JACOB MICHAEL PARKER
ST. ALBANS - Jacob Michael Parker, infant son of Dustin Parker and Ashley Cote, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, as the result of an automobile accident in Stonycreek, Pa.

Jacob was born Aug. 7, 2004, in Burlington. His family will remember the way he would tilt his head with a great big smile, and the way his hair would bounce around when he would dance. His favorite color was red; his favorite toys were Dancing Elmo and his red wagon. When Jacob wanted you to know that he liked something he would lick it, he really enjoyed candy canes.

He is survived by his parents, Dustin Parker and Ashley Cote of St. Albans; paternal grandmother, Angel Beeney and her husband, Charles of Eldorado, KS; maternal grandparents, Lisa Curley and her husband, Jeremy of Pittsfield, Mass., and Elson Cote and his wife Dora, of Williston; maternal great-grandmother, Shirley Blanchard of Essex; several aunts, uncles and cousins, including a special uncle, Ryan Cote of Midwest City, Okla.; special aunts, Casandra “Aunty Flea” Parker of St. Albans, Melinda Parker of Vergennes, Laci Cote of Charlottesville, Va., and Lily Cote of Williston; special great aunts, Lynda Hemingway of St. Albans, and Emmy Smith and her husband Maurice “Butch” of Richford; and a special cousin, also Jacob’s baby sitter, Amanda “Aunt Deda” Gauthier of St. Albans.

Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment took place in the Dudley family lot in the East Franklin Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

For those who wish, contributions in Jacob’s memory may be made to help his parents purchase a monument, C/O Lynda Hemingway, P.O. Box 482, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls is in charge of arrangements.

LUCILLE P. MILLS, R.N.
A celebration of the life of Lucille P. Mills, who passed away on June 20, 2005, was held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with the Reverend Herman Benjamin, Pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. Music was by guitarist and vocalist, Mary Jo Gillilan. The Holy Scriptures were proclaimed by Lucille's grandchildren, Lauren Mills and Chris Powell. Words of remembrance were offered by Lucille's son, Tom Mills.

In attendance was representation from St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Beverly Court neighbors, former co-workers of the St. Albans and Kerbs Hospitals, and several of her weekly tennis partners.

Following Prayers of Committal by Pastor Benjamin, interment took place in the Mills-Courtney lot in Greenwood Cemetery.

A luncheon followed in St. Paul's Fellowship Hall hosted by the women of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Assisting the family was the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

THOMAS CARROLL QUISER
ST. ALBANS BAY / ALBURG - Thomas Carroll Quiser, 68, a native and longtime Alburg resident and more recently of Maquam Shore in St. Albans Bay, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2005, in the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans Town.

Born in Alburg on Feb. 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Clara (Martin) Quiser.

He attended schools in Alburg graduating from Alburg High School and later earned an electrical engineering degree taking classes in the evenings. He was active in numerous ham radio and computer Clubs, but was happiest when he was communicating to 2 Meter Stations throughout the world while participating in various contests. He owned and operated Tom’s CB Sales and Service and was a member of Columbus Lodge 11, F&AM of Alburg.

He leaves his son, Jonathan Quiser and friend, Rachelle St. Hillaire of Alburg; his daughter, Celeste Howser and her daughter, Amelia Howser; and a sister, A. Faith Carcone and husband, Art of New York; as well as several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Quiser’s request there will be no public visitation or funeral. There will, however, be a small gathering to celebrate his life on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of his son Jon Quiser in South Alburg.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the Columbus Lodge 11 F&AM in care of Leonard James, P.O. Box 327, Alburg, Vt. 05440.

Arrangements have been under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.

EDWARD M. FULTON
LEBANON, N.H. - Edward Melvin Fulton, 90, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, in the Extended care unit of Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, N.H.

Born in West Lebanon, N.H. on Oct. 15, 1914, he was the son of John L. and Addie C. (Freeman) Fulton. He attended schools in West Lebanon, and graduated from high school in South Royalton, Vt. After high school, he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps and then began his 35-year career with New England Telephone, where he worked his way up from lineman to supervisory positions in the company.

He married Pearl Cutler of East Montpelier in St. Johnsbury, Vt. on Aug. 5, 1938. New England Telephone moved them frequently and they took that opportunity to make many friends in St. Johnsbury, St. Albans, Rutland, Danville, Billerica (Mass.) and White River Junction, Vt.

He was predeceased by his wife; and two brothers, Kenneth and Robert F. Fulton. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Flora Fulton Tutiakoff of Moretown and Phyllis Cutler Martin of Montpelier; nieces, Patricia Martin Brown of Newark and Sarah Fulton Holland of Moretown; nephews, John Fulton of Moretown, Scott Fulton of Somerville, Mass., Andrew Fulton of Westford, Douglas Martin of Ridgefield, Conn. and Steven Martin of Graniteville; and many grand nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at the West Lebanon Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are entrusted to Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, Vt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alice Peck Memorial Day Hospital, 125 Mascoma St., Lebanon, N.H. 03766.

SGT MICHAEL A. BENSON
COLCHESTER - Army Sgt. 1st Class Michael A. Benson, 40, died on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., with his loving family by his side, from wounds sustained during an improvised explosive attack in Baghdad, Iraq, on Aug. 2.

Michael was born on May 15, 1965, in Winona, Minn., the son of Bernard and Norma (Russell) Benson.

