GENEVA F. JEWETT

BERKSHIRE CENTER -- Mrs. Geneva F. Jewett passed to her lord Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, surrounded by her husband and all her children after a brief illness at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Belvidere, Dec. 3, 1918, the daughter of the late Elijah and Katie (Eldred) Johnson.

Geneva married Arlin Jewett in 1943, and made her home in Berkshire Center most of her life where she was a homemaker, farmer and school hot lunch cook and agent, which she started at home in the earlier years and then onto the Berkshire Elementary School, retiring in 1979. She was active in community affairs, the Dorcas Society and was a member of the Berkshire Center Congregational Church.

She leaves her husband, Arlin O. Jewett of Berkshire Center; her children, and their spouses, Richard and Audrey Jewett of St. Albans, James and Theresa Jewett of Jay, Marilyn and Ed Gelinas of Grand Isle, and Linda and Jim Foster of Seattle, Wash.; as well as her 10 loving grandchildren, Beth Machia, Travis Jewett, Andrea Jewett, Jessica Jewett, Katie Gelinas, Ora Menees, Brom Menees, Sara Gelinas, F.J. Gelinas and Margaret Gelinas.

Geneva was the eldest of seven children. She is survived by one brother, Willard Johnson of St. Albans; two sisters, Millie Sumner of Richford and Shelba Austin of St. Albans. She was predeceased by one brother, Wallace "Pete" Johnson; and two sisters, Blanche "Anna Jean" Mitchell and Bertha Longley.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at the Berkshire Center Congregational Church. Interment will be next spring in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening from 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home on 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls.

For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the Dorcas Society of Berkshire, C/O Joyce Weld, 2567 Reservoir Rd., Enosburg Falls, Vt. 05450.

The family would like to thank Holiday House Nursing Home and Northwestern Medical Center for the kind and loving care given to Geneva.

MARGARET TUDHOPE ROBINSON

SOUTH HERO -- Margaret Tudhope Robinson, 94, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at the Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Burlington.

Margaret was born on May 2, 1907 in Grand Isle, the daughter of Wilmore and Clara (Pearl) Tudhope. She was a graduate of the U.V.M. Class of 1927, with a degree in Home Economics.

On Oct. 16, 1928, she married George Robinson in Grand Isle. George predeceased her in 1983. Margaret was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Island Chapter 73, and of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

She is survived by her sons Arthur Robinson and his wife Frances of South Hero, John Robinson of Williamstown, Mass., Henry "Hank" Robinson and his wife Patricia of South Hero; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Tudhope and sister, Marcia Dodge.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at the South Hero Cemetery. At Margaret's request, there will be no visiting hours. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

DONALD R. TRUSHAW

LIVERPOOL, N.Y./SWANTON, Vt. - Mr. Donald R. Trushaw, 78, a resident of the Liverpool, N.Y. area for about 20 years and presently of Spring Street in Swanton Village died Dec. 20, 2001, in the East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills, Fla.

He was born in North Bangor, N.Y., July 4, 1923, the son of the late, Fred and Ethel (Goyea) Trushaw. He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Malone, N.Y. with the Class of 1940. On June 8, 1974 in Saranac Lake, N.Y., he married the former Therese Bernier who survives him.

He was associated with Petrolane LP Gas Company and more recently with Pyrofax Gas Company both in Mexico, New York, and retired as a regional manager in Lake Clear, N.Y. with over 30 years of service. In his earlier years, he had worked as a telegraph operator for the New York Central Railroad. While living in New York he had served as a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Holy Name Society, both associated with St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Parish in Malone, N.Y.

Mr. Trushaw will always be remembered as an exceptional craftsman enjoying many years of woodworking. He also enjoyed an immense love for being with his family.

In addition to his wife, Therese, of Swanton, he leaves his daughter, Gayle and her husband, Stephen Bero, of Liverpool, N.Y.; and his son, Stephen Trushaw and his wife, Barbara, of Swanton. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Maria, Angela, Delores and Michael Bero and Kyle and Ellen Trushaw; one brother, Clarence "Sam" Trushaw, of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; as well as three nieces, one nephew and several cousins. He also leaves his poodle "Ginger, " his long time companion.

A Eucharistic Memorial Service will be celebrated, Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at 2 p.m. from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 38 Grand Ave., Swanton. The pastor, The Reverend Marsha Hoecker, will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Gifts in Mr. Trushaw's memory may be made to the Missisquoi Valley Rescue, PO Box 22, Swanton, Vt. 05488 or Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vt., 05478.

CLIFFORD E. ALSDORF

ISLE LAMOTTE - Clifford E. Alsdorf, 63, a resident of the Isle La Motte community, died late Saturday evening, Dec. 22, 2001, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Clifford was born in Gardner, N.Y., Dec. 14, 1938, the son of the late Clifford and Alice (Conkinn) Alsdorf. He attended Gardner schools and graduated from high school with a Technical Degree.

For 25 years, Clifford was associated with the F.W. Woolworth Corp. He faithfully served his country as a private in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton.

