Mrs. Dorothy Marie Kenny

HAMPTON, N.Y. — Mrs. Dorothy Marie Kenny, 89, died Saturday evening, Sept. 14, 2002, at her son’s home in Hampton, N.Y., after a long illness.

Mrs. Kenny was born on Dec. 17, 1912, in Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of the late James and Bridgett (O’Brien) Gerrity. Dorothy was educated in New York and married her husband, Mr. Francis T. “Frank” Kenny in Bronx, N.Y., on Feb. 22, 1938. Mr. Kenny predeceased his wife on May 21, 2001.

The couple made their home and raised their family in Bronx, N.Y., for many years and eventually purchased a home in Hampton in 1969 where they spent as much free time as possible until they both retired, permanently moving to Hampton in 1980.

Dorothy found great pleasure in her life caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a lover of animals, especially her dogs, which gave her much comfort during her final years.

Mrs. Kenny is survived by her loving family: her two sons, Mr. Brian Kenny and his wife, Margaret, of Hubbardton, Vt., and Mr. Barry J. Kenny and his wife, Angela, of Long Island and Hampton, N.Y.; her five grandchildren, Kelly Lazkani, Brian Kenny, Tara Hurley, Barry Kenny II, and Erin Fizzuoglio; her nine great-grandchildren; and also by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Washington Street, Fair Haven, Vt. The Rev. Richard W. Tinney, parish priest, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s cemetery in Fair Haven.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

William J. Mylott

William “Bill” Mylott, 42, of Rutland died Friday afternoon at Rutland Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle of cancer.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 15, 1960, the son of Howard and Lorraine Mylott.

Mr. Mylott was a graduate of Nanuet High School in Rockland County, N.Y.

He was employed by Pratico’s Landscaping and later by Adelphia Cable.

Mr. Mylott was a member of Christ the King Church. As a loving father, he took great joy in sharing activities with his two daughters. He also enjoyed golf and skiing.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Karin (Maher) Mylott of Rutland; his mother, Lorraine Mylott of Old Bridge, N.J.; his father, Howard Mylott of Vacaville, Calif.; two daughters, Kaitie Mylott and Linnea Mylott, both of Rutland; two brothers, Marty Mylott of Basalt, Colo., and Jim Mylott of Old Bridge, N.J.; two sisters, Barbara Monsees of Schoharie, N.Y., and Joan Thomas of Satellite Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Rutland.

A gathering of family and friends will follow at the South Station in Rutland to celebrate his life.

Bill was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and, above all, friend, who will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched so deeply.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Cancer Center at RRMC, 160 Allen St., Rutland, VT 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Viletta W. Terrill

Viletta W. Terrill, 94, of Rutland died Sept. 15, 2002, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are pending with Tossing Funeral Home.

Robert E. Soulia Sr.

EAST HAVEN — Robert E. Soulia Sr., 61, died Sept. 13, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born June 9, 1941, in Rutland, the son of Norbert and Bernice (Fournier) Soulia.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and VFW Post 10038 in Lyndonville. He was a volunteer driver for the DAV.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include his wife, Jane, of East Haven; five children, Christine A. Hayes of Orlando, Fla., Robert E. Soulia Jr. of McIndoe Falls, Denise S. Geraghty of Manasquan, N.J., Paul A. Soulia of Woodbury, Minn., and Jamie A. Soulia of Burlington; two brothers, Norbert of Pittsford and Harley of Chittenden; two sisters, Betty Lou Bartholomew of Rutland and Judy Bedore of Fairfax; and three grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Lyndonville with the Rev. Stephen Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodmont cemetery.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Guibord Funeral Home in Lyndonville.

Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 10038 at 156 Hill St., Lyndonville, 05851.

Jeffrey P. Russell Rites

PROCTOR — A private family service for Jeffrey Philip Russell, 41, of Castleton, who died Aug. 23, 2002, was held Saturday at the Riverside cemetery in Proctor.

BENNINGTON — A. Scott Leake, 57, a former longtime resident of Bennington, died Sept. 13, 2002, at his home on Turnpike Road in Cambridge, N.Y., following a nine-year struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

He was born in Bennington on May 5, 1944, the son of Richard B. Leake III and Virginia (Jean) Campbell. He received his early education in Bennington schools, later attending Darrow School in New Lebanon, N.Y., to complete high school in 1962.

He continued his studies at the University of Vermont and received a degree in agriculture.

He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972 and attained the rank of captain.

He returned to work on the family farm, Mountain Meadows Farm, and became a partner with his father, eventually taking over as owner of the farm until his retirement. Mr. Leake was a member of the Farm Bureau for more than 20 years, a member of EAIC, AgriMark and the Soil Conservation Service.

He was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bennington.

