JOYCE E. PATNO

ST. ALBANS — Joyce E. Patno, 65 of Brainerd St. died peacefully Friday morning Aug. 6, 2004 at her home in St. Albans, surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born Dec. 18, 1938 in Burlington the daughter of William and Lorraine Mason Forcier. A graduate of Burlington High School she was married to Roger D. Patno on Feb. 27, 1960 at St. Joseph's Church in Burlington.

She went on to graduate from Trinity College in Burlington with a degree in Education in 1990. She taught in the North Avenue Christian School for six years. She and Roger together held classes at the Northwest Correctional Center in St. Albans and the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport for a number of years.

How does one define a life? Wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher; all accurate words, but in the definitions much is missed. With a never ending abundance of love, simple gentleness, kindness, patience, quiet strength, dignity, devotion, a sense of fun, and a dose of fire, she is all that one can hope to be. Simple description cannot explain a beautiful and profound soul. The works of her hand, the love of her heart, the relationships of family and friends speak for her to us. We will aspire, we will remember.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Roger, of St. Albans; and their children, Michael Patno and his wife Karen of Bristol and Jacqueline King and her husband Brian of Charlotte, N.C.; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Benjamin, Erin, Patrick, Rachel and Rebecca; her brother, Roger Forcier and his wife Lynn of Burlington; Michelle Patno, mother of Stephanie and Ben; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, William Forcier Jr.

Funeral Services were to be held today, Monday August 9, at 9 a.m. in the New Life Fellowship Church located on Centre Drive in Milton. Burial was to follow in New Mt. Calvary Cemetery on Plattsburg Avenue in Burlington. Following the burial a luncheon was held in the parlor of the United Church of Milton located on Main Street in Milton.

The family of Joyce strongly encourages that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Franklin County Hospice Program in care of the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478

Visiting Hours were held on Sunday, August 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton.
