MARY ANNA DUBUQUE
MILTON - Mary Anna Dubuque, 87, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, April 8, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Mary was born on Feb. 27, 1919, in Winooski, the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Correau) Southwell. She had worked at the Wells Benrus Jewelry Factory where she retired.

Mary was a member of the VFW Post 782 of Burlington. She loved to crochet, and enjoyed search and find word puzzles. She especially enjoyed going and listening to bands, which was what she was doing Saturday evening at the VFW in Swanton.

She was married to William Ryan Sr. who predeceased her. She later married Francis Dubuque who also predeceased her.

Mary is survived by her children: Kathleen “Marge” Forant, with whom she made her home in Milton, William Ryan Jr. and his wife, Sally of Milton, James Ryan of Cambridge, Jane Gordon of Milton; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Chamberlain; her grandson, Russell Chamberlain; her son-in-law, Willis Gordon in 1996; her brother, Roger Southwell; her sister, Beatrice Little; a nephew, Adam Gordon; and her dog and companion, Muffin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton. Burial will be on Thursday, April 13, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. in the Milton Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton this evening, April 10, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. Father Feltz will conduct a wake service at 8:45 p.m. during visiting hours.

LAWRENCE A. LETOURNEAU
ALBURGH - Funeral Services were held Friday, April 7, 2006, at 1 p.m. from the Union Bible Church. The Reverend Doctor John C. Kehoe officiated. Music was provided by pianist, Naomi Valardille.

Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Island in the Sun Senior Citizens, Kaiser Farms, Savage’s Bargain Outlet, Coldwell Bankers Island Realty, The Sportsman’s Inn, American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60, Alburgh, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9653 Morrisville and the Union Bible Church Community.

Interment followed in the Letourneau family lot in Bush Cemetery with Doctor Kehoe reading the committal prayers. The bearers were Paul, Todd and David Letourneau, Michael Savage, Allen Perrea and Erwin Arnold.

Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Headquarters, 1st Battalion, 172nd Armor, Honor Guard Team. Officer in Charge was SFC Tina Churchill. Members of the Firing Party were SFC Edward Deuso, SFC Dean Tipper, SSG Skip Lewis, SGT Tom Connley, SGT Jay West, SGT Jeff Wells and SPC Brian Robtoy. Taps was sounded by Bugler, SSG Leonard McLeon. The American flag, which draped the United States Navy and World War II Veterans casket, was folded by SFC Dean Tipper and SSG Skip Lewis and presented to Mrs. Norma Letourneau by SFC Tina Churchill.

Following The Prayers of Committal and Military Services a Bereavement Luncheon for family and friends was served in the church fellowship hall hosted by members of the parish.

NANCY JEAN BROWN
ST. ALBANS - A Service of Worship and Thanksgiving for Nancy Jean Brown, who passed away on March 26, 2006, was held on Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational Church with the Reverend Judy Steger Kennedy officiating. Organist and vocalist was Mary Jo Gillilan.

Words of remembrance were shared by Nancy’s husband, Dick; son, Jeff; grandson, Hunter; and granddaughter, Grace.

In attendance was representation from nursing staff, laboratory, administration, and board of directors at Northwestern Medical Center, the Red Hat Society, Franklin County United Way, former superintendents and principals of the Franklin West Supervisory Union, current and former teachers and school board members, and former students at Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax, Sheldon Schools, Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, Northside Baptist Church, Champlain Chevrolet in Enosburg, and Vermont Gas Systems.

Following the service a reception for family and friends was held at the home of Fred and Betty Anderson.

The Heald Funeral assisted the family with arrangements.

WILLIAM SULLIVAN
ST. ALBANS - Mr. William P. Sullivan, age 91, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, in the Franklin County Rehab Center. He was born Dec. 31, 1914, in New York City, son of Dennis E. Sullivan and Alice (Putnam) Sullivan.
In the 1930*s, Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Cross River, N.Y. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army as a Tech Sergeant at Fort Lewis in Washington and was an MP in Scotts Bluff, Neb. He married Ellen Greeley, Oct. 4, 1947, and Mrs. Sullivan predeceased him in 1998.
Mr. Sullivan worked as a longshoreman and supervisor on the New York City Piers for the U.S. Lines until 1969. He then worked at Sharlach*s Hardware Store in Bedford Village, N.Y., retiring in 1984. He was a member and Post Commander of the Catholic War Veterans of St. Mary’s Parish in Dumont, N.J. Mr. Sullivan has resided in Franklin County since 2003, living for two years at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford. He also was a resident at Haven Health and Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans.
William is survived by his two children and their spouses: Eileen “Lynn” Dickinson and her husband, Richard Dickinson, DDS of St. Albans, and Mark Sullivan and his wife, Nina of Bryn Mawr, Pa.; five grandchildren: Lindsey Dickinson, Esq., Grace Dickinson Branon, DMD and her husband, Dan Branon II of Fairfield, Richard Dickinson Jr. of South Boston, Mass., Natalie and Elizabeth Sullivan, both of Bryn Mawr, Pa. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Ellen; and a brother, John Sullivan.
The family would like to thank everyone at Our Lady of the Meadows, Haven Health and Franklin County Rehab Center who took such good care of William while he resided here. They would especially like to thank Dr. Ned Shulman for his care, assistance and understanding while William lived here in Vermont.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s in St. Albans. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Rye, N.Y., at a later date. Memorials may be made to Northwestern Medical Center, P.O. Box 1370, St. Albans, Vt. 05478 in lieu of flowers.

