PHILIP R. PELISSIER

ST. ALBANS, VT./WINGDALE, N.Y. -- Philip R. Pelissier, age 55, died Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2001, from injuries received from being hit by a passing motorist on his job site in Burlington, Conn.

Phil was born in Kingsly Falls, Quebec, May 25, 1945 and lived in the Georgia and St. Albans area until he moved with his parents, Laurent and Theresa (Boulet) Pelissier to Florida. He later moved to Wingdale and has been employed by the Randy Williams family at J&J Log and Lumber Corp. for over 28 years.

He is survived by his mother, Theresa Pelissier of Danville, Quebec, his daughters, Michelle and her husband Jeff Dietz of Montana, Renee Pelissier of Dover Plains, N.Y., two grandchildren, Chelsea and Shauna Dietz of Montana, four sisters, Jocelyn Teague of Enosburg, Diane and her husband Robert Williams of Hudson, Ohio, Susan Pelissier of Swanton, Louise Luneau of Georgia Plains, two brothers, Rene Pelissier and his fiancee Nancy Pigeon of Fairfax, Pierre and his wife Dorcas Pelissier of Swanton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, his extended family the Williams family and his fellow employees of J&J Log and Lumber Corp. He was tragically predeceased by his father Laurent Pelissier, sister, Nichole Pelissier and brothers, Yvonne Pelissier and Dennis Pelissier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Lake Street, St. Albans. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in the Pelissier family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

BRIGITTE SCHADINGER

MONTGOMERY CTR. -- Brigitte Elisabeth Schadinger, 57, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at her home in Montgomery Center. She was born Brigitte Elisabeth Kuster in Modling/Vienna, Austria on Feb. 26, 1944, the only child of Bruno and Elisabeth Wildner Juster.

She attended college in Vienna, Austria where she received a degree in early childhood education. She married Wolfgang Schadinger on Nov. 11, 1967 and moved with her husband from Austria to Montgomery Center, where they were both employed as ski instructors at Jay Peak. After the birth of their first son, Stefan, she began working with her husband as the accountant and administrator of their business. She was a respected and tireless worker for many community projects. She was treasurer of both the Montgomery Town Association and the Montgomery Recreation Department. She was actively involved in fundraising efforts for the Jay Peak Ski Club and later for Burke Mountain Academy when both her sons were enrolled there.

She is survived by her husband, Wolfgang and sons, Stefan and Christoph; brother and sister-in-law, Bruno and Margit Schadinger of St. Catherine's, Ont.; brother-in-law, Baldur Schadinger of Montgomery Center; relatives in Austria, including brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Gertrud Elmer of St. Polten; and many nieces and nephews. A private service for family members was held on April 4, 2001, at Spears Funeral Home, Enosburg Falls. A graveside memorial service will be held for family and friends in late spring. Donations in her memory may be made to Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.

CARLTON COOPER

HIGHGATE CENTER -- Carlton Cooper, 60, a lifelong area resident died Tuesday evening, April 3, 2001, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.

Carlton was born in Fairfield, Feb. 2, 1941, the son of the late Leon and Anna (Boylan) Cooper. He attended Fairfield Schools and was a longtime parishioner of St. Louis Parish in Highgate Center.

Carlton is survived by three sons and their spouses, Duane and Christine Cooper of Richford, Daniel and Val Cooper of Sheldon and David and Melissa Cooper of Highgate Center; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Ann and Rodney Machia and Rosemary and Morris St. Pierre, all of Highgate Center and a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Liz Cooper of Highgate Falls. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Corey Cooper, Jamie and Danielle Cooper, Ashley and Tyler Cooper and Jessica and Nicholas Cooper; five nephews, Kirk Cooper, Greg Machia, Brian, Kevin and Glenn St. Pierre. He also leaves special friends, George and Bruce Cota of Richford and James, Gary and Michelle Murray of Enosburg Falls, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Anna Cooper and a nephew, Keith Cooper.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home in Swanton.

