LAURA EMMA RAYMO

FAIRFIELD -- Laura Emma Raymo, 90, a longtime resident of this area, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 18, 2004, at the Haven Health Care Facility following a lengthy illness. She was born in Fairfield on April 10, 1914, the daughter of the late Henry and Claira (Lapan) Raymo.

Laura was a longtime bookkeeper and housekeeper for the Allen Soule family in Fairfield, she also was a housekeeper for the Smith family in St. Albans and was a nanny for the Cushing family in Boston, Mass. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Chester A. Arthur Grange, the Fairfield Card Club and also helped with the town lunch program at the Fairfield Center School.

Survivors include her brother, Fabian Raymo; and her sister, Amanda Firkey, both of Fairfield. In addition to her parents, Laura was predeceased by two sisters, Bertha Bovat and Henrietta Barup.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Church Road with the Reverend Joseph T. Sullivan celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Patrick's Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Church Road, Fairfield, Vt. 05455. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

TIMOTHY N. TROMBLEY

ST. ALBANS — Mr. Timothy N. Trombley, age 47, a former St. Albans Town Selectman, died accidentally Tuesday morning, Nov. 16, 2004, while at work in Troy, N.Y.

Tim was born in St. Albans, June 7, 1957, son of the late Paul and Bertha (Thibault) Trombley. He graduated from Bellows Free Academy and was a journeyman lineman for PAR Electric and was a member of the Electrical Workers Union, Locals 1249 and 42.

Tim was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and men's auxiliary of the VFW Post 758. He served one term as a St. Albans Town Selectman and was a former member of the St. Albans Town Fire Department.

Tim was a perfectionist as a gardener and enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, and mostly spending time with his family.

Timothy married Roberta Murphy on Aug. 30, 1980. Besides his wife, Robin, Tim is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Trombley, and her finance, Matt Mulhern; his son, Tyler Trombley, all of St. Albans; his 10 brothers and sisters and their spouses, Paul Jr. (Teddy) and Diane Trombley of Bakersfield, Claire and George Boutah of Alburg. Carolyn and George Trombley of Hartland, John and Jeannette Trombley of Essex, Mary Ellen and Roland Prarie of Newport, Ramona Trombley of St. Albans, Marshia and Angelo Vincoli of New Milford, Conn., Carolyn and Dennis Hall of Bethlehem, Va. Juanita Manly and Sherrie Trombley, both of St. Albans; his mother-in-law, Anita Murphy of St. Albans Town; sisters-in-law, and their husbands, Lisa and Gerald Whitney of Milton, Daya (Diane) and Tadd Redman of St. Albans Town; and brother-in-law and wife, Patrick and Faith Murphy of St. Albans Town.

He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Daniel Trombley on Aug. 17, 2002.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Northwest Regional Technical Center, the trades center on the BFA campus, at 71 South Main St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

RODERICK O. WILSON

DERBY LINE — Roderick O. Wilson, 67, of Derby Line, passed away in Newport on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004.

He was born on Jan. 27, 1937, the son of Edward W. and Mary E. Wilson. Roderick served two hitches in the U.S. Army.

He was director-producer of the American Armed Forces Radio while he served in Germany. He worked for both Channel 3 and Channel 5 television, where he edited commercials, spliced film and went out on the road as a cameraman.

He worked on the largest snowman and largest scarecrow in St. Albans, which was in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Robert was a member of the Vermont Association of the Blind. He loved computers, photography and discussing politics.

His is survived by his step-son, Doug Mott of Derby Line; his sisters, Edna Allen and her husband Carmen of St. Albans, and Elizabeth Wilson of Berkshire; his ex-wife, Pauline Allen of West Plattsburgh, N.Y.; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Roland and Roy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, Darling Hill Road, Newport (formerly Sias Avenue) at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Daniels officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Interment will follow at the Derby Line cemetery.

JAMES H. BROWN

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. James H. Brown, age 64, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in St. Albans on March 24, 1940, son of the late Harold and Elizabeth (DeVarney)Brown.

Jim married Ramona Price on April 18, 1960. He worked for 24 years as a sheet metal fabricator for Leader Evaporator. He enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered fondly as “ Mr. Fix It” for his neighbors and friends. He was the "Jack of All Trades and Master of All." He will be sorely missed by his family. The family would like to thank all the staff at Northwestern Medical Center, friends, and co-workers for all their support and wonderful care. Jim is survived by his wife Ramona; his two daughters, Judith Royea and her husband Arnold of Sheldon, and Cynthia Nolan of St. George; six grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, and Nichole Royea, Jenny Nolan, Larisa and Eric Shepard; a sister, Shirley Baker and her husband Paul of Richmond; three brothers, Charles Brown and his wife Marilyn of Southington, Conn., Robert Brown and his wife Jolly Jean of Old Lyme, Conn., and George Brown of Wallingford, Conn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Harold on June 6, 1986; his mother Elizabeth on Aug. 18, 2000; his twin sons, Joseph Edward and Jonathan Michael, in 1961; and his son-in-law, Robert Nolan, Jr., on Nov. 7, 1993. Funeral services will be held in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1460, Williston, Vt. 05495.

