E. MICHAEL BURNS
ENOSBURG / PROVINCETOWN, Mass. - E. Michael Burns, 48, a resident of Provincetown, Mass. and formerly of Enosburg, died on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at his home in Provincetown, Mass.

Michael was born on March 10, 1958, in St. Albans, the son of Donald and Connie (Barbour) Burns. He graduated from Enosburg High School in 1977 and went on to study at Champlain College in Burlington where he received a degree in computer programming.

Michael had traveled throughout the country and eventually settled in the Boston area. He spent his working career in hotel management including a time when he bought and successfully operated the Jay Village Inn in Jay, Vt. from 1998-2002. He later migrated back to the Boston area and settled in Provincetown, Mass. Michael achieved his greatest desire when he became a real estate agent, working at an office in Provincetown.

Michael was a man who loved life and who was loved by all.

Michael is survived by his parents, Donald and Connie (Barbour) Burns of Richford; two sisters and their husbands, Debbie and Hector Nieto of Chandler, Ariz. and Kelly and Mark Salisbury of Enosburg Falls; his nieces and nephews, Lynne Airoldi and her husband Josh, Jim Duffy and his wife Rebecca, Lea Burns and her friend Anthony, Seth Goodhue and Bailey Airoldi; his great nieces and nephews: Tyson, Sydney, Emily and Mykenzie; aunts, uncles, cousins; his special friend, Michael Costa of Boston, Mass.; and his beloved companion, Ben the Golden Retriever.

Michael was predeceased by a brother, Timmy Burns; a nephew, Nathan Burns; his maternal grandparents, Silvy and Hattie Barbour; and his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Eva Burns.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Richford First Baptist Church with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Richford. Friends are invited to call at the Church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

BARBARA L. (STANHOPE) LOVELETTE
RICHFORD - Barbara L. (Stanhope) Lovelette, 82, wife of Frederick Lovelette and a resident of Harlem Street in Richford, died peacefully at her home with her loving family on Saturday morning, Oct. 28, 2006.

Born in Berkshire on Jan. 24, 1924, Barbara was the daughter of Merritt A. and Dorcas (Hammond) Stanhope. She grew up on the family farm and was a 1942 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. Barbara's mother died at an early age and she helped raise her brother and sisters. Her marriage to Frederick N. Lovelette took place on Sept. 2, 1946.

Barbara was a longtime and active member of the Berkshire community. She was a member of the Berkshire Second Congregational Church and the Dorcas Society in Berkshire Center. The Lovelette's moved to Richford in the 1970s where Barbara was a member of American Legion Post 12 Auxiliary. She had worked as a seamstress in many Franklin County shops, working full time to the age of 78. Barbara was always concerned about others and took care of those in need whenever possible. She was a wonderful cook and especially enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Frederick N. Lovelette of Richford; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Brian ìPeteî Broe of Richford; two sons and their wives, Michael and Mary Lovelette of Brandon and Bruce and Pamela Lovelette of Berkshire; her grandchildren, Stephanie Lovelette, Jennifer Lovelette, Christopher Lovelette, Jessica Broe and Heather Bapp; a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Bryne; two sisters and their husbands, Pauline and John Deuso and Betty and Stanley Mossey; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by a brother, Spencer Stanhope; and a sister-in-law, Teresa Stanhope.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. at the Berkshire Center Second Congregational Church with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating. Interment will follow in the Berkshire Center Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home in Richford on Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

THOMAS G. SHEDRICK
ALBURGH / SWANTON - A Funeral Service was held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, pastor of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, Alburgh and St. Joseph's Mission, Isle La Motte officiated. Father was assisted by The Reverend Mr. Alan Vincelette, deacon assigned to the Lake Champlain Islands Roman Catholic Parishes. Music was provided by organist, Carol Pellerin accompanying soloist, Maurice Gauthier.

The New Testament Reading was proclaimed by Herbie Pearo and Special Words of Remembrance were shared by granddaughter, Chyanne Mitchell and very special friend, Herbie Pearo. A guard of honor was formed by the Alburgh Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60 Ladies Auxiliary.

Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Missisquoi Valley Rescue, Giordano Manor Community Care Home, Vermont Department of Economic Services, Alburgh Beverage Mart, Bousquet's Garage, Kay's Restaurant, Alburgh School District, Alburgh Town and Village Offices, Visiting Nurses Association and the Island In The Sun Senior Center.

Following the funeral service a luncheon and reception for family and friends was held in the Saint Amadeus Parish Center hosted by Maurice Gauthier and the St. Amadeus Parish Community.