GEORGE AUGUST DUPRAT

ST. ALBANS -- George August DuPrat, age 77, died April 6, 2001, at home in the loving care of his devoted wife and family.

George was born in Winooski on July 19, 1923, the son of Emerick and Augusta (Patenaude) DuPrat. His early years in Winooski were filled with hunting, fishing and spending long summers at the family camp in Mallets Bay. George graduated from Cathedral High School in June 1942 and worked in the Winooski Post Office for several years.

George married Corliss Hughes at Christ The King Church in Burlington on June 11, 1949. They resided in Winooski until 1956.

George was a member of the 43rd Division in the Vermont National Guard and was Sergeant First Class in the Service Battery 206th Field Artillery Battalion of the Army of the United Sates during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in November 1951. George was proud of his service and was a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post #1 for 48 years.

Upon returning to Vermont George took a position with the Department of Employment and Training. In 1956 he was promoted to manager of the St. Albans Office. George and his family moved to St. Albans. After 33 years of dedicated service, George retired in 1985.

George was a caring and dedicated husband and father. He took great joy in his children and subsequently his grandchildren. In addition to his family, George took pleasure in woodworking, gardening and, in recent years, genealogy. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoors man and was president of the Sportsmans Club in the early seventies.

In addition to his parents, his sister Claire predeceased George. He is survived by his wife Corliss, and his sons and their spouses, Greg and his wife Carol, Michael and his wife Jackie, Brian and his wife Sue, and David and his wife Nancy. He leaves behind two sisters, Therese and her husband Thomas McCormick of Winooski, and Lucille Gertrude DuPrat of Washington, D.C. He also leaves his brother Bernard DuPrat of Swanton. George also will be missed by his ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 9, 2001, at 10 am. in St. Mary's Church. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Building Fund, 45 Fairfield St., St. Albans, VT 05478. Interment will be in the DuPrat family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

IDA D. KING

BERKSHIRE -- Ida D. King, age 80, widow of Woodrow W. King, died Friday morning, April 6, 2001, at her daughter's home in Berkshire following a long illness.

She was born in Richford Feb. 12, 1921, the daughter of the late Herbert & Elmina Bernard) Domina.

Ida had been a resident of Berkshire most of her life where she attended both the First and Second Congregational Church. She was a former member of the Grange, Ladies Aid Society, and the Dorcas Society of Berkshire Center.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Marcella & Evan Miner of Milton, Joyce & Douglas Weld of Berkshire, Carol & Gordon Ely of Worchester; two sons, Douglas & Suzanne King of Berkshire, Richard & Diane King of Highgate, one sister, Nettie Cole of Lyndonville, one brother, George Domina of Eden, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Romeo, Clarence & Almon Domina, and a grandson, Richard King, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg. Friends are invited to call on the family at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be later this spring in the East Berkshire Congregational Cemetery.

For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.

DEAN PERKINS

ST. ALBANS -- Dean Perkins, 67, died peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Holiday House in St. Albans after a long illness. He was born in Levant, Maine on July 8, 1933.

A sister, Lila Gaudet of Ashburnham, Mass. survives him, as well as a special aunt and uncle, Helen and Edward Gladden of Richford with whom he lived for many years. His brother Roy predeceased him. With his faithful guardian Peter J. Hawksworth of Enosburg Falls, Vt., he enjoyed 11 years of friendship, laughter and interesting outings.

A graveside service will be held at the family's convenience at Hillside Cemetery in Richford later this spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Franklin County Citizen Advocacy Program, c/o Barbara Sempf, PO Box 31, St. Albans, VT 05478. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.

MILDRED "MIDGE" FLANDERS

FLETCHER CENTER -- Mildred "Midge" Flanders, age 88, passed away Thursday afternoon April 5, 2001, in Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. She was born in East Fairfield on Sept. 2, 1912, daughter of the late Emerson and Clara (Whitney) Flanders. Prior to her retirement, Midge was employed as a machine operator at Fonda Container Co. in St. Albans. She attended the Binghamville United Methodist Church in Fletcher.

