James Tolaro

BELLOWS FALLS -- James M. Tolaro, 83, of, Pleasant Street, died at Springfield Hospital on Saturday, Sept., 15, 2001.

He was born March 16, 1918, in North Walpole, N.H., a son of Philip and Mary (Zarba) Tolaro. He attended schools in North Walpole and Bellows Falls, graduating from Bellows Falls High School in the class of 1934.

He worked for the New Hampshire Liquor Commissioner.

Mr. Tolaro served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club and the American Legion Post 37, all in Bellows Falls. He was a commissioner for the village of North Walpole, was a trustee for the village of Bellows Falls, served as interim village manager, served on the Senior Center Advisory Board and was an incorporator at the Health Center at Bellows Falls.

On Aug. 1, 1940, at St. Peter's Church, North Walpole, he married Margaret Kane, who died in 1977.

In 1978, at St. Charles Church, Bellows Falls, he married Catherine (Andosca) Collins, who survives.

Besides his wife of Bellows Falls, he is survived by a brother, Philip Tolaro of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Gloria Carr of Bellows Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his first wife he was predeceased by five siblings, Joseph Tolaro, Mary LaTarre, Anna Raymond, Michael Tolaro and Frances Crosby.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Brian Mead on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at St. Peter's Church, North Walpole, at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be held at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, from 7 to 9 this evening.

Burial will follow the service in the St. Peter's Cemetery, Drewsville, N.H.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Anthony Perrino

LUDLOW -- Anthony Perrino, 58, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1943, in Ludlow, a son of Anthony and Stephania (Gurdak) Perrino. He graduated from Black River High School in 1961, and served in the U.S. Army from 1963-66.

He owned and operated several businesses in the area -- Ludlow Shell Station, Plymouth General Store, and Perrino's Construction Co., as well as a Ski-Doo shop in Ludlow with his brother.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #36. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Bixby Perrino; two sons, Christopher Perrino of Ludlow, and Chad Perrino of Cranston, R.I.; one daughter, Tracy Perrino of Newport, R.I.; two brothers, Thomas Perrino of Lyndonville, and Peter Perrino of Mt. Holly; one sister, Patricia Tofferi of Burlington; four nieces; a nephew; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, Paul Perrino, in 1978.

The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Church of Annunciation in Ludlow, with burial following at the Pleasant View Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christopher Perrino College Fund at the Chittenden Bank, Ludlow branch office.

Brown services

BRATTLEBORO -- Memorial services were held Friday, Sept. 7, in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery for Beryl Berry Brown of South Newfane, who died Sept. 2, 2001, at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend.

The Rev. Thomas Moussin, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Brattleboro, officiated. Remembrances were offered by Deborah Berry, Mrs. Brown's daughter, as well as from several others in attendance. Delegations were present representing the Book Press and the International Brotherhood of Bookbinders.

Arrangements were under the direction of Max E. Carr Funeral Home in Brattleboro.

Moore services

BRATTLEBORO -- A large number of family and friends from Florida, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont gathered on Sunday morning, Sept. 9, at the West Brattleboro Cemetery for the service to remember the life of Elizabeth A. (Greene) Lake Moore, who died Aug. 18, 2001, at Harborside Westwood Nursing Home in Keene, N.H.

Pastor Jay Sabine of the West Brattleboro Church officiated.

Her sister-in-law, Mabel L. Wescott, recited the 23rd Psalm and reminisced. Her granddaughter, Debbi Zacheeo, played guitar and sang a song she wrote for "Nana." She was accompanied by Mrs. Moore's niece, Velma Reed, on the autoharp and hymns were sung by them and accompanied by nieces, Pauline Wescott and Phylis Reed.

Patti Knights and Denny Bills offered words of tribute to their grandmother and Elizabeth Michaud wrote words of tribute to her grandmother.

Schryver services

BRATTLEBORO -- The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday morning at St. Michael's Catholic Church for Julia E. Schryver.

