WESLEY EARL DUNBAR
MILTON, Vt. / BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Wesley Earl Dunbar, 62, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Wesley was born in Bloomington, Ind. on Dec. 3, 1942, the son of Robert and Florine (King) Dunbar.

A 1960 graduate of Bloomington High School, Wes served honorably in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in St. Albans, at the Radar Base and in Peshawar, Pakistan. While serving in Vermont, he met Gloria Barber. They married on July 4, 1964, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton.

Wesley retired in 2004 after 38 years as a managing supervisor in financial services.

Wesley was a retired managing supervisor with Citi Financial and recently a Senior Loan Officer working with Matt Montgomery at Accelerated Mortgage.

In addition to his wife Gloria, and his beloved three cats, Wesley is survived by his mother, Florine Dunbar; his brothers and sisters: Richard Dunbar and wife, Karra, Nancy Shiflet and husband, Bob, Carole Stancomb and husband, Bob, Jim Dunbar and wife, Barbara, Cathy Sparks and husband, Tim, Terri Denson and husband, Gary; sister-in-law, Mary Dunbar; and an aunt, Maude Dunbar, all of Bloomington. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Beverly Barber; by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Harry Barber and his wife, Kim, and Nancy Hamlin all of Milton, Beverly Lysobey and her husband, Wayne of Norwalk, Conn.; by many nieces and nephews; and by his very special friends, Marc and Michel Briod of Mine Hill, N.J.

Wesley was predeceased by his father, Robert Dunbar; his brother, Steve Dunbar; a very special uncle and aunt, Walter and Louise Dunbar; his father-in-law, Harry Barber; and his brothers-in-law, Ronnie Barber and Bob Hamlin.

Wes led an enthusiastically active life, including traveling throughout the United States with Gloria and their cats in their motor home. He was also a member of numerous organizations.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Milton. A Memorial Service will be held in Bloomington, Ind. at a later date to be announced.

Memorials in Wesley’s name may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 8660 Guion Rd., Indianapolis, Ind., 46268.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton, Vt.

MAXIM ‘MAXIE’ F. FORTUNE SR.
COLCHESTER - Maxim “Maxie” F. Fortune Sr., 79, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at home, surrounded by his loving family, following a short battle with lung cancer.

Maxie was born on June 18, 1926, in Proctor, Vt., the son of Leon and Evelyn (Barney) Fortune.

At an early age he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

He was married to Diana M. Fortune who predeceased him in 1984. Maxie remarried on Nov. 11, 1991, to Janice Miller, who survives him.

Maxie was a retired teamster of over 34 years, employed for many years by Maislin and H.P. Welch. He loved camping, hunting and fishing with his sons. He had a great love for the ocean and especially loved long walks along uncrowded beaches with his wife Janice. Maxie also had a passion for lottery tickets.

Following retirement, he greatly enjoyed working for various car dealerships, which he did for over 14 years, delivering vehicles throughout New England.

In addition to his wife Janice, he is survived by his children: Maxim F. Fortune Jr. and his wife, Sandy of Waterbury, Jeffrey Fortune and his wife, Sharon of Huntington, Sandra Tillotson and her husband, David of Jericho, his stepdaughters, Mona Piette and her husband, Louis of Irasburg, Aimee Gilfillan and her husband, Brian of Colchester; his grandchildren: Joanne, Teri, Scott, Tim, Natasha, Holly, Stephanie, Tim, Zackary, Allie, Samuel and Logan, and by six great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Fortune of Burlington; and sister-in-law, Mary Fairburn of Lawrence, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Lily.

Maxie was predeceased by a son, John Fortune in 1964; and his brothers, John and Jim Fortune; and sister, Ruth Medeiros.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

Memorials may be made to the VNA, Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446; or the American Lung Assoc., 30 Farrell St., Burlington, Vt. 05403-9987.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the funeral in the Minor Funeral Home.

KENNETH GLENN ADAMS

MILTON - Kenneth Glenn Adams, 85, of Maplewood Ave., died unexpectedly at home, Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005.

Ken was born on Aug. 21, 1920, in Rochester, Vt., the son of Gordon Bennett and Florence Parker Adams. He graduated from Milton High School in 1939.

