JAMES L. BARTLETT
YULEE, Fla. / ST. ALBANS, Vt. - Memorial services have been scheduled for James (Jim) Lincoln Bartlett who died on Feb. 14, 2006, in Yulee, Fla.

Jim was born June 22, 1947, in Lakewood, Ohio, the son of the late Allan J. Bartlett Jr. and Elizabeth A. (Kliensmith) Bartlett, formerly of Stowe, Vt.

He was a longtime resident of St Albans before moving to Florida in recent years. He was a graduate of Peacham Academy in Peacham, Vt. and went on to attend Champlain College in Burlington. Jim was a proud member of the Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973. He was employed for 20 years with the Central Vermont Railways in St Albans. Jim was an avid historian, military gaming enthusiast, photographer, and cribbage player.

Jim is survived by his wife Donna Karissa (Beckham) Bartlett of Yulee, Fla.; his daughter, Amy (Bartlett) Cowan and her husband, Craig of St. Albans, Vt.; as well as her mother, Linda Baker Bartlett of St Albans. Jim is also survived by his second wife, Mary (Hoague Reynolds) Bartlett and her children, Alan Hoague, Chadwick Reynolds, and Nicole Reynolds of St. Albans. Surviving family members include his two brothers, William and Susan (Walker) Bartlett of Hyde Park, Vt. and David Bartlett of Marietta, Ga.; sister, Susan and her husband, Jere Johnston of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Gadue of Stowe, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces.

Memorial services will take place on the evening of June 27, 2006, at 7 p.m. at Brady and Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St Albans. Burial services will take place the following day, June 28, at 1 p.m. in the Vermont Veteran Cemetery in Randolph, Vt.

Remembrance contributions may be made in Jim's honor to The St. Albans Historical Society Museum, P.O. Box 722, St Albans, Vt. 05478. An online condolence book has been established for Jim's family at the Brady & Levesque Web site: www.bnlfh.com.

COL. HARRY SAMUEL SPAULDING JR., M.D. 'SAM'
Colonel Harry Samuel Spaulding Jr., M.D., 75, of Aurora, Colo., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, died on June 18, 2006. Col. Spaulding died tragically in a hiking accident on McKelligon Canyon near an area called Sugarloaf in El Paso, Texas.

Sam was born on Dec. 12, 1930, in Waterbury, Vt. to Jessamine and Harry Spaulding Sr. He grew up in Waterbury and graduated from Waterbury High School in 1948 and continued his education to receive a B.S. from the Albany College of Pharmacy in 1953, a Masters Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Duquesne University College of Pharmacy in 1955. He married Yolande Tourangeau of Montreal, P.Q. on July 6, 1957. He received a M.D. degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1959.

Col. Spaulding served proudly and with honor in the U.S. Army from 1960-1967 and again from 1971-1993. He had a distinguished and enjoyable career with the Army where he worked as a Pediatrician and also as an Allergist. Sam cherished many long lasting friendships throughout his career. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. His hunting buddies were always very special to him and he always looked forward to their next trip. He was a 40-year member of the Masonic Lodge. 'Sam, as many knew, divulged an aura of charisma in his personality. Whether he was at a military exercise or just with family or friends, he always exemplified being a great American. His wealth of friends stretched from Waterbury, Vt. to Denver, Colo., to Germany and to many other parts of our world. He left us trying to accomplish something he loved doing-giving his devoted service to our great country. May you rest in peace 'Sam, ' we will miss all your wonderful traits and friendship immensely.

Col. Spaulding is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Yolande; his sons, Marc and wife Sharon, Daniel, Harry III, and Jonathan and wife, Teresa; daughter, Michelle and husband, Heath; his grandchildren, Harry IV, Savannah, Emily, Meghan, Maddison, Samuel Wyatt, and Elodia; his brothers, Dexter and his wife, Judy, and their children, Troy and his wife, Louise, Natalie and her husband, Kevin, Bruce and his wife, Cheryl and their children, Loren and wife, Fran, Stacy and husband, Brian and Jason. Also many other family members and dear friends. He is also survived by a special uncle, Richard Hertzel of East Greenbush, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made to either 'Raise the Roof Fund' at The Nativity Church, 65 Canada St., Swanton, Vt.; or to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 57 South Main St., Waterbury, Vt.

Funeral services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo., on June 26, 2006, at 11 a.m., staging area B. There will be a Memorial Service to be held at a later date in Waterbury, Vt.

MARY KATHERINE (BROWN) TALLMAN
BELVIDERE - Mary Katherine (Brown) Tallman, age 87, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Copley Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mary was one of nine children and was born on Jan. 11, 1919, in Belvidere, Vt., daughter of the late Ashton and Sylvia (Hutchins) Brown of Belvidere.

