GERALD PARKHURST REYNOLDS

MILTON, Vt. / LIBERTY, S.C. - Gerald Parkhurst Reynolds, 89, a resident for 63 years of Cherry Street, Milton, died on Feb. 24, 2008, in Liberty, S.C., at the home of his daughter, Kay Tillotson. He was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Milton, the son of Gordon and Ella (Parkhurst) Reynolds. On Sept. 15, 1942, he married Barbara Melissa Pelkey, who died March 28, 1996.

Gerald was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church. He lived and worked on his father’s farm on Hardscrabble Road in Milton in his early years, attended Milton schools and worked for many years in the woods of Chittenden and Franklin County cutting trees and pulpwood. Gerald worked for the Milton Town Highway Department, the Woolen Mills in Winooski, Vermont Furniture Company, and did carpentry and painting. His last position was with American Supertemp and Haveg, that later became Champlain Cable, from September 1959 until his retirement in November 1981.

He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley (Sharkey) and his wife, Shirley; his sisters, Daurice (Kelly) and husband, Larry Lascelles, and Carolyn Ploof; and brother-in-law, Sam Vezerian. He is survived by his sister, Hilda Vezerian, of Oakland, Calif.; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Gloria Reynolds of Burlington, Vt.; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathaleen (Kay) and Richard Tillotson, of Liberty, S.C., and Sharon and Warren Morehouse of Odessa, Texas; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Daniel Gauthier, James, John, and Casey Tillotson, Ann (Morehouse) Brobst and Scott Morehouse; his great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 5 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 37 Elmwood Ave., Burlington, Vt. 05401.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

SWANTON - Mrs. Hilda L. Parah, age 95 years, a longtime resident of the Waugh Farm Road, died late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2008, at the Haven Health Care Center in St. Albans Town.

Born in Fairfield, Vt. on Feb. 12, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Hattie (Laroe) Ovitt. She attended schools in Fairfield and on Nov. 29, 1934, was married to Arnold Frederick Parah, who predeceased her on Feb. 18, 1997.

Mrs. Parah will be remembered as a person who loved animals. She took pride in feeding the birds along with caring for many stray dogs and cats that would frequent the outside of her home. She also took pride in her beautiful flower gardens with the assistance of her daughter-in-law, Susan Stanne.

She leaves her seven children: Arnold Parah and wife, Carol, Gerald Parah and wife, Diane, Ronald Parah and companion, Paula Bushey, all of Swanton, Carlene St. Denis and husband, David of Southwick, Mass., Leonard Parah and companion, Shirley Ives of St. Albans, Ruth Ahders and husband Leonard, of Colonie, N.Y., and Larry Parah and wife, Susan Stanne of Williston; many grand and great-grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Michelle Sheldon, husband, Steve, and great-grandson, Brandon Marchant. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Betty Parah of Swanton; close friends, Carol Horton and Elaine Bard; best friends and neighbors, Mark Berger and his wife, Janet; social workers and care givers, Faith Perrino-Dubois, Kathy Perry, Rebecca Gill and Susan Ward; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Parah was predeceased by a son, Renfrew “Rene” Parah, on Dec. 21, 2007.

Graveside Funeral Services and Interment will take place in the spring from the Parah family lot at the Sheldon Village cemetery. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate. There will be no public calling hours.

Gifts in Mrs. Parah’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Vermont Affiliate, 12 Hurricane Lane, Williston 05495.

SWANTON - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Benedict C. Kiely was the celebrant and homilist. Edward Daniel and Joseph Gamache served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Claire Chevalier Hungerford. Cecile’s niece, Dr. Gail Snow and Thomas Darcy, presented The Offertory Gifts.

Among those in attendance were representatives from the Nativity and St. Louis Parish Communities and the Hi-Swans Senior Citizens.

The Rite of Committal and Interment followed in the Snow family lot in Riverside cemetery with Father Kiely reading the committal prayers. The bearers were Greg Simard, Kristin Simard, Thomas Darcy and Gary Centabar.

Gifts in Cecile’s memory may be made to the Hi-Swans Senior Citizens, in care of Roger Ostiguy, 47 Church St., Swanton 05488.

MARION T. (PETERS) CUTTING
Cambridge, Vt.

Marion T. (Peters) Cutting, 86, formerly of Winchendon, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Gardner.

Marion, daughter of the late Ira and Flora (Robinson) Peters, was born in Cambridge, Vt. on Feb. 3, 1922, but lived in Winchendon most of her life. Her beloved husband, Robert E. Cutting, died June 1, 1992. For many years, Marion was employed as an Immigration and Border Patrol Agent for the Department of Homeland Defense.

Marion was a member of the Jaffrey Bible Church and former member and Treasurer of the Bethany Bible Chapel in Winchendon. She enjoyed reading the Bible and prayed for her children by name every day. She loved covered bridges and seeing the foliage each autumn. She would eagerly anticipate trips to see the leaves each fall. Marion also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and listening to music.

Marion is survived by six sons: Richard D. Cutting of Portland, Maine, Roger A. Cutting and his wife. Gail. of Noma, Fla., Robert E. Cutting of Gardner, Randall M. Cutting of Winchendon, Ronald E. Cutting and his wife, Michelle, of Peterborough, N.H., and Rodney L. Cutting of Ashburnham; two daughters: Marlene R. Adams of Gardner and Marilyn J. Mercier and her husband, Robert, of Gardner; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Peters and Pauline Peters.

You are invited to attend her visiting hours in Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 3. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 4, at 11 a.m. Rev. Richard Needham, associate pastor of the Jaffrey Bible Church in Jaffrey, will officiate. Burial in Riverside cemetery, Winchendon will take place in the spring. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, Winchendon.