ALLEN A. BROUILLETTE
ST. ALBANS / PICKENS, S.C. - Allen A. Brouillette, age 52, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Pickens following a heart attack. He was born in St. Albans, Sept. 1, 1953, son of Arthur A. Brouillette and Eleanor Pelkey Brouillette.

He graduated from BFA class of 1972. Allen served in the U. S. Army for over nine years, serving two tours in Germany. He was a sheet metal construction worker. One of his greatest loves was motorcycle riding all over the United States. His ambition was to open his own motorcycle shop, in the near future.

He is survived by his mother, Eleanor (Pelkey Brouillette) Warner; his father, Arthur A. “BO” and his wife, Kathryn Brouillette all of St. Albans; two sons and their wives: Matt and Melody, and Mark and Tammy; two grandsons: Roberto and Evan, all of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three sisters: Judy Goulette of Swanton, Nancy and her husband, Chuck Brooks of Underhill, Debbie and her husband, Scott Babbie of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Arthur and Lucy Brouillette, Ralph and Eunice Pelkey; brother, David Nolan; and brother-in-law Douglas Goulette; and step-father, Branch Warner.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel, 86 South Main St., St. Albans. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the patient care fund at the Veterans Hospital in care of Director “21", V. A. Central Office, White River Jct., Vt. 05001; or the American Liver Foundation, 88 Winchester St., Newton, Mass. 02461.

Interment will be at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.

BRUCE S. COYLE
FAIRFAX - Bruce S. Coyle, 65, a resident of this area since 1995, passed away at his home early Thursday, April 6, 2006, following a brief illness. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 24, 1941, the son of the late John and Mary (Liddy) Coyle. On July 6, 1963, in Brooklyn he married the former Catherine Lehan, who survives him.

Mr. Coyle was employed for many years as an agent for the Knights of Columbus Life Insurance Company. For the past 10 years, Bruce and his wife, Cathy have operated the Mountain View Animal Inn in Fairfax. He was a member of Baron DeKalb Council 1073, Knights of Columbus in Sheepshead Bay, N.Y.

Besides his wife of 42 years, Catherine of Fairfax, he is survived by two sons: Christopher Coyle and his wife, Brenda of Highland Mills, N.Y., and Scott Coyle of St. Albans; a daughter, Patricia Crowley and her husband, Tim of Franklin, Mass.; a sister, Noreen Flanagan of Schoharie, N.Y.; five grandchildren: Shannon and John Coyle, and Jennifer, Lauren and Christine Crowley; also several nieces and nephews.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 10, 2006, at 1 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will be in the family lot at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials in his name may be sent to Franklin County Home Health Hospice Program, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

JANICE McKENZIE SMITH
PEARLAND, TEXAS - Janice McKenzie Smith, 50, a resident of Pearland, passed away Friday, March 3, 2006. She was born June 15, 1955, in Chorley, England to David and Jeannette (Mackay) McKenzie.

Janice was a legal administrative assistant with Baker Botts, LLP. She is survived by a loving family: her beloved husband, Alex; three children: Eddie, Meghan and Jessica; two step-sons: Jeremy and Dustin Smith; father, David McKenzie; sister, Linda Sessa; two grandsons: Joshua and Aiden; three nieces; mother-in-law, Doris Smith from St. Albans, Vt.; and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Janice’s life was held on Wednesday, March 8, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland.

For those desiring, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

JAMES ALFRED BROWN
SHELBURNE / FAIRFAX - James Alfred Brown, 78 of Fairfax, passed away Tuesday evening, April 4, 2006, at The Arbors in Shelburne surrounded by family. He was born in Montreal, Quebec on Feb. 3, 1928, the son of the late Alfred and Ada (Johnson) Brown.

On April 10, 1959, he married Evelyn K. (Read) Blair in Burlington Vt. She predeceased him on June 13, 1991.