She married Kenneth Willis Tallman on June 20, 1936, in Cambridge, Vt. Kenneth predeceased her on July 1, 1987. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign wars of The United States, St. Albans Chapter Post 758. Mary held different town offices over the years. Her last project was to help get the United Christian Society, Inc. in Belvidere Junction reopened for services. Mary will be greatly missed by all those who had the true pleasure to know and love her.

She is survived by three sons, Hugh and his wife, Myrna of Belvidere, Cecil and his wife, Jill of California. Gene and his wife, Arlene of Belvidere.; one brother, Curtis Brown and his wife, Lucille of St. Albans; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Louella Bessette, Betty Ashline, Sue Brown; her brothers, Carrol, Wilbur, Amsden, and Larry.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A. W. Rich Funeral Home l Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main St., Fairfax. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the United Christian Society, Inc., 6653 VT Route 109, Belvidere Jct., Vt. at 12:30 p.m. with Roland Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Belvidere Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the United Christian Society, Inc., Belvidere Jct., 6653 VT Rte 109 Belvidere Jct., Vt., 05442; or to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network, P.O. Box 38, Lake Elmore, Vt. 05657.

SHEILA ANN BOUCHARD
ST. ALBANS - Funeral services for Sheila Ann Bouchard, who passed away on June 15, 2006, were held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with Rabbi David Steinberg of Ohavi Zedek Synagogue conducting the Jewish Rite of Burial. One of Sheila's best friends, Marie Bessette, spoke of the good times and memories from 'camping with the girls' at Lake Carmi.

In attendance were representatives of Franklin County Home Health Agency, the Red Hat Society, Vermont Service Center of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (Homeland Security), S. R. Smith Real Estate, Husky Corporation of Milton, former employees of the Central Vermont Railway, and Grice Brook Association.

Casket bearers were Steven Shortt, Steven West, Bob Marquette, Gil St. Amand, John Crepeau, and Jim Shepard.

Interment followed in the family lot at Greenwood Cemetery with Rabbi Steinberg offering the readings of committal and leading the attendees in the Jewish customs of burial. Following this a reception was held for family and friends at the Hawk's Nest on Route 104.

The Heald Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

LEONARD STILLMAN TABOR, JR.
FAIRFAX - Graveside funeral and committal services for Leonard Stillman Tabor Jr., who passed away on April 27, 2006, were held on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in the family lot at Fairfax Plains Cemetery with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Words of remembrance were spoken by several friends.

Full military honors were accorded the Korean Conflict Army veteran by the Military Funeral Honors Detail from Joint Forces Headquarters at Camp Johnson. Master Sergeant Ed Daudelin was the NCOIC. The firing detail consisted of SFC Patricia Lavery, SSGT Marty Branch, PFC Kyle Pelletier, and PFC Tim Graves. Bugler was SPC Darrel McClay. The American flag honoring Leonard's military service was presented to his son, Leonard III, by Master Sergeant Daudelin.

The Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans assisted the family with arrangements.

MARIE C. LUMBRA
BERKSHIRE / ST. ALBANS - Marie C. Lumbra, 73, a resident of this area for most of her lifetime, passed away peacefully at Northwestern Medical Center on Monday, June 19, 2006. Her loving family was at her side. She was born in Swanton, May 14, 1933, the daughter of the late Arthur and Antonia (Moreau) Chevalier.

Marie was employed for nearly 30 years for Franklin/Grand Isle Mental Health Agency as a caseworker and in other capacities. She retired in 1998. She lived in Baltimore for 14 years in her early adult life and Franklin County since. She was a graduate of St. Anne's Academy in Swanton. She was also married to Leon R. Tessier, the father of her children, in 1951. In 1984 she married Arnold Centabar who died in 1994. On May 5, 1995, she married Maurice S. Lumbra at the Georgia Campground. He survives her.

Marie was one of the first women to become a member of the Richford Lions Club. She enjoyed reading, her cats, and camping. She was an extreme enthusiast of the QVC Home Shopping Channel. Her many friends will especially remember her for her sense of humor.

In addition to her husband, Maurice, she is survived by four sons, Robert Tessier and his wife, Liz of Elkhart, Ind., Jimmy Tessier and his wife, Lisa of Easton, Md., Paul Tessier of Berkshire, Vt., and Michael Tessier and his wife, Shawn of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; five daughters, Susan and Steve Harbin of Westminster, Md., Jean Ross of Chantilly, Va., Patty and Rene Fortin of Swanton, Kathy and Steve Shepard of Georgia, Vt. and Dianne and Mike Begnoche of Swanton; three brothers, Alain and Nicky Chevalier of San Antonio, Texas, Maurice 'Sammy' Chevalier of Ingram, Texas, and John 'Butch' Chevalier of Brookline, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Alice Chevalier of New York; 28 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves five stepsons and their spouses, Gary and Judy Centabar of Swanton, Maurice T. and Gina Lumbra of St. Albans, John Lumbra and Karl Klein of Waitsfield, Vt., William and Joannie Lumbra of Lemore, Calif., and Shaun and Devin Lumbra of Richford. She was predeceased by her parents; her second husband, Arnold; a brother, Laurent Chevalier; and infant sister, Lucille; a grandson, Joseph Tessier; and a granddaughter, Michelle Fortin.