Michael entered the Army in December of 1985 and trained to be an infantryman. He was a member of the 2nd Brigade, 78th Division (Training Support) deployed to Iraq in March as part of a Special Police Transition Team to train an Iraqi Public Order Division and its subordinate brigades and battalions to take over security operations in support of the burgeoning Iraqi government. The 2nd Brigade, 78th Division is an Army Reserve unit comprised of Army Reserve and active duty Soldiers with the mission of training Reserve Component Soldiers and units. SFC Benson was an 11 Bravo Infantryman, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 314th Infantry Regiment based at Fort Drum, N.Y.

On Oct. 29, 1997, he married Elizabeth Brown in Colchester, Vt.

Michael is survived by his wife Elizabeth Benson of Colchester; his mother, Norma Benson of Winona, Minn.; his brothers, David Benson and his wife, Gena of Winona, Richard Benson of Winona, and Robert Benson of Rosemount, Minn.; by his father and mother-in-law, Neale and Beverly Brown of Colchester, Vt.; his sisters-in-law, Paula Pahnke of Colchester, Sarah Malusky and her husband, Aaron of Mundelein, Ill., Christine Hazard and her husband, Brian of Alburg, Rebecca Brown of Colchester; and his brother-in-law, Harvey Brown and his wife, Terry Moy-Brown of Sunrise, Fla.; and by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Bernard.

Michael was a selfless person. Everything he did was to the betterment of others. He was very dedicated to his family and to his unit. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service for Michael, with full military honors, will be held on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Rock, located approximately ¼ mile south of I-89, Exit 19 in St. Albans. Burial will follow in the Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, Vt.

For those who wish to make contributions in Michael’s memory, memorials may be made to the Fisher House National Naval Medical Center, 24 Stokes Rd., Bethesda, Md. 20814-5002.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening, Aug. 18, from 5 to 8 pm. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

JAMES C. ‘JIMMY’ JOHNSON
James Christopher “Jimmy” Johnson died unexpectedly in Montrose, Colo. on Aug. 5, 2005. He was 60 years old.

Jimmy was born on July 11, 1945, to Paul F. and Eileen S. Johnson in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School in 1963 where he participated in football, basketball and track. At one time he held the county scholastic record in the pole vault. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Cortland State, and a Master’s Degree in Criminology from Texas A & M University. He first worked for the Texas State Department of Parole and the U.S. Border Patrol, before retiring as a Special Agent from the Immigration and Naturalization Service after more than 20 years of service. Jimmy was also an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his mother of Holladay, Tenn.; two brothers: Peter of South Carolina and Timothy of Arkansas; and five sisters: Judith and Kathryn of New York, Nancy of Louisiana, Barbara of Tennessee and Virginia of Colorado. Also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in Jimmy’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Grand View Cemetery in Montrose, Colo.

FRANK W. SNOW III
BENNINGTON/SWANTON - Frank W. Snow III, 40, a resident of Wheeler Round, Swanton, and a former long time resident of Bennington, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, in Swanton following a swimming accident.

Born in Bennington, Aug. 2, 1965, he was the son of Frank W. and Joan (Sawtell) Snow. He received his education in the Bennington schools and was a 1984 graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School.

Frank was employed at the Vermont state office building on Veterans Memorial Drive in Bennington from 1984 until moving to Swanton in March 2004. Since that time he had been employed as the armory caretaker at the Mountain Warfare School in Jericho.

Frank married the former Georgina Garcia in Jamaica on March 3, 2005.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his ATV. Frank was a member of the Franklin County Sportsman’s Club, ATV-VASA and Railtown in St. Albans where he was a yellow belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. He was also currently serving as president of the Vermont State Employees Association for Franklin and Grand Isle counties. Frank was also a member of the Vermont State Guard and had recently completed his S.E.R.T.S. training for search and rescue.

Survivors include his wife, Georgina Snow and two step-sons, Andrew Perez and Matthew Perez, all of Swanton; his parents, Frank W. and Joan Snow of Bennington; his paternal grandmother, Hazel Snow of Bennington; his brother SPC Richard Setzer, VTNG of Shaftsbury, who is currently serving in Iraq; a sister, Debbie McLean of Wisconsin; a niece and nephew, Crystal and Ricky Setzer of Bennington; two aunts, Doris West of Brewster, Mass. and Anita Rossberg of Beverly Hills, Calif.; an uncle, James Sawtell of Moore, Okla.; and several cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robin Greene officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Due to Frank’s love of flowers friends are invited to make floral donations or contributions in Frank’s memory may be made to the Vermont State Guard through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, Vt. 05201.

CARL S. JUNG
GEORGIA - Longtime Georgia (Vt.) resident, Carl S. Jung, died in the early hours of Friday, Aug. 12. He was four months away from his 100th birthday.
Carl was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Elsie R (Ostrander) Jung. He is survived by two daughters: Carol Schneider of Queensbury, N.Y. and Pauline Kehoe and her husband, Robert Devino of Warwick, N.Y. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Danny Schneider of County Waterford, Ireland; Heather Hogan and her husband, Steve, of Burlington; Holly Sherman and her husband, Anson Sherman of East Highgate; Jaemi Kehoe, of Warwick N.Y.; and Christopher Kehoe of Warwick, N.Y. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Erikka and Monica Sherman, of East Highgate; several nieces and nephews, including nephew Brooke Ostrander and wife, Carolann of Swanton.

Mr. Jung retired to Vermont in 1964, after a 39-year career as a physical education teacher, and a track coach in New York City High Schools. After his retirement from coaching, he was honored by having an annual cross-country meet named for him.

In Vermont, Mr. Jung served as a trustee of the Georgia Town Public Library, and the treasurer of the Georgia Plains Historical Society.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his memory, to the Georgia Town Public Library, Route 7, Georgia, Vt.

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at the Georgia Plains Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m. John D. Workman of the A.W. Rich Funeral Home, Fairfax Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