In addition to his wife, Rose Spring-Alsdorf, Clifford leaves two sons, Chris Alsdorf and his wife, Joyce, of Princeton, Mass., Charles Spring of Isle La Motte; and three daughters Susan Blessington of Gardner, Mass., Judy Petkewich and her husband, Robert, of Westminster, Mass. and Sarah Spring of Isle La Motte; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a sister, Maureen Terwilliger of New York.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Kidder Memorial Home, Swanton. The Reverend Deborah Laporte, pastor of the Old Stone Church in Isle La Motte will officiate. Family and friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, Dec. 28, from 9 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Gifts in Clifford memory may be made to either the Isle La Motte Fire Department, PO Box 125, Isle La Motte, Vt., 05463 or the Alburg Rescue Department, PO Box 223, Alburg, Vt. 05440.

LINDA J. HOLDEN

NEWFANE -- Linda J. Holden, 53, of 662 Route 30, Newfane, died Tuesday evening from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 30 in West Dummerston.

She was born Nov. 2, 1948 in Enosburg, the daughter of Herbert and June (Britch) Rushford, Sr.

She attended Enosburg schools and graduated from Enosburg High School, class of 1966. She was a former resident of Enosburg, Brattleboro and Townshend and had made her home in Newfane for the past seven years. She was formerly employed at the Brattleboro Retreat and was currently employed as a caregiver at the Heins Home in Townshend.

Her favorite pastimes included computing, crafting and gardening. She was first married to John Jutras.

On Dec. 13, 1980, she married Kenneth L. Holden, who survives. Besides her husband of Newfane, she leaves a son, Shawn E. Holden of Brattleboro; two daughters, Stephanie Lumpkins of Aurora, Colo., and Natasha L. Holden of Brattleboro; her mother, June Rushford of Enosburg; her brother, Herbert Rushford, Jr. of Swanton; two sisters, Sandra Desreuisseau of Athol, Mass., and Elaine Callan of Fairfield; one grandchild, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. One sister, Joyce Rushford, is deceased.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. at Max E. Carr Funeral Home, 147 Western Ave., Brattleboro. Burial will be in the spring in Locust Ridge Cemetery in Brattleboro. There are no calling hours at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Mrs. Holden's memory to the Activities Fund at Heins Home, Townshend, Vt. 05353.

WAYNE A. CROWN

GEORGIA/FAIRFAX -- Wayne Crown of Highbridge Road, passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 23, 2001, after a short illness. He was born on Jan. 3, 1947 in St. Johnsbury, son of Merle and Minnie (Balch) Crown.

He graduated from Vergennes High School. While there, he was an accomplished trombone player, having joined the band in the fifth grade and playing through high school. He played in the marching band at school.

Following high school, he went to University of Vermont, and while there he was involved with the sports program. For two to three years, he excelled as a cross-country athlete. Wayne was always interested in abstract art works. He was always working on a painting. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Merle and Minnie Crown; a son, Erik Heath of Burlington; a brother, William Crown and wife, Robin, of Needham, Mass.; a sister, Merlene Bolio and husband, Raymond, of Wolcott. He was predeceased by a sister, Diana Crown, in 1948. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home at 1 p.m., with interment following at Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes. Memorial contributions may be made in Wayne's memory to: Franklin-Grand Isle Mental Services, Inc., 8 Ferris St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Arrangements are by the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax.

STANLEY R. AVERILL

ENGLEWOOD, Fla./ST. ALBANS BAY, Vt. - Stanley Raymond Averill, 83, of Englewood, Fla. and St. Albans Bay, Vt., died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 at his Florida residence.

Born on Sept. 14, 1918 in Manhattan, N.Y., the son of Porter and Beatrice (Kent) Averill, he was raised in Elizabeth, N.J. He attended Drew University and Army's Air Corps Cadet program at Yale University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as an aviation engineering officer in the 8th Division in Italy and Trinidad. He attended and graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Averill had come to Englewood in 1988. He retired as a mechanical engineer of machine design. He was employed by Fonda Container Company in St. Albans. Later he worked throughout New England as a consulting engineer.

He was a member of the Inventors Club of Vermont and the Owl Club of St. Albans.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marguerite Averill; two daughters, Dale Robinson and Laurie Averill; one son, Michael Averill; two sisters, Dorothy Miller and H. Jane Frymoyer; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A private memorial service will be held in Vermont.

Englewood Community Funeral Home has been selected to handle arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Albans Free Library, 11 Maiden Lane, St. Albans, VT 05478 in memory of Mr. Averill.

ROBERT C. RUSSELL

RICHFORD -- Robert C. Russell, age 22, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, in St. Albans.

He was born Sept. 25, 1979 in Harris County, Texas, the son of Barbara Russell and Jose Cruz.

He was a resident of the area and employed at Abair Roofing since 1996. He loved his children and Kimberly more than life itself. He was a hard worker and was always willing to help anyone.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kimberly Bradbury of Richford; two children, Allyssa and Breanna Russell of Richford; one brother, James Russell of Albany; maternal grandmother, Margo Russell of Albany; maternal grandfather, Richard Humphreys of Fullman, AL; mother-in-law and her husband, Marie and Clayton Abair of West Berkshire; father-in-law, Perry Bradbury of Barnard; two brothers-in-law, Travis Walker and Christopher "Little Buddy" Abair, both of West Berkshire.

Friends and relatives may call on the family one hour prior to the funeral, which will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., in Enosburg Falls.
