MARY A. (KING) SKAPSKI
MILTON - Mary A. (King) Skapski, 82, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 21, 2006, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

Mary was born on Oct. 20, 1923, in Fremont, NE, the daughter of Clarence and Eleanor (Bader) King.

She graduated from Fremont High School in 1940, and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley in 1946, having taken over a year off from her studies to work in a chemical factory during the war. In 1947, she married Dr. Adam Skapski. She received her Masters in Education from UVM in 1956.

Mrs. Skapski taught science at Milton High School from 1956 to 1959. From 1960 to 1970 she lived in Lagos, Nigeria, teaching at Holy Child College and helping to complete her husband's work in education following his death in 1968. She lived in Brownsville, Texas from 1970 to 1985, teaching at Villa Maria High School and the Maril School.

In 1985, she returned to her home in Milton, Vt., where she lived the rest of her life. She taught at Pine Ridge School in Williston from 1986 to 1992, and gave piano lessons until her final illness. Mary was a faithful member and organist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Milton until it's closing. She joined St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Colchester in 1999 where she sang in the choir and occasionally played the organ.

Mrs. Skapski volunteered at the Milton Family Community Center and was an active member of the Milton Women's Club, the Milton Historical Society, the Vermont Retired Teachers Association, the Vermont Oratorio Society, and Grandparents as Parents.

She was predeceased by her husband, Adam Skapski; brother, Richard King; and sister, Helen Marolf. She is survived by a daughter, Ellen Sovkoplas and her husband, Paul of Brownville, Texas; five grandchildren, Paul Adam of Isle La Motte, Vt., Gregory Sovkoplas of Tucson, Ariz., Ellen Sovkopas of Hammond, La., Adam Sovkoplas of Lexington, Ky., Roman Karl Sovkoplas of Brownsville, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Kirsten Patch of Isle La Motte, Vt.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on Prim Road in Colchester at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, followed by burial in the Milton Village Cemetery.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Andrew's Music Program, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1063 Prim Road, P.O. Box 78, Colchester, Vt. 05446; or to the Covenant House, 346 West 17th St., NY, NY 10011- 5002; or to Angel Tree Ministries, P.O. Box 1550, Merrifield, Va. 2116-1550.

Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton, Vt.

KRYSTAL ELIZA REYNOLDS
SWANTON - Krystal Eliza Reynolds, age 21 years of Upper Ferris Street, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Aug. 22, 2006, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington with her loving family and friends surrounding her after a 21-year battle with Cystic Fibrosis.

Born in Burlington on June 20, 1985, she was the daughter of Janet L. (Pelkey) Reynolds Garrison and the late Ralph Reynolds Sr.

Krystal attended Mary S. Babcock and Missisquoi Valley Union High Schools, was a member of the Abenaki Nation of Vermont as well as the Abenaki Dance Youth Group. She enjoyed arts and crafts, especially bead working, fishing with her Dad, music, and for many years working with the children on Baird 5 at Fletcher Allen. She will always be loved and cherished by everyone that she embraced.

Krystal leaves her mother, Janet Garrison; step-father, Raymond Garrison Jr.; and her son, Joey Daniel Partlow, all of Swanton; a sister, Arlene Gagne and husband, Ernie of Highgate Center; three brothers, Lynward Reynolds of Swanton, Michael Messier of Highgate Falls and Ralph Messier of Oklahoma; a step-grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Strong of Highgate Falls; and many aunts, uncles and cousins on the Reynolds, Pelkey and Garrison side. She also leaves a very special friend, Laura Young, age 41 who is also struggling with Cystic Fibrosis; and her adopted sister, Carmen 'PiPi Toi' Santor.

She was predeceased by her father, Ralph Reynolds Sr. in 1998; her sister, Ashlee Ellen Reynolds on Jan. 18, 2005; a dear cousin, Gina (Hakey) Pilbin of Swanton in 1992; an uncle, Roland Sherman of East Highgate in 1989; an aunt, Mary (Pelkey) LaFleur of Highgate Falls on Feb. 7, 2006; and her maternal grandparents, Foster and Thelma Pelkey of Highgate Falls.

'For my dearest daughter Krystal, Mom had 21 years of the joy and happiness you brought to me. I know that you are in the arms of Your Dad and with your sister Ashlee with no more pain, suffering or treatments'. 'You are Free' Until we meet in heaven. 'We love you! Mom and Raymond

From your aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and Raymond: 'You are gone but not forgotten, ' our dearest Krystal.

