AUDREY LORRAINE MARTIN

SWANTON, VT./ALEXANDRIA, VA. -- Mrs. Audrey Lorraine Martin, 78, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, in the Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Va.

She was born in Alexandria, Va. May 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Ellis and Rena (Hedges) Langford. On June 23, 1944, she married Leonard Joseph Martin who predeceased her in 1975. She lived most of her married life in Swanton, Vt. and for the past twenty years has lived back in Alexandria.

She is survived by three sons, Leonard Martin, Jr. and his companion Joyce Cassidy, Arnold Martin and his wife Susan, and Donald Martin and his wife Debbie, all of Swanton; her daughter Diana Loyer of Swanton; a daughter-in-law of thirty years, Linda Martin of Swanton; three sisters, Adelean Nolan, Margaret Pushkar and Edna Mudd, all of Alexandria, Va.; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Ellis Langford.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2001, at 10 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Interment will follow in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home on Friday, March 23, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Gifts in Mrs. Martin's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.

ALVIN C. WRIGHT

JEFFERSONVILLE -- Alvin Carey Wright, age 75, a lifelong resident of Jeffersonville, passed away at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington Monday afternoon, March 19, 2001.

He was born Aug. 29, 1925 in Jeffersonville, Vt., son of the late Samuel J. and Myrtle (Minor) Wright. He married the former Luella Minor of East Fairfield on Feb. 20, 1946 in Morrisville, Vt. She predeceased him on Oct. 1, 1998. He worked for many years on road construction with the Town of Cambridge. Alvin loved Vermont's Green Mountains and had a great appreciation for the great outdoors of Vermont which afforded him the many successful deer seasons he so enjoyed. As a member of the National Rifle Association he always looked forward to attending the local gun shows. He also enjoyed attending the Vermont fiddler contests whenever possible. Most of all he loved and appreciated the special times shared with his family and their children at his home in South Cambridge. His home was where he was always comfortable, nestled in a community he knew so well, where he was born and raised. Alvin will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by two daughters, Laura Tipper and her husband Paul of Fairfax, Phyllis Maxfield and her husband Reverend Steven Maxfield of Essex Jct.; a sister, Catherine Thomas of Essex Jct.; three grandchildren, Lee Roberge of Jeffersonville, Nicole Brown and her husband Patrick of Avon, Colo., Paulette Tipper of St. Albans; a great grandsons, Jacob Rivers of Jeffersonville; his "adopted" family, Herman and Caroline Lambertz of Jeffersonville and Peter Hospodar of Jeffersonville; special friends, Beverly Boyer of Milton, Roger and Marilyn Ressigue of Jeffersonville; several nieces and nephews and his most faithful companion, Rowdy.

Visiting hours will be held today, Wednesday, March 21, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hayes-Rich Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2001, at 11 a.m. in The Second Congregational Church in Jeffersonville with son-in-law Reverend Steven Maxfield officiating. Interment will be in the spring in the family lot in South Cambridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Alvin's memory to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, VT 05661.

Arrangements are by The Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax.

MERTON A. MASON

MINERVA, N.Y. ­ Merton A. Mason, 82, died early Saturday afternoon, March 17, 2001, at Adirondack Tri-Country Nursing Home in North Creek.

Born Jan. 19, 1919, in Montgomery, Vt., he was the son of the late Orlin and Nellie Mae Tatro Mason. Mr. Mason was a veteran of World War II. He served as a Ranger in the 29th Infantry at Omaha Beach in the Normandy invasion. He served from May 14, 1942 until Oct. 22, 1945.

He was employed as a welder at NL Industries in Tahawas for 31 years. Mr. Mason was a resident of Minerva since 1961. He was an avid sportsman and a longtime member of the NRA.

A brother, Robert Mason died before him.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Shirley Sweet Mason of Minerva; two daughters, Myrna and her husband John Martell of St. Albans, Vt. and Deanna and her husband Dale Gonyea of Bloomingdale; one brother, Roger and his wife Ruby Mason of Igarna; one sister, Judy and her husband Lawrence Lovelette of St. Albans, Vt.; 10 grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, Schroon Lake.

Cremation will follow at Pine View Crematory in Queensbury. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to Minerva Rescue Squad, Minerva, NY 12851.

