CHRISTOPHER S. ROBTOY

LONG BEACH, CALIF./SWANTON, VT. -- Christopher S. Robtoy, 41, the son of Bernard and Hilda (Sweet) Robtoy, died Feb. 26, 2001, in Long Beach, Calif.
A memorial service will be celebrated Monday, April 30, 2001, from the Memorial United Methodist Church, Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend David Smith, Pastor of the Missisquoi River Charge will officiate. All family and friends are invited to attend.

PATRICIA M. BERNARD

GEORGIA -- Mrs. Patricia M. Bernard, age 68, died Monday evening, April 23, 2001, at Fletcher Allen Health Care following a brief illness.

She was born in St. Albans, Vt. Sept. 7, 1932 to the late Leo D. and Dora (Germain) Berthiaume. Patricia Bernard graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1950. Mrs. Bernard retired from IBM in 1993. She had also worked for many years at Verdelle Village Nursing Home and with her husband Donald on the "Horseshoe Farm" in Georgia, Vt.

In 1952 Pat was married to Donald E. Bernard. Pat was a member of St. Mary's Parish and a participant in the Perpetual Adoration Society along with her husband. Family and friends meant everything to Pat; she loved us all and we will miss her dearly. She always took great pride in her holiday and Sunday afternoon family meals. She was an avid fiddle enthusiast, a member of the Northeast Fiddlers Association, and piano accompanist. Pat also loved to entertain fiddling friends. Friday night jam sessions with her devoted husband Don and cherished friends and family over the past 20 years will long be remembered.

Besides her loving husband of 48 years, she is survived by her three sons, Randall and his wife Gail of Jonesville, Timothy of Georgia, John and his wife Karen of St. Albans; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Berthiaume of St. Albans, Maxine Thompson of St. Joseph, Mo., and Barbara Bernard of Burlington; four grandchildren, Jim Fulcher of Washington, Iowa, Samantha, Donald and Kenneth Bernard of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by many special fiddling friends.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by two daughters, Donna Lynn in 1959 and Patty Ann in 1965; a sister Alma DeVarney in 1987; three brothers, Leroy Berthiaume in 1978, Phillip Berthiaume in 1989, and Russell Berthiaume in 1931, as well as her dear friend, Betty West in 1999.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 26, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

EILEEN B. (O'DONNELL) KING

MILTON -- Eileen B. (O'Donneell) King, age 72 of Milton, died unexpectedly Monday, April 23, 2001, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. She was born Aug. 19, 1928 in Burlington, Vt., daughter of the late Richard W. and Lillian B. (Richards) O'Donnell. She was raised and lived her entire life in Milton. As a young woman, Eileen was a journalist for the Burlington Daily News and worked several years at Doolin's Department Store in St. Albans. Eileen served her community in many different areas including the Milton PTA, Mother's Club, the Legion Auxiliary, and Chittenden Chapter #59 Order of The Eastern Star. Most recently she enjoyed being an active member of the Milton Senior Center and the Milton Historical Society. Later in life Eileen cared for and was the companion to many of our community's elderly.

She is survived by her former husband, Neil E. King and their six children, Stuart and his wife Sheryl of Burlington, Brenda Stewart of Shelburne, Darryl of Gainesville, Va., Kevin of Underhill, Stephen of Colchester, Lisa Trkulja of Colchester. Eileen was precious to her thirteen grandchildren, Shelby, Shaun, and Shannon King and their spouses, Heather Ferrara and William Bartlett and spouses, Andrew Stewart, Sarah Lowell and her spouse, Darrell and his spouse, Adam, Lia and Therese King, and Bradley and Brittany Trkulja. Eileen was also fortunate to have eight great grandchildren. Eileen will be so deeply missed by her entire family, as well as her dear friend, Karen Ripley.

Her parents and many aunts and uncles predeceased her.

Visiting hours will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Thursday, April 26, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Chittenden Chapter #59 O.E.A. will conduct a wake service at the Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the United Church of Milton with Pastor Jeffrey Cornwell officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Miltonboro Cemetery, Milton. Memorial contributions may be made in Eileen's memory to Milton Rescue Squad, 43 Bombardier Drive, Milton, VT 05468, or Arrowhead-Milton Senior Center, Inc., Middle Road, Milton VT 05468.

Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax.

ELROY H. "TOM" COLLINS

MORRISVILLE/SWANTON -- Elroy Collins, 85, of Swanton died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at the Northwestern Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born in Newport Town on Nov. 10, 1915, the son of Harley and Maud (Besaw) Collins. He attended schools in Newport Town and Westfield and was active in the Westfield Congregational Church as a young man.

