RONALD "JOE" BEDARD

MILTON -- Ronald "Joe" Bedard, 55, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 25, 2001, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with his loving wife Patsy by his side.

Joe was born on April 6, 1946 in Burlington, the son of Adelard and Ethel (Gardner) Bedard.

He took great pride in serving his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Forrestal Carrier, based out of Virginia Beach.

On May 29, 1969, he married Patsy Trudell in Burlington. He had worked for over 23 years with the Vermont Maple Orchards in Essex.

He was very much an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family. He enjoyed his dachshund Mugsy, his pet parrot and his cat Spencer.

In addition to his wife Patsy of over 32 years, Joe is survived by his parents, Adelard and Ethel Bedard of Milton, by his grandmother Cornelia Gardner of Burlington, by his mother-in-law, Doris Trudell of Burlington, by his brother Edward "Buzz" Bedard and his wife Lile of Milton, by his sisters, Linda Forgan and her husband Clay of Milton, Penny DeBono and her husband Jay of So. Hero, and Jackie Shanahan and her husband John of Stanford, Conn., and by several nieces and nephews.

As per Joe's request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service at this time. Memorials in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

ROBERT B. CORLISS

ST. ALBANS -- Robert B. Corliss, 87, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away Tuesday morning, June 26, 2001 at Verdelle Village ECF. He was born in Swanton January 21, 1914, the son of the late Gaylord M. and Lois (Beals) Corliss. He was an agent for Nationwide Insurance for many years.

Bob was a very active in St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards and was a member of the Phi Alpha Class. He was also Lay Delegate at the Annual Conference several years. He served his country in the Army during WWII and was a member of Green Mountain Post #1, American Legion. He also belonged to Franklin Lodge #4, F&AM, Mt. Sinai Temple #3, AAONMS and other masonic organizations. He delivered "Meals on Wheels" for many years.

Bob was an ardent sports fan and could be seen at most BFA events as well as those of UVM, the Vermont Expos and some Boston Red Sox games. He loved to hike and was a member of the Green Mountain Club which named him "Man of the Year" this year for his extraordinary efforts and caring of the Long Trail. He also had a shelter named for him on the Laraway Section of the Long Trail which was his section to maintain. He was a director of Camp Missisquoi and worked there for many years. He enjoyed cross country skiing, snowshoeing, the Green Mountains and sunsets.

Survivors include two sisters; Elizabeth H. Corliss of St. Albans, with whom he made his home, and Edith B. Morrison of Reading, MA, nieces and nephews; Anna Lou Morrison, Susan Fiorenza, Timothy Morrison, David Morrison, Peter Fry, Andrew Fry and Kevin Fry, a brother- in-law, the Reverend Stanley Fry and several cousins and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Anita Fry in January of 2000 and Hazel Lillian Corliss at age 7 months.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Reverend Oren Lane will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either The Memorial Fund of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 11 Church Street, St. Albans 05478 or the Green Mountain Club, 4711 Waterbury-Stowe Road, Waterbury Ctr., VT 05677. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main Street, St. Albans.

MARGARET R. "DOLLY" (CROSBY) MALONE

ST. ALBANS, VT./EAST BOSTON, MASS. -- Mrs. Margaret R. "Dolly" Malone, age 77, died peacefully Sunday morning, June 24, 2001, at the Redstone Village in St. Albans of complications associated with her long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. With God's mercy she joins family and friends who have gone before. We rejoice in the blessing of the joys she brought into our lives. She was born to Margaret (Cody) and Michael J. Crosby on Dec. 17, 1923. She was employed by the New Hampshire Insurance Co., in Cambridge, Mass. for 25 years, retiring in 1990.

Her survivors include her two children and their families, son John E. "Jack" Malone, Jr. and his wife Jamie Malone, grandsons, Jeremy and his wife Christina Malone and Liam Malone, all of St. Albans, daughter Margaret "Peggy" (Malone) Bruno and her husband Alan Bruno, grandchildren, Kelly Bruno, Kevin Bruno and Dennis Bruno, all of Winthrop, Mass.; also her three loving sisters, Esther (Crosby) Condon of Belmont, Mass., Lorraine (Crosby) Chagnon of Colchester, Conn., and Patricia (Crosby) Henneberry of Framingham, Mass., her aunt Catherine Cody of East Boston, Mass., their families, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends whose lives she touched both in Vermont and Massachusetts.

Special thanks are extended to the staffs of the Memories Disorder Clinic of the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, the Champlain Valley Area Agency on Aging, Club Respite of St. Albans and especially to Dr. Toby Sadkin, M.D. of St. Albans and the staff of the Redstone Villa in St. Albans, who lovingly administered to Dolly's needs in her decline, providing her with love, compassion and dignity.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 29, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the St. John the Evangelist Church in Winthrop, Mass. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the MaGrath Funeral Home, 325 Chelsea St., East Boston, Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer, Green Mountain Chapter, PO Box 1139, Montpelier, VT 05601 or the Champlain Valley Area Agency on Aging, PO Box 158, Winooski, VT 05404. Arrangements are entrusted to the MaGrath Funeral Home in East Boston, and the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home in St. Albans.

IRIS ANN COLEMAN BARKER

BURLINGTON -- Iris A. Barker, 69, of Burlington, died on Monday, June 25, 2001, at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

She was born in St. Albans, Vt. on July 25, 1932, the daughter of the late William and Diane Coleman.

