EVELYN H. WRIGHT

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. / ST. ALBANS, Vt. -- Mrs. Evelyn H. Wright, 96, a resident of Plattsburgh since 1943, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2004, at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh. She was born in St. Albans on Oct. 2, 1907, the daughter of the late Winslow D. and Lottie (Bliss) Heald. She was the widow of C. Bradley Wright who predeceased her on April 30, 1953.

Evelyn was a graduate of St. Albans High School and for many years was a secretary and agent at the F. C. Dossert Insurance Agency in Plattsburgh. She was a member of the Women's Insurance Association, Plattsburgh Senior Citizens, and the Home Bureau. She enjoyed many crafts as well as sewing and quilting.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Velma and Oril Graves of Port Kent, NY; a son and his wife, Robert and Judy Wright of Andover, Mass.; grandchildren, Brad and Mary Ellen Graves of Plattsburgh, Wynne and Tim Moody of Lee, N.H., Chris, Allyson, and Holly Wright all of Andover, Mass. and Cynthia and James Shortel of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Colby and Abby Graves, Ivy and Paige Moody, and Bryan and Allicia Shortel; a brother, Robert L. Heald of St. Albans Bay, Vt.; a sister-in-law, Eleanor B. Heald of Richford, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Bradley, she was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Houston Childress; brothers, Herman C. Heald, George B. Heald, Frederick A. Heald, Adelbert W. Heald, Everett L. Heald, Raymond W. Heald, Alan W. Heald, and C. Paige Heald; and a sister Winifred H. Robistow.

Visitation and a prayer service will be on Saturday evening at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home, 94 Court St., Plattsburgh. A funeral service will held on Monday, March 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main St., St. Albans. Interment will be in the family lot at Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington.

MARGARET REED WOOD

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Margaret Reed Wood, 85, a longtime area resident, passed away on Thursday evening, March 4, 2004, at Holiday House Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born in Beekmantown, New York, on May 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Samuel and Mae (Stone) Reed. She was the widow of Gordon A. Wood, who died on Nov. 7, 1989.

Margaret was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Women's Fellowship of the Church. She was also a member of Bellevue Rebekah Lodge 26 in St. Albans.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, special friends, Dot and Zeb Larry of St. Albans, Wayne and Judy Miller and their family of Georgia, and Mary and Jerry Fincher of Bremerton, Wash. A special thanks to Lise Trahan of St. Albans for her love and care that allowed Margaret to stay at home until her illness. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by three brothers, Clarence, Francis and Carlton Reed.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the First
Congregational Church. Spring interment will be in the Wood family lot at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral at the First Congregational Church, Church Street.

MARION SHIRLEY YOUNG

ST. ALBANS -- Marion Shirley Young, 71, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away on Thursday morning, March 4, 2004, at the Haven Health Care Facility with her family at her side. She was born in Sheldon, Vt. July 18, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Ducharme) Desrosier. On Oct. 9, 1951, she married Edward L. Young who predeceased her on Nov. 8, 1984.

She was a member of the Auxiliaries of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars. For many years Marion was a driver for the Swanton Senior Center.

Marion is survived by her sister, Jessie Lagrow of St. Albans; her brother, Eugene Desrosier of Enosburg Falls; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by two sisters, Pearl Monette on Sept. 21, 1998, and Betty Lou Brassard on July 19, 2001; and two brothers, Edmond Desrosier on Oct. 2, 1999, and Carmi Desrosier on Dec. 25, 2002.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 6, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Dennis E. Hayward, pastor of St. Luke's Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be this spring in the family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Marion's family will receive friends this evening from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

DR. BERNARD G. BOUCHER

ST. ALBANS, Vt. / VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Dr. Bernard G. Boucher of St. Albans, Vt. died on Feb. 23, 2004, in Vero Beach, Fla. with his family by his side. Born on Nov. 10, 1933, he was the son of Rene and Imelda Boucher of Highgate Center.

His education began in a one-room schoolhouse on the Gore Road in Highgate Center. From there he went on to graduate from St. Edmund's High School in Swanton, St. Michael's College in 1954 and the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1958. He completed his internship at the Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City.

After a two-year residency in obstetrics at the Margaret Hague Maternity Center in Jersey City, he married the former Madeline St. Germain of Berkshire. They moved to Brooklyn where he completed his gynecology residency at the Coney Island Hospital. After practicing in New Jersey for three years, he and Madeline returned home where he became the first board-certified, OB/GYN physician in Franklin County.

