DANIEL FRANCIS MINER

ST. ALBANS-Daniel Francis Miner, 80, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away Saturday morning, September 15, 2001, at Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in Fairfield, Vermont March 29, 1921, the son of the late Allen and Margaret (Hale) Miner. He retired from the Central Vermont Railway in 1984.

Danny will be remembered as a "die hard Red Sox fan". He was a member of AARP, Franklin County Senior Center, Northeast Fiddlers Association and Central Vermont Railway Veteran's Association. He was a past member of the Franklin County Sportsmen Club.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary D. (Vaudrin) Miner of St. Albans, his daughter and son-in- law, Sue and Daniel Bachand and their children, Sean and Jessica Bachand all of Georgia, Vermont, a sister, Christine Regan of Barre, Vermont, a brother, Bruce Miner and his wife, Brenda of Mulberry, Florida, a special nephew, Ronald Regan and his wife, Ann, and their children, Emily and David of Barre, Vermont, four sisters-in-law; Beverly Nolan of Virginia Beach, VA, Carol Dickerson of Illinois, Janet Gibeau of Pawtucket, RI, and Patricia Sharp of South Carolina. He also leaves two brothers-in-law, John Vaudrin and his wife Kathy and Armand Vaudrin and his wife, Sybil.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Franklin County Senior Center, Messenger St., St. Albans, VT 05478. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

LYNDON F. MURRAY

MILTON -- Lyndon F. Murray, Sr., 57, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Lyndon was born in Milton on Aug. 11, 1944 the son of Raymond and Florence (Sheldon) Murray.

Lyndon was an avid lifetime hunter and fisherman. He had retired from the Pizzagalli Construction Company where he had worked as a carpenter, based for many years at IBM in Essex.

A U.S. Army veteran, having served his country in Vietnam, Lyndon was a member of the American Legion Post # 57, Milton, V.F.W. Post 7848 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #753 of St. Albans.

On Dec. 2, 1967 he married the former Donna Badger in the United Church of Milton.

In addition to Donna, Lyndon is survived by his son, Lyndon Murray II of Swanton, Melissa Murray of Colchester, and Andrew Murray of Milton, by his grandchildren Elizabeth, Heather, Kristin, Ashley, and Ethan.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Ruth and Victor Trivento or Georgia, Michael and Ruth Murray of Fairfax, Dianna and Dan Chamberlain of Milton, Raymond Murray of Milton, Marie and Richard Fitzgerald of Franklin, Lisa and Wayne Gould of Alburg, Steven and Martha Murray of St. Albans, Terry and Kim Murray of Enosburg, and Craig and Sherri Murray of Enosburg; and by his uncle Lyndon Sheldon of Milton.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Phyllis Badger of Milton; his brothers- and sisters-in-law Meril and Brenda Badger of Vergennes, Michael and Patricia Badger of Milton, Bradley and Karen Badger of Winooski, Theresa Smith of Jeffersonville, Terrance and Sue Badger of Milton, Deborah Brown of Milton and Patricia and Chad Hay of Fairfield, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 17, 2001 at 10 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton with the Rev. Philip Chase officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the Milton Village Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home. A VVA service will be held Sunday evening at 8:30.

Memorial contributions in Lyndon's memory may be made to either the Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Rd., Suite 1, Colchester, Vt., 05446 or to the VVA, Lyndon Murray Sr. Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 965, St. Albans, Vt., 05478. Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home of Milton.

ROLAND J. PELLETIER

GEORGIA -- Mr. Roland J. Pelletier, age 89, died Friday morning, Sept. 14, 2001, in Verdelle Village, E.C.F. Roland was born in Montreal, Que., June 22, 1912, son of the late Joseph Pierre and Josephine (Beaupre) Pelletier. He was a carpenter and dairy farmer on Georgia Shore all his working life. He was a former communicant of Holy Angels Church. He was a member of the St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery.

Dec. 5, 1936 Roland married Lucille Trottier. She died March 26, 1988. Mr. Pelletier is survived by his five children and their spouses, John and Margaret Pelletier, Jacqueline and Arnold Cope, Bernard Pelletier, Diane and Gary Barker and Linda Pelletier all of Georgia, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angle's Church. St. Albans. Interment will be in the Pelletier family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady and Levesque Funeral Home.

JANE E. CHARRY

EAST FAIRFIELD -- Jane E. Charry, age 87, wife of John Charry, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 12, 2001, at her daughter's home in East Fairfield.

She was born in Elizabeth, N.J. Jan. 24, 1914, the daughter of Alvin & Florence (Douglas) Eaton. Jane and her husband John lived in New Hope, Pa. for 30 years and then moved to Goshen, Vt. in 1964. Earlier this month they moved to East Fairfield.