Jim started his career as a Tool and Die maker in Montreal and later joined IBM in Essex Junction, retiring as an engineer after 25 years of service to the company.

He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his garden and taking care of his wood lot.

Jim is survived by four sons and a daughter, and their families: John and Linda Brown and children, Daniel and Kaytee and her husband, Dennis Petross, all of Oregon, Jim and Lorraine Brown and their family, Heather, Lee, Eric and his partner, Amy Buettner, all of Bozeman, Montana, and Andre` and his partner Nicole Lewey of Bennett, Colorado, Neal and Dawn Brown and their children, Andrew and Kelly of Fairfax, and Michael Brown and his partner, Barbara Wallace of Cambridge, Lynn Savage and her husband, Brian of Swanton and their family, Sean and his friend Julia Naiman, Geoffrey, and Victoria. Jim will miss seeing his two young great-grandchildren, Emily and Sean Michael, grow up.

He leaves also his brother, Leonard Brown and his wife, Beverly of South Burlington; his sister, Norma of Florida; and his nieces, Joanne and Mary Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Irene.

At the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours and funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family with interment following in the Spafford Cemetery in Fairfax.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfax Fire Department or the Fairfax Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 428, Fairfax, Vt. 05454.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

NORMAN ASHLEY BISHOP, SR.
Funeral services for Norman Ashley Bishop Sr., who passed away on March 30, 2006, were held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Leonidas B. Laroche concelebrating a Liturgy of Christian Burial with the Reverend Roland Rivard.

The Funeral Pall was placed on Norm’s casket by Norman Bishop Jr., Chris Bishop. The crucifix was then placed upon the casket by Kathy Lindsay. The Scriptures were proclaimed by Norm’s daughter-in-law, Eva Bishop; and his son-in-law, Jack Lindsay. Homilist was the Reverend Mr. Jack Rixon, Deacon of St. Mary’s Parish. Ministers of the altar were John Manahan and Robert LeClair.

The Eucharistic Gifts were presented at the altar by Norm’s grandchildren: Alexis, JoAnna, William and Caitlyn Bishop and Lauren Dazey. Music was provided by organist and vocalist, Claire Chevalier Hungerford. Words of Remembrance were shared by his son, Norman Jr.

In attendance and forming a Guard of Honor were members from Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars and also Vermont Adjutant General Michael Dubie and several members of the Vermont Army National Guard from Camp Johnson.

There was also representation from the Chittenden Corporation, University of Vermont, the Vermont State Guard, Cross Consulting Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, Hardack, Inc., Specialty Coatings, Thomas Janitorial, Bessette Property Services, Wiemann-Lamphere Architects, Farrington Construction, Montcalm Real Estate, and many Upper Welden Street neighbors and other friends..

Honorary casket bearers were: Herbert Mitchell, Michael Cassidy, Jim Pembroke and André Rouleau.

Active casket bearers were: Michael John Bishop, Shane Girard, Michael Spinelli, Andrew J. Woelfel-Bishop, John Emerson and Sebring Megill.

The American flag from the World War II veteran’s casket was presented to Norm’s daughter, Kathy Lindsay, by Honora “Bud” Bechard representing the veteran’s organizations.

A luncheon followed in St. Mary’s Parish Hall hosted by the Christian Service Committee of St. Mary’s. Prayers of Committal and interment will be later this spring in the family lot in the Berlin Corners Cemetery.

Father Laroche held a Vigil for the Deceased on Monday evening during visitation.

Assisting Norman’s family was the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

PHILLIPS BROOKS HAYDEN
GEORGIA - Funeral services for Phillip Brooks Hayden who passed away on March 31, 2006, were held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Georgia United Methodist Church with the Reverend Samuel S. Newton officiating. Organist was Lee Carson. Special music was provided by Gary Bates singing “Wrap Your Arms Around Me Lord” and by Mary Waite singing “Lighthouse.”

A letter to his grandfather was written and read by Nick Hayden. Words of remembrance were offered by Phil’s son Brian; his daughter-in-law, Lisa; his brother-in-law, Ken Grenier; and Nancy Matthews.

A Guard of Honor was formed by members of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Casket bearers were Phil’s brother, Nate Hayden; his brothers-in-law, Gary Bates, Ken Grenier, Burt Remillard, and Paul Waite; and a close friend, Torrey Ballard.

Following committal prayers by Pastor Newton, the American flag honoring the U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, was presented to his wife, Joyce, by Curtis Brown representing the veteran’s organizations.

On Tuesday evening, Pastor Newton held a prayer service for Phil’s family and friends at the Heald Funeral Home in St. Albans.