MIGNONE "BOUDREAU" PONTON CYR

BEDFORD, QUEBEC -- Mignone "Boudreau" Ponton Cyr, a resident of Bedford, Quebec, died Friday, March 9, 2001, following a brief illness. She was born in Sutton, Quebec Dec. 6, 1907, daughter of Ernest and Natalie "Couture" Boudreau.

She is survived by two sons, Roland Audet and wife Clarise and daughter Diane of Bedford, Quebec, Urbain Ponton and Hugette of St. Jean Quebec, children, Carole, Patsy and Daniel; two daughters, Pauline Hlipko of Labrador, New Foundland and daughter Vickie of Ontario, Marie Paula and husband Leo Verville of Stanbridge East Quebec, children Jean Paul, Michel, Mario, Jocelyne, Monique, Liette, Micheline, Jackie's daughters, Susan Ricco and Judie Wiese of Spokane, Wash.; three stepdaughters, Alice and Woody Rouse of Highate, children Paulette Unwin, Woody, Jr., Debbie Rouse and Linda Turner; Gisele Nolan of St. Albans, daughter Brenda and son Bruce Nolan; Jayne Grenon and Chuck of Watervliet, Mich., daughter Claire Kinthen and son Mark Normanden; great grandchildren, Melissa Miner, Emily Morris, Sara Rouse, David and great grandson, Jonathan Rouse, Zakary Potter, Samantha Getty, Andrea and Travis Kinthen, Danny and Julia Besset, Joshua Lackey, Camelia Normanden, Melissa and Megean Wiese, Joshua Ricco, Tony, Melissa, Travis, James, Patty, Christy, Shawn Verville. Melanie and Dennis Joulet, Andree Ann Ponton. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gabriel Ponton, son Andre, daughter Jackie Sandor, second husband Raymond Cyr, great grandson John Miner, Adams Verville, son-in-law George "Wesley" Nolan.

EUGENE A. ROCHELEAU

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Eugene A. Rocheleau, age 83, died Friday afternoon, March 16, 2001, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care following a brief illness. He was born in St. Albans Town Feb. 27, 1918, son of the late Joseph and Mamie (Constantine) Rocheleau. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. Eugene was employed at Wirthmore Feeds for over 25 years and later for Agway Feed Company for about 15 years. He married Florence M. Lasnier May 4, 1940. Mrs. Rocheleau died March 10, 1997.

His survivors include his two daughters and their spouses, Jeannette and Joseph Messier of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Louise and Steven Little of St. Albans; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Messier, Laurie Little, Catherine Little, Jennifer Messier; three great grandchildren, Joshua, Brandon and Jonathan Messier; a sister Irene Brodeur of St. Albans, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Florence in March of 1997, his son Jean in June of 1945, and his brother Henry in September of 1965.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. At his request there will be no public visiting hours. Interment will be in the Rocheleau family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Those planning an expressin of sympathy are asked to have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for his intentions. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

ELEANOR A. GUAY

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Eleanor A. Guay, age 86, died Thursday afternoon, March 15, 2001, in Redstone Villa, where she had resided for the past two years. Eleanor was born in St. Albans Town Aug. 17, 1914, daughter of the late Julius and Celina (Jacques) Lahue. She was the widow of J. Armand Guay. They were married for over 57 years prior to his death March 4, 1992. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne.

She is survived by her three daughters, Marilyn and her husband Frank Bray of Highgate Falls, Katherine and George Berz of Westfield, Mass., Eileen Thomas of Providence, R.I., 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her daughter, Sally Paquette Fowler, April 24, 1972 and by her brother Francis and his wife Virginia Lahue.

A Masss of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in the Guay family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

MERCEDES PEARL BELLROSE

SWANTON -- Mrs. Mercedes Pearl Bellrose, 73, a lifelong resident of this community died early Thursday morning, March 15, 2001, in her St. Albans Road Home.

She was born in West Swanton July 25, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Lula (Bradley) Cheney. She attended school in West Swanton and on July 18, 1949 married Lawrence Bellrose who survives her. She was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mercedes was a professional seamstress with the York Manufacturing Company for over thirty years, a homemaker and co-founder of Bellrose Plumbing and Heating. She will always be remembered for the love of her family, the outdoors, snowmobiling, traveling, craft making and especially fishing with her husband Larry. She also enjoyed watching baseball, with the Atlanta Braves being her favorite team.