He retired after practicing for 27 years in St. Albans. Dr. Boucher always took great pride in being a physician, thoroughly enjoying the practice of medicine and felt very fortunate to care for the good people of Franklin County. He was a member of the Franklin County and Vermont Medical Societies.

A long time hockey fan, he was involved with the St. Albans Skating Association and youth hockey as a referee. He was a well read student of history and he and Madeline visited many historic sites in the United States. In his retirement years he spent summers on Lake Champlain where he tended his gardens, maintained his property and relaxed by the lake. Winters were spent in Vero Beach, Fla. where among other things he enjoyed baseball spring training and attending local high school football games. He especially treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Dr. Boucher is survived by his wife, Madeline; daughter, Anne and her husband Dr. Brian McLellan of Rochester, N.Y.; son, Edmund and his wife, Thais, of Boca Raton, Fla.; son, Stephen and his wife, Nichole, and their twin daughters, Emma and Lucy of Ypsilanti, Mich. He is also survived by his sisters, Claire Gabso of South Burlington, Lucille and husband, Duane Biever, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Yvette and husband, George Mazuzan, of Springfield, Va.; brothers, Father Maurice Boucher, SSE of Alburg, Hertel and wife, Andree, of Montreal, John and wife, Anita, of Swanton, Paul and wife, Ellen, of Maple Glen, Pa., Gilbert and wife, Gemma, of Highgate Center; and sister-in-law, Rita Boucher of St. Albans. He was predeceased by his brothers, Germain and Brother Laurent Boucher, CSC.

A memorial gathering will take place this summer. Contributions in Dr. Boucher's memory can be made to Franklin County Home Health Agency in St. Albans, Vt.

JOAN R. BESSETTE

ST. ALBANS -- Joan R. Bessette, 85, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Bedford, Quebec, the daughter of the late Syliana and Elizabeth (Duval) Campbell. On July 31, 1939, Joan married Theodore A. Bessette who predeceased her on April 23, 1989.

After their marriage they farmed in the Franklin County area. They then moved to Seymour, Conn. where Joan was employed by the Waterman Penn Co. Upon their return to Vermont Joan and Ted owned and operated a farm for 16 years in North Fairfield. When they retired they moved to St. Albans where Joan was employed by Martins Food Store in the meat department for several years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 321. She also enjoyed stamp collecting, crocheting and knitting.

Having been brought up in a musical family, Joan's passion for music was passed on to her daughters.

Survivors include her three daughters, JoAnne G. Reynolds and her husband, Henry, of Sheldon, Leshia A. Paradee and her husband, Lee, of Swanton and Marilyn H. Meier and her husband, James, of Milton; her brother, Monsignor Bernard L. Campbell of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; nine grandchildren, Laurie Fortin, Nancy Ward, Steven Reynolds, Dennis Reynolds, Joan Hubbard, Dixie Hubbard, Chandra Walsh, Tina LeClair and Tara Sweet; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Ted, she was predeceased by a grandson, Richard Remillard; a granddaughter, Sara Remillard; three brothers, Anthony Campbell, Leo Campbell and John Campbell; and a sister, Aldeoda Hebert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Francis E. Connors on Wednesday, March 3, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Catholic Church, Huntville Road, Fairfax. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Luke Cemetery. Joan's family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Haven Health Care Facility, 596 Sheldon Road, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

WOODMAN E. (WOODY) DAIGUE

FAIRFIELD -- Mr. Woodman E. (Woody) Daigue, age 73, died Friday, morning, Feb. 27, 2004, in the Holiday House Extended Care Facility, after a lengthy illness. He was born in St. Albans, Sept. 24, 1930, son of the late Woodman Tupper and Hazel Mae Daigue. Woody started working at the Bakersfield Saw Mill at the age of 16 years old. He later had his own logging business and worked as a farmer on the Charles Lee Farm.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Perry and her friend Judy Bailey of Burlington; his brother, Jack E. Goss Sr. and his wife Penny of Bakersfield; and several nieces and nephews, to include a special nephew, Jack E. Goss, Jr. and his wife Terri of Bakersfield; special friends, Virginia Young and Louis Pfundi of Fairfield; and many friends in Fairfield, Bakersfield and St. Albans.

Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service, Saturday, March 6, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the Bakersfield Historical Society with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating. Interment will be in the spring in the Maple Grove Cemetery with his parents.

