Frederick L. Baker Sr.

DANBY — Frederick Lee Baker Sr., 86, died May 15, 2001, at Mountain View Center Genesis Elder Care after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 3, 1914, in Danby, son of Lawrence and Bertha (Scott) Baker Sr.

He was employed by the Vermont Marble Co. for 30 years prior to his retirement at age 62.

Mr. Baker enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Buffum of North Clarendon, Joanne Holub of Laconia, N.H., and Ella Barrows of Rummey, N.H.; a son, Richard Baker of Enfield, N.H.; three sisters, Edith Harrington, Cassie Baker and Bessie Rowe of Danby; a brother, Lawrence Baker of Clarendon; his step-children, Charlotte Adams, Carolyn Jones, Cecil Buffum, Carroll Buffum, Claude Buffum and Charles Buffum; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wives, Dorothy Hazelton Baker and Christie Buffum Baker; two sons, Frederick Lee Baker Jr., and Gilbert Baker; a sister, Beatrice Rowe; and a brother, Howard Baker.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Danby-Scottsville Cemetery.

Friends may call today from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels program, 80 Belden Road 8, Rutland, 05701, or Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, P.O. Box 787, Rutland, 05702-0787.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home.

Mary L. Huntley

Mary Lyman Huntley, 97, of Naples, Fla., died May 2, 2001, in Naples.

She was born Oct. 11, 1903, in Rutland, daughter of Mary (Pond) and Charles Lyman.

She graduated from Rutland High School in 1921 and Syracuse University in 1926.

She married Robert Fitch Huntley in 1927. He died in 2000.

Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Elledge of Naples, Fla., Deborah “Debbie” Chantler of Skaneateles, N.Y., and Mary Ellen Kane of Bartlesville, Okla.; and a longtime friend, Isabell Marshall Howard of Clarendon.

She was predeceased by a brother, Brig. Gen. Reginald Lyman.

Marilyn E. Vinci

FAIR HAVEN — Marilyn Elizabeth Vinci, 61, died May 15, 2001, at Sager’s Nursing Home in Fair Haven after a long illness.

She was born June 30, 1939, in Rutland, daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth (Olson) Doane.

She graduated from Fair Haven High School in 1956 and continued her education at the University of Vermont.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for various businesses and had been employed by Green Mountain Fish & Produce Co. of Fair Haven for the past 10 years.

Survivors include a brother, Ronald E. Doane of Shrewsbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Angelo Vinci, who died in 1992.

Private memorial services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Fair Haven Rescue Squad, 17 Prospect St., Fair Haven, 05743, or to the Rutland County Humane Society, Box 558, Pittsford, 05763.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home of Fair Haven.

Forrest D. Woods Sr.

The graveside service for Forrest Dewey Woods Sr., 72, of Petersberg, N.Y., and formerly of Rutland, who died Dec. 24, 2000, will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in East Clarendon Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas V. Mattison of Christ the King Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland Country Humane Society Inc., P.O. Box 558, Pittsford, 05763.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home.

Ila L. Carter

The graveside committal services for Ila L. Carter, 95, who died March 27, 2001, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Poultney Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Bishop, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Rutland, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home of Poultney.

Donald R. Carter

The graveside committal service for Donald R. Carter, 67, of Rutland, who died April 23, 2001, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Poultney Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.

Avis A. Norton

BRANDON — The graveside committal service and burial for Avis Aaron Norton, 81, who died Jan. 11, 2001, will be held Thursday at noon in Evergreen Cemetery in Cornwall with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Edward F. Casey

FAIR HAVEN — The graveside committal service for Edward Francis Casey, 55, who died March 17, 2001, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fair Haven with the Rev. Richard Tinney officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home of Fair Haven.

Donald F. Seamans

HAMPTON, N.Y. — The graveside committal service and burial for Donald “Midge” F. Seamans, 77, who died Jan. 10, 2001, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Poultney (Vt.) Village Cemetery with the Rev. Arthur Richey, pastor of the Raceville United Methodist Church, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven, Vt.

William L. Pawlusiak rites

WEST RUTLAND — The funeral Mass for William L. Pawlusiak, 76, who died May 12, 2001, was held Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with the Rev. Frank S. Warzocha, pastor, officiating. Concelebrants were the Rev. John Herbert, interim pastor of St. Bridget’s Church, the Rev. Adam Krempa, pastor of St. Raphael’s Church in Poultney, and the Rev. William Laliberte. Burial followed in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Ministers of the altar were Joseph F. Czachor and Leo Haick.

Organist was Dorothy Blicharz.

Reader was Joseph F. Czachor.

Bearers were Francis Pawlusiak and Thomas Pawlusiak, both of Ira, John Pawlusiak of Burlington, Michael Chmielewski of Colechester, Joseph Przybylo of Rutland and Edward Przybylo of South Glens Falls, N.Y.

Honorary bearers were 4th degree members of Knights of Columbus Council 232.

A prayer service was held Monday at the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Warzocha.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland.

Roger C. Lee rites

BRANDON — The private graveside committal service and burial for Roger Carl Lee, 57, who died March 21, 2001, was held Tuesday in Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell with the Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon, officiating.

Pallbearers were Craig Lee, Mark Lee, Mike Lee, Scott Lee, Ron Euber and Gary Stanley.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

David A. Matter

WILMINGTON — David Allen Matter, 43, died May 13, 2001, at Samuel Safford Manor Community Care Home in Bennington after a long illness.

He was born June 21, 1957, in Buffalo, N.Y., son of Allen and Charmaine (Fischer) Matter.

The family moved to Hartford, Conn., where he received his education.

Mr. Matter was an account administrator for the Marsh and McLennan Co. in Hartford, Conn.

Survivors include his paternal grandmother, May Matter of Sedona, Ariz.; two brothers, Geoffrey Matter of Hopkinton, Mass., and Tracy Matter of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Deborah Butler of Killingworth, Conn.; an aunt and uncle; two nieces and two nephews; and four cousins.

He was predeceased by his life companion, Tony Simone.

The service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Turn-of-the-River Presbyterian Church in Stamford, Conn., with the Rev. Timothy Olesky, pastor, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation took place at the Vermont Cremation Service in Bennington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the AIDS Program of Southern Vermont, in care of Covey & Allen Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, 05363.

Howell D. Chickering

WOODSTOCK — Howell Drescher Chickering, 88, died May 15, 2001, at Alice Peck Day Hospital.

The memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.

Doris O. Dorman

EAST POWNAL — Doris O. Dorman, 90, died May 15, 2001, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center after a long illness.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Theresa I. Vincent

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Theresa I. (Lemieux)Vincent, 80, died May 14, 2001, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester after a sudden illness.

She was born Oct. 12, 1920, in St. Malo, Quebec, Canada, daughter of Emery and Hedwidge (Hebert) Lemieux.

She lived many years in the towns of Springfield, Chester and Brandon, Vt.

Mrs. Vincent and her husband owned and operated the Vincent Farm in the Arnold district of Brandon, Vt. She has lived in Manchester since 1967. She worked at Felton Brush Co. in Manchester for several years.

She was a member of Les Coeurs Joyeux and the Sweeney Post Auxiliary and was a communicant of St. Catherine Church, all in Manchester.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Albert D. Vincent of Manchester; a son, Donald R. Vincent of Arlington, Vt.; two daughters, Jeannette Kennedy of Fitchburg, Mass., and Diane Cross of Manchester; two sisters, Alice Fauteux and Gabrielle Sage, both of Manchester; a brother, Louis Lemieux of Coaticook, Quebec, Canada; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Goffstown Road, Manchester.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester.