Over the past 21 years Krystal spent many months as a patient in Fletcher Allen Health Care. Her family wishes to acknowledge with sincerest gratitude the staff of Baird 4 and 5, and especially Doctors Tom Lahiri and Donald Swartz and Jackie Swartz R.N.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at 2 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Doctor Jeff Benay, Director of Indian Education for the Franklin County Public School District, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pelkey / Reynolds lot in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery, Highgate Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Gifts in Krystal's memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of New England, (to find and cure), 114 Perimeter Road, Unit G&H, Nashua, N.H. 03603.

Krystal's last request was that we celebrate her life. Following The Prayers of a Committal a celebration of her life will continue at the Pelkey homestead, 414 Highgate Road in Highgate Falls. Any donations of food may be left there prior to the services.

MARIE ROSE BRUNET
BURLINGTON - Marie Rose Brunet, 61, died at 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Marie was born in Burlington on Oct. 2, 1944, the daughter of Oliver and Rose (LaBelle) Cross.

On Aug. 1, 1966, she married Gerard Brunet, who predeceased her May 15, 2002.

Marie always enjoyed being outdoors. She enjoyed pets, especially cats, and coloring. She was loved by her family and friends, including her most recent friends from the Nursing Home and from her apartment building before that. She and her husband, Gerard moved to Holyoke, Mass. and lived in Belchertown for over 35 years before moving back to Vermont in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Manning and her husband, Neil of Burlington; by her grandchildren, Teilya Brunet, John Skorupski Jr., Joleen Brunet Barrows; by her mother, Rose Cross of Milton; her sisters, Josephine Pelletier of Milton, Ila Barrows of Milton, Pauline Gordon and her husband, Leland of Jeffersonville; and her brother, Arlon Cross and his wife, Caroline of Milton; her sisters-in-law, Simone Laramee of Belchertown, Mass., Fern Kelly and her husband, Bill of Holyoke, Mass., Lorette Brunet of Florida and Jennette Mailoux of Ferrisburg, Vt.; and also by her cousin, Charlene Bero of St. Albans. Marie was also predeceased by her father, Oliver Cross in 2003; and her sister, Phyllis in 1939.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milton.

Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Chittenden County, 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, 05403; or to the American Lung Association, 30 Farrell St., South Burlington, Vt. 05403.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with prayers being offered at 3:45 p.m. by Father Feltz in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

LUCILLE SAMSON
ST. ALBANS - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Lucille Samson, Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church with Father Leonidas Laroche, Pastor of St. Patrick's in Fairfield and St. Anthony-St. George Parishes in East Fairfield as the celebrant. Assisting Father Laroche at the altar were Maynard Gosselin and Russell Porwitzky. Claire Hungerford was the organist and soloist. Readings from scripture were read by Sister Cecile LeBeau.

Words of remembrance were offered by her grandson-in-law, Steve Mount. Casket bearers were grandsons, Ray Ashline, Rick Ashline, Daniel Samson, Nick Samson, Ben Saveall and Andrew Saveall. An honor guard was present from the UVM Police Services.

Monday afternoon, Father Maurice Roy, Pastor of Holy Angels, conducted the Christian Wake Service, and Monday evening, Father Laroche conducted the Funeral Vigil Service with the family in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.

CARLTON F. MURPHY
ST. ALBANS - A Graveside Funeral Service was held for Mr. Carlton F. Murphy, Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at 3:30 p.m. in the Murphy family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery with the Reverend Mr. Jack Rixon officiating.

Six red roses were presented by the Francis Lewis family in memory of each child of the Murphy family. The American flag was presented to his niece, Wanda Guyette by Mr. Edward Royea representing the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. An honor guard was present from the American Legion Post 1 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 758. Arrangements were entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.

EDITH H. WRIGHT
HIGHGATE CENTER / SWANTON - Mrs. Edith H. Wright, age 92 years, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, Aug. 22, 2006, at the home of her son Greg and his wife Jackie on New Street in Swanton Village. She has been a longtime resident of Lamkin Street in Highgate Center.

Born in Dayville, Conn. on Nov. 30, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hill. She received her education in Connecticut graduating from Norwich High School. On June 13, 1936, she was married to Oscar W. Wright, who predeceased her on June 10, 1987 after 51 years of marriage.

In addition to her personal responsibilities as a devoted homemaker and mother, Mrs. Wright will be remembered by many as a professional housekeeper for many families through out the Franklin County area. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 12 in Richford.

