Sally Rachael (Nye) Danyow, age 49 years, died late Thursday evening, May 13, 2010, in the Northwestern Medical Center, with loving family at her side.

Born in St. Albans on Aug. 12, 1960, she was the daughter of Charles and Louise (LeBlanc) Nye. She received her elementary education in Highgate schools graduating in 1978 from Missisquoi Valley Union High School. On July 26, 1980, she was married to Danny Danyow, who survives her.

Since October of 1992, Sally has worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Franklin County Early Childhood Programs. She was presently serving as Secretary for the Sheldon Forest Committee and Sheldon Success by Six and in earlier years also served as Secretary for the Highgate Historical Society.

Sally was a lifelong devoted parishioner of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church and had served as both a parish Lector and second grade Religious Education Teacher.

In addition to her husband, Dan, of 30 years, Sally leaves her two sons, Jeremy Ray Danyow of St. Albans, and Jimmy Robert Danyow of Swanton; her parents, Charles and Louise Nye of Highgate Center; mother-in-law, Margaret Hendrick and husband, Bruce, of Sheldon; her brothers, sisters and their spouses: Ronald Nye and Lise Coutts of Highgate, Deborah and Larry Bourdeau of Swanton, Douglas and Cindy Nye of Highgate, Catherine and Brian Danyow of Sheldon, James Nye of Georgia, Jane and Daniel Menard of Highgate and Robert and Susan Nye of Sheldon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Lorraine Danyow of Sheldon, Sandy Banks of Montgomery and Stan Hendrick of Enosburgh; 18 nieces and nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

It was Sally’s request that ‘sincerest thanks’ go out to Dr. Gamal Eltabbakh, Toni Duclos and Dr. Terri Nielson for their outstanding care.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Thomas D. Nadeau will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Danyow family lot in St. Anthony cemetery, Sheldon Springs. Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, today (Monday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Charles A. Bridges, 62, of Highbridge Road in New Ipswich, died Nov. 10, 2007, at his home following a long battle with cancer.

Born March 30, 1945, in Bennington, Vt., he was the son of Harold Bridges and Agnes (Jewett) Bridges Smith, and the stepson of Addison Smith.

He graduated from Richford (Vt.) High School in 1964 and has worked as a mechanic, farmer, and recently as a truck driver for the Seppala & Aho Construction Co. of New Ipswich.

His happiest years were spent in New Hampshire.

He enjoyed spending time with all of his friends at the Hope Fellowship Church of New Ipswich. For many gatherings, he always included his favorite mother-in-law, Carmella DeBell of Jaffrey, and sisters-in-law, Carolyn DeBell and Penny Reid.

Members of his family include: his wife, Terriann DeBell Bridges; two sons, Charlton Bridges and his wife, Tami, of Hement, Calif., and Charles Bridges of Ayer, Mass.; four stepsons: Robert Aho and his wife, Joan, of Townsend, Mass., Lance Aho and his wife, Jill, of Chassell, Mich., Caleb Aho and his wife, Jen, of Marlborough, Jesse Aho and his wife, Judy, of Tapiola, Mich.; two sisters, Patricia Korbich and her husband, John, of Paxinos, Pa., and Laura Isleib and her husband, Donald, of Newtown, Pa.; two stepbrothers, Wendell Smith and his wife, Leona, of Dexter, Maine, and Keith Smith and his wife, Cora Mae, of Richford, Vt.; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service was held at Hope Fellowship Church in New Ipswich. Burial followed in the Smithville cemetery, New Ipswich.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Home Health Care, Hospice and Community Services, P.O. Box 564, Keene, 03431.

Jennie Charlotte Hilliker

Dateline: Alburgh / Berlin, Vermont

Jennie Charlotte Hilliker, age 91 years, a longtime resident of Blue Rock Road, Alburgh, went to be with the Lord, Friday February 6, 2015, at the Woodbridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Berlin.

Born in Fairfax on July 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jennie Mae Braley. She graduated from the former Alburgh High School and on February 24, 1944, was married to Clement Hall Hilliker who predeceased her on December 18, 1993.