She is survived by one son, Duane Flanders of Fletcher, five daughters, Shirley Flanders of Richmond, Elizabeth "Betty" Poulin and her husband Allen of Fairfax, twins June Whitcomb and her husband Howard of Richmond, and Joyce Boutin and her husband Louis of Richmond, Vivian Dutil and her husband John of Richmond; two sisters, Gladys Thomas of Essex Jct., Rachael Richards of Barre, 19 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, and a very special friend and caregiver, Norma L'Esperance of St. Albans.

She was predeceased by her husband Ray Ryan Flanders on Aug. 27, 2000. She was also predeceased by two sons, Kermit Flanders in 1964, Gary Flanders in 1970; three brothers, Joshua Flanders, Norris Flanders, Francis Flanders; three sisters, Eva Deavitt, Hazel Burnor and Doris Stetson.

Visiting hours will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7, 2001, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the Binghamville United Methodist Church with Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Binghamville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Midge's memory to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478. Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax.

MARION REISSIG GATES

BURLINGTON ­ Marion Gates, 96, of Burlington, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1904 in Manchester, N.H. She attended schools there and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1925. She taught High School English and Latin in Northwood, N.H. and Proctor, Vt. While in Proctor, she met her first husband, Barton Reissig, who was working for the VT Marble Co. Two children, Barton and David resulted from this marriage.

From 1930 to 1938 she resided with her family in Swanton, Vt., where her husband supervised the quarrying of Swanton "red" marble. He was transferred to Proctor and she lived there until 1990 when she moved to Heineberg Senior Housing in Burlington. While in Burlington she also had residences at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged and Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Christian Science Church in Rutland and Burlington.

After the death of her first husband she married Harold Gates of Proctor. He predeceased her, as did Barton's wife Edith.

Marion will be remembered as an extremely loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, whose kindness and thoughtfulness touched all who came to know her.

Although her closing years were made more difficult due to failing eyesight and other infirmities associated with old age, she lived independently without complaint through her early 90s. She was invariably polite and gracious to all those whom she met and who cared for her.

She is survived by her sons, Barton of Burlington and his children, Steven Reissig, Jim Reissig and his wife Lisa and Sue Knickerbocker and her husband Jerry; David and his wife Ione and his children, Ken Reissig and his partner Jean Berthiaume, Kris Owens and her husband Kevin, and Jen King and her husband Shelby. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Marion during the past two years, the staff at St. Joseph's Home, Burlington Health and Rehab, and finally the staff on Baird 4 at Fletcher Allen. Their gracious understanding, concern and attention to the needs of her and her family was greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vermont Association for the Blind, 37 Elmwood Ave., Burlington, VT 05401. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Christian Science Church in Burlington. Arrangements are by the Ready Funeral Home, North Chapel, 934 North Ave., Burlington.

KIMBERLY JANE HOLBROOK

ST. JOHNSBURY -- Kimberly Jane Holbrook, age 35, died suddenly Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Northwest Region Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vt. The daughter of William Michael and Phyllis "Oliver" Minchull. Kim was born Sept. 13, 1965 in St. Jay. She married Kevin G. Holbrook 13 years ago and worked at E.H.V. for ten years. Kim was an outgoing and loving person who did not know a stranger and was a loving, caring friend to all.

Kim loved camping, four-wheeling, fishing and racing. She is survived by her husband Kevin G. Holbrook of St. Jay; her mother, Phyllis Minchull of St. Jay; grandparents, William May and Betty Jay Minchull of Pussumsic, and Grammy Hood and brother William Kevin Minchull of St. Jay; a favorite nephew Michael Minchull of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Dustin of Waterford, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Kim was preceded in death by her father, Will Minchull in December 1980.

Funeral services will be April 8, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Syles Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Syles Funeral Home on Summer St., St. Johnsbury, Vt. Contributions may be made through the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Syles Funeral Home, 525 Summer St., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