GARY ALLEN ROBAR

MILTON -- Gary Allen Robar, 50, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born on Feb. 9, 1954, in Burlington, the son of Paul and Barbara (Gonyeau) Robar.

Following high school in Milton, Gary served in the U.S. Air Force, and was honorably discharged on April 24, 1974.

Until his illness, Gary was the manager of the Morse Sand Co. in Milton.

He was a loyal Red Sox fan and an avid golfer. Gary was a NASCAR fan and an online NASCAR fanatic. He was the past President of the Cobble Hill Snowmobile Club.

He is survived by his mother Barbara Robar of Milton; his brothers and sisters Donna Mattos and husband Peter of Milton, David Robar and wife Janet of Marlow, N.H., Susan Deuso and husband Timothy of Milton, Marilyn Kudlacik and husband Joseph of Milton, James Robar of South Burlington, Nancy Muzzy and husband Brion of Colchester; and by several nieces and nephews, many special friends, and his daughter Tiffany. He was predeceased by his father Paul in 2002.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice of the Champlain Valley, especially Mary and Rebecca for their special care and thoughtfulness.

A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, Nov. 18, 2004, at 7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the VNA, Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Road, Suite 1, Colchester, Vt. 05446 or the Vermont Cancer Center, Health Science Research Facility, 149 Beaumont Avenue, Burlington, Vt. 05405-0075.

REGINALD F. BAKER

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Reginald Farrington Baker, age 87, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans following a brief illness with his loving family at his bedside. Reginald was born in Franklin on June 7, 1917, son of the late Malcolm C. and Mildred (Geno) Baker.

He attended Bellows Free Academy and joined the U.S. Army in April 1944. He served in the Central Europe Campaign during World War II as Wire Chief in the 9th Signal Company of the 71st Infantry Division and was honorably discharged in June 1946 as Staff Sergeant. He was employed by the Central Vermont Railway for 39 years, retiring on June 30, 1977 as Supervisor of Communications and Signals. He was a member of the Green Mountain Post 1 of the American Legion, lifetime member of the Robert E. Glidden Post #758 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Central Vermont Railway Veterans Association.

He married Rose Abare on Aug. 26, 1939, and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Reginald was known to many as the man who could fix anything. In his early years, he enjoyed the many large family picnics, and later, in his retirement years, he enjoyed going camping with his children and grandchildren. He was the official video recorder of all the family events and loved to go to lawn sales.

Reginald is survived by his wife, Rose (Abare) Baker, of St. Albans; two sons, Gary Baker and his wife, Mary, of Georgia, his son Malcolm (Chuck) Baker and his wife, Susan, of Georgia, ; four grandchildren, Keith Baker and his wife, Amber; Sandra (Baker) Foisy and her husband, Marc; Amy and Michael Baker, all of Georgia; and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Brayden Baker of Georgia. He is survived by one sister, Gwendolyn Bushey of St. Albans; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lawyea of St. Albans; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret Runge of Ft. Myers, Fla.; another brother-in-law, Francis Abare of San Diego, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece Beverly DeMarinis Bartlett of St. Albans. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, John and Elmira Abare; brother-in-laws Edward Bushey and Donald Abare; sister-in-laws Alberta, Shirley, Laura and Helen Abare, Wyona Hemond, and Ethel Abare Puro.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in St. Albans. Family and friends may call at the Brady and Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in the Baker family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

STEPHEN KENDRICK CROSBY

GEORGIA -- Stephen K. Crosby, 64, a resident of this area since 1974, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 10, 2004, at Haven Health Center in St. Albans. He was born in Waltham, Mass., Oct. 8, 1940, the son of the late Albert and Edith (MacArthur) Crosby. On Nov. 3, 1962, he married Betty Maher in Waltham, Mass.

Stephen was a self-employed finish carpenter and cabinetmaker. He also worked at General Electric for five years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a steamboat enthusiast. He raised and hunted with Redbone Coon Hounds and other dogs.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Betty Crosby of Georgia; a son, Wayne Crosby and his wife, Christina of Hot Springs, N.C.; two daughters, Debi Crosby of Albuquerque, NM and Gail Rich of Anniston, AL; two sisters, Virginia Hoey of New Jersey and Claire Hetherman of Seabrook, N.H. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Darren, Lauren and Kyle Harney, Jessica and Jason Rich, and Kiana and Maia Crosby; a sister-in-law, Nancy Hatch of Waltham, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

LILLIANE GERMAINE THIBAULT

SWANTON -- Lilliane Germaine Thibault, 93, the eldest of the 18 Montagne brothers and sisters, and a longtime resident of Fourth Street in Swanton Village, died Sunday evening, Nov. 14, 2004, in Redstone Villa in St. Albans City.

