moomaw of Winchendon, Mass., Arthur J. Randall III and his wife, Ruth, of North Haven, Charles E. Randall and his wife, Trisha of East Haven, and the late Nancy A. Honyotski; grandfather of James and David Bouffard, Thomas, Michael and Brian Honyotski, Heidi and Brandon Moomaw, Jennifer, Patrick and Kaitlin Randall; brother of Barbara Jodry of Sacramento, Calif., Lawrence Randall of Chaplin, Conn., Alfred Randall of Warren, Mass., and the late Howard Randall. Arthur is also survived by three great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog, "Duchess."

A funeral service was held in the North Haven Congregational Church, Monday morning. Interment followed in the Centerville Cemetery in Hamden.

EXILDA G. MURRAY

HIGHGATE CENTER -- On Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, she was called to be with her husband and children who predeceased her. She was surrounded with the love of her daughters and the staff of Redstone Villa Nursing Home.

Exilda was born on July 14, 1906, in Lemieux, Ont., the daughter of Arthur and Myra (Bray) Bissonnette. On Oct. 25, 1925, she became the wife of Thomas L. Murray, who predeceased her on April 14, 1992. From this marriage they created Paul L. Murray, Prospect, Conn., Alma C. Casselman, Liverpool, N.Y., Jane E. Trombly, Menands, N.Y., Betty A. Pearce, Knoxville, Tenn. and Pauline D. Murray, Highgate Springs, Vt. She was predeceased by two children, Maurice and Janet. She is survived by two brothers, Lyle and Donald Bissonnette and one sister, Jeanne Parenteau and predeceased by Claudia Chevrier, Eugene and Henry Bissonnette. She had 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Exilda and Tom spent the early part of their marriage in Vermont in the farming community, and they relocated to Connecticut, where they resided for many years. She worked beside her husband on the farm raising her children. Upon their retirement they returned to Highgate Center where they owned and operated a mobile home park on Lamkin Street. She was a lady who faced numerous challenges in life with strength and dignity. Whenever life presented a bump in the road she met it head on with wit and her belief in God. You could always count on her straight forwardness, honesty and wisdom to guide you through your path. The people that she touched in her lifetime were left with a lasting impression.

She was a resident of Redstone Villa for three years. During that time she was cared for and loved by all the staff. The family would like to express a special thank-you to the management and staff for their compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. The pastor, Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant. Father David Kiyingi, assisting priest at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Parish in St. Albans, will con-celebrate and deliver the homily. Interment will follow in the Murray family lot in St. Louis Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Wednesday morning from 9 until 10 a.m.

Following the interment all are invited to a luncheon reception celebrating Exilda's life at the home of her daughter Pauline Murray, 4205 Rollo Road in Highgate Springs.

CARLTON J. BOVAT

GEORGIA, Vt. / HOBE SOUND Fla. -- Mr. Carlton "Carl" Joseph Bovat, age 87, died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2003, in the Haven Health Care Center, following a short illness. Carl was born in East Highgate, son of the late Emilia (Shor) and Paul Bovat.

He was educated at St. Anne's Academy in Swanton. Most of his working life he was a millwright for the Scovill Company in New Milford, Conn., and retiring in 1973, to Florida. Carl discovered the joy of volunteering through Habitat for Humanity at the age of 84. In February of 2001, he received a Certificate of Appreciation for over 200 hours of volunteer service. Carl treasured that certificate and showed it off proudly.

Three years ago Carl moved back to Vermont to be with his son and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Martha Kirt of Hobe Sound, Fla., and by his son Carlton "Bud" and his wife Mishie Bovat of Georgia; a brother, Kenneth Bovat of Hudson, N.Y.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Janet (Juaire) Bovat; a brother; and a great grandson.

Carl's family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Club Respite for their compassion and love they so willingly shared with Dad.

Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Rd., Palm City, Fla., at 1 p.m. Saturday. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral, Saturday in the Forest Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bovat Family lot in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to the Club Respite, P.O. Box 515, St. Albans Bay, Vt. 05481-0515. Arrangements are locally entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and in Florida to the Forest Hills Funeral Home.

DAVID A. DESJARDIN JR.

ST. ALBANS/BURLINGTON - David Allen Desjardin Jr., 24, died unexpectedly in Fletcher Allen Health Care on Friday, Aug. 22, 2003. He was born May 20, 1979, in Burlington, the son of David Desjardin Sr. of St. Albans and Lynnelle Jennings of Florida.

He attended Burlington High School. On Aug. 8, 2003, in St. Albans, he married Danielle Bushey. David enjoyed sports, music, cars, animals and time spent with his family and friends, especially with his little sister, Samantha.

David is survived by his loving wife, Danielle, and their unborn child that is expected in October; his mother, Lynnelle; his father, David A. Sr., who considered his son to be the light of his life; his paternal grandmother, Lucille Desjardin; his maternal grandparents, Jean and Bob Hardy; Danielle's parents, Patricia and Michael Bushey; his sisters, Iona "Shannon" Grant and Samantha Desjardin; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the surrounding area. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Walter Desjardin Sr., in 1996; and close friend, Louis Marrier, in 1999.

He will be remembered for his kind and wonderful personality. He touched many lives and everyone will miss him.