Jennie was a lifelong devoted and faithful member of the Alburgh Union Bible Church and the Ladies Aide Society. She was also a member of the Alburgh Grange and Public Library and was a longtime supporter of the Franklin County Humane Society. In earlier years, besides her responsibilities as a wife and mother, she assisted with the operation of the family dairy farm and worked as a cook for several years at the Alburgh Country Club and Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant in North Hero.

Jennie leaves two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Landon Greenwood of Elgin, South Carolina and Laura “Butchie” and Harland Reed of Graniteville; two sons, Arthur Hilliker and his fiancée Brenda Hawkins of Norfolk, Virginia and Robert Hilliker and his wife Dorothy of Alburgh; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Clement of 49 years, Jennie was predeceased by two sisters, Ethel Blake and Hazel Patno and two brothers, Robert and George Braley.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday February 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The Union Bible Church, 14 South Main Street, Alburgh Village. Doctor John C. Kehoe, pastor will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hilliker family lot in Riverside cemetery, Swanton.

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Mary Josephine (Oddo) Ross

Dateline: Swanton, Vermont

Mary Josephine (Oddo) Ross, age 88 years, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening October 15, 2014, at the Northwestern Medical Center in Saint Albans, Vermont

Born in Norwalk, Ohio on May 23 1926, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Nina (Casablanca) Oddo. She attended the University of California and in 1955, was married to Manuel Ross who predeceased her in 1991.

A native of Norwalk, Ohio, Mary lived in New York City beginning in the 1940's until the early 1950's. She later moved to Los Angeles, California where she resided until August of this year. Most recently she was living with her nephew, Robert Oddo and his family on Maquam Shore in the Town of Swanton, Vermont

Mary was wonderful at customer relations and during her time in Los Angeles managed the front of the house at several high end restaurants.

Survivors include her brother, Samuel Oddo of Delray Beach, FL; her sister, Caroline Easton and her husband Dr. Allan Easton of Trophy Club, TX; nieces and nephews, Lillie Easton, Robert Oddo and his wife Rhonda, William Oddo of Daingerfield, Texas; great nieces and nephews, Vincent and Alexander Oddo, John Oddo and Faith Oddo of Texas and cousins, Nina Krause and William Oddo.

In addition to her parents and her husband Manuel, Mary was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Ann Oddo in 1966; a brother William Joseph Oddo in 1971 and a sister-in-law, Irene Oddo in August of this year.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday October 23, 2014, at 10 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic cemetery.

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Florence Mary (Dudley) Kinsley

Dateline: Fletcher / Enosburg Falls, Vermont

Florence Mary (Dudley) Kinsley, age 81 years, died Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2015, in the Saint Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with loving family at her side.

Born in Berkshire on, October 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Percy Dean and Ethel Mary (Archambault) Dudley. She attended school in Berkshire and on, July 23, 1977, was married to Donald French Kinsley who predeceased her on, July 26, 2010.

Florence was always very outgoing spending time with family and friends. She may have been short in stature but she wasn’t in personality. She was always happy to help you solve problems, giving you advice whether you wanted it or not. She made sure you knew the difference between right and wrong, standing by her decision with great resolve. Ready at all times to use her favorite phrase, “I told you so.”

During the summer you would find her going to check out what deal she could find at the next yard sale and she had a hard time not picking up something at each and every one. Although she no longer went camping anymore it was not too long ago that taking the granddaughters on vacation was an enjoyed outing. Florence was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Berkshire, actively participating as a Prayer Warrior and going on several Woman Retreats. Florence’s faith was strong and she would always look for ways to give assistance in any spiritual matters to show others how God was there for them.

As an excellent seamstress, Florence worked several years for the Johnson Woolen Mills as well as other sewing facilities in St. Albans, Enosburg Falls and Morrisville.

