Gordon R. Osborn

EAST SHOREHAM - Gordon Richmond Osborn, 87, a former resident of Herrin, Ill., died Jan. 27, 2003, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Ill.

He was born Nov. 20, 1915, in Richford, Vt., the son of Raymond and Maud (Bissell) Osborn.

He married Mary Lance on Dec. 26, 1946, in Vergennes.

Mr. Osborn was a director of food services for the ARA Services in Kankakee, Ill.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in India and Burma.

He was a member the First Presbyterian Church in Herrin, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim Osborn of Carterville, Ill., and Randy Osborn of Carbondale, Ill.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

The graveside service will take place at a later date in East Shoreham cemetery.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Camp of Little Giant at SIU-C Touch of Nature, in support of people with disabilities, P.O. Box 429, Herrin, Ill., 62948.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Dorothy Lawson

WALLINGFORD — The memorial service for Dorothy Lawson, 81, who died Jan. 25, 2003, will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Wallingford. Burial will take place at a later date in Newport Center cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wallingford Congregational Church, South Main Street, Wallingford.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wallingford Aldous Funeral Home.

James F. DeLong Rites

PITTSFORD — The funeral service for James F. DeLong, 52, who died Jan. 29, 2003, was held Friday at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford with the Rev. Andre Houle, pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rutland, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Riverside cemetery in Killington.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.

Gertrude S. Gulick

SPRINGFIELD — Gertrude S. Gulick, 94, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Cedar Hill Health Care Center in Windsor.

She was born April 4, 1908, in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Henry and Amy (Lewis) Spelman.

She graduated from the Buckingham School in 1926 and later attended the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts and the Yale School of Drama.

She married Charles Gulick Jr. on April 8, 1933, in Cambridge, Mass.

Mrs. Gulick worked as a nurse’s aide at Springfield Hospital for many years. She was also an accomplished artist and worked out of her home.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the Miller Art and Historical Society, the Southern Vermont Artist Association, and the Historical Society of Early American Decorations. She also was a volunteer at the Springfield Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Gulick of Springfield and Robert Gulick of Lexington, Mass.; two granddaughters; and a niece and a nephew.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1998; a brother, Henry Spelman; and a sister, Dorothy Spelman.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. at Cedar Hill Health Care Center in Windsor. Another memorial service will take place at a later date at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Springfield. A private burial will take place in Mount Auburn cemetery in Cambridge, Mass.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Art and Historical Society, Elm Hill, Springfield, 05156, or the Cedar Hill Health Care Activities Fund, Cedar Hill Drive, Windsor, 05089.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.

Elizabeth Champine

BENNINGTON — Elizabeth Champine, 95, died Jan. 29, 2003, at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.

She was born Aug. 18, 1907, in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., the daughter of Anthony and Louise (Bennett) Leader.

She received her education in North Adams, Mass.

She married Arnold Champine on Aug. 7, 1930, in North Adams. He died in 1966.

Mrs. Champine was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Sausville of Bennington; three grandsons and a great-grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Katherine Boettcher and Edith Gattuso; and two brothers, Martin Leader and John Leader.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bennington Area Home Health Agency, through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, 05201.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Kenneth B. McKeighan Sr.

RUPERT — Kenneth B. McKeighan Sr., 90, died Jan. 31, 2003, at Hallmark Nursing Center in North Granville, N.Y.

He was born Oct. 20, 1912, in Rupert, the son of Daniel and Daisey (Bentley) McKeighan.

He graduated from Granville (N.Y.) High School.

Mr. McKeighan worked for a defense plant in Springfield during World War II. He later worked in the paper manufacturing industry for many years, the D&H Railroad, Lewis Brothers, Mudgett Mink Farm and retired from J.K. Adams in Dorset.

He was a member of the Congregational Church in Rupert. He was the justice of the peace, Rupert cemetery commissioner and the Democratic chairman for Rupert.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing the bagpipes.

