KEITH A. MORGAN

GEORGIA - Keith A. Morgan, 66, died Thursday evening, Nov. 1, 2001, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, with his family by his side.

Keith was born in Colchester on Nov. 8, 1934, the son of Paul and Ethel (Turner) Morgan.

Keith used to joke that he was voted first in his high school class, most likely to succeed and as the best looking male. He graduated from a class of three students.

On Nov. 20, 1952, he married the former Lillian Ausburger in the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church at Village Hill in Lebanon, Conn.

Keith was a avid hunter, with Lil joking that sometimes they though "Hunting" was his middle name. He hunted throughout much of the U.S.

Keith had worked as a machinist and tool maker for General Dynamics and Martin Marietta in Burlington. He retired in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Georgia; his children Bruce Morgan and his wife Barbara of Morrison, Colo., Scott Morgan and his wife Stacy of York Town, Va., Cindy Gregoire and her husband Mark of Fairfax, and Tracy Morgan of Georgia; by his grandchildren, Tristyn, Kendalynn. Thomas, Jeffrey, Silas, Issac, Brendon, Jessica, Abby, and Taylor; by his mother Ethel Morgan of Milton; his brothers Ronald of Milton, Calvin of Fairfax, Paul and Leland of Milton; and his sister Joann Nichols of Enosburg. He is also survived by a special brother and sister-in-law Otto and Patricia Ausburger of Conn.; and a former son-in-law Steven Putnam of St. Albans, and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Paul and his brother Howard.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home with the Pastor Jefrey Jenson of the Community Lutheran Church of South Burlington. Burial followed in the Hope Cemetery in Georgia.

Contributions may be made in Keith's memory to either the American Cancer Society, 11 Loomis St., Montpelier, Vt. 05602-3021 or to the Community Lutheran Church, 1560 Williston, South Burlington, Vt. 05403. Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

SYLVESTER EMERY "JAKE" MENARD

SWANTON - Sylvester Emery "Jake" Menard, 77, a lifelong resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in the Northwestern Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Highgate on June 5, 1924, the son of the late Lucien Henry Menard and Delina Mae (Greenia) Menard.

Sylvester was employed by the Central Vermont Railroad, The Rixford Ax Factory, Missisquoi Pulp and Paper Mill, and retired from A.G. Anderson Concrete Company in 1975. He enjoyed fishing, his daily rides about the county with his wife, and working with his son in his wood lot. He was always looking to do things for his family to help them out. He took great joy in his great-grandchildren.

Jake is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gertrude Edna (Sartwell) Menard and their children, Bruce Menard and his wife Linda of Swanton, Joyce Feeley and her special friend Michael Freeman of Florida, and Sheila Brown and her special friend, Harold Foster of St. Albans. He is also survived by one brother, Lucien Menard Jr., and his wife Hildred of Highgate; seven grandchildren, Dwayne Feeley, James Feeley, Steven Feeley, Heather Moreau, Matthew Brown, Trudy Menard, and Kristy Menard; seven great-grandchildren, James Feeley Jr., Heather Feeley, Harley Feeley, Katelynn Moreau, Ryan Brown, Corey Brown, and Tristan Menard as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A sister, Ada Beyor predeceased him in 1998.

He was a loving and devoted husband and father who will be deeply missed.

The Menard Family has requested that there be no public calling hours. A funeral service for family and friends will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father John J. Meagher, SSE, pastor of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton and St. Louis Roman Catholic Parish in Highgate Center will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in Highgate Center. Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, 05478.

DONALD R. GUAY

SEMINOLE, Fla. - Donald Guay, 77, of Seminole, Fla. died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Largo Medical Center. Born in St. Albans in 1924, he moved to Florida in 1994 from Dunstable, Mass. He was a firefighter in Lowell, Mass. He was Roman Catholic and was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3291 in East Pepperell, Mass. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lena, a daughter, Sylvia A Chaney of Geneseo, Ill.; a sister, Florence Bachand of Burlington Vt.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home and Cemetery of Seminole is in charge of arrangements.

YVONNE NOLAN

ST. ALBANS - Yvonne Nolan, 78, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at Roncalli Health Center. She was born in St. Albans Aug. 13, 1923, the daughter of the late Arthur and Delphine (Russell) Nolan.

Yvonne was a member of the former Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church at St. Albans Bay. She loved to play Bingo.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Jeanette Nolan of Highgate, a nephew and niece who cared for her needs, Wayne Nolan of St. Albans Bay and Rose Marie Lebel of Sheldon, a nephew, Dennis Nolan of Highgate and other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Baillargeon and Mildred Nolan and three brothers, Ernest Nolan, Fred Nolan, and Raymond Nolan.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Maurice Roy, pastor of Holy Angels Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

GEORGE HEBERT

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. George E. Hebert, age 89, affectionately known as "Min, " died Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2001, in the Holiday House Nursing Home where he had resided for the past month.

He was born in St. Albans, March 4, 1912, son of the late Peter U. and Bertha A. (Lapointe) Hebert. He attended Holy Angels School and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy. He was employed as a St. Albans City Police officer in 1935 and became Chief of the St. Albans Police Department in 1942. He served as police chief for 37 years and during that time served as president of the Vermont Police Chiefs Association and president of the New England Police Chiefs Association.

He retired in 1975, but continued his real avocations of being a master carpenter and licensed electrician. He enjoyed fixing and creating many different projects, including building his own home in 1939. Chief Hebert was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #297, B. P. O. E., Elks Lodge #1566, The Owl Club and The Fraternal Order of Eagles. Min was a lifelong communicant of Holy Angels Church.

