Maurice H. Robinson

WINDSOR — Maurice H. Robinson, 81, died April 25, 2001, at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center’s Extended Care Facility in Windsor.

He was born June 12, 1919, in Bridgewater, son of Homer and Nellie (Carter) Robinson.

Mr. Robinson married Lucy S. Spaulding on Sept. 14, 1946, in Windsor. She died in 1981.

He was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Windsor for many years before retiring.

He served in the U.S. Army 7th Field Artillery during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey T. Robinson of Phoenix, Ariz., and John S. Robinson of Yacolt, Wash.; two brothers, Robert Robinson of West St. Paul, Minn., and Harold Robinson of Cornish, N.H.; three sisters, Hilda Robinson of West Kingston, R.I., Ursula Peckham of Agawam, Mass., and Gladys Tremblay of Lebanon, N.H.; a granddaughter and grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. Burial will follow in Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Stoughton House, 46 Main St., Windsor, 05089.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knight Funeral Home.

Phyllis D. Wall

WEST CHESTERFIELD, N.H. — Phyllis D. Wall, 81, died April 25, 2001, at her daughter’s home after a long battle with lung cancer.

She was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Grafton, Vt., daughter of Leon and Hattie May (Rounds) Gibbs.

She attended Windham and Townshend, Vt., schools and the School of Art on Long Island, N.Y.

She married Mr. Wall on Dec. 16, 1939, in Brattleboro, Vt. He died in 1994.

Mrs. Wall worked at American Optical in Brattleboro for 35 years, retiring in 1972. For the past eight years she ran Winky & Phyls Indian Trail Gift Shop, which she and her husband, “Winky,” opened in 1956.

She enjoyed listening to her husband and son Doug play guitar and sing evenings at home. She also enjoyed fishing, driving the back roads of New England, planting flowers and rifle shooting. Mrs. Wall was an excellent markswoman and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Dale Dunnell of West Chesterfield; a son, Wallace W. Wall of Springfield, Vt.; two brothers, Elmer Gibbs of Springwater, N.Y., and Leon Gibbs of West Chesterfield; a sister, Ira Fisher of Grafton, Vt.; four grandchildren; an adopted granddaughter; Norman Boyd of Guilford, Vt., her “third son”; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Douglas C. Wall in 1988; a brother, Glenn Gibbs; a sister, Adis Shaw; and infant sister, Palma.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Friedsam Cemetery in Chesterfield with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Roth officiating.

Visiting hours will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ker-Westerlund & Fleming Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice HCS, 69 Island St., Keene, 03431, or the American Lung Association of New Hampshire, 456 Beech St., Manchester, 03101.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ker-Westerlund & Fleming Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 57 High St., Brattleboro, Vt.

Norbert J. Marcoux

BENNINGTON — Norbert J. “Mark” Marcoux, 57, died April 25, 2001, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 20, 1943, in Passaic, N.J., son of Philias and Marie (Corriveau) Marcoux.

He attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from the former Bennington Catholic High School in 1962.

He had worked in the construction industry and was involved in many area building projects including Southern Vermont College and Mount Anthony Union High School. He later pursued a career in nursing and studied to become a licensed practical nurse. Mr. Marcoux worked at the former Putnam Memorial Hospital, now Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, and the Vermont Veterans Home, where he was employed at the time of his death.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Okinowa and Vietnam. He later continued his military career serving in the USMC Reserves and then in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Mr. Marcoux was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of the Vermont Sheriffs Association and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 601. He was also an assistant scoutmaster.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Hale Mountain Fish and Game Club. He was a collector of guns and war paraphernalia and enjoyed building military models. He also was an avid reader, and enjoyed computer games, photography and cooking with soup.

Survivors include his children, Andrew “Andy” Marcoux of Brattleboro, Paul Marcoux of Bennington and Aileen Harrington of Bennington; a brother, Billy Marcoux of Maryland; a sister, Doris Sprague of North Hoosick, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Marcoux; and his former wife, Teresa A. Field, who died in January 2001.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Twardy, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Vietnam Veterans of America will conduct memorial services Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association, in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, 05201.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.

Donald G. Fields

WEYBRIDGE — Donald Gregory Fields, 75, died April 25, 2001, at Cedar Lane Rehabilitation Center in Waterbury, Conn.

He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Louisville, Ky., son of Clarence and Martha (Logston) Field.

He worked as a salesman and owned the Vac and Sew Shop in Middlebury.

Mr. Fields was a retired commanding sergeant major of the U.S. Army, earning many medals of merit.