Iris enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Gabriel Boutin and her husband Andrew of Essex Jct.; two sons, Russell Barker of Burlington and Gary Kirby of Ohio; her grandson, Elliot Boutin and two sisters, Carol Callihan and her husband Garland of South Carolina, and Brenda Howell and her husband Alvin of Texas.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at 11 a.m. in New Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Plattsburgh Ave., Burlington. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington.

RODNEY E. CAMPBELL

MILTON -- Rodney E. Campbell, 68, of Milton died Saturday, June 23, 2001, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington following a short illness.

Rod was born March 20, 1933 in Adamant, the son of Roscoe and Jennie Dunham Campbell. He graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1951. Rod served his country with the United States Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict. On Sept. 29, 1956 he married Elaine Tatro in Burlington.

Mr. Campbell worked for 36 years in the Banking Industry. He was first employed by the Howard National Bank and later the Merchants Bank from which he retired in 1989 as Vice President. For several years he was treasurer for the Bennett C. Douglass Foundation of Burlington. During his retirement Rod and Elaine opened Rainbow's Garden Floral Shop in Milton which they operated for 18 years.

A member of Seneca Lodge #40 F&AM Milton, Rod also belonged to the Elks Lodge, BPOE #916 in Burlington.

He is survived by his wife Elaine of Milton and their children, Ricky James Campbell and his wife Diana of Florence and Robin Scott Campbell and his wife Dolores of Essex Jct. His grandcihldren, Ryan John, Ross James and Jesse A.; his brother Larry Campbell of Endicott, N.Y., and his sister, Regina Newfield and her husband Ronald of Fletcher; his mother-in-law, Lois Tatro of Burlington, his aunt Luna Dailey of Ashland, N.H. and his niece Heather Igoe and her family, as well as several cousins. Rod was predeceased by his parents, his father-in-law, James Tatro and his daughter-in-law, Linda Campbell.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the United Church of Milton with the Reverend Jeffrey Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow with a Masonic Committal Service in the Eden Corners Cemetery in Eden.

A gathering will be held on Wednesday where the family will greet friends at 10 a.m. until the hour of the service in the Church Hall, located on Main Street in Milton.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Rod's memory to Seneca Lodge #40 F&AM, in care of Burton Riley, 1 Herrick Avenue, Milton, VT 05468.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home of Milton.

JEAN MARC GODBOUT

HOLLYWOOD, FLA./RICHFORD, VT. -- Jean Marc Godbout, age 69, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, in Hollywood, Fla., following a long illness.

He was born in St. Pierre Baptiste, P.Q., June 26, 1931, the son of the late Wilfrid & Marie Anne (Roy) Godbout.

Jean Marc is survived by his wife Mariette (St. Pierre) Godbout, two sons, Jocelyn Godbout of Levittown, Pa., and Jerry Godbout of South Bend, Ind.; three brothers and their wives, Jules Emile and Marielle Godbout of Plessisville, P.Q., Leopold & Francoise Godbout of St. Pierre Baptiste, P.Q., Raymond & Cecile Godbout of Laurierville, P.Q.; four sisters, Yvette St. Pierre of Inverness, P.Q., Mariane & Andre Content of Ottawa, Ont.; Laurence & Jules Emile Samson of Laurierville, P.Q., and Gilberte Godbout of Victoriaville, P.Q.; several nieces and nephews.

He married Mariette St. Pierre in Laurierville, Que. on May 18, 1957. Their eldest son Jocelyn was born March 2, 1958 and they then moved to Manchester, N.H., and while living there Jean Marc began a career in Construction and Carpentry. Their second son Jerry was born Aug. 8, 1969. In 1978 they moved to Southern Florida and became involved in motel management and also remained active in carpentry and construction.

Friends are invited to call on the family Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford, Vt.

Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. For those who wish, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, VT Division, 13 Loomis St., Montpelier, VT 05602.

Spears Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MARCEL GERARD TARTE

HIGHGATE CENTER ­ Marcel Gerard Tarte, 49, a lifelong resident of this community, died early Monday morning, June 25, 2001, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Marcel was born in St. Albans Jan. 19, 1952, the son of Gerard and Jeannette (Tremblay) Tarte. He attended Highgate High School and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church.

Until illness forced him to stop working, Marcel had been employed with the Peter Foster Trucking Company. In earlier years he had also been employed by J. Rainville and Sons, Inc. (SURGE) in Highgate Center and also worked for M&T Sand and Gravel for several years.

Marcel had an expert ability working with stained glass and had donated many of his glass works to the Swanton Public Library and several of the area churches. He also enjoyed antiques and gardening.

In addition to his mother and father, Gerard and Jeannette Tarte of Highgate Center, Marcel leaves two sons, Gregory and Zachary Tarte and their mother, Rebecca Tarte, all of Highgate Center; three sisters and their husbands, Pauline and Gordon Beyor of Alburg, Denise and George Sample of Mooers Forks, N.Y., and Monica and Leeward Miller of Mooers, N.Y.; six nephews and one niece.

Marcel was predeceased by his daughter, Olivia Tarte on April 6, 1995, and by a nephew, Brian Beyor on May 25, 1991.

There will be no public calling hours. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 28, 2001, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street in Highgate Center. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Louis Cemetery. Following the prayers of committal the family will receive friends at a luncheon reception held in the Father Jean Paul Laplante Parish Center. Gifts in Marcel's memory may be made to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, PO Box 22, Swanton, VT 05488.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, Swanton, VT.
