IRVIN A. "PETE" PELTIER

SWANTON / MILTON -- Irvin A. "Pete" Peltier, 82, of Lake Street, died Sunday evening, April 4, 2004, at his home in Swanton. Pete was born in Milton on Feb. 19, 1922, the son of Henry and Abbie Robar Peltier. He served his country with the US Army during World War II.

He was married to Marion Fresn, who predeceased him in 1972. He was employed as manager of the Milton Cooperative Creamery for 10 years. Following this he was employed by Lucille Farms in Swanton for fifteen years until retiring in 1984.

On Feb. 19, 1983, he married Shirley McSweeney in Milton who survives him.

He was a member of the Milton Fire Department for many years. An avid outdoorsman, Pete loved deer and racoon hunting, as well as fishing and spending many hours in his garden. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Swanton; his son, Scott Peltier, and grandsons Casey Peltier and Jessep Gaudette of Milton. Also surviving are children, Kathleen Morton and husband Marlin of St. Albans, Susan Hoburn and companion Ronald Martin of Berkshire, Sally Gamache and companion Scott Howard of Highgate, Floyd Bohannon and companion Wendy Minor of Highgate, Lisa McFadden and husband Shane of Swanton and Karen Gazaille and husband Chad of Alburg; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barb Potvin and Marion Bugbee, both of Milton; his mother-in-law, Marion Neveau of West Swanton; two brother-in-laws, Robert McSweeney and wife Mary of Eagle Rock, Texas, and Douglas McSweeney and companion Marla Rickabauch of Alburg; his sister-in-law, Brenda LaFountain and her husband Bob of Highgate; and his cat Whiskers.

Pete was predeceased by his son Timothy in 1985; his sisters, Doris Alderman in 1989, Gladys Trayah in 1995, Lucille Quesenbury in 1998; and his brother Orin Peltier in 1994.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home with Father John Feltz officiating. Burial will follow in the Milton Village Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc. 11 Loomis Street, Montpelier, Vt. 05602-3021, or the Franklin County Home Health Agency Home Hospice Program, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with Father Feltz offering prayers at 2 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7, Milton.

HONOR E. ROSENBERGER

ROUSES POINT, N.Y. -- Honor E. Rosenberger, 76, passed away Saturday evening, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Watervliet, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Hoffman) Brooks. She worked many years at Delagar in Rouses Point, New York, but her major accomplishment in life was as a loving and caring wife and mother.

Honor is survived by her son, Paul Rosenberger of Rouses Point; her daughter, Honor Lamphere of Swanton, Vt.; grandchildren, Patrick Rosenberger of Fort Campbell, Ky., Andrew Rosenberger of Rouses Point, N.Y. and Michael and Sara Lamphere of Vandenburg Air Force Base, Calif. Also a brother-in-law, John Rosenberger and his wife Betty of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and a sister-in-law, Isabell Rosenberger of Wymantskill, N.Y.; as well a many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Rosenberger of Rouses Point, N.Y.; and a son-in-law, Bobby Lamphere of Swanton, Vt.

At the family's request there will be no public services and interment will be private. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Rouses Point Rescue Squad, Rouses Point, N.Y. 12979 or to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P.O. Box 22, Swanton, Vt. 05488.

ROBERT WILLIAM THOMPSON, SR.

SWANTON / ST. ALBANS -- Robert Thompson, 64, a native St. Albans City resident and more recently of Gallup Court in Swanton Village, died Friday evening, April 2, 2004, in the Birchwood Terrace Health Care Center in Burlington.

Born in St. Albans he was the son of the late Virginia Martin and Clifford Thompson. He attended schools in St. Albans and in 1974 married the former Gale Houghton who predeceased him on Nov. 6, 1993.

Prior to his disability Bob spent most of his working life assisting in the operation of several area dairy farms. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army and following his discharge served in the Vermont Army National Guard.