Following his retirement in 1976 from Butterfield Division of Litton Industries, he moved from his farm in Lowell to Morrisville and in July 2000 he and his wife relocated to Swanton. He was an avid gardener and was especially proud of his many years harvesting Christmas trees to be sold throughout the United States. He was a member of the Northeast Fiddlers' Association and the Westfield Congregational Church. He served as a judge at the Craftsbury and Hardwick Fiddlers' Contests and enjoyed entertaining family, friends and senior citizens with his "old-time fiddling."

On Feb. 24, 1940 he married Shirley Willis who survives him. He is also survived by two sons, Donald and his wife Susan of Swanton and Russell and his wife Therese of Fairlee, and one daughter, Linda Jackman and her husband Dean of Colchester; grandchildren, Stephanie Phillips and her husband Patrick, Gary Collins and his wife Ammie, Kristina Collins and her husband David, Brian Collins and his wife Lourdes, Greg Collins and his wife Jennifer, Tom Jackman and Sam Jackman; great grandchildren, Troy, Tara McKenzie and Matthew Collins. Other survivors include a sister, Florence Miclette of Coventry, Conn., a brother, Durward Collins and his wife Rita; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion and Romeo Myott, Hilda and Yves Daigle, Annette and Milton Willis, Beverly and Everett Hisman, all of Westfield, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Congregational Church in Westfield, Vt. beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, with interment to follow at the Westfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westfield Congregational Church in care of Delpha Coulter, Westfield, VT 05874.

WILLIAM F. GONYEAU

MILTON -- William F. Gonyeau, 74, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a short illness.

Bill was born in South Burlington on Jan. 30, 1927, the son of Ira and Agnes (Hutchins) Gonyeau.

He had married Virginia "Ginny" Richards on Aug. 18, 1950. Mr. Gonyeau was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. Bill had worked for G.S. Blodgetts, Velan Valve and Wyeth Nutritionals.

In addition to his wife Ginny of Milton, Bill is survived by his children, Carol Mable and her husband Bruce of North Fayston, Sharon Pedrick and her husband Richard Jr. of Rochester, N.H., Richard Gonyeau and his wife Robin of Milton, Brenda Wallace of Berlin, N.H., and Sheila Reagan and her husband Brian of Indialantic, Fla. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, his brother, Roger Gonyeau of So. Burlington, his sister, Barbara Robar of Milton, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Roy Gonyeau in 1983.

At the family's request, funeral services will be private. Memorials in Mr. Gonyeau's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 11 Loomis Street, Montpelier, VT 05602-3021.

Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

LILLIAN A. FITZGERALD

EAST FAIRFIELD ­ Mrs. Lillian A. Fitzgerald, age 88, died peacefully Friday evening, April 20, 2001, two days after celebrating her birthday, with her family and many friends in Verdelle Village ECF.

She was born in Bakersfield April 18, 1913, daughter of the late Frederick J. and Lillian (Young) Bovat. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church and the Council of Catholic Women. Lillian and her husband Thomas operated a community care home and boarding home for many years. She was employed for a short time at Union Carbide Consumer Products and H.P. Hood, later was a nurses' aide at the Isham Manor Nursing Home in St. Albans. Her earlier years she worked in her backyard with her beautiful flower beds. She married Thomas S. Fitzgerald Oct. 19, 1930.

She is survived by her four children, Thomas W. Fitzgerald of East Fairfield, Monica and her husband Stanley Kittell of Sheldon, Kermit and his wife Ardelle Fitzgerald of Georgia, Kenneth and his wife Betty Fitzgerald of Waterbury, a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Fitzgerald of Swanton, her sisters, Gladys Marion Oakes of Pepperell, Mass., Rita Hale of Enfield, Conn., Regina Wood of Fredricksburg, Va.; 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, a step-brother Robert Bovat, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Thomas, she was predeceased by a son, Conrad Fitzgerald, grandchildren Donald Lee Fitzgerald, Debrah Jean Fitzgerald and Alan Kittell, brother Leamond Bovat, and sisters Leona Bedore, Olive Lagrow and Marjorie Minor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church. Friends are invited to call on her family on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478, or the Vermont Lung Association, 30 Farrell Street, So. Burlington, VT 05403. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

PATRICIA M. MOTT

RICHFORD ­ Patricia M. Mott, age 81, died Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2001 at her home following a long illness. She was born March 27, 1920 in Highgate, the daughter of the late James & Vivian (Searles) Barney.

She was a resident of Richford for the past 37 years and was a former resident of Enosburg and Swanton. She was employed as a waitress at the Hotel Riviera in Swanton. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Mott and Sandra Wetherby, both of Richford; ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Maskell of Highgate Springs, and Rita (Iris) Summers of Barre; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Mott; three sons, Richard, Frankie and Matthew Mott; a grandson Terrance Mott; a sister Vera Drinkwine; four brothers, Alison, Wilson, James and Ralph Barney.