On May 3, 1941, Ken married Irene Desranleau at St. Ann’s Rectory in Milton.

Mr. Adams worked for the Public Electric Light Corp. of Milton before serving with the 1412th Army Air Force Base Unit in the European Theater until January of 1946. Upon his discharge, Ken was employed by the State of Vermont District 5 Highway Department for 32 years, retiring in 1982.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Irene; by his children: Larry Adams and his wife, Dorothy of Grand Isle; Annette Preiss of Milton; Pamela Luther and her husband, Edward of East Hardwick; Sheila Babson and her husband, Gordon of Williston; Gordon Adams and his wife, Stephanie of Milton; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jeffrey Adams and his sons, Jacob and Joshua of Milton; Kurt and Judy Preiss and their children, Nicholas and Emma of Milton; Erik and Lori Preiss and their children, Alexandra and Madison of Underhill; Annika Preiss of Shelburne; Monika and Brian Hotaling of Colchester; Katrina Preiss of Milton; Nathan and Melissa Luther of Stafford, Va., Nicole L. and Bret Hodgdon of Jericho; Mark Babson and Cassandra Babson of Williston; Nicholas and Jonathan Adams of Milton; his sisters Ruth Barrows and husband, Robert of Milton; Virginia Patno and husband, Elon of Grand Isle, his sister-in-law, Anne Adams of Eveleth, Minn.; and by many nieces and nephews.

Ken was predeceased by his brother, Lyndon Adams; sister, Marion Blow; and son-in-law, Ernst Preiss.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Ken’s name may be made to the Milton Rescue, P.O. Box 15, Milton, Vt. 05468.

Friends may call on the family on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

DIANE L. BURNHAM
NO. TROY / RICHFORD - Diane L. Burnham, age 49, passed away Oct. 29, 2005, at the North Country Hospital in Newport.

She was born Aug. 7, 1956, in Cowansville, Que. Canada, the daughter of Donald J. Burnham and the late Ida Mae (Wright) Burnham.

Diane was a resident of No. Troy for the past six years and was a former resident of Richford and Enosburg. She enjoyed playing Bingo and lottery tickets. Most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Hoague and her fiancé, Leo Mills of No. Troy; her son, Michael Hoague and his wife, Wanda of St. Albans; a brother and his wife, Lewis and Debbie Burnham of Lennoxville, Que. Canada; three sisters: Louise Benoit and her husband, Claude of Stanstead, Que. Canada, Delphia Goodhue of St. Albans, and Donna Burnham of Lennoxville, Que. Canada; her grandchildren: Shelbie, Katherine, Rebecca and Laura Mills of No. Troy, Michael III, Napolion, and Katisha Hoague of Highgate, and Isaih Gibbons-Hoague of St. Albans; three step-grandchildren: Shyenne and Zacharia Burnor of St. Albans, and Ariel Craig of Highgate; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Heather Goodhue and her companion, Tammy. Besides her mother she was predeceased by a daughter, Valarie Ann Hoague; and her favorite aunt and uncle, Cora Belle and Linwood Steinhour.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the East Richford Slide Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. There will be no visiting hours.

For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to help the family purchase a monument for Diane, C/O Michael Hoague, 47 Nason St., Lot 26, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Spears Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

WILLIAM DAVIS ‘BILL’ MASKELL, SR.
SWANTON - Funeral Services were held Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778, Honor Guard Team of Swanton officiated. Those participating were Commander Charles Magnant, Chaplain Noah Lapan Jr., Quarter Master and Adjutant Rene Rocheleau, Officer of the Day Larry Paxman, Homer Domingue Senior Vice Commander. Other members of the honor guard were Warren Fournier, Howard Chandler, Pete Poquette and Gary Rice.

Among the other delegations in attendance were representatives from the Franklin County Home Health Agency, Missisquoi Valley Rescue, Abenaki Nation of Vermont, S.T. Griswold, Maskell Fencing and Guardrails, Swanton Village and Town Offices, Vermont Precision Tools, Porter’s Bike Shop, American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1, St. Albans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 778 Auxiliary.