In addition to her husband Larry of Swanton, Mercedes leaves two sons, Frank Bellrose and his wife Melody, and Tom Bellrose and his wife Diane, all of Swanton; two daughters, Sandy Sturgeon and her best friend Fred Martin of the Alburg area, and Jane Gilmond and her husband Daniel of Palms Springs, Calif.; two brothers, Arnold Cheney and his wife Bertha of West Swanton, and Gordon Cheney of Swanton; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Mrs. Eldora Delaney predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 19, 2001, at 10 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Interment will follow in the Bellrose family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton Sunday, March 18, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in memory of Mercedes may be made to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, PO Box 22, Swanton, VT 05488 or to the Franklin County Home Health Agency-Hospice Program, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.

BERNARD A. "FOX" PAQUETTE

RICHFORD -- Bernard A. "Fox" Paquette, age 66, died Thursday morning March 15, 2001, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

He was born Oct. 31, 1934 in St. Albans, the son of the late Leon & Doris (Young) Paquette.

He was a resident of Richford since 1978 and was a former resident of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. for nine years, he was a self-employed carpenter. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post #12 of Richford. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal (Bean) Paquette of Richford; his children, Bernard A. Paquette, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Richford, Kim Sartwell and her husband Charles Sr. of Highgate, Earl Paquette and his friend Lisa Jacobs, Timothy Paquette and his wife Melissa, Michael Paquette and his wife Sharon, Joanne Corwell and her husband Brian Sr., William Bean and his friend Jen Landry and Crystina Paquette, all of Richford; his grandchildren, Joshua Ives, Jonathan Paquette, Tayler Paquette, Chuck Sartwell and his friend Summer Messier, Jennifer Sartwell, Kayla, Karley & Korey Paquette, Katie & Shelby Paquette, Michael Paquette Jr. and Dustin Paquette, Brian Corwell, Jr. and Tyler Corwell and Jacob Bean; a great grandson, Zachary Sartwell; five sisters, Sandra Shover and her husband Alexander "Butch, " Pat McAllister and her husband Maurice of Sheldon and Bernice Sloan and her husband Ronald of Winooski; a brother, Leon Paquette and his wife Peggy of Saratoga, N.Y., an aunt Lila Young of Enosburg; several nieces and nephews; his former wife, Mary Bean of Richford. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Eldridge; three brothers, John, Raymond and Maurice Paquette.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spears Funeral Home on 140 Main St. in Richford.

For those who wish, contributions may be made in Bernard's memory to help the family purchase a monument, c/o Penny Barney, 2623 Machia Rd., Sheldon, VT 05483.

VALMONT EUGENE TABOR

SWANTON -- Valmont Eugene Tabor, 86, a resident of 23 River Lane, died late Wednesday evening, March 14, 2001, in the Verdelle Village Extended Care Facility in St. Albans Town.

He was born in Swanton, Jan. 2, 1915, the son of the late Rigney and Amellia (Stone) Tabor. He graduated from Swanton High School and was married to the former Anna P. Wielkiewicz who survives him. In earlier years Mr. Tabor was associated for ten years with the Ford Motor Company and also for 20 years with Sterling Glass, both in Buffalo, N.Y.

In addition to his wife Anna of Swanton, Mr. Tabor leaves a son, William S. Tabor of Buffalo, and a brother Leigh Tabor of Newport, Vt.

He was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Irene Bourgeois.

At Mr. Tabor's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time. Interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. Gifts in Mr. Tabor's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements have been under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home in Swanton, Vt.

R. STANLEY RICH

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Ronald Stanley Rich, of 126 Mulligan Road, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at his home. A native of St. Albans, Vt., he was the son of the late Theodore and Alma Turcotte Rich. He was a master barber for 53 years and had worked with Sargeant's Barber Shop for the past ten years. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Spartanburg; was a member of The American Legion, VFW and was a charter member of the Franklin County Sportsman's Club in Vermont. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Seabees.

Survivors include his wife Faith Wilson Rich of the home; two sons, Steven L. Rich of St. Albans, Vt., Michael H. Rich of Swanton, Vt.; one daughter, Kimberly Tackett of Chesnee, S.C.; two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2001 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2001, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church conducted by The Rev. Michael R. DeAntonio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