Bob leaves his wife of nine years, Pauline Ungerwitter of Swanton; five children, Robert Thompson Jr. of St. Albans, Tina Thompson and her companion Jeff Robtoy of Highgate, Mark Thompson and his companion Karen St. Francis of Swanton, Andrew Thompson of Fairfield and Joshua Thompson of West Swanton; five grandchildren, Amanda, Leisha, Ashley and Kara Robtoy and Shanika Thompson; four sisters, Betty Norris and her husband Wayne of Sheldon, Shirley Machia and her husband Larry of Sheldon, Catherine Hatterick of Swanton and Gloria Glidden of West Berkshire; three brothers, Kenneth Thompson of Fairfield, Carl Thompson of Bristol and Richard Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by an infant brother, James Thompson, and another brother, Philip Thompson in 1992.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend, Pastor of the Highgate United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Albans City. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Gifts in Bob's memory may be made to the family to assist them in the purchase of a cemetery headstone, in care of, Pauline Ungerwitter, 16 Gallup Court, Swanton, Vt. 05488.

HARVEY C. DENNIS

ST. ALBANS -- Harvey C. Dennis, age 78, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care following an extended illness. He was born in St. Albans, Dec. 4, 1925, son of the late Paul and Hattie (Bailey) Dennis.

He is survived by a daughter; an aunt, Lucy Dennis of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews, including his special care giver Janice Proper. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his 12 brothers and sisters.

Janice wishes to extend her heartfelt thanks to the Franklin County Home Health Agency staff and the Fletcher Allen Health Care staff for their kind unending assistance.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Cemetery. Father Leonidas Laroche will officiate. Burial will follow the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

THOMAS R. DAVIDSON

WINDSOR, Vt. -- Thomas R. Davidson, 61, passed away Wednesday afternoon at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.

He was born March 20, 1943, in Claremont, N.H., the son of Richard E. and Bernadette (Moore)Davidson. He received his schooling in Windsor and attended Windsor High School. He was employed at Brown's Sales and Service in Windsor for many years. In earlier years he was employed by the Town of Windsor Highway Department and at Cone Blanchard Machine Tool Company in Windsor. He married Lona Guyette in Windsor on Oct. 28, 1967.

Mr. Davidson was a past Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Father Fontaine Council 2832 in Windsor, a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, a longtime member of the Windsor Elks Lodge 1665, member of the Sons of American Legion Post 25 in Windsor, and the Claremont, N.H. Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Lona Davidson of Windsor; his mother, Bernadette Davidson of Claremont, N.H.; one son, Thomas R. Davidson II of Windsor; three daughters, Joan M. Bates of Swanton, Marjorie A. Tokarski of Castle Rock, Colo., and Jennifer L. Davidson of Wilder, Vt.; one brother, Richard E. Davidson Jr. of Windsor; two sisters, Judy Geffken of Unity, N.H. and Donna Davidson of Punta Gorda, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Tiffany and Alyssa Johnson, Joshua and Natasha Morse, Hanna and Isaiah Bates, Madeline and Robert Luca Tokarski, and Tyler McDerment Davidson; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. Reverend Paul N. Belhumeur M.S., Pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.

Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Windsor Elks Lodge will perform a service at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Towers Camp for Exceptional Children, Ripton, Vt. 05766, or to Thomas R. Davidson II at 277 Thrasher Road, Windsor, Vt. 05089, to assist the family.

MARY BLAKE MATTIS

WEST SWANTON, Vt. / BRANDON, Fla. -- Mary Blake Mattis, 87, a longtime resident of the Brandon, Fla. area, died Wednesday morning, March 31, 2004, at the Lakewood Drive residence of her daughter, Constance "Connie" Hall.

Born in Farnham, Quebec, Canada, Sept. 20, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Henrietta (Purchase) Snow. She attended schools in Canada and for nearly forty years was associated as a sewing operator with the Ford Motor Company.