Interment will take place later at the convenience of the family.

DONALD JOHN SULLIVAN
Donald John Sullivan, age 21, of St. Albans, Vt. passed away suddenly on Oct. 8, 2005, in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was born in St. Albans, Aug. 24, 1984. Donald is the beloved son of Dianna Westover (Marcel Begnoche, fiancé), and the son of David Sullivan of St. Albans.

He was predeceased by loving grandparents, Richard Westover, Donald and Jean Sullivan, all of St. Albans. Survivors include his grandmother, Alberta Westover of St. Albans; uncle, Timothy Westover of St. Albans; cousins: Timothy Westover Jr. of Swanton, Jessica Westover and Melissa Plouffe, of St. Albans; aunt, Donna Sullivan of Mcpean, Ontario Canada; and many other relatives and friends.

Also mourning his death are his good neighbors, Flora and Richard Begnoche of St. Albans, and the Begnoche family of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and “man’s best friend, ” his faithful companion, She-Bear, now residing in West Palm Beach.

Donald attended St. Albans City Elementary and Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. He attended South Palm Community Church, West Palm Beach, led by Pastor Stan Coleman.

He enjoyed camping, ice fishing, Monster Truck Jams with his dad, joy-riding in many of his cars, and off-roading on his ATV. He was fond of music and his favorite song by Stevie Ray Vaughn, “The Sky is Crying.”

Memorial celebrations will be held privately on Nov. 13, 2005.

Those who wish to honor Donald’s memory may contribute in his name to Champlain Drug & Alcohol Services, 172 Fairfield St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Dianna, Donald’s mother, realizes that something young and precious has been taken from us; someone who was a part of us, part of the future, a future of lost. Her sorrow leads her to express a message of hope - the hope that others will recognize that some bad choices could cost them their life. If you can’t help yourself, get help, please. ALEXINA M. LEDOUX
ST. ALBANS CITY / SWANTON - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was concelebrated Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. from Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in St. Albans City. The pastor, Father Maurice J. Roy was the principle celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating was Father Joseph T. Sullivan, pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish, Fairfield Center and St. Anthony and St. George Parishes, East Fairfield. Assisting as Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Duane Langlois.

Also present in the sanctuary was Father John J. Meagher, SSE pastor of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Swanton and St. Louis Parish, Highgate Center. Music was provided by guitarist and soloist, Amy Parker together with soloist, Maurice Gauthier. Fabio Choiniere and Robert St. Pierre served as Ministers of the Altar.

The White Funeral Pall was draped over Alexina’s casket by Sister Yvonne Martell, DHS and Mrs. Yvette Ouimet. The crucifix was then placed by cousin, Mary McDevitt. Readings from both the Old and New Testament as well as The Prayers of Intercession were proclaimed by Sister Cecile LeBeau, CSC.

Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Daughters of the Holy Spirit and Associates Program, Franklin / Grand Isle Foster Grandparent Program, Lake Street Housing for the Elderly, Nativity Parish Ladies of St. Anne and the parish communities of Holy Angels, Nativity, St. Louis, St. Anne’s Shrine and St. Amadeus.

Interment followed in the Ledoux family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Swanton with Father Roy reading the committal prayers.

The bearers were Alexina’s cousins, John McDevitt and Harold Ponton and Attorney Lawrence H. Bruce Jr. and Gary Centabar.

During the visitation period the Nativity Parish Ladies of St. Anne prayed their Chaplet and read the prayers for a deceased member of the Ladies of St. Anne led by President Mrs. Yvette Ouimet.

JUDITH THERRIEN RYAN
Funeral services for Judith Therrien Ryan, who passed away on Oct. 21, 2005, were held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at 8 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Leonidas B. Laroche, Pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Words remembrance were shared by Judy's two granddaughters; Heather and Amber Reynolds. Special music was written and performed Judy's niece; Valerie Chagnon.

In attendance was representation from Downtown Cuts, Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion Auxiliary, former employees of Central Vermont Railroad and New England Central Railroad.

Prayers of Committal and interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Sheldon. A reception followed at the home of Karen and Alan Reynolds, hosted by her family.

Assisting Judy's family was the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.