The Rev. Stanley Deresienski, pastor of St. Michael's was celebrant. Music for the Mass was under the direction of organist Constance Wallin, who was accompanied by the St. Michael's Church choir. Prelude hymns were selections from Mendelssohn, with "The King of Love" the processional hymn.

Assisting on the altar was Helen Moynihan, lecter, and George Parmenter serving as acolyte.

The First Testament scripture reading from the Book of Wisdom was offered by Helen Moynihan, who also gave the second reading from Timothy.

Rev. Deresienski gave the gospel reading from the Gospel of St. John, which was followed by the prayers of intercession. Those attending joined in reciting the Lord's Prayer.

The presentation hymn was "Yaweh I Know you are Near," with "Ave Verum" the hymn of Communion. Other liturgical selections included "Holy Holy," "Jesus, Lamb of God" and the "Song of Farewell." The Mass concluded with recessional hymn, "Precious Lord Take My Hand."

Committal rites and burial followed in the Schryver family lot in St. Michael's Cemetery, where Rev. Deresienski offered committal prayers.

Serving as pallbearers were Bernard Fleming, Earl Hemingway, Daniel Unwin and Michael Atamaniuk.

Delegations attending the Mass included past employees from the former Stacia's Family Restaurant.

Mrs. Schryver, 86, died Thursday morning at Eden Park Nursing Home.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Atamaniuk Funeral Home.

Tacey services

DUMMERSTON -- A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jim Tacey will be held at the Dummerston Center Congregational Church on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at 2 p.m.

A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service at the Evening Star Grange.

Wedgwood services

BRATTLEBORO -- The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday morning at St. Michael's Catholic Church for Esme A. Wedgwood of Green Meadow Road, who died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend.

The Rev. Stanley Deresienski, SSE, pastor of St. Michael's, was the celebrant.

Music was under the direction of Constance Wallin, accompanied by St. Michael's Choir. Burial was in the family lot in Dummerston Center Cemetery, where Rev. Deresienski offered committal prayers. Delegations were present representing Grace Cottage Hospital, American Red Cross and Miss Wedgwood's care-givers.

Arrangements were under the direction of Max E. Carr Funeral Home.

Gary F. Bourdon, 47 Formerly of Adams
Gary F. Bourdon, 47, of 5 Madison Lane, Merrimack, N.H., a native of Adams, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center in Nashua, N.H., shortly after being admitted.

Born in Adams on July 1, 1953, he was the son of Edward and Marie (Kaigle) Bourdon. He attended Adams schools, graduating from Hoosac Valley High School in 1972. He moved to New Hampshire two years ago.

He was working as a quality control inspector at Omni Components in Hudson, N.H., at the time of his death. While in Adams, he worked for many years as a self-employed painter.

He leaves his wife, the former Stephanie K. Nylic; two sons, James E. Bourdon of Hinsdale and Matthew Bourdon at home; a daughter, Theresa Bourdon of Yelm, Wash.; two brothers, Bernard Bourdon of Adams and Edward Bourdon of Connecticut; a sister, Barbara Zepka of Adams; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sophie L. Ziter, 88 Formerly of North Adams

Sophie L. Ziter, 88, of 33 Washington St., Brattleboro, Vt., died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at the Thompson House Nursing Home, Brattleboro.

Born in Barre, Vt., on Sept. 15, 1912, she was a daughter of Joseph and Eva (Ziter) Romanos. She attended schools in Barre and Caribou, Maine, and was a former resident of North Adams, Pittsfield, and Littleton, N.H.

She had made her home in Brattleboro since 1971.

She was a parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Brattleboro.

Her husband, James E. Ziter, whom she married Sept. 7, 1931, died May 29, 1988.

She leaves a daughter, Constance Weldon of Brattleboro, with whom she made her home; two sisters, Sadie Corey of Littleton and Louise Nell Brown of Jupiter, Fla.; four grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, six great- great- grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A daughter, Marlene F. Ziter, and two sisters, Julia Ziter and Celia Solomon, are deceased.

Mildred Alice Cole, 77 of North Adams

Mildred Alice (Marcil) Cole, 77, of 423 State Road, North Adams, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at her home.

She was under the care of Northern Berkshire Hospice.