LINDA JEAN ELLIOTT
Funeral services for Linda J. Elliott, who passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, were held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Dennis E. Hayward, Rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church officiating, assisted by The Reverend James D. Ballard, Deacon of the church. Verger was Colin Christie.

In attendance was representation from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Kicks Futbol Club, The Handy Group, Lamoille County Sheriffs Department, Pier 10, Franklin County Home Health Agency, 158th Services Flight, King's Daughters, Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, First Baptist Church of St. Albans and the Franklin County Sportsman's Club.

Casket bearers were Jim Bennett, Mark Baltzell, Erik Hadd, John MacCallum, Steve Hurhula and Scott Cookingham.

Following Prayers of Committal by Father Hayward, Deacon Ballard and Verger Christie, interment took place in the family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery. A luncheon followed in St. Luke's Parish House hosted by the Ladies of St. Luke's.

Assisting Linda's family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

HYLA GATES
BAKERSFIELD ñ Funeral services for Mrs. Hyla Gates of Bakersfield were held on Friday afternoon at the Bakersfield First Congregational Church. The Rev. Sue Marie Baskette, Pastor officiated. Claire Hungerford served as organist and led the congregation in singing ìAmazing Grace, î ìHow Great Thou Art, î ìThe Old Rugged Crossî and ìIn The Garden.î

Mrs. Gates' granddaughter Lesha, niece Calista and Pastor Lyle Willey shared their memories of Mrs. Gates with the congregation. A time of fellowship followed the service at the Bakersfield Historical Society Building.

Mrs. Gates will be interred at the convenience of her family in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bakersfield.

Serving as pallbearers were Mrs. Gates' great-grandsons Josh, Jared and Jordan Goss, Dakota Gagne, Matt Gates and Gregory McNeely.

A longtime resident of Bakersfield, Mrs. Gates died on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 24, in St. Albans at the age of 93. She was the widow of Earl O. Gates.

The Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls assisted the Gates Family with the services.

CECILE MEILLEUR POULIOT
CAMBRIDGE - Cecile M. Pouliot, 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, following a long battle with Alzheimer's at Genesis Elder Care Facility in Morrisville, Vt.

Born July 14, 1915 in Chrysler, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Euphrosine (Aube) Meilleur.

She married Elphege O. Pouliot, May 11, 1937, at St. Joseph Church in Burlington. He pre-deceased her March 14, 1983. They lived in a handful of towns, settling in Cambridge where they owned and operated a store in Jeffersonville, then a farm in Cambridge. Cecile was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Church. She was devoted to Jesus Christ, her Savior, and to her family. She was active in her church serving as a CCD teacher, in the Ladies Guild when it was active and felt blessed to serve as a Eucharistic Minister in her later years. She was also a hospice volunteer. When she first moved to Jeffersonville she did women's hair, setting and giving perms, as there were no beauticians in town. She loved to sew and keep house. After her love of Jesus, she devoted her time to family and loved to visit all the many relatives and her many friends.

She leaves six children and their spouses: Maurice & Mary Pouliot, Shirley & Gary Lipka, all of Cambridge, Priscilla & Jack McNall, Sherry & Duane LaBrie, all of Fairfield, Aline & Eric Sweet of Fletcher, and Janet & Peter Smithers of Randolph; two brothers & spouse, Victor & Rita Meilleur of Shelburne and Gene Meilleur of Grand Isle; two sisters & spouse, Bertha & Rudy Delaricheliere of Hyde Park and Theresa Bashaw of Essex Junction; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Aline Meilleur of Springfield, Mass., Jeanne Yandow of St. Albans, Corrine & Bernard Catella of Jericho, St. Emerentienne Pouliot, O.Carm., of Nebraska, Gabrielle Pouliot of Westford and Louella & Paul Desrochers of St. Albans; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by an infant son, Gerald; and a grandson, Michael Pouliot; five brothers: Leo, Ernest, Armand, Euclide and Jerry; and five sisters: Alice, Yvette, Dorina, Ida and Annette; and two half-sisters, Florence and Lucienne.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the A. W. Rich Funeral Home ñ Fairfax Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church in Cambridge with Reverend Dan Jordan officiating. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery in Underhill Center.

ANNA GLENDORA (EBERT) JACOBSON
Anna Glendora (Ebert) Jacobson, 88, passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2006, with her daughter Betty at her side. Glendora, as she had been known, resided with her daughter Betty and son-in-law Gary in St. Albans for the past two years.

Glendora is survived by a son, Howard F. Jacobson (Lynda) of Guilderland, N.Y.; two daughters, Elizabeth G. Bluto (Gary) of St. Albans and Marilyn J. Kaddaras (Michael) of Chandler, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Jane Jacobson (Robert) of Shelburne, Vt.