A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday morning at 12 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Swanton. There will be no calling hours.

For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.

Spears Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LEONARD "BUGGIE" O. DOMINGUE

FAIRFAX/BERLIN ­­ Leonard Octave Domingue, 76, of Upper Welden Street, St. Albans, died at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin Thursday, April 19, 2001, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Franklin, Vt. on Aug. 2, 1924, the son of George and Locada (Bunno) Domingue. He was a retired dairy farmer. He enjoyed fishing, sugaring, driving around in his car and mostly enjoyed his grandchildren.

On April 19, 1947, he married Iona Tinker, who predeceased him in 1991 after 44 years of marriage.

He is survived by: his seven children, Frances and Gary of Georgia, Leonard and Juan of Colchester, Mike and Donna of Berlin, Bruce and Kim of St. Albans Bay, Jean and Pierre of Johnson, Doug and Judy of Franklin, Greg and Ann of Williston; sisters, Beatrice and Dale Taggart of Burlington, Marion and Carl Mosley of Florida, Ester Claussen of Winooski, Agnes and Leon Castle of St. Albans, Arlene and Hollis of Richford; and brothers-in-law, Roy and Wanda Tinker of Milton, Royce and Christine Tinker of Johnson; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held for Leonard "Buggie" and Iona Domingue at Binghamville United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m. A burial service will be held at a later date.

Should friends desire, contributions in Buggy's memory can be made to Woodridge Nursing Home Activity Fund, Barre, Vt. 05461.

Arrangements are by the Guare & Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier.

YVONNE VOCK

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Yvonne (Rocheleau) Vock, age 70, died peacefully at her home, Wednesday morning, April 18, 2001, with her loving and caring family at her side after an extended illness.

Born Marie-Yvonne Rocheleau Dec. 30, 1930, in Essex Jct., daughter of the late Louis and Adeline (Nichols) Rocheleau. She was employed as an operator for the New England Telephone Company for several years. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Women of the Moose, Chapter #321 of St. Albans. She was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, playing cards and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Saturday Night Card Players.

She married Edwin Vock Sept. 20, 1952. Besides her loving and devoted husband, she is survived by their five children, Deborah V. Stevens of Webster, Mass., Dianne M. Vock of St. Albans, Michael and his wife Peggy Vock of Broken Arrow, Okla., Stephen and his wife Donna Ehler-Vock of South Burlington, Rebecca and her husband Rene DeLaricheliere of St. Albans, 10 grandchildren, Diedra Gomez, Ashley, Gregory, Erin, Tyler, Kayleigh and Kyle Vock, Andrew, Lauren and Jennifer DeLaricheliere, two brothers, George and his wife Harriet Rocheleau, Ernest and his wife Gertrude Rocheleau, five sisters, Hortense Levesque, Cecile and her husband Leo DesLaurier, Carita and her husband Roger Cadieux, Corrine Rocheleau, Rita and her husband Wayne Sweeney, a sister-in-law, Geraldine Rocheleau, special friends and brother-in-law and his wife Jim and Marlene Vock of Theresa, N.Y., several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Matthew and Maria Vock; two brothers, Alfred and Harold (Omer) Rocheleau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening. Interment will be in the Vock family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478, or the Vermont Association for the Blind, 37 Elmwood Ave., Burlington VT 05401. Arrangemens are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

CHARLES A. BESSETTE, SR.

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Charles A. Bessette, Sr., age 64, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Fletcher Allen Health Care after a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 30, 1936 in Fairfield, son of the late Arthur and Helen (Tourangeau) Bessette. He worked in construction for Pizzagalli and A.C. Hawthorne companies. He was also a musician, having his own band, Charlie And The Country Sounds, who appeared at many local night clubs. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #758, Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1090, and the Loyal Order of Eagles.

His survivors include his children, June Root and her fiance James Gauvin of St. Albans, Patricia Sifford and her husband Perry of Virginia Beach, Va., Mary Pelissier and her companion Gary Carncross of Milton, Charles Bessette, Jr. and his wife Susan of St. Albans, his former wife Mary Jane Bessette of St. Albans, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Donald Bessette and his wife Phyllis of St. Albans, two sisters, Lucille Orvis of Starksboro, and Helen Orvis of Connecticut, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three brothers, Theodore, Eugene and Wallace, and two sisters, Hilda Talcott and Harriet Campbell, and special friend, Debbie Langlais.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the St. Patrick's Church in Fairfield. Interment will be in the Bessette family lot in St. Louis Cemetery in Fairfax. A friends and family gathering will be held at 5 p.m. at The Moose Lodge. Friends may call in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Charles A. Bessette Memorial Fund, c/o the People's Trust Company, Kingman St., St. Albans. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
