Wayne R. Golec

SPRINGFIELD - Wayne R. Golec, 55, died Sept. 10, 2001, at Crater Lake National Park near Fort Klamath, Ore., while on vacation.

He was born Jan. 19, 1946, in Bellows Falls, the son of Albert and Edna (Royce) Golec.

He attended schools in North Walpole, N.H., and Bellows Falls.

Mr. Golec married Mary Ellen O'dette in 1968. He later married Donna Matulonis of Springfield in 1977.

He was employed at Bryant's in Springfield for 36 years.

He was a member of Union Local UE 218 and a union steward.

Mr. Golec enjoyed traveling across the country in his motor home and woodworking.

Survivors include a son, Brian of Peterborough, N.H.; his mother and sister, Kathy Golec, both of Drewsville, N.H.; three brothers, Albert Jr. "Buddy" of Drewsville, Jack of Springfield and Ron of Alstead, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Andrea Watkins of Perkinsville; a stepson, Stacey Buskey of White River Junction; many grandsons and a granddaughter; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be celebrated Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in North Walpole, N.H., with the Rev. Shawn Therein as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter's cemetery in Drewsville.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. one hour prior to the service at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 199 Union St., Springfield, 05156.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home Inc.

Rose A. Robinson

EAST DOVER - Rose Burnam Anthony Robinson, 101, died Sept. 16, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 3, 1900, in Willimantic, Conn., the daughter of Albert and Orie (Potter) Anthony.

She received her education in Connecticut.

She married Charles Robinson on Jan. 1, 1919. He died in 1977.

Mrs. Robinson had been employed as a bookkeeper for Wilton Supply Co. of Wilton, Conn., for several years, retiring in 1960. She and her husband moved to East Dover in 1961.

She was a member of the East Dover Baptist Church for many years and had been the church pianist. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid at the church and helped with many of their projects, including quilt making.

She enjoyed baking.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Robinson of East Dover; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence Anthony in 1972 and Ralph Anthony in 1991; and a great-grandson in 1994.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the East Dover Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Hansen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Mansfield Center cemetery in Mansfield, Conn.

Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Covey & Allen Funeral Home, 44 E. Main St., in Wilmington.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ladies Aid of the East Dover Baptist Church, in care of the Covey & Allen Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, Vt., 05363.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Covey & Allen Funeral Home.

Dorothy B. Fairman

SPRINGFIELD - Dorothy (Burton) Fairman, 98, died Sept. 16, 2001, at home.

She was born Dec. 15, 1902, in Ludlow, the daughter of Herman W. and Alice (Howe) Burton.

The family moved to Springfield in 1911.

She was educated in the schools of Ludlow, Weathersfield and Springfield, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1920.

She married Dwight B. Fairman of Vernon on Oct. 5, 1924. He died in 1980.

In her early days Mrs. Fairman worked as a bookkeeper for the Vermont Marble Co. in Philadelphia and Fellows Gear Shaper Co. in Springfield.

She had been a member of the Methodist Church, Society of Mayflower Descendants, Genealogical Society of Vermont, New England Historic Genealogical Society and the Vernon Historians. She was a family historian and genealogist and loved to write.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn F. Burns of Andover, Mass.; a son, Howard D. Fairman of Springfield; a brother, Herman W. Burton Jr. of Springfield; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Ludlow. Burial will follow in Pleasant View cemetery in Ludlow.

William C. Barr

MANCHESTER - William Chalmers Barr, 71, died Sept. 14, 2001, at home after a battle with cancer.

He was born March 7, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of William Chalmers and Agnes (McGaffin) Barr.

He received his early education in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn College in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in physics. He earned his master's degree in physics from Monmouth (N.J.) University in 1972.

Mr. Barr was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army Signal Corps engaged in research and development, retiring in 1992 after 40 years of service.

He was a member of the Newcomers Club in Manchester and the Dorset Players and a docent at Robert Todd Lincoln's Hildene. He also served as a Cub Scout leader.

He was an avid opera and classical music devotee, self-taught in the art of calligraphy and bookbinding, and enjoyed sailing.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jean Ryan Barr of Manchester; a son, Jeffrey N. Barr of Takoma Park, Md.; and a daughter, Jeanne Picone of Portland, Ore.

A celebration of Mr. Barr's life will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. on the terrace at Hildene.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Friends of Hildene Inc. or Manchester Health Services, in care of the Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, 05255.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewster Funeral Service.