Visiting hours are this evening, Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, 71 S. Union St., Burlington, with a memorial service to be conducted at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in the name of Danielle Desjardin, c/o Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 182, Burlington, Vt. 05402, to be used for a trust fund for Danielle and the baby.

CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL FITZGERALD

HIGHGATE CENTER, Vt. / INDEPENDENCE, MO. -- Christopher Michael FitzGerald, 39, formerly of Highgate Center, Vt. and Independence, Mo. died on Friday, Aug. 8, 2003. Christopher was born Dec. 24, 1963, in Kansas City, Mo.

Chris graduated from Raytown South High School in 1981. He had been a mechanic for most of his life. He was attending classes in Vermont for certification in the computer field.

Chris' survivors include his four children, Danielle FitzGerald of Lee's Summit, Mo., Samantha and Nicholas FitzGerald of Kansas City, Mo., and Erin FitzGerald of Highgate Center, Vt. He leaves behind his long-time partner, Cheryl Varin of Highgate Center.

Chris was a very proud and loving father. His children will miss him very much. They were his proudest accomplishments.

Chris also leaves behind his biological father, Linden Francis and step-mother Connie of Independence, Mo.; his mother, JoAnn FitzGerald and his adoptive father, Skip of Tennessee; his sister and brother-in-law Vicki and Dan O'Brien of Lee's Summit, Mo.; his brother and sister-in-law, Vince and Cindi Francis, of Salt Lake City, Utah.; his brother Shawn and his wife Heather FitzGerald of Grimes, Iowa; his sister Shannon FitzGerald of Raymore, Mo.; his step-brother and his wife, Bob and Melisa Gotway of Lee's Summit, Mo.; his maternal grandmother, Mildred Behen of Lee's Summit, Mo.; his paternal grandmother Nellie Resch of Blue Springs, Mo.; and his maternal step-grandmother Frances Coil of Independence, Mo. Chris also left behind several nieces and nephews.

Chris was cremated in Vermont and a graveside service will be held in Missouri at a later date.

ANN M. (SANDBERG) FOX

FAIRFAX -- Ann M. (Sandberg) Fox died peacefully at her home Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003. She was born in Providence, R.I., daughter of the late Silas N. and Cecilia M. (Flynn) Sandberg and was raised in Norwich, Conn.

Ann received her Ph.D in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1972. She worked at the Library of Congress and retired after 20 years of service. Ann also taught at the University of Illinois, The Catholic University of America, and the University of Maryland. She was actively involved in professional library associations until her death.

She is survived by her husband Robert of Fairfax; her son Thomas of New York City; her sister Patricia Bosanko and her husband William of Calif.; a special cousin, Mary Carrol Fitzgerald of Norwich, Conn.; and two nieces and a nephew.

Visiting hours will be held today, Aug. 25, 2003, at Hayes-Rich Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cambridge, with the Reverend John McDermott officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery in Fairfax.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ann's memory to Franklin County Home Health and Hospice, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478, or the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St. Fairfax.

ELIZABETH "BETTY" (WAGNER) WILCOX

CAMBRIDGE -- Elizabeth "Betty" (Wagner) Wilcox, 80, of Cady Hill Road, Cambridge, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Colchester, Vt., one of five children of the late Robert B. and Roxie (Hulburd) Wagner. Betty graduated from Cambridge High School in 1941.

Betty married Reginald Burns Wilcox of Cambridge, Sept. 21, 1942, on Cady Hill at their future home. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Reginald, on Nov. 14, 1997, after 55 years of marriage. Betty spent most of her time making a home for her husband and three children on the family farm in Cambridge. She was actively involved in the community as an Auditor for the Town of Cambridge, and bookkeeper for the hot lunch program at Cambridge Elementary School as well as a bookkeeper for Cambridge Co-operative Lockers. Betty was an active member of Cambridge United Church and the Women's Fellowship, devoting her time as their Bookkeeper. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her three children, Reginald B. Wilcox, Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, of Cambridge, Carol W. Gray and her husband, Kenneth, of Jericho, and Richard B. Wilcox, Sr. and his wife, Theresa, of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Reginald B. Wilcox, III and his wife, Kristin, of Millis, Mass., Erica S. Wilcox and her fiance, David Smith, of Lowell, Mass., Robert S. Gray and his wife, Awo, of West Lebanon, N.H., Michael S. Gray and his wife, Beth, of Fairfax, and Serena A. Wilcox and Richard B. Wilcox, Jr. both of Cambridge; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Megan, and Destiny; her younger brother, John Wagner and his wife, Mary, of Vergennes; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Richard H. Wagner who died in Korea as a POW in 1951, Robert B. Wagner in 1981, and her only sister, Marjorie (Wagner) Allen in 1999.

Betty's family wishes to thank Dr. Deborah Richter and staff of Cambridge Health Center for their dedicated medical care over the past two years and emotional support.

Visiting hours were held on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Hayes-Rich Funeral Home. Funeral services were held today, Aug. 25, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, Fairfax, with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Interment followed in the family lot in Mountain View Cemetery, Cambridge.

Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Ave., Morrisville, Vt. 05661, or the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 13 Loomis St., Montpelier, Vt. 05602.