In accordance with Marie's wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of her family. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice.

KIARA ROSE McRAE
ST. ALBANS - Kiara Rose McRae, infant daughter of Samuel A. and Emily (Morrie) McRae, passed away early Monday, June 19, 2006, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care. She was born in Burlington on March 13, 2006, with her fraternal brother, Logan and twin sister, Annalisa.

Survivors include her parents, Sam and Emily of St. Albans; her two brothers, Sam II, Logan; sister, Annalisa; her paternal grandparents, Gordon and Marie McRae of St. Albans; her maternal grandparents, Linda Morrie of St. Albans and John Morrie and his wife, Eddie of St. Albans; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of Kiara's family with Pastor Gary Cooper, Associate Pastor of Church of the Rock, officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Kiara's family asks that memorial's be made in her name to the Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care, 111 Colchester Ave., Burlington, Vt. 05401.

Assisting Kiara's family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

EDWARD 'EDDIE' ARMAND HEBERT
ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO - A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Grace Community Church for Edward 'Eddie' Armand Hebert, 73, of Roswell, who passed away on June 20, 2006, at his residence. Pastor Rick Hale will officiate. Upon the request of Mr. Hebert, his body will be donated to the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

Edward was born on Oct. 23, 1932, in St. Albans, Vt. to Armand 'Pete' and Gertrude Allard Hebert. They both preceded him in death.

On March 16, 1970, Edward married Mary Jo Smith Morrison. She also preceded him in death on June 5, 2006; as well as a stepdaughter, Margaret Autry, and stepson Charles Morrison. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and later became a project engineer for the New Mexico State Highway Department. He was a member of the Roswell Elks Lodge, and the Roswell Gun Club. He loved sports and was a Boston Red Sox Fan. He was very involved in youth baseball as a coach and umpire.

His survivors include his sons, Tom Hebert and his wife, Betty of Portales, N.M., Pete Hebert and his wife, Debra of Roswell, and Paul Hebert and his wife, Melodie also of Roswell; his daughters, Trudy Hebert of Roswell, Lisa Woods and her husband, Ken of Albuquerque; and step-daughter, Sherri Corum of El Paso, Texas; brother, Harold 'Butch' Hebert and his wife, Sally of St. Albans, Vt.; sisters, Constance 'Connie' Fielding and her husband, Bob of Vermont, Sylvia Sweet and her companion, Billie of Oregon, and Denise Phenix and her husband, Robert 'Bob' of the Georgia/Milton area. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Destiny Hebert, Brandon Hebert, Christy Soto, Theresa Montoya and her husband, Frederick, Daniel Soto III, Marissa Soto, Serenity Gomez and her husband, Jason, Ryan Hebert and his wife, Kathy, Nicole Woods, Andy Joe Winn and his wife, Katie, Cory Winn and his fiancÚe, Katie, and Terra and Cassie Autry, and Charles Corum, and Amy and David Hagan; eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and first cousins in the St. Albans area.

Memorial contributions can be made to Roswell Hospice at 1107 S. Main Roswell, New Mexico 88203.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory.

FREDERICK C. THOMAS, JR.
ST. ALBANS - Frederick C. Thomas Jr., 87, a longtime area resident, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Franklin County Rehab Center following a brief illness. He was born in Burlington, Vt., on Aug. 25, 1918, the son of the late Frederick C. Thomas, Sr. and Delia R. (Bacon) Thomas. On Feb. 4, 1940, in Bethel, Vt., he married the former Jean Forrest, who predeceased him on April 26, 2006.

Fred served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge he operated Thomas' Texaco from 1948 to 1964. He than was salesman for the Homer W. Hungerford Auto Dealership in St. Albans. Fred was a member of the First Congregational Church, Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion, Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ethan Allen Lodge 72, F & AM of Essex Junction.

Survivors include three sons, Frederick C. Thomas III and his wife, Jeanne of Antioch, Ill., David F. Thomas and his wife, Marie of Hyde Park and Richard D. Thomas and his wife, Beth of St. Albans; seven grandchildren, Charles Thomas, Victoria Richardson, Marc Thomas, Gregory Thomas, Aaron Thomas, Jennifer Biser and Angela Cassidy; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Thomas of Massachusetts. In addition to his parents, and wife, Jean, he was predeceased by a great-grandson, Ethan E. Biser on Aug. 16, 2005; a daughter-in-law, Sandra
Thomas in 1998; a brother, Horace D. Thomas; and a sister, Grace McDonald.