Donald Whitney

ROCKINGHAM - Donald Whitney, 60, formerly of Randolph, died Sept. 16, 2001, at his home.

Arrangements are pending with the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Lorraine E. Bridges

SALISBURY - Lorraine Easton Bridges, 77, died Sept. 16, 2001.

She was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Shoreham, the daughter of Russell J. and Florence (Fish) Easton.

She graduated from Shoreham High School and attended Becker Junior College.

She married C. Cris Bridges in 1950.

Mrs. Bridges worked in various office positions.

She was an active member of the United Church of Lincoln.

Survivors include a son, M. David Bridges of Barnard; a daughter, Emily of Salisbury; two sisters, Jean McEdward and Kathleen Easton, both of Middlebury; several nieces and nephews; and two cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband; a sister, Pauline; and a brother, Glenn.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln United Church. A private burial and committal service will be held in Lakeview cemetery in Shoreham at the convenience of the family.

A reception will be held downstairs in the church after the funeral service.

Contributions may be made to the United Church of Lincoln Youth Ministry, 23 Quaker St., Lincoln, 05443.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service.

Gwendolyn A. Groop

PARK RIDGE, N.J. - Gwendolyn A. "Wendy" Groop, 72, died Sept. 15, 2001, at Messiah Village Nursing Care Center in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

She was born May 9, 1929, in Salisbury, Vt., the daughter of Howard and Grace Johnson Gale.

She was a homemaker, and member of the Mont Vale Evangelical Free Church in Mont Vale.

Survivors include her husband, Peter Groop; two sons, Andrew H. Groop of Dillsburg, Pa., and Peter S. Groop of Elkton, Md.; a daughter, Nina G. Taylor of North East, Md.; a brother, Donald Gale of Winter Haven, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held today at 7:30 p.m. at the Mont Vale Evangelical Free Church, Grand and Akers Avenue, Mont Vale. Burial will follow in Grantham Memorial Park in Grantham, Pa., at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Focus on the Family, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cocklin Funeral Home Inc., 30 North Chestnut St., Dillsburg, Pa.

George Galo

RUTLAND — Memorial services for George Galo, 80, who died March 30, 2003, were held April 5, 2003, at the Union Church of Proctor. The Rev. Russ Gates, pastor, officiated. The eulogy was given by Michelle Galo, a granddaughter. A committal service with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #31 was held in South Street cemetery in Proctor.

Henry Iannetti

RUTLAND — Henry D. Iannetti, 80, died unexpectedly April 4, 2003, upon arrival at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.

Steven Molnar Sr.

RUTLAND — Funeral services for Steven J. Molnar Sr., 75, of Rutland, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, who died April 3, 2003, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Clifford Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Clifford Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rutland County Humane Society, P.O. Box 558, Pittsford, VT 05763. Mr. Molnar was predeceased by four brothers, William Molnar, Ernest Molnar, George Molnar, and Emery Molnar.

Gordon Patterson

RUTLAND — A funeral mass for Gordon S. Patterson, 75, who died April 4, 2003, in Rutland, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Church. Mr. Patterson was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, P.O. Box 787, Rutland, VT 05702. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home.

Rosemary Sears

RUTLAND — Funeral services for Rosemary Sears, 50, of Rutland, who died April 3, 2003, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral Home.

Reginald Wilson

TAVARES, Fla. — Reginald C. Wilson, a former resident of North Clarendon, died April 5, 2003, in Tavares, Fla., following a brief illness. Arrangements are pending at the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland.

Gerald R. Whitford

Gerald R. Whitford, 53, died unexpectedly April 4, 2003, at his home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1949 in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the son of Bernard and Betty (LaBounty) Whitford.

He was educated in Moriah, N.Y., schools and served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Army Reserve unit in Rutland

He worked at one time as a mechanic for Smith Buick and the Army Reserve garage on Allen Street in Rutland. He was most recently employed by Tuttle Law Print before retiring due to failing health.

He is survived by his parents of Port Henry, N.Y.; a son, James Whitford of Cherry Point, N.C.; a daughter, Shasta Whitford of Keesville, N.Y.; a sister, Lisa Whitford of Moriah, N.Y.; two brothers, Michael Whitford of Seoul, South Korea, and David Whitford of Keesville, N.Y.; his former wife, Sherry Spaulding of Pittsford; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.

A burial service will be held in New York at a later date.