Survivors include five daughters, Dr. Maureen Thompson of Cave Creek, Ariz., Sharon Knipes of Wells, Kathryn Krach and Kristine McKeighan, both of Salem, N.Y., and Tracey Wesley of North Hebron, N.Y.; two sons, Kenneth McKeighan Jr. of Granville, N.Y., and Michael McKeighan of Glens Falls, N.Y.; two sisters, Helen Thompson of Troy, N.Y., and Caroline Christensen of Salem, N.Y.; a brother, Austin McKeighan of West Rupert; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Miriam (Gough) McKeighan in 1996; two sisters, Ida Keys and Mary Beebe; and two brothers, William and Raymond McKeighan.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the West Rupert Church of Christ with the Rev. Paul Mychack, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Rupert cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the McClellan Funeral Home in Salem, N.Y.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Rupert Fire Department, Rupert, 05768.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McClellan Funeral Home.

Anne B. Fulper

BENNINGTON — Anne B. Fulper, 91, died Jan. 29, 2003, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Westport, Conn., the daughter of Martin and Anna Burke.

She received her education in Norwalk and Westport, Conn.

She married John Fulper on Oct. 3, 1931, in Carmel, N.Y. He died in 1995.

Mrs. Fulper retired from the Nabisco Corp. on Long Island, N.Y.

Survivors include two nephews, Barry Burke of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Lawrence Burke of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two nieces, Karen Roeder of Chesapeake, Va., and Elaine Schutte of Ormond Beach, Fla.

She was predeceased by a twin sister, Marguerite Burke; and four brothers, Martin Burke, Francis Burke, Thomas Burke and Joseph Burke.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Park Lawn cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad, through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, 05201.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Roger W. Kozyra Sr.

HINSDALE, N.H. —Roger William Kozyra Sr., 85, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Vernon Green Nursing Home.

He was born Jan. 22, 1918, in New York City, the son of Theodore and Mary (Kosiuk) Kozyra.

He married Valeda Rabideau on June 10, 1939, in Brattleboro, Vt. She died in 2002.

Mr. Kozyra worked at Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates in Brattleboro for many years and as a machinist for the Miniature Precision Bearings Co. in Keene for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He and his wife operated a farm in Brattleboro and were well-known throughout the tri-state area for their strawberries, blueberries and vegetables. He also picked apples for the Moore Orchards and Scott Farms.

He served in the U.S. National Guard for several years.

He was a former parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Brattleboro and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hinsdale.

Mr. Kozyra enjoyed farming and gardening, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed restoring his family homestead.

Survivors include a son, Roger Kozyra Jr. of Hinsdale; a daughter, Sandra Akeley of Hinsdale; a brother, Peter Kozyra of Newington, Conn.; a sister, Barbara Aust of Johnson, R.I., four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, John Kozyra; and a sister, Helen Cromack of Greenfield, Mass., in 2002.

A Catholic prayer service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home in Brattleboro, Vt., with the Rev. Francis McMahon of St. Michael’s Parish officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Hinsdale.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vernon Green Nursing Home, 61 Greenway Drive, Vernon, Vt., 05354, or American Parkinson Disease Association, Vermont Chapter, P.O. Box 788, Milton, Vt., 05468.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Atamaniuk Funeral Home in Brattleboro, Vt.

Charles W. Parker Rites

PROCTORSVILLE — A celebration of the life of Charles W. Parker, who died Jan. 25, 2003, was held Thursday at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Knapp, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Hillcrest cemetery in Proctorsville.

Organist was Delores Flack.

Margaret G. Lilley Rites

SPRINGFIELD — The funeral Mass for Margaret G. Lilley, 86, who died Jan. 28, 2003, was celebrated Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Springfield with the Rev. Raymond Fournier of St. Joseph’s Church in Chester officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in East Craftsbury cemetery.

Organist was Jay Chandler and cantor was Harry Smith.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