Florence leaves her son, Paul E. Willequer, his wife Melissa and daughter Mariah of Richford; four daughters, Susan Lapan and her husband Tony of South Carolina and her daughters, Shashaunah and Rebekah and her husband Dustin of Burlington; Mary Morris of Saint Albans and her children, daughter Megan and companion Eli and her daughters, Alaina and Marley of Fairfield, and sons, Micah and his wife Janet of Berkshire, David and his wife Dominique and their sons Dazmir and Daijiro of Virginia; Kim Willequer and companion Cecil Riley of Enosburg Falls and daughter Malissa and companion John and their son Lucas and his sons Anthony, Jordon, and Harley of Franklin, and son Jesse Wells of Enosburg Falls; and Bonnie Root and companion Ian Sansom of Eden Mills; and her sons Nicholas and Jeremy of St. Albans and daughter Jessica and her husband Matt and their daughters Geina and Hanna of Florida. As well as step-son, Leon Kinsley of Fletcher and 3 step-daughters, Donna and her husband Jerry Papariello of Winooski and their son Michael, his wife Beth and their children Kevin and Kyra of South Burlington; Joan and her husband Robert Hanson of Fletcher; and Betty Tassie, her daughter Elizabeth and companion Jack, and son James and companion Kiki and their son Connor of Washington.

She also leaves brothers, and their wives, Hugh and Lillian Dudley of Fairfield and Robert and Joyce Dudley of Bakersfield; a sister Joyce Mitchell and husband Howard of Fairfield as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband Donald, Florence was predeceased by a sister, Marion Rivers and husband Warren, as well as a brother Earl Dudley.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Patrick Hoadley, pastor of The Lighthouse Assembly of God in Berkshire, will officiate. Spring Interment will take place at the Dudley family lot in Saint Mary’s cemetery, Franklin Village. The family would like to request that people wear cheerful colors to celebrate Florence’s life.

A potluck reception to celebrate Florence will follow funeral service at the Abenaki Building, 100 Grand Avenue, across the road from The Kidder Memorial Home. Any questions please call Bonnie at 802-635-9406.

Ronald Alan Case, SR.

Dateline: West Swanton

Ronald Alan Case, Sr. passed away Tuesday evening April 21, 2015 at his West Swanton residence, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side.

Born in New Britain, Connecticut on March 4, 1953, he was the son of Homer Case and Pauline Brouillard, and his special PaPa Charles Witter. On November 11, 2000 he was married to the former Colette Robitaille who survives him.

Ron attended Coginchaug Regional High School in Durham CT. He was an active hunter, Nascar fan, local ice hockey supporter, and enjoyed restoring antique vehicles. In the past few years, Ron enjoyed many cruises and Harley rides with friends and family. His favorite cruise was the most recent one surrounded by his wife and children, and family friends.

During his lifetime, Ron worked at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut, and also started his own construction company. Upon moving to Vermont, he owned and operated a dairy farm and Lakewood Campground with his wife. During the winter months he worked at Barry Callebaut USA, Terry Hill Trucking, Omega Electric, and even built a few houses. He made many friends in the local dairy farming community through his work both as a farmer and delivering Young’s Minerals. As an active member of the community, Ron was on the Swanton Planning Commission from 2002 until recently.

Ron was the guy that everyone could count on to fix anything. He was always more than willing to help anyone in need. He will be remembered as a giver and a family man. Ron took pride in passing his building skills to his three sons.

Ron is survived by his wife; Colette and their children Ronald, Jr., Amanda, Melanie and her husband David Lussier, Richard, Stephanie and Jonathan. Grandchildren; Veronica, Sophia, Tucker, Lillian, Parker and Aubree.

His brothers and sisters and their family; E.J. Chico Fabretti, Gary and his wife Susan Case, Richard Snedeker, Paul and his wife Debra Case, Lee and her husband Ed Drag, Scott Case, John and his wife Mary Gaetano, Donna and her husband Wayne Bizier, Chip Case and his wife Kimberly.

Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Ron leaves behind a countless number of close friends and a very extensive blended family. We apologize if we’ve omitted any names. He will be greatly missed by all the patrons of Lakewood Campground.

He was pre-deceased by his mother Pauline and sibling Thomas Snedeker.

The family would like to thank Dr. Maura Barry and her nurse Ashley Cohen for giving Ron support and guidance through his battle with cancer.

They would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Shepardson 4 for taking such good care of Ron during his 5 week stay at the UVM Medical Center.

Ron was an avid hockey fan, attending hundreds of his children’s hockey games, as they went up the ranks from T- Blade in MAHA to MVU Hockey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missisquoi Valley Amateur Hockey Association PO Box 67, Highgate VT 05459, where a fund is being created in Ron’s name to allow underprivileged children to play hockey.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday April 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton, Father Luke P. Austin will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family lot in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic cemetery.

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
