DANIEL OLIVER GAMACHE

ST. ALBANS CITY - Daniel Oliver Gamache, 73, a resident of Federal Street in St. Albans City for nearly thirty-five years died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center.

He was born in St. Albans Bay, April 27, 1928, the son of the late Elphege and Yvonne (Chevalier) Gamache. Raised in Swanton he attended Sainte Anne's Academy and was a parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On May 14, 1955, he married the former Rita Bergeron who survives him.

Daniel was involved in farming for most of his working life, owning and operating farms on the County and Middle Roads in Swanton. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #1090 and the Franklin County Senior Citizens both in St. Albans.

In addition to his wife Rita Gamache of St. Albans Daniel leaves two daughters, Louise Brosseau and her husband Claude and Denise Bruley and her husband Michael all of Swanton; four sons, Marcel Gamache of Westford, Bernard Gamache of Seattle, Wash., Frank Gamache and his wife Janet of Pompano Beach, Fla. and Raymond Gamache of Westford. Also surviving are four sisters, Gabriel Hennigan of Virginia Beach, Va., Diane Bissonnette of Essex Junction, Rachel Morneau and her husband Charles of Coventry, Conn. and Marie Gamache of Hartford, Conn.; two brothers, Joseph Gamache and his wife Anna of Swanton and Robert Gamache and his wife Patty of Bedford, Va. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Brosseau, Jennifer Gamache, Nicholas Brosseau, Allison Bruley, Charles Gamache, Alex Brosseau and Steven Bruley.

He was predeceased by an infant son, Victor in 1958 and by three brothers, Gaston, Philip and Gilbert Gamache.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Father Leonidas Laroche, pastor of St. Mary's Parish in St. Albans, will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m.

NATT L. DIVOLL, JR.

ROCKINGHAM -- Natt L. Divoll, Jr., 88, or Rockingham Hill Road, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in Inverness, Fla. He was born in Rockingham Sept. 22, 1913, the son of Natt and Louie (Jamieson) Divoll. Natt graduated from Bellows Falls High School and went on to graduate from Middlebury College in 1934. He also graduated from the Brooklyn School of Law. He married Josephine Knox on June 26, 1937, in Lake Mowhawk, N.J. He served the U.S. Navy in WWII in the European Theater. He worked as a farmer in Rockingham, he was an attorney, and a Municipal Judge in Bellows Falls. He also served as a Superior Court Judge and Chief Superior Court Judge for the State of Vermont. He was a past Commander of the American Legion, a member of the B.P.O.E., he served on the original Union High School Board, he was on the Rockingham Library Board, was a member of the Rockingham Meeting House Association, and served on the Rockingham Board of Selectmen. He also served as the Secretary of the Senate and as Clerk of the House of Representatives.

Natt is survived by three sons, N. Lincoln Divoll III of Rockingham, Knox Divoll of Manchester, Scott Divoll of Rockingham; one daughter, Marcia Divoll of Nahant, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Lisa of Bristol, and Ira and Ian of Duxbury.

A memorial service will be held at the Rockingham Meeting House, with the date and time to be announced.

CARL M. FISHER

ST. ALBANS -- Carl M. Fisher, formerly of the Swanton Road in St. Albans, died at a hospital in St. Johnsbury Thursday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2002, at the age of 87.

He was born in East Concord on April 17, 1914, the son of Harry and Susie (Briggs) Fisher. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (John) Fisher, after 54 years of marriage.

In the 1950's, Carl worked in St. Johnsbury for Gage Auto Sales and followed the company as they moved to St. Albans where he worked until retirement. He later worked at B&B Auto Salvage in Georgia. He moved back to the East Concord/Gilman area in 1988. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Littleton and the Moose Lodge in St. Johnsbury.

