KENNETH HERBERT "RED" BOHANNON

HIGHGATE -- Kenneth Herbert "Red" Bohannon, 68, a native of Alburg and a resident of Highgate, went to visit his parents, Franklin and Marie, also a very special friend Lucille Saturday morning, July 7, 2001. Kenneth was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.

Kenneth was born in Alburg June 10, 1933, the son of the late Franklin Herbert Bohannon and Marie Anne (Shedrick) Bohannon. Kenneth attended schools in Alburg.

Kenneth "Red" worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Young's Construction Company before his retirement.

Kenneth leaves his son, Kenneth Bohannon, Jr. and his wife Debbie, and three daughters, Connie Como, Linda Wells and Wanda Duchaine, all in the Swanton and Highgate area; his four sisters, Catherine Pelkey, Claireta Sartwell and her husband Jake, Barbara Duprey and her husband David, Marie Flood and a brother, Floyd and his wife Joyce, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Shirley Swann and Rose Brow for the wonderful care provided to their Dad for the past month.

He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Leona Marie Bohannon and Eliza Hughes; his very special friend and lifelong partner, Lucille LaPlant, who passed away on June 29, 2001.

Friends and relatives may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Tuesday morning, July 10, 2001, from 9 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Bohannon family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Swanton.

ANDRE BOULET

SWANTON -- Mr. Andre Boulet, age 69, died early Saturday, July 7, 2001, in Verdelle Village ECF after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 27, 1931, son of the late Phillip and Elaine (Dumouchel) Boulet in Kingsy Falls, Quebec. On July 27, 1968 he married Anna Mae Blouin, who predeceased him in 1997. He worked for mos of his life as a truck driver for City Feed Company and other companies. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1090, and the Loyal Order of Elks Lodge, 1566.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Theresa Pelissier of Danville, Q.C., Paul Boulet and his wife Jeannie of Sheldon, Jacquelyn Coutu and her husband Marcel of Montreal, Jean-Claude Boulet and his wife Helene of Montreal, a stepdaughter-in-law Diane Robtoy of St. Albans, and a stepson, Doug Robtoy of St. Albans, several nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren, along with four great grandchildren. Besides his wife Anna, he was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Gerald, Bertrand and Jake Boulet.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will follow in the Boulet family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

LAURA H. (ROBTOY) KENYON

JEFFERSONVILLE ­ Laura Harriet (Robtoy) Kenyon, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday, July 6, 2001, at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center Nursing Home in St. Johnsbury. She was born on Sept. 20, 1910, in Belvidere, Vt., daughter of the late Frederick and Alice Robtoy. She married Leo Kenyon. He predeceased her in 1960. She was employed as a cook with the St. Johnsbury Hospital for many years. Laura will be well remembered and greatly missed by her family friends.

She is survived by a brother, Bernard Robtoy and his wife Hilda of Swanton, Vt.; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a very special cousin, Pamela Pratt of St. Johnsbury. She was also predeceased by two brothers, five sisters, Bernice Braley, Yvonne Laplant, Barbara Root, Agnes Button, Evelyn "Jean" Robtoy; a niece, Sergeant Penelope Pelletier and a nephew, Christopher Robtoy.

Visiting hours were held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Monday, July 9, 2001, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, July 9, 2001, at 12 p.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cambridge, with Reverend Francis R. Prive officiating. Burial followed in the family lot in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Laura's memory to the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, "Activities Department, " c/o Cindy Davidson, 1248 Hospital Drive. St. Johnsbury, VT 05819. Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax.

LOYAL P. BLUTO

GRAND ISLE-Loyal P. Bluto, 84, of Allen Road, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 5, 2001, at his home in Grand Isle.

Mr. Bluto was born August 22, 1916, the son of Lewis and Rose Blow Bluto. On February 16, 1939, he married Gladys Ruth Sorrell in Grand Isle. A carpenter by trade, during the Korean Conflict he worked at Shelburne Shipyards helping to build Landing Crafts used during the war. Following this, Loyal and his brothers worked for many years, building several houses in the Indian Acres area of Essex Junction.