Oct. 14, 1940, he married Mary A. Rinaldi, in St. Mary's Church. Besides his wife of over 61 years, he is survived by his sons Dr. David P. Hebert and his wife Diane of Torrington, Conn., and Richard C. Hebert and his fiancee Terri Cadieux of Highgate; grandchildren Kara Shorey and her husband Dennis of St. Albans, Melissa Hebert and Elizabeth Hebert, both of Torrington, Conn.; a great-granddaughter Kayleigh Shorey of St. Albans; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter Amy Lynn Hebert in 1980, his brother Armand Hebert in 1989 and his sister Rita Hendricks in 2000.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at 10 a.m., in Holy Angels Church. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in the Hebert family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of his family. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Lyceum Fund of Holiday House, 642 Sheldon Road, St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

VIRGINIA EMMAROSE BONOR STANHOPE

MANOR, Ga. / BAKERSFIELD -- Mrs. Virginia Emmarose Bonor Stanhope, 68, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, Ga. after a lengthy illness.

She was a native of Bakersfield before moving to Waycross 15 years ago, but she has resided in Manor for the past seven years. She was a homemaker. She was of a Baptist faith. She was the daughter of the late Clyde Bonor and Jeanette Noel Bonor and was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Stanhope and a brother, Raymond Bonor.

Survivors include her husband, George T. Stanhope of Manor, Ga.; six daughters, Jeanette Elwood of East Burke, Virginia Failing and Tammy Baisley, both of Richford, Linda Stanhope of Manor, Ga., Debbie Tolley of Homerville and Penny Minchew of Argyle, Ga.; six sons, Michael Bove of Waterbury, George T. Stanhope, III, Robert Stanhope, and Donald Stanhope, all of Richford, Alfred Stanhope of East Burke, and David Stanhope of Enosburg; a sister, Pearl Schwartz of Fla.; a brother, Frank Noel of Fla.; 47 grandchildren; and 66 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the residence in Manor.

The family will be receiving friends at the residence Friday evening, Jan. 4, from 6-8 p.m.

ADAM S. MICHALEK

NORTH CANAAN, Conn. -- Adam S. Michalek of North Canaan, died of a heart attack Tuesday, Dec. 18, at home. He was the widower of Louis (Allyn) Michalek.

Mr. Michalek was born Sept. 11, 1926, in New Milford. He served in the Navy during World War II, honorably discharged in 1946, and received the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, European Theater Medal with one star, and Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal.

He worked with Louis E. Allyn and Sons Well Drilling, Inc. for 25 years and then at Allyndale Limestone, Inc., for 27 years.

Mr. Michalek was a baseball player and lettered in football at the University of Maine, a member of the Norfolk Ski Jumping team and the first athlete interview on "The Bob Steele Show, " on WTIC 1080 AM in Hartford.

He was an avid golfer and had won no less than 17 Canaan Country Club championships, and had two holes-in-one. He also won numerous golf tournaments and the most recent was the 1999 ADDCO tournament in Westport.

He spent his winters for 26 years at Jensen Beach, Fla., moving in the last four years to New Port Richey, Fla. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, North Canaan, and received a certificate of appreciation for 50 years of service in the Berkshire Council.

He leaves a son, Allyn Michalek of New Canaan; three daughters, Sally Green of East Canaan, Margaret Sharpley of North Canaan, and Amanda Lakatos of Sommerset, N.J.; two brothers, Ted Michalek of Lynnfield, Mass., and Frank Michalek of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Julie Emmons of North Canaan and Marion Schibi of St. Albans, Vt.; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral was held from Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home, 118 Main St., North Canaan, to St. Joseph's Church, Main St. and St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours were held at the funeral home.

MARIE EVA ESTELLE BAKER McCAMMON

ST. ALBANS -- Marie Eva Estelle Baker McCammon, age 77, passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2001, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans after struggling several years with cancer.

She was born April 28, 1924, in Montgomery Center, the daughter of the late Anthime "Jigger" and Florence (Potvin) Lamore.

Estelle attended Montgomery Center School and lived there until 1973. She married Gordon "Gudgin" Baker on Dec. 9, 1953. He predeceased her Dec. 16, 1967. Estelle and Gordon had a child, Brent Lee Baker on April 26, 1954. On March 8, 1973, she married Harold G. "Whitey" McCammon in Richford and moved to Wyoming. Whitey died on Feb. 22, 1977. She spent several years living with her sister-in-law, Lou Ogden in California before visiting her sisters in Alabama and Connecticut. She then returned to the area, making her home with her sister Lorenza Sargent, who predeceased her March 30, 2001.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Brent and Laurie Baker of St. Albans with whom Estelle made her home ; her only grandchild, who was Estelle's whole life, Ethan Lee Baker of St. Albans; two sisters, Pauline Meadows of Athens, Al. and Lorraine Despres of Suffield, Conn.; two brothers, Aime Lamore of Richmond, and Romeo Lamore and his wife Theresa of Montgomery Center; her large extended family, which includes two step-daughters, B. Jean Baker and her husband Kenneth of Murphy, N.C., and Carol F. Raine and her husband Leo of St. Albans; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, including Linda and Amy Bartlett of St. Albans.

Besides her husbands, she was predeceased by her brothers, Lionel, Leo Paul, and Gene Lamore; her sister, Lorenza Sargent; step-daughter Helen G. Gilbar and Helen's three children, Mark, Dale, and Candy. The family wishes to thank Dr. Christian Thomas, Norma Thibault, Connie Lane and Theresa Bolt for their care and friendship.

At her request, Estelle will be cremated and laid to rest next spring in the Baker Family lot in the Montgomery Village Cemetery. There will be no memorial service or calling hours.

For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the Vermont Cancer Center at the University of Vermont, Health Science Research Facility, 149 Beaumont Ave., Burlington, Vt. 05405-0075.

Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls is in charge of arrangements.