She was the widow of Merrill Wesley Cole, whom she married on May 18, 1950 in Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church, North Adams.

Matheke service set

A memorial service for Frank H. Matheke, who died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, North Adams.

Helen M. Harvey, 74 of North Adams

Helen Mary (Whitcavitch) Harvey, 74, of 164 Prospect St., North Adams, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at the North Adams Regional Hospital.

Born in Taunton, Mass. on Dec. 10, 1927, she was a daughter to the late Joseph and Edwina (Markewicz) Whitcavitch.

Aveyard services held

Services for Richard H. Aveyard, Jr., 35, of 50 Maplewood Ave., who died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, took place on Friday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Trottier-Pringle Funeral Home, 6
Summer St., Adams.

The Rosary was said by Raymond Lavigne, uncle.

Burial followed in Bellevue Cemetery

Ruth F. Denley, 74 Formerly of North Adams

Ruth F. (Murphy) Denley, 74, of Cannon Ridge Drive, Watertown, Conn., and formerly of North Adams, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at the Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck, Conn.

Born July 29, 1927 in Stoneham, she was the daughter of Frank R. and Ruth (Blair) Murphy.

Lois C. Haskins, 99 Native of North Adams

Lois C. Haskins, 99, formerly of Millers Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Brattleboro, Vt.

Born in North Adams on May 17, 1902, she was the daughter of Ransford and Margaret (Kirby) Canedy.

She married Lewis Haskins in 1948. He died in 1964

Anne-Marie Archambault Formerly of North Adams

Anne-Marie Theresa (Lauzon) Archambault, 76, formerly of 39 Dean St., North Adams, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Lois A. Hawkins of Old Fort, Tenn.

Born in North Adams on Aug. 20, 1925, she was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Giroux) Lauzon.

The Rev. Milton Rohane Native of North Adams

The Rev. Milton Alan Rohane, 78, died Monday, May 28, 2001, in London, England, while on his annual trip to Europe.

For many years, he was a priest of the Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was the son of Jeremiah and Grace Rohane and born and raised in North Adams.

Lionel A. Danis, 69 Retired Air Force colonel

Lionel Arthur Danis, 69, of Fairfax, Va., a defense intelligence targeting officer, retired Air Force colonel and veteran of the Vietnam War, died May 9, 2001, at his home, of congestive heart failure.

Born in Burlington, Vt., he was the the fifth of 10 children of Charles and Lucienne (Campagna) Danis.

Ellen A. Lowe, 97 Readsboro Chair Shop retiree

Ellen Alinda (Berard) Lowe, 97, formerly of 161 Depot St., Readsboro, Vt., died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt.

She had resided there since Oct. 21, 1999.

Born in Readsboro on Jan. 19, 1904.

Raymond Biagini, 86 General Electric Co. retiree

Raymond J. Biagini, 86, of 70 Main St., Cheshire, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield.

Born on Jan. 8, 1915, in Cheshire, he was the son of Ralph and Adella (Graziani) Biagini.

He was educated in Cheshire schools and was a lifelong resident of Cheshire.

William Pilot Jr., 85, World War II veteran

CHESHIRE -- William James Pilot Jr., 85, of 17 Willow Cove died Thursday morning at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox, where he had resided for three weeks.

Born in North Adams on Feb. 14, 1916, son of William J. Pilot Sr. and Catherine Stickles Pilot.

Margaret Lancto, 58, employee at Excelsior

NORTH ADAMS -- Margaret R. "Peg" Lancto, 58, of Rickard Street, and a former longtime resident of Williamstown, died Wednesday at home.

Born in Williamstown on June 13, 1942, she was the daughter of Margaret Dugan Lancto of Williamstown and the late Silas Lancto.

Thomas Kinsella, 40; employed as waiter

PITTSFIELD -- Thomas F. Kinsella, 40, of 80 Stoddard Ave. died Wednesday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on April 4, 1961, son of Thomas and Anita Clavelle Kinsella, he graduated from Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Kinsella was employed as a waiter at several restaurants in Las Vegas for many years.