A lifelong resident of Grand Isle, Loyal was very knowledgeable about Island history and was very interested in Grand Isle history in particular. He served the Town of Grand Isle as a Lister for several years. Mr. Bluto is survived by his children, Robert Bluto and his wife, Jeanne, of South Burlington, Gary Bluto and his wife, Elizabeth, of St. Albans, and Jean Bluto of Colchester; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Edward Bluto and his wife, Connie, of Grand Isle; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys, on November 2, 2000.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Isle, with the Reverand Philip Branon as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Grand Isle Cemetery.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Joseph's Church, Island Roman Catholic Church Rectory, 501 Route 2, South Hero, VT 05486; the Grand Isle Fire Department, P.O. Box 50, Grand Isle, VT 05458; or to the Grand Isle Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 79, Grand Isle, VT 05458.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service in St. Joseph's Parish Hall. Arrangements are by the Mior Funeral Home of Milton.

THOMAS WILLIAM SUSTIC

FLETCHER -- Thomas William Sustic died with his loving parents at his side at his home in Fletcher on Wednesday July 4, 2001 following a courageous 2-year battle with leukemia. He was born May 18, 1985 in St. Albans and was the beloved son of Deborah Travis and Mark Sustic. He attended Fletcher Elementary School and was going into 11th grade at Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax. He worked briefly at the Foothills Bakery in Fairfax.

Thomas was a young man on the go. He loved music and dancing, to spend time with his friends, and to have a good laugh. Thomas enjoyed being outside on his bike and loved to visit his grandparent's horse farm in Michigan.

Thomas was a very caring and generous spirit who gave more than he ever received. He was always there for his friends to talk to, and often took care of others before himself. His Make-A-Wish Foundation request was to have a party at BFA-Fairfax for his friends and classmates in the fall of 1999. His professional goal was to be a teacher, and Thomas was noted for his exceptional rapport and kindness with younger children.

Thomas handled his leukemia treatment with tremendous courage, determination and grace. He wanted to be seen for himself, not defined by his illness, and lived the precious few years he had on his own terms with a strong will and a true heart.

Thomas is survived by his parents, his sisters Barbara Durgin and BJ Willett, his grandparents Marlene and Jack Sustic of Michigan and Mary and Ed Travis of New York, his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, his dog Skipper, and his cat Freckles.

A service in celebration of Thomas' life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2001 at the Binghamville United Church in Fletcher. A burial service will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery in Fairfax. Visiting hours will held Saturday, July 7, 2001 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., in St. Albans. Casual dress and a spirit of joy are requested for all events.

In lieu of flowers, Tom's parents ask that blood and platelet donations be made to the American Red Cross, Northern Vermont Chapter, 29 Mansfield Avenue, Burlington, VT 05402 (Phone 802-660- 9130). Financial contributions can be sent to the Tom Sustic Fund, c/o Parent to Parent, 69 Champlain Mill, Winooski, VT 05404, which will continue in dedication to helping children with leukemia and their families in Tom's memory.

Deborah and Mark are grateful to Dr. Fred Holmes, Dr. Brad Freisen, Dr. Alan Homans, Dr. Denise Adams, Dr. Jason Lang, Dr. Barry Heath, Sheara Billado PNP, Kathy Kelly PNP, the Children's Specialty Center, the Baird 5 Pediatric Unit and the McClure 3 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit nursing staff, and the incredible nurses who cared for Tom at home. They would also like to thank the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth, Franklin County Home Health, Lamoille Valley Rescue and many others for their compassionate, skilled care of Thomas.

Deborah and Mark would also like to express their hope that Tom is now forever happy, safe and free of pain, and how very much they will always love him and hold him at the center of their hearts.

MARGARET THERESA BOCKUS

HIGHGATE ­ Margaret Theresa Bockus, 65, a lifelong area resident died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Kathleen Hoague-Lamarche on Vermont Route 78 East.