He obtained 4th degree knight status in the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include three sons, David Fields of Rutland, Charles “Chuck” Fields of Bridport and Donald Fields of Breckenridge, Colo.; three daughters, Debbie DiClemente of Scottsdale, Ariz., Pam Smith of Southington, Conn., and Diana Lally of Webster, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Margaret “Margo” Fields, in 1998.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury with the Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon, as celebrant. A reception will follow immediately after the service downstairs in the parish hall. Graveside committal services and burial will take place in St. Amadeus Cemetery in Alburg.

Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sanderson Funeral Service, 117 S. Main St., Middlebury.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School, College Street, Middlebury, 05753.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service.

George A. Belmain

RANDOLPH — Graveside services for George A. Belmain, 94, who died Feb. 14, 2001, originally scheduled for Monday, April 30, have been rescheduled for Friday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m. in Pleasant View Cemetery with the Rev. Alfred Perry officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home.

Virginia M. FitzGerald

CHARLOTTE — Virginia “Ginny” Moran FitzGerald, 86, died April 26, 2001.

She was born March 29, 1915, in Hartford, Conn., daughter of Mary and Joseph Moran, and older sister to Philip and Rita.

She was class valedictorian of Buckley High School in Hartford, Conn., and graduated from St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, Conn.

She married John Clifford FitzGerald. He died in April 2000 after 58 years of marriage.

Mrs. FitzGerald lived in Farmington, Hartford and West Hartford, Conn., before retiring from Connecticut Bank & Trust to Middlebury.

Survivors include a brother, Philip Moran of West Hartford, Conn.; six children, Susan Dillon of Sharon, Mass., Sharon Carey of Boston, Carol FitzGerald Wright of Stillwater, Pa., Anne FitzGerald Landers of Acton, Mass., John FitzGerald Jr. of Canton, Conn., and Amy FitzGerald Broderick of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Corbin and Palmer Funeral home, 209 Falls Road, Shelburne. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Charlotte at 1 p.m. immediately following with the burial in Grandview Cemetery in Charlotte.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Elderly Services Inc. of Middlebury, P.O. Box 581, Middlebury, 05753.

Evelyn M. Dancoes

Evelyn M. Dancoes, 82, of Rutland and a former resident of White River Junction, died May 2, 2001, at Eden Park Nursing Home after a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Wilder, the daughter of J. Charles and Lillian (Turgeon) Methot.

She graduated from Groveton (N.H.) High School in 1936 and from Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing in 1941.

She married Raymond Dancoes on May 16, 1942.

Mrs. Dancoes was employed as a registered nurse at Mary Hitchcock Hospital for several years.

She was a member of Christ the King Church and a former member of Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include her husband of Rutland; a daughter, Linda Bristol of Lyman, Maine; a son, John Dancoes of Peru, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Methot of South Burlington; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church. A private burial will be held in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Groveton at a later date.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church, 66 South Main St., Rutland, 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of Aldous Funeral Home.

Pearl E. Senecal

The graveside service for Pearl Elizabeth Senecal, 86, of Rutland, who died Jan. 7, 2001, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in East Clarendon Cemetery.

American Legion Post 31 will provide military services.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland.

Charles A. Belock Jr.

Graveside services for Charles A. Belock Jr., 80, of West Rutland, who died Jan. 8, 2001, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery in West Rutland, with the Rev. John Herbert, pastor of St. Bridget’s Church in West Rutland, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Cecil W. Temple

FRYEBURG, Maine — The graveside service for Cecil W. Temple, formerly of Rutland, Vt., who died March 27, 2001, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Forest Dale Cemetery in Brandon.

Beatrice E. Pelletier

CASTLETON — Graveside committal services for Beatrice Eva Pelletier, 71, who died March 8, 2001, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hillside Cemetery in Castleton with the Rev. J. Charles Durham officiating.

Christine A. Brytowski

CASTLETON — The graveside service for Christine A. Brytowski, 51, who died April 8, 2001, will be held Friday in St. Stanislaus Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Warzocha, pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church, 66 South Main St., Rutland, 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home.

George W. Sparks rites

The graveside committal service and burial for George William Sparks, 73, who died April 27, 2001, was held Wednesday in Pine Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church, officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Mary E. Majka rites

SHREWSBURY — The graveside service for Mary Elizabeth Majka, 78, who died April 30, 2001, was held Wednesday in Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Reid Mayo, pastor of Christ the King Church, officiating.

A prayer service was held at the Aldous Funeral Home by the Rev. Mayo prior to the graveside service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program, 80 Belden Road 8, Rutland, 05701, or Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 7 Albert Cree Drive, P.O. Box 787, Rutland, 05702-0787.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home.