LUTHER EDWARD CLARK

RICHFORD - Luther Edward Clark, age 77, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

Luther was born in Richford, March 29, 1930, the son of the late Francis and Mildred (Jacobs) Clark.

Luther was a lifelong resident of Richford. As a young man he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Italy. Following his honorable discharge he worked at Sweat Comings Furniture Factory for over 20 years. Shortly after his retirement he joined his brother Paul in a carpentry business that spanned over 30 years. He was an avid wood worker; enjoyed jig saw puzzles and loved to hunt and fish especially with his brother and nephews.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Clark; nephews and their wives, Gregory and Candace Clark, Ricky and Doreen Clark, and Joey and Penny Clark, all of Enosburgh, and Gary Clark of Massachusetts; his great-nephews and nieces, Bradley, Dereck, Allison, Lucas his wife, Becky, and their daughter, Molly, Corey, Matt, Alana, Adam and Ashleigh. Besides his parents, Luther was predeceased by two brothers, Douglas and Paul Clark.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford, with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will take place this spring in All Saints cemetery in Richford.

A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2 o’clock until the hour of the funeral.

Sandra Lee Mosier, age 60, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

She was born in Cambridge, Vt., April 25, 1947, the daughter of the late Glenn and Pearl (Elliott) Mosier.

Sandra was a resident of Sheldon most of her life. She had been employed at IBM for a short period as well as operating a day care in Sheldon. Sandra enjoyed collecting angels, and dolls, taking rides and going to the beach. Most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Lori Bushey of Swanton, Kim Bushey and her boyfriend, William Clark, of Swanton, Robert Bushey Jr. of Berkshire, Amy Farnham of Sheldon, and Brian Bushey and his girlfriend, Jennifer Pelston, of Sheldon; her former husband, Robert Bushey Sr., of Sheldon; 12 grandchildren; half sister, Janice Gratton and her husband, Arnold, of Huntington; three sisters, Rose Lamoureux of Berkshire, Roberta Martin and her husband, Allen “Bud,” of Enosburg and Barbara Corse and her husband, Clifford “Junior,” of Berlin; two brothers, Glenn Mosier Jr. of Waterbury, and Charlie Mosier of Jeffersonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, March 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Reverend Rich O’Donnell officiating. Interment will be this spring in the Sheldon Village cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Miss Sara Rae Aucoin in Holy Angels Church on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. Father Maurice Roy, pastor, concelebrated the Mass with longtime family friend, Father Dallas St. Peter, from St. Mary Star of The Sea Church in Newport, Father Daniel Lokanga, associate pastor of Holy Angels Church. Assisting at the Mass and Reading the Most Holy Gospel was Deacon Duane Langlois, Deacon of Holy Angels Church. Altar servers were Russell Porwitzky and Donald Poirier. Ushers were Anthony Heinlein and Donald Poirier. Music was provided by family friend, Caroline St. Peter, soloist, and Claire Hungerford, organist and soloist. Holy Scripture Lessons were read by Carol St. Peter and Steve Jarvis. Fond words of remembrance were shared by Father St. Peter, with the large number of people attending.

Among those were representatives of Northwestern Medical Center nursing staff, physicians, administration and volunteers, Handy Dodge and Toyota, Handy Chevrolet, Franklin County Quilters Guild, Holy Angels and Ascension Parish office staff, Heinlein Construction, Smith Real Estate, Swanton Town offices, Smith-Barney Financial Services, Wellness Massage Center, Cross Engineering Consultants, U. S. Postal Services, Barry Callebaut, U.S.A., and many Meadowbrook Lane neighbors.

Bearers were her step-brother, Bobby Krupp; uncles, Pat Barney, Joseph Barney; cousin, Jeff Barney; and friends, John Heinlein and Eric Deslauriers.

Following Prayers of Committal by Fathers Roy, Lokanga and St. Peters, interment was in the Aucoin family lot in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Those attending sang “Happy Birthday” in honor of Sara’s 28th birthday. The family and friends attended a luncheon in Holy Angels Parish Center, hosted by the Ladies of St. Anne.

Friday afternoon, Father Roy held a Christian Wake Service with Sara’s family and friends in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Margaret J. Raymond in Holy Angels Church on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1:30 p.m. Father Maurice Roy, pastor, and Father Daniel Lokanga, associate pastor, concelebrated the Mass. Altar servers were Normand Blouin and Paul Bouchard. Mrs. Gail Perras was the soloist and guitarist. The Holy Scripture Lessons were read by grandchildren, Susan and Andrew Rainville.

A Guard of Honor was present from the St. Albans City Firefighters. Attending were representatives of The St. Albans Town Fire Department and Auxiliary members, Franklin County Court, U. S. Postal Services, St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery, Vermont House of Representatives, Northwestern Medical Center, Northwest Counseling and Support Services, Colonial Styling Center, Bonnett Welding, Lake Street Auto Service, Ed & Rosemarie White Auto Sales, The Razormaster, Peoples Trust Bank, Fairfield Town Clerk and Town officers, Magnan, Brannon, Brodeur, Bourbeau, Howrigan, and Yandow family farms, Fletcher Allen Health Center, Barlow Street Housing of Winooski, many parishioners of St. Patrick’s Church in Fairfield, Ascension Church of Georgia and Holy Angels Church.

Bearers were her granddaughters, Linda Hodet, Lisa Yates, Lori Lamos, Kristen Bachand, Susan Rainville, Debra Goodrich and Sandra Raymond.

Following Prayers of Committal by Father Roy and Father Lokanga, interment was in the Raymond family lot in St. Anne’s cemetery in Milton.

Friday afternoon, Father Roy held a Christian Wake Service with Margaret’s family and friends in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