She was born in St. Albans Oct. 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Louis and Florence (Minkler) Greenia. She attended Highgate Schools and was a lifelong member of St. Louis Parish in Highgate Center.

A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family and friends, Margaret will always be remembered as an avid bingo player who enjoyed playing cards and games.

Margaret leaves her daughter, Kathleen Hoague-Lamarche and her husband Marcel of Highgate; four sons, Arnold "Mike" Bockus, Jr. and his wife Jennie, Ronnie Bockus and his wife Julie, and Roy Bockus, Jr. and his wife Jill Mulheron, all of Highgate, and Brian Bockus and his wife Hope of St. Albans; three sisters, Doris Cotnoir of Swanton, Beverly Delisle of Highgate and Joanne Mitchell of Enosburg; four brothers, Harold Greenia of Swanton, Louis Greenia, Jr. of Highgate, Douglas Greenia of Highgate and Mark Greenia of Swanton. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Raquel Hoague, Brad Hoague, Michael Bockus, Jennifer Bockus, Jeremy Machia, Samantha Bockus, Elizabeth Bockus, Haley Bockus and Hannah Bockus; four great grandchildren, Brooke Marshall, Kaitlyn Marshall, Louis Joseph Hemingway, IV and Tiffany Hoague, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. Father Paul C. Houde, temporary administrator, will officiate. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Sunday, July 8, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Margaret's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 150 Kennedy Drive, So. Burlington, VT 05403.

RUSSELL T. GOODHUE

ENOSBURG FALLS -- Russell T. Goodhue, age 76, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Verdelle Village ECF in St. Albans following a long illness.

He was born in Enosburg Jan. 23, 1925, the son of Blanche (Messier) Goodhue and the late N.R. Goodhue.

Russell had been a resident of Enosburg most of his life and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was very active in Village affairs serving as Trustee and a member of the Planning Commission. Russell was a contractor in Enosburg for many years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a life member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #42 of Enosburg and also a past District Commander.

He is survived by his mother Blanche Goodhue of Enosburg; two sons, Christopher Goodhue and his wife Mary Beth Sievens of Enosburg and their children Damian and Joshua; Scott Goodhue and his wife Brenda of Fairfield and their three children, Seth, Austin and Cole; two step-daughters, Agatha Haley of Enosburg, Teresa Cantu of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Barbara MacBryde of Granitville; a niece Cindy MacBryde and a grand nephew, Shane Companion. He was predeceased by his father N.R. Goodhue in 1982 and a son, Stephen Goodhue in 1962.

Friends are invited to call on the family Saturday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls. Following the visiting hours a graveside service will be held at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg at 2:30 p.m.

WESLEY HOLDEN

VALE, N.C. -- A memorial service for Wesley W. Holden, 71, who died June 3, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Jct., was held June 9, 2001, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in West Lebanon, N.H. Burial was held in the Richmond (Maine) Cemetery.

He was born May 30, 1930, a son of William D. Holden and Gilda (Clapper) Holden in Highgate.

He attended schools in Swanton, Franklin and BFA in St. Albans.

He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served nine years in the army as a tank commander and 11 years in the Air Force as a flight engineer and airplane mechanic. After his military service, he worked in construction, living in Dover, Del. before returning to Vermont in 1978. He was married to Crystal J. Mills in 1980. They later moved to Maine, where they lived until moving to North Carolina in 1997.

Mr. Holden was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving as deacon, elder and teacher. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and music.

Survivors include his wife of Vale, N.C.; two sons, Calvin of St. Albans, W.Va., and Wesley of Sissonville, W.Va.; three stepsons, Robert Mills of Wausau, Wisc., Scott Mills of Arden, N.C., and Tony Mills of Watertown, Mass.; five grandchildren; four sisters, Beverly Dennis of Rutland, Eunice Snyder of Edson, Ohio, Shirley Swartz of Billerica, Mass., and Wilma Power of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother Allen Holden of Coolidge, Ariz., and an uncle, Robert Holden of South Pomfret.

He was predeceased by a brother, William D. Holden and a sister, Dorothy Holden.

The Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., handled the arrangements.