Mrs. Mattis leaves her daughter, Constance "Connie" Hall of West Swanton; a son, Douglas Blake and his wife Amy of Sterling Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Nellie LaGrow of Sheldon; and two brothers, Charles Snow of Granby, Quebec and John Snow. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Steven Hall of Highgate, Ronald Hall of Sheldon, Caren Gayle of Germany and Wayne Hall of West Swanton; eight great-grandchildren, Kayley, Lucas, Katie, Whitney, Steven and Riley Hall and Jeremy and Amanda Goodman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mattis' family wishes to thank Dr. Eugene Moore, everyone at the St. Albans Dialysis Unit, and her direct caregivers from the Franklin County Home Health Agency for all of the love care and support given to her during her illness. Also a very special thank you to Norman Lussier and Christine Lussier for always being there when ever there was a need.

Funeral Services and interment will take place from the Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery in Brandon, Fla. Vermont arrangements were under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton.

KELLY (SECORD) CHUNG

WEST ROXBURY, Mass. -- Kelly (Secord) Chung of West Roxbury passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2004.

She was a loving wife of Gary Chung, and mother of Sara and Dylan of West Roxbury; beloved daughter of James Secord of Brockport, N.Y., and the late Gertrude Allyn Muldoon; dear daughter-in-Law of Thomas and Jennie Semler of Marshfield; dear sister of Mary Beth Dobrovolsky and her husband Ken of Baltimore, Md., and the late Margaret Goosley and her husband John. Kelly was the beloved sister-in-Law of Nancy and Jimmy Welch of Quincy, Susan and Steve Campos of Marshfield, and Brian and Sue Semler of Connecticut; cousin of Cheryl Langevin and her husband Henry of New York, and Deborah Blouin of St. Albans, Vt.; dear aunt of Rebekah, Renee and Rachel Dobrovolsky, Sean Goosley, Kylie and Jason Semler, Anthony Langevin, and Sarah and Tyler Blouin.

Kelly grew up in Syracuse, N.Y. Her greatest accomplishment was her children, and she loved them more than anything. Kelly was a very sensitive and caring person to everyone she knew. She worked as a registered nurse for Children's Hospital for 14 years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the Kfoury Keohane Funeral Home, 8 Spring St. (corner of Centre St.), West Roxbury on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours were held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston, Mass.

Donations in memory of Kelly may be made to Children's Hospital, Center for Critically Ill Children, 300 Longwood Ave. Boston, Mass. 02115.

MERRIMAN E. LOTHIAN

FRANKLIN -- Merriman E. Lothian, age 76, passed away Thursday evening May 27, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans following a courageous struggle with emphysema.

He was born May 21, 1928, in Franklin, the son of the late Earl and Katherine (Titemore) Lothian.

Merriman was a life long resident of Franklin and was employed as the Franklin Road Commissioner and Road Foreman for 37 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War having received the Purple Heart Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Campaign Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 of Enosburg Falls, and the V.F.W. Robert Glidden Post of St. Albans. He was also the Franklin Cemetery Commissioner and directed the restoration of five cemeteries in Franklin. He loved to be outdoors and mowing lawns and especially having his granddaughter Amy around.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille (LaFlame) Lothian of Franklin. Merriman and Lucille celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 14, 2004. He is also survived by two sons, Kim Lothian and his friend Wendy Lavery and Arthur Lothian; his daughter, Patty Jo Lothian and her friend Andre Blouin; his granddaughter Amy Lothian all of Franklin; three brothers; and two sisters. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Kay Lothian; one sister; and four brothers.

In keeping with Merriman's wishes he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held Tuesday afternoon, June 1, 2004, at 3 at the East Franklin Cemetery. There will be a gathering at the East Franklin Church following the graveside services. There will be no visiting hours.

For those who wish, contributions in his memory may be made to the East Franklin Cemetery Association, 4925 State Park Rd., Enosburg Falls, Vt. 05450.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