Jane is survived by her husband, John Charry; one son Nicholas Charry and his wife Diane of New Hope, Pa.; two daughters, Alida Elliott and her husband William of Machipongo, Va., and Marcia Brewster and her husband Kingman of East Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Kathryn, Stephen, Rachel, Xena, Michelle, Kingman IV, Megan and Nathan; five great grandchildren, Alida II, Arron, Kevin, Brett and Merideth.

In keeping with Jane's wishes, she was cremated and there will be no services at this time.

For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency - Hospice Program, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.

GORDON H. GARROW

MONTGOMERY (WEST HILL) -- Gordon H. Garrow, age 77, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at VerDelle Village Extended Care Facility in St. Albans following a long illness. He was born in Montgomery on Nov. 17, 1923, the son of the late Isadore and Alice (Farmer) Garrow.

Gordon has been a resident of West Hill since1948 and a former resident of Richford. He was employed as a farmer, highway construction employee and later was self-employed as a carpenter, retiring in 1975. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post #12 of Richford.

He is survived by four sons, Walter Garrow and his wife Cindy of Hartland, Ralph Garrow of Richford, Dale Garrow and his wife Roberta of Claremont, N.H., and Scott Garrow and his wife Becky of Claremont, N.H.; eight daughters, Laura Britton of Keene, N.H., Ila Wilson of Elk Lake, Ont., Lila Elkins and her husband Lyndol of Montgomery Ctr., Donna Armstrong and her husband Leonard of Champlain. N.Y., Pauline Domina of Berkshire, Betty Kidder of Thornton, Colo., Ann Roy of Springfield, and Brenda Seymour and her husband Arthur of Unity, N.H.; two brothers; Leonard Garrow of Post St. Lucia, Fla., and Clifford Garrow of Waterbury; four sisters, Florence Cameron of St. Albans, Evelyn Malerba of Norwich, Conn., Marjorie Duhaime of Preston, Conn., and Frances Gauvin of Pembrooke, Ont.; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., in Enosburg Falls, with Ted Hemenway officiating. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery.

Friends may call on the family at the Spears Funeral Home Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

LEON A. WEST

BAKERSFIELD -- Leon A. West, age 89, died Tuesday afternoon Sept. 11, 2001 at his home.

He was born July 19, 1912 in Fulford, P.Q., Canada, son of the late Oliver A. and Vera E. (Wilson) West.

He was a resident of Bakersfield and Fairfield most of his life and was employed at several area dairy farms until 1969 and then at Swanton Packing. He also was a janitor at the Bakersfield Elementary School, retiring in 1977. Leon enjoyed tinkering, puttering and fixing things in his shop.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth V. (Stubbs) West of Bakersfield; two daughters and their husbands, Leona and Donald Paul of Essex Jct. and Vera and Alan Lawyer of Bakersfield; one son, Harold F. West of Bakerfield; nine grandchildren, Monica Hawke and her husband John, Heidi Paul, Kimberly Lunderville, Jennifer Racine, Michael and Marsha Lawyer, Brittany, Leon, and Lacy West; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Meredith Hawke; one sister, Elsie Smith of Lynn, Mass.; two half-brothers, Bruce and Clayton Wright of Canada; one half-sister, Pearl Curtis of Canada; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Dorcas J. Borucki; two brothers, Leonard and Harold West; one sister, Gertrude Hoeg; two brothers, Kenneth and Ronald Wright.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001 at 2 p.m., at the Bakersfield Congregational Church with Pastor Marshall True officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478

The family would like to thank Franklin County Home Health for the special care given to Leon during his illness.

GORDON A. WINTERS

SWANTON -- Gordon A. Winters, 91 peacefully passed away Sept. 10, 2001. Gordon was a life-long Franklin County resident, and prominent Swanton businessman. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; his son, Alan and his wife, Margaret; his son, John and his wife, Lauriette; three grandsons, Jeffery, Michael and Gordon Winters; and one granddaughter, Stacie Scangas; also five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a special niece, Janet Scott; and his longtime employee, and dear family friend, Elizabeth Root.

There will be no calling hours, a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were made by the Kidder Memorial Home, Swanton, Vt.

JOHN POLANSHEK

PUNTA GORDA, Fla./ST. ALBANS, Vt. - John Polanshek, 71, died after a brief illness, Sunday Sept. 9, 2001 at home. He was born in Luzerne, Pa., Sept. 6, 1930.

He retired from the Department of Justice and has resided in Punta Gorda since 1992. John served his country in the Navy, Air Force, Merchant Marines, and Army Reserves.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda. He leaves his wife, Constance; four children, John Polanshek Jr., of St. Albans, Ellen Mullins, and Cynthia Bruner of Cape Coral, Fla., and Frank Polanshek of Charlotte Harbor, Fla.; five grandchildren; Diana and Suzanne of St. Albans, Joseph, Jessica and Michelle of Cape Coral.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda, Rev. Robert Sams officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Memorial Fund of First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda.