JOSEPH W. "JOE" PELLETIER

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Joseph W. "Joe" Pelletier, age 79, died peacefully Wednesday morning, April 28, 2004, at his home with his loving wife and family at his side. Joe was born in Sanford, Maine on September 25, 1924, son of the late Josephat and Anne (O'Niel) Pelletier.

Joe served in the Canadian Army during World War II. Following his discharge he came to St. Albans to work for Wirthmore Feed. He later was employed by the Central Vermont Railway, Inc. and retired as a machine operator after serving 40 years. Joe was a communicant of Holy Angels Church and a member of the American Legion Post 1.

August 17, 1952 he married Agnes Benoit. Besides his wife of over 51 years he is survived by their children and their spouses, Gloria and Brian Wood of Fairfield, Susan and Guy Palardy of Alburg, Alan and Lisa Pelletier of Templeton, Mass., Joseph James and Krist Pelletier of Highgate Center; nine grandchildren, Renee Pelletier, Ryan Pelletier, Marc Palardy, Nicole Palardy, Danielle Palardy, Jared Palardy, Connor Pelletier, Sara Wood and Jeremy Wood; his brother Lucien and his wife Simone Pelletier of Grand-Mere, Quebec; and his sister Rita Johnson of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and several nieces and nephews, including his special niece and Goddaughter Diane Hilliker of St. Albans. He was predeceased by his parents; an infant grandson Cameron Pelletier; by sister Annette Richard; and brothers Armand and Henry Pelletier.

His family would like to express very special thanks to the Franklin County Home Health Hospice for the wonderful care that Joseph received.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the Pelletier family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

BERNICE M. CLARK

ROCHESTER -- Bernice M. Clark, 91, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland. She was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Berkshire, Vt., the daughter of William and Emma (Bashaw) Steinhour.

Bernice attended Berkshire schools. She married George Clark in 1936 in Richford. Mr. Clark died in 1983. She lived in Pittsfield for many years, Florida and Rochester. She lived at the Park House in Rochester for six years. Bernice worked as a housekeeper for many years at several ski lodges in the Rochester and Pittsfield area. She also worked as a cook at the Pittsfield village school. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Rochester, and the Court Saint Anthony's 1231 Catholic Daughters of Bethel. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Clark of Rochester; a daughter, Sylvia Que of Northfield; a brother, Frank Steinhour of Glens Falls, N.Y.; a sister, Marion Cantell of Hancock; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers: Linwood, George, Arthur, Malcom, Wallace; and sisters: Stella Norton, Christine Johnson; and a son, Roger Clark, who died in Vietnam.

A memorial mass will be celebrated May 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Rochester with Father Lance Harlow officiating, followed with a burial service at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery, and a luncheon at the Pittsfield Town Hall. There are no calling hours.

Friends wishing may make memorial contributions in her memory to The Valley Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 131, Rochester, Vt. 05767; or The Parkinson's Foundation, 710 W. 168th St., New York, N.Y. 10032.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

ANITA C. "MEMERE" GODIN

CAMBRIDGE -- Anita Clare (Parent) Godin, 84, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Redstone Villa in St. Albans surrounded by her loving family. She was born in St. Alphonse de Granby, Quebec on Dec. 19, 1919, daughter of the late Albert and Lydia (Dragon) Parent.

Anita married Lionel X. Godin on June 14, 1941. Lionel predeceased Anita on Aug. 28, 2003. She devoted her life to her family and was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Anita will be dearly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cambridge. The family would like to thank the staff of Redstone Villa who have provided much love and care for Anita.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Gagnon and her special friend Brad Gray of Essex Jct. and her children Stacy and Shelly; her sons, John Godin and his special friend Margo Kingsley of Colchester; his children Robin, Mike, Steve, and Brian, Peter Godin and his wife Virginia (Jocelyn) Godin of Milton and their children Nicole and Kevin, Jim Godin and his wife JoAnne (Ovitt) of Jeffersonville and their children Heather, Cheryl, and Marie; as well as many great-grandchildren and extended family. She is survived by her brother, Guy Parent of Winooski; her sisters, Monica Racine of Essex Jct., and Theresa Perry of Enosburg Falls; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was also predeceased by five brothers, Rosaire, Gerald, Jerry, Paul, and Lionel Parent.

Visiting hours will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2004, in Hayes-Rich Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cambridge with Reverend John McDermott officiating. Interment will follow in St. John The Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg. Memorial contributions may be made in Anita's memory to American Lung Association, 30 Farrell St., So. Burlington, Vt. 05403.
