Florice Ryan
Vergennes, Vermont
Florice E. Aunchman LaDuc Ryan, 102, died peacefully, Thursday, October 14, 1999 at Mt. View Center in Rutland, after many years of failing health.
She was born May 27,1897 in Orwell, the daughter of Jacob and Fanny (Burdiau) Aunchman. She was married to Curtis LaDuc and David Ryan, both deceased.
Her three sons, Roy, Stanley and his wife Gertrude and Reginald and his wife Hilda, all have pre-deceased her.
She is survived by her granddaughter Pauline Hayden and her husband Jack of Port Charlotte, Florida; her grandson William LaDuc and his wife Joyce of Marietta, Georgia, and a great-grandson, Jason Hayden, stationed with the USAF in Arizona.
Florice lived in Vergennes for many years, and while there, she was a member of St. Peter's Church and the St. Anne's Society; the Autumn Years Club and the West Panton Homemakers Club.
When she became unable to live alone, she made her home with George and Cathy Apgar in New Haven and later with Amy Rochon in Bristol. She moved to Mt. View Center Genesis Elder Care in Rutland in 1997. She will be missed by many of those who cared for her, including Ron and Claire Stevens of Cornwall.
She will be remembered for her good humor and happy disposition. She loved music, at one time playing piano for LaDuc's Orchestra with her three sons.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home ion Vergennes. Father Adam Krempa officiated.
Burial was held in St. Genevieve's Cemetery in Shoreham, Vermont.
Donations in Florice's memory would be gratefully appreciated by the Activity Fund at Mt. View Center, 9 Haywood Avenue, Rutland, Vermont 05701.

Gary D. Bonesteel
Vergennes, Vermont
Gary D. Bonesteel, 53, died suddenly Friday, October 15, 1999.
He was born April 14, 1946 in Burlington, the son of Milford and Elizabeth (Remelee) Bonesteel.
He was a member of Vergennes American Legion Post #14, Addison County Eagles Club in Vergennes, and R.V.A. in Burlington. In addition, he retired from the Air National Guard, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.
Gary is survived by his special friend, Etta Ball of Vergennes; a daughter, Tracey Brunet of Burlington; two aunts, Marion LeBeau of Vergennes, Francis Adams of Bridport; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, PO Box 11, Vergennes, Vermont 05491.

Harold E. Browe
Ferrisburgh, Vermont
Harold Erwin Browe, 66, died Saturday, October 16, 1999 at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.
He was born on November 15, 1932 in Florence, the son of Vernon and Elizabeth (Kelly) Browe.
He was a member of the Middlebury Lion's Club. He was employed by Blodgett Supply Company for twenty years as a salesman, and at Capital Plumbing for seven years.
Harold is survived by three children; Harold E. Browe, Jr. of Florida, Judy Ka'aihue of Hawaii, and Greg Browe of Maryland; three grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Browe of Florence; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Peck and four brothers, Gerald, Vernon, Richard and Robert Browe.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 21, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford at a later date.

Rolan S. Farr
Bristol, Vermont
Rolan S. Farr, 78, died Saturday, October 16, 1999 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.
He was born December 10, 1920 in Lincoln, the son of Seymour M. and Leah (Butterfield) Farr.
Rolan was a member of the Lincoln United Church.
He served in the Army Air Corp from September 1942 until October 1945. He flew 50 combat missions overseas with the Eighth Air Force in WWII. He received the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart. He was a member of the Bristol American Post #19.
Rolan married Rodna V. Fenton in Dacater, Illinois on October 28, 1945. They farmed in South Bristol for 25 years, beginning in 1950, and during that time they established and ran Elephant Mountain Campground until May of 1999.
He is survived by his wife Rodna Farr of Bristol; a brother, Maynard Farr and his wife Barbara of S. Starksboro; three sisters, Muriel Orvis of Lincoln, Norma and her husband Wayne Carr of Bridport, and Eleanor Thompson and her husband Fred of Lincoln. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment was in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.

Arnold J. LaRock
Forestdale, Vermont
Arnold John LaRock, 79, died Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington.
Mr. LaRock was born in Forestdale on November 16, 1919. He was the son of Dewey and Agnes (Dimick) LaRock. He received his early education in local Forestdale schools and was graduated from Brandon High School, Class of 1938. In his earlier years, he was employed by the First National Store in Brandon. He later was the manager for the First National in Richford, Vermont. He married Phyllis Bishop on October 13, 1940 in Forestdale. She predeceased him May 5, 1972. Mr. LaRock was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army in the Western Pacific Theatre of Operations. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Vermont and worked at Fellows Gearshaper in Springfield. He returned to Forestdale in 1947 from Alstead, New Hampshire and worked for the Rutland Railroad until their closure in the late 1950's. He retired in 1985 following 26 years with General Electric. He was a member of St. Paul's Masonic Lodge #25 F&AM, and the Brandon American Legion Post #55. In earlier years he had been a Vestryman and Warden at Grace Episcopal Church in Forestdale.
Surviving is his wife Avis Devino LaRock of Forestdale, whom he married June 16, 1973; four sons, A. John LaRock of Enfield, New Hampshire, Ronald LaRock of Forestdale, David LaRock of Benson and Moe LaRock of Forestdale; one daughter, Pamela Baker of Chester; two brothers, Donald LaRock of Waterbury and Roger LaRock of Brandon; one sister, Thelma LaCoss of Brownington, Vermont. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-granddaughters and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 22, 1999 at Grace Episcopal Church in Forestdale. A graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, followed in Forestdale Cemetery.
The Reverend Gordon Bardon, Rector officiated. Kenneth Brown was Minister of the Alter. Organist was Jeanette Hoff.
Memorial gifts may be made, in his memory, to The Brandon Area Rescue, PO Box 232, Brandon, Vermont 05733, or to the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association, 7 Albert Cree Drive, Rutland, Vermont 05701.

Roger E. Reynolds
Lincoln, Vermont
Roger E. Reynolds, 76, died Friday, October 22, 1999 at his home in Lincoln.
He was born on April 7, 1923 in Cambridge, the son of Edgar and Addie (Powell) Reynolds.
Roger was the maintenance supervisor at Van Raalte Company in Bristol until his retirement.
He was a member of the Bristol Libanus Lodge #47 F&AM, Cairo Temple Shrine in Rutland.
Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice (James) Reynolds of Lincoln; four children; Stephen Reynolds of Bristol, Jeffery Reynolds of New York, Judy Booth of New York, Julie Curtis of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 25, 1999 at the Lincoln United Church. Masonic services were held during the service. Interment will be in South Cambridge Cemetery at a later date.

Dewey R. Benjamin
Bristol, Vermont
Dewey R. Benjamin, 76, died Sunday, October 24, 1999 at his home in Bristol.
He was born on October 19, 1923 in Hanover, New Hampshire, the son of James and Marion (Brown) Wilson Benjamin.
Dewey served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Bristol American Legion Post #19. He retired from Simmonds Precision Products.
He was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman, crossword puzzler and reader. Dewey enjoyed his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean (Fillian) Benjamin of Bristol; a son, James D. (Benji) Benjamin and his wife Kathleen (Liberty) of Bristol; a daughter Lynda Cobb and her husband Robert W. of Waltham; granddaughters Angie Benjamin and her friend John Kennedy of Bristol, Jennifer Cobb and her fiance Jason Kinsley of Waltham; the youngest granddaughter Rachel Cobb; two sisters Ivis Masterson and her husband Steward of Lincoln, Shirley Benjamin of Starksboro; a brother Carl Benjamin and his wife Doris of Inglis, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
Dewey was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Cobb.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 28, 1999 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment was in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.