Mrs. Wright leaves two daughters, Lorraine Mercy and husband, Richard of Franklin and Joyce Cassidy and companion, Leonard Martin of West Swanton; two sons, James Wright and wife, Phyllis of Franklin and Greg Wright and wife, Jackie of Swanton; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Wright and companion, Stuarta Benjamin of St. Albans; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Lawrence Wright on Aug. 26, 1994.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at 10 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Herman Benjamin pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in St. Albans City will officiate. Interment will follow in the Wright family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Gifts in Mrs. Wright's memory may be made to the Highgate Volunteer Fire Department, Highgate Center 05459; Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P.O. Box 22, Swanton 05488; or to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans 05478.

CHARLES O. CONSTANTINE
Funeral services for Charles O. Constantine, who passed away on Aug. 18, 2006, were held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at 11 a.m. from the Heald Funeral Chapel with the Reverend William D. Simmons, Pastor of the First

Baptist Church of St. Albans officiating. Music was provided by organist A.

James Cota. Special music, 'The Rose, ' was by vocalist Andy LaRocque and 'How Great Thou Art' was by vocalist, Jamie Cota. 'In the Garden' was sung by the First Baptist Church Choir members, Ruth Andress, Joni Bohannon, Lorinda Bushey, Joyce Graves, Carol Hislop, Vicki Macke, Katie Reynolds and Marilyn Sink. 'Our Memories' were shared by Charles' granddaughter, Lisa Constantine.

In attendance was representation from PBM Nutritionals, St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery, WVNY & WFFF Television Stations, T D Banknorth, Lake Champlain Housing Authority, Franklin County Home Health Agency and Hospice, Northwestern Medical Center, former H.P. Hood, Inc. co-workers, Georgia Elementary School, and the First Baptist Church family of St. Albans.

Casket bearers were Mike Allard, Steve Allard, Eric Driscoll, Uwe Goehlert, Jerry Bolio, and Ron Bolio.

Enroute to the Georgia Plain Cemetery for Prayers of Committal by Pastor Simmons and interment in the family lot, Charles' funeral procession passed by his former home on the Polly Hubbard Road.

A luncheon reception followed in the Friendship Room of the First Baptist Church hosted by the church family.

Assisting Charles' family was the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

HOWARD K. 'MIKE' MOSS
ST. ALBANS - Mr. Howard K. "Mike" Moss, age 74, died Saturday evening, Aug. 19, 2006, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 20, 1931, in St. Albans, son of the late Jesse and Regina (St. Pierre) Moss.

Mike was a graduate of BFA. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He married Yvonne Rogers, June 25, 1955. He worked as a meat cutter for numerous stores to include the ABC Store and Bob's Meat Market. He later worked at the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and later became in charge of postal security of priority mail retiring in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1 and the MG Club.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; their three children, Bruce Moss and his wife, Morleen, Christopher Moss and his wife, Lisa of St. Albans, and Tammy Demar and her husband, Russell of Milton; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; two sons, Timmy Moss in 2003 and Gary Moss in 2005; two brothers, Lester and Pete; and two sisters, Vivian and Lorette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Moss family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

JOYCE COOK
ST. ALBANS - Joyce Cook, 52, a lifelong area resident passed away on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at her sister Patty's home at St. Albans Bay with her loving family at her side. She was born in Grand Isle, Vt. on July 21, 1954, the daughter of Gertrude (Laroche) Cook and the late John F. Cook Jr.

Joyce graduated in 1972 from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans.
She was a member of Church of the Rock, enjoyed karaoke, bowling, and horseshoes. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her mother, Gertrude Cook of St. Albans; her two children, Robbi Ann Britch and her companion, Ashley Wood of St. Albans and Josie Lyn Walbridge and her companion, Chad Hotchkiss of Georgia; her three sisters, Linda Trombley and her husband, Jim of Richmond, Patty Taft and her husband, Fred, of St. Albans Bay, and Charlotte Raymond and her husband, Larry of Enosburg; her brother, Michael Cook and his wife, Cindy of Swanton; her six grandchildren, Ashley Britch Robtoy, Kevin and Codi Morgan, Keegan Britch, Tanisha Salter and Chad Hotchkiss Jr.; six nieces and six nephews; and her dear friends, Brian Thayer, Kelley Demag and Karen Gagnon. Joyce was predeceased by her father, John F. Cook Jr. in 1984.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at 11 a.m. in Church of the Rock, Route 104, South in St. Albans. Interment will follow in the family lot at Holy Cross Cemetery. Joyce's family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main
St., St. Albans.