He is survived by his lady friend and constant companion, Emma Lefrancois of Gilman; one son, Alton Fisher and wife Jenny of Newport, N.H.; one daughter, Marilyn Fairbanks and husband Robert of St. Albans Bay; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margurite Scales and husband Elwell of Gilman, Eula Ranney of Kirby; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Wayne, in 1966; by a sister, Verl Colby in 1996; by a brother, Renford 'Pop' Fisher in 1999; and by a half-brother, Ralph Briggs.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Gilman United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Gerry Piper, officiating. Visiting hours will precede the funeral at the church from 1:30 p.m. to the start of the service. Burial will be at a later date at St. Albans Bay Cemetery.

FENWICK T. "PETE" KITTELL

SHELDON - Fenwick T. "Pete" Kittell, age 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical center in St. Albans.

He was born in Sheldon on Dec. 25, 1926, the son of the late Fay and Mavine (Reed) Kittell.

Pete was a lifelong resident of Sheldon and retired from Union Carbide in 1985 following 29 years of employment. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the DAV Charlie Broe Chapter of Richford and the American Legion Post #42 of Enosburg. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and most of all he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and take his daily trips around town visiting with family and friends, telling stories and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine (Morin) Kittell of Sheldon; his children, Kristin, her husband, Albert "Don" Allee, Jr., and children Gina, Todd and Troy of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; Peter Kittell, his wife, Carolyn, and their children Seth, Lindsey, and Ali of Franklin; Leslie, her husband, Michael Emerson, and her children Julie, Chris and Billy of St. Albans; Jeffrey Kittell, his wife, Debbie, and their children Stacie, Jonathan and Katie of Sheldon; Michael Girard, his wife, Sherry, and their children Timothy, Cory and Christopher of Derby; Patricia, her husband, Maurice Pigeon, and her children Cari, Kelly and Wendy Bruley of Swanton; Diane Beyor and her son, Scott, of St. Albans; Janice Girard, her friend Bill Guyette, and her son, Steven, of Fletcher; and Gary Girard and his wife, Sally, and their daughter, Taylor, of Sheldon; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Jenkins of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Jutras, and a granddaughter, Hayley Girard.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 at Spears Funeral Home, at 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls with Pastor Cheryl Heater officiating.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.

For those who wish, contributions in his memory may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478.

EDWARD L. DUDLEY

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Edward L. Dudley, age 58, lost his fight with cancer and went to the Lord Thursday evening, Feb. 7, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in Winooski Sept. 24, 1943, son of the late Edward J. and Delsa (McKinney) Dudley. Ed served with the Merchant Marines for several years and later was self employed. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed picture painting.

His survivors include his three sons, Edward L. Dudley, III of St. Albans, James and Donna Dudley of Philadelphia, Pa., Kristian Dudley of Georgia; three grandchildren, Brittany Lynn Dudley, James Dudley, Jr., and Erica Dudley; his former wife Susan Vadino of Pocono Lake, Pa.; brother Donald and his wife Caroline McKinney of Jay Peak; sister Joyce Hind of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

No public funeral services are planned at this time. Interment will be in the Dudley family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

SEBASTIAN AVERY HUTCHINS

ALBURG -- Sebastian Avery Hutchins, 7 weeks old, of Alburg, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Feb. 7, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center.

Sebastian was born in St. Albans, Dec. 18, 2001, the son of Eric and Jessica (Flanders) Hutchins. Sebastian loved listening to his Mom read to him, talking with his Dad during the midnight hours, having his Aunt Shawna sing to him, and sharing ice cream with is Grandfather Gerald.

Besides his parents Jessica and Eric of Alburg, Sebastian leaves his sister, Jillian Marie Hutchins of Essex and his brother, Jordan Michael Hutchins of St. George. Also surviving are his paternal grandfather, Gerald Flanders of Alburg; maternal grandmother Pamela Hutchins of Colchester; maternal great-grandparents Ernest and Pauline Flanders of Fairfax; paternal great-grandparents, Earl and Nola Foley of Williston; paternal great-grandfather, Lawrence Hutchins of Plainfield; and maternal great-grandmother, Frances Stottlemyer of Fla. He also leaves his Aunt Shawna Flanders of Alburg; his Uncle Timothy Hutchins of Colchester; a cousin, Kayla Hutchins of Colchester; and a very close family friend Nancy Lavery of Swanton.