Ma, as she was known to her grandchildren (17), great-grandchildren (30) and many others, will be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving person who never complained and always put others needs before her own. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they were truly blessed for having had her in their lives.

Funeral services will be at the Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006. On Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at 3 p.m., there will be a Community Remembrance at Holy Angels Church in St. Albans.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful care given by Franklin County Home Health/Hospice people and Reverend Elizabeth Griffin of the St. Albans Bay Methodist Church for her weekly visits to Glendora.

RAMONA H. REGAN
SHELDON ñ Ramona H. Regan, age 74, widow of John Regan, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 24, 2006, at the Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.

She was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Highgate, the daughter of the late Merrill and Mable (Austin) Smith.

She was a resident of Sheldon most of her life and attended the Rice Hill Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb to make flowers grow. She was also a great cook and enjoyed sewing. Most of all she loved to work along side her husband John, cutting wood, sugaring and haying.

She is survived by her children, Eileen Benneig of Sheldon, Darrell Regan and his wife Jenny of Sheldon, and Darlene Larose and her husband Chris of St. Albans; her grandchildren, Jesse, Robert, Selina & Eric Benneig, Adam & Hayley Regan, and Jacob & Christian Larose; her sister, Marilyn Ashton and her husband Edwin of Richford; her brothers, Larry Smith of Kalispell, MT, Francis Smith and his wife Gloria of Whitefish, MT, and Howard Smith of Bristol; her aunt, Marvis Lee of Hinesburg; and several niece and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, John Regan on March 3, 1996, they were married on April 13, 1956; her son-in-law, Gary Benneig; and her uncle, Howard Lee.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Lyle Miller officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

A time of visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.

THOMAS GLEN SHEDRICK
ALBURGH VILLAGE - Thomas Glen Shedrick, age 53 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y. following a long illness.

Born in St. Albans, Vt. on Dec. 26, 1952, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lillian (Burt) Shedrick. He attended Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans and on Oct. 28, 1972, was married to the former Joanne LeClaire, who survives him.

As a longtime resident of Alburgh he has been associated for many years with the Alburgh Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and also enjoyed bowling and camping.

In addition to his wife Joanne of 34 years, Tom leaves one son, Thomas Shedrick and his wife Angela; three daughters, Jennifer Mitchell and husband Steve, Brandy Coburn and husband Paul and Crystal Shedrick and fiancÈ Rodney Therrien, all of Alburgh; five grandchildren, Steven, Chyanne & Hunter Mitchell and Thomas Jr. & McKenna Shedrick; one brother, Gregory ìGeorgeî Shedrick and his wife Sherry of Alburgh; two sisters, Rose Tatro and husband Ed of Champlain, N.Y. and Brenda Tatro and husband Timmy of Alburgh. He was predeceased by a sister, Clara Shedrick; and is now reunited with his special friend and companion, ìTucker, î his Black Lab.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will take place later at the family lot in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Rouses Point, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.

HYLA R. GATES
BAKERSFIELD ñ Hyla R. Gates, age 93, widow of Earl O. Gates, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 24, 2006, at the Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans.

She was born in Highgate Center on Oct. 19, 1913, the daughter of the late Hiram S. and Inez E. (Westcot) Willard.

Hyla was a resident of Bakersfield most of her life and was a member of the Bakersfield 1st Congregational Church. She was a 50-plus year member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Bakersfield Chapter and the former Bakersfield Grange. She enjoyed working in her gardens and helping Earl on the farm. Following their retirement Hyla and Earl enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips.

She is survived by her children, Samuel W. Gates and his wife Barbara of Bakersfield, Mary Melissa Tatro of Enfield, Conn., and Lindsey E. Gates and his companion Sally Bashaw of Enosburg Falls; her grandchildren, Rhonda, Brenda & Scott; Hobie, Hyla & Sheri; and Lesha, Lynn, Tiffany, Johanna & Seth; her great-grandchildren, Josh, Jared, Jordan, Samantha, Dakota, Riley, Cheynne, Matthew, Gregory, Andrea, Regina, Hannah, Brittany, Carter & Mason; her sister, Lorraine Towle of Fairfax; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and close family friends, Pam Gratton, Terri Gates and Lise Gates. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Earl O. Gates on June 26, 1994; a grandson, Luc Gates on April 17, 1996; and a sister, Esther Kinney on May 31, 1980.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Bakersfield 1st Congregational Church with Rev. Sue Marie Baskette officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