Graveside services for Jean and Fred will be held later this summer. There will be no public visitation. Interment will be in the Thomas family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Franklin County Rehab Center, 110 Fairfax Road, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

DAVID R. PRIM
WEST SHORE ROAD, ALBURGH - David R. Prim, 59, a resident of San Francisco, Calif. for many years and for the past three years of the Alburgh community, passed away at his home on West Shore Road late Monday afternoon, June 12, 2006, with family at his side. David enjoyed the magnificent views, sunsets and beautiful Lake Champlain.

Born in Burlington on July 9, 1946, he was the son of the late Ernest and Helen (Powell) Prim. David graduated from Burlington High School and achieved an accounting degree from a Community College in California. He was owner/operator and a residential General Contractor for many years, prior to moving back to Vermont.

In addition to his partner, Evan Anderson of 30 years of Alburgh, David leaves three brothers, Steve Prim and his wife, Bonnie of St. Albans, Ernest Prim and his wife, Carlene of Tennessee, Larry Prim of South Burlington; and four sisters, Rebecca & Roger Lapointe of Burlington, Judith Franco of North Carolina, Katie Prim of Winooski and Patricia Davis of Essex; as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends.

David was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Lorie McEntee; and a brother, Peter Prim.

A Memorial Service will be held from the United Methodist Church in Isle La Motte Village at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2006, with the Reverend Marcheta Townsend officiating. At the family's request there will be no public calling hours and interment will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, 05488.

KEVIN M. JERRY
ST. ALBANS - Funeral services were held for Kevin M. Jerry, Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Church of the Rock, with Pastor Roland Ludlam officiating. Interment followed the service in the Jerry/Snaith family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The St. Albans Town Fire Department Color Guard formed an honor guard for the services. Urn Carriage bearers were David Bushey, Charlie Taylor, Darren Totten, and Mike Lussier. Honorary Bearers were Timothy Jerry, Raymond Rogers III, Rick Richards and Paul Greenwood.

Omitted from the obituary were his aunts and uncles, Robin Pepin and her husband Michael.

JESSIE DEWEY 'JAY' BUCKLEY
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Jessie Dewey 'Jay' Buckley passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, in the company of her family. Born Jessie Lillian Utley in North Adams, Mass. on Feb. 26, 1916, to Kathryn (Martin) Gray. She was adopted by Carl Vaetsch four years later when Carl and Kate married. Her Scottish heritage as a Dewey, a Mayflower descendent, and great-granddaughter of the Honorable Chief Justice James Loren and Jessie Dewey Martin were defining parts of her character.

She attended Brattleboro schools, Kathryn Gibbs in Boston and later graduated from Albany Business College in 1954. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Jay enjoyed being a member of the Country Clubs in Brattleboro and St. Albans as well as accomplished horsewoman. She began work at Union Carbide, became office manager for
Stephens Associates in Albany, eventually owning a Part-Time franchise in Knoxville. Known for her grace, wit, intellect and great clothes sense, she is deeply missed.

Children and their families include a son, Martin G. Buckley (deceased), his daughters, Sabrina Buckley and her sons, Daniel and Matthew Frauenfelter, Diane Buckley (deceased), and Denise with Nicole and Kathryn Connor with Leeanne Connor; a daughter, Loren Jay Buckley, her children, Linda Jeanne Martenet-Williams and her husband, Kurt, Robert Adams and his fiancÚe, Christina Lewis, Heather Adams and her husband, Craig Domres, Anna Marie, Stephanie and John Williams; a son, Ronald DeVerres Martenet III and his daughter, Rachel Marie and son, James Lilley Martenet and his wife, Mary; two sisters, Margaret Barry and Lois Miller, both of Brattleboro and their children who were dear to her, Dewey Barry and his wife, Lynda, Karl Barry and his wife, Susan, Susan Barry Kadie Ponce, Emily Durrwachter and Brian Miller and their families. Lifelong friends include Lucille Holden and Ralph Eames as well as Shirley Montgomery of Brattleboro, the Bostwick, Sylvester, Cushing and Doubleday families, Fran Flanders, Libby Whiting, Morton Dowling, and a special rapport with Dusty Rhodes of St. Albans, Lady and Ron Rucinski of Albany, companions in Knoxville and great friends include, Margarite Wilch, the Burtis', the Loys, Joe George, the Coxs, and most especially Jean and Joe Hamilton. Jean cared for Mom extra-ordinarily well and with great attention, which Mom appreciated deeply as all of our family does.

Jessie will be interred in Morningside Cemetery in Brattleboro, at the Martin family site on Aug. 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jean Jersey officiating, accompanied by bagpiper, James MacKenzie. A light lunch at the family camp will be held after the service.