He enjoyed skiing and had been captain of the UVM Nordic Ski Team while in college. He enjoyed running and had run for 20 years in the Bennington Road Race. He had participated in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., which benefits ALS research. A regular blood donor, he had donated more than 30 gallons prior to his illness.

The A. Scott Leake ’62 Scholarship Fund has been recently established at the Darrow School in his honor.

Mr. Leake was first married to Nancy McIntosh. She died in 1995. He later married Wendy Hoffmeister in Cambridge on Nov. 21, 1998.

Survivors include his wife of Cambridge; his father and stepmother, Richard and Margaret Leake of Williamstown, Mass.; three sons, Bryan Leake, Jeffrey Leake and Michael Leake, all of Bennington; a daughter, Jill Leake of Bennington; three brothers, Paul Leake of Mill Valley, Calif., David Leake of Guilford, Conn., and Alan Leake of Bennington; a sister, Elvy Draft of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren; and aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bennington.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation, Bennington Area Hospice, or the A. Scott Leake ’62 Scholarship Fund in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, 05201.

Louise E. Foley

BELLOWS FALLS — Louise E. Foley, 69, died at her home Sept. 15, 2002.

She was born in Manhattan, N.Y., the daughter of Vincenz and Rosa (Keissler) Zoller.

Mrs. Foley was a graduate of St. Luke’s in the Bronx, N.Y., and before her marriage worked for Bell Telephone as a telephone operator.

She married Kenneth Foley on Oct. 11, 1951, at St. Luke’s in the Bronx, N.Y.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening and supporting the humane society.

She is survived by her husband of Bellows Falls; a son, Vincent Foley of Charlotte, N.C., a daughter, Patricia Zubini of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; and a sister, Hilda Pfaffenberger of Pelham, N.Y.

The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Springfield Humane Society, Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, 05156.

Chandler M. Hewitt

NORTH POMFRET — Chandler Miller Hewitt, 82, died at his home in North Pomfret on Sept. 14, 2002.

Arrangements are pending with the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.

Lois L. Horn

WOODSTOCK — Lois Larcom Horn, 95, formerly of Woodstock, died at Genesis Elder Care in Lebanon, N.H., early Sunday morning.

Arrangements are pending with the Cabot Funeral Home.

Doyle E. Frost

MANCHESTER — Doyle E. Frost, 65, a lifelong resident of Manchester, died Sept. 14, 2002, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a battle with cancer.

He was born in Manchester Aug. 10, 1937, the son of Irving and Anna (Stroffoleno) Frost. He attended Arlington High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years.

He married Sandra Parker on April 5, 1958.

Mr. Doyle worked for R.K. Miles for 25 years. He also owned and operated Doyle’s Trucking for 35 years. He was also a caretaker.

He was a member of the Manchester VFW and the Eagles Club.

He was an avid golfer and cribbage player.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother of East Arlington; two daughters, Kim Frost of Ocean Beach, N.Y., and Kathi Bierwirth of Sunderland; three brothers, his twin, Donald Frost of Manchester, David Frost of Danby and John Frost of Shushan, N.Y.; a sister, Donna Stoothoff of East Sound, Wash.; a granddaughter; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a half-brother, Irving Frost.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester, followed by a graveside service of committal in Ira Allen cemetery in Sunderland. The Rev. Joan O’Gorman, pastor of the Federated Church in East Arlington, will officiate. Following the services, a reception will be held at the Manchester VFW.

Private calling hours were held Saturday night.

Blanche Tarro

SPRINGFIELD — Blanche Tarro, 90, died at her home Sept. 14, 2002.

She was born Aug. 6, 1912, in Claremont, N.H., the daughter of Frank and Mary (Szaluzka) Zerba. She attended schools in Claremont.

She married Adam J. Tarro in June of 1930 in Claremont, N.H. He died in 1968.

She was a longtime resident of Springfield and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Ingalls of Springfield, Patricia Bujnowski of West Wardsboro and Sharon Gisquet of Bondville; four sisters, Leana Fontaine of Claremont, N.H., Millie Grethe of Claremont, N.H., Nelle Keegan of Bedford, N.Y., and Deye Karpobich of Kapau, Hawaii; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by three brothers, John Zerba, Stanley Zerba and Benjamin Zerba; and by three sisters, Vickie Dietrich, Florence Zerba and Katherine Kahoe.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield. The Rev. Shawn Therrien will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s cemetery in Springfield.

Friends may call Tuesday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 366 River St., Springfield, 05156, or to the Council on Aging, 56 Main St., Springfield, 05156.

The Davis Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille Porter

SPRINGFIELD — A graveside service for Lucille Porter, 87, who died July 31, 2002, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s cemetery in Springfield. The Rev. Christopher Chukwu will officiate.

The Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