Sebastian was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Deborah DiCarlo in 1997 and his paternal grandfather, Bryce Hutchins in 2000.

A Mass of the Angels will be celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at 11 a.m. from Saint Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Alburg Village. The pastor, Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will take place later in Saint Amadeus Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Sebastian's memory may be made to the Tannis Austin Fund. Tannis is a three-year old that has been afflicted with the terminal disease Metachromatic Leukodystrophy. Contributions may be sent in care of Columbus Lodge #11, F & A.M. Attention: Leonard James, Main Street, Alburg 05440.

MARY IRENE LEACH

FAIRFAX -- Mary Irene Leach, 69 of Leach Road, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Mary was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Bakersfield, the daughter of the late Reginald and Freda Miller Nichols. On April 24, 1954, she married Larry Leach in Fairfax.

She was an avid gardener, also loved to sew and was a very accomplished seamstress who made many beautiful garments. Mary and Larry loved to dance and were members of the Green Mountain Steppers Square Dance Club for several years. They had also belonged to Al's Advanced 60's Club.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother who always had a kind word for everyone, she will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Mary is survived by her husband of almost 49 years, Larry Leach and their children, D. Jay Leach and his wife Kathy and Duane Leach and his wife Marnita, all of Fairfax. Her grandchildren, Jay Leach and his wife Laura of Fairfax, Kevin Leach of Fairfax and his friend Mindy Boudreau of Essex and Steven Leach of Fairfax. Her sisters and brothers, Dorothy Woodward and her husband Almon of Fairfax, John and Wanda Nichols of Clarksville, Ga., Jane Wimble and her partner Cornelius Reed, Jr. of Essex Jct. and Eric Nichols and his partner William Averyt of Burlington; her step-brothers and sisters, Alfred and Betty McLane of Milton, Win and Joyce McLane of N.H., Norman Spiller of Westford and Elaine and Roger Lavallee, also of Westford. Her brother-in-laws, William Webb and his wife Marion, and Ralph Ellsworth, both of Fairfax.

There will be no visiting hours. A Graveside Committal Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. in the Fairfax Plains Cemetery located on McNall Road in Fairfax with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. A reception will be held following the burial in the Bellows Free Academy Fairfax, Elementary School Gym where the family will greet friends.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to either, The United Church of Fairfax, c/o Sally Sweet treasurer, 44 Sweet/Slatterly Road, East Fairfield, Vt. 05448, or The American Heart Association, Vermont Affiliate, Inc., 12 Hurricane Lane, P.O. Box 485, Williston, Vt. 05495.

KAREN JEAN LYNCH

NORTH HERO -- Karen Jean Lynch, 45, of South End Road, died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 9, 2002, in the presence of her family and friends in the Vermont Respite House in Williston, following a long illness.

Karen was born April 1, 1956, in Burlington, the daughter of Timothy and June Mercier Lynch. She graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1974. She then attended Champlain College.

She is survived by her parents Timothy and June Lynch of North Hero; her sister Robin Kenyon and her husband Doug of North Hero; her two brothers Todd Lynch and his wife Barbara, and Jason Lynch both of North Hero. Her grandmother, Leona Mercier of Burlington; many uncles and aunts including her special Aunt Sandra Hanley and her husband James of Burlington. She leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including her special friends who were with her during her illness.

Karen was predeceased by her brother Brian in 1996.

There will be no visiting hours, however, a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Rt. 7, Milton. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Hyde Cemetery in North Hero. It is the family's wish that memorial contributions in Karen's memory be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, Vt. 05495.

Arrangements are by the Minor Funeral Home of Milton.