Born in Bedford, Quebec Canada on Aug. 11, 1911, she was the daughter of the late John and Eva (Richer) Montagne. She attended schools in Canada and on June 23, 1936, married Edgar Paul Thibault who predeceased her on April 9, 1996, after almost 60 years of marriage.

Lilliane devoted her entire life to her God, family and caring for the sick and elderly as a Licensed Practical Nurse for well over 30 years. She was associated for nearly 18 years with the former Boucher Nursing Home in Swanton and 10 years at the St. Albans City Hospital. A devoted member of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary she also belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne and Altar Society.

Lilliane leaves her children and their spouses, Reine and Richard Belles of Houston, Texas, Robert E. and Barbara Thibault of Colorado Springs, Colo., John R. and Cheryl Thibault of West Swanton and Gerald M. and Lynn Thibault of St. Albans; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers and their spouses, Pauline and Patrick Hogan of St. Albans, Suzanne and Peter Spillane of Scituate, Mass, Claudette and Michael Kilduff of Bedford, N.H., Gabrielle and Steven Johnson of Glendale, Ariz, and Francois and Annette Montagne of St. Albans Bay; sisters-in-law, Marty Montagne of Aptos, Calif., Elizabeth Montagne of Williston, Betty Montagne of St. Albans and brother-in-law, Charles Luneau of St. Albans.

Besides her husband she was predeceased by her siblings, Jeanne Moreau, Madeline Shepard, Cecile Montagne, Jacqueline Luneau, Charlotte Nadeau, Paul Montagne, John Montagne, Joffre Montagne, Jacques Montagne, Marcel Montagne and Roger Montagne.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Thibault family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. LAWRENCE HOJABOOM

WESTMINSTER, VT. - Lawrence Hojaboom, 61, died Saturday, Nov. 13, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Born in St. Albans, Vt., Aug. 1, 1943, the son of Sydney and Christine (Warner) Hojaboom, he was a minister and herdsman for various farms in Vermont. For 16 years he worked at Woodsom Farm in Amesbury, Mass. before retiring in 1989 due to ill health. He enjoyed snowmobiling, car shows, talking on sideband radio, most of all he enjoyed his family. He married Phyllis Eldred, Oct. 6, 1962, in Hudson, N.H. They were married 37 years prior to her death in 1999.

He is survived by his fiancée, Annette Sohngen of Bellows Falls, Vt.; two sons, Shawn and Terri Hojaboom of Brentwood, N.H., and Allen and Nancy Hojaboom of Epping, N.H.; four daughters, Bridget Ivey of Epping, N.H., Hedi Fuller and Phil Duchemin of Epping, N.H., Keeley and Andy Crossman of Plymouth, N.H. and Alana Mammone and Len Derby of Westminster, Vt. Also by 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and by a brother, S. Wayne and Debbie Hojaboom of Swanton, Vt.; a sister, Gail and Joseph Race of Franklin, N.H. He was predeceased by his mother in 1991, and father in 1995.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home, Main Street, Johnson. Funeral services will be Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Johnson Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow in Eden Corners Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Grace Cottage Hospital, P. O. Box 216, Townsend, Vt. 05353 in care of Kimona Alin or to the Cardiac Unit Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Lebanon, N.H. 03766.

BERNARD EMERICK DUPRAT

SWANTON -- Bernard Emerick Duprat, 79, a longtime resident of Swanton Village, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 10, 2004, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Colchester on Sept. 12, 1925, he was the son of the late Emerick and Augusta (Patneaude) Duprat. He graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Burlington with the Class of 1943 and in 1950 from St. Michael's College with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. On July 11, 1959, he married the former Sybil Tatro who predeceased him, Oct. 7, 1998.

A member of the Local Carpenters Union 534 Bernard worked most of his life on large construction projects in the Burlington area as well as throughout Northwestern Vermont. A devoted parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary he formerly belonged to the Knights of Columbus, St. Edmund of Canterbury Council 7669 and was a member of the Hi-Swans Senior Citizens.

Bernard faithfully served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force and received five Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 778 both in St. Albans.

Bernard was full of life with a strong personality that remained until his very last day.

He leaves his daughter, Ann Wells and her husband Robert of Fairfield; two sisters, Miss Lucille Duprat of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Thomas (Theresa) McCormick of Winooski; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife Sybil, Bernard was predeceased by a brother, George Duprat.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at 2 p.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father John J. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Tuesday from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m.
