JEANNE G. WALLACE

CHICAGO, Ill./ST. ALBANS -- Jeanne Georgianne Wallace, 72, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Feb. 2, 2002.

She was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., and was the daughter of the late George and Irma (Schuettge) Hallsteen.

Jeanne graduated from Mt. Union College in Alliance, Ohio and the Graduate Teachers College of Winnetka, Ill. She married John Emerson Wallace on June 22, 1951.

She was active in the Garden Club, University Women, Autonoe Club, and enjoyed volunteering at the Northwest Medical Center.

In addition to her loving husband, Emerson, she is survived by her children, a son, John Prescott and his wife Priscilla, and their sons Andrew and Peter of Seattle, Wash., a son, Derek and his wife Cynthia of Amesbury, Mass., a son Peter and his wife Kathleen and their sons Dylan and Connor of Nantucket, Mass. and a daughter Kimberly and her husband Peter, and their sons Tyler, Cory, and Ian of St. Albans.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Methodist Church in St. Albans. A reception will follow the service from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at 4 Howard Estates, St. Albans. Fro those who wish, contributions can be made in Jeanne's name to the American Heart Association or St. Paul's Methodist Church.

REV. JOHN R. LaBRAKE. S.S.E

SELMA, Ala./RUTLAND -- Rev. John R. LaBrake, S.S.E., 71, died at the Edmundite Mission Residence in Selma, Ala. on Jan. 31, 2002. Father LaBrake, son of Leon and Anna (Richards) LaBrake, was born on May 20, 1930 in Rutland. He was a professed member of the Society of Saint Edmund for 50 years and an ordained priest for 44 years. Father LaBrake graduated in 1953 from Saint Michael's College in Colchester. He later earned advanced degrees from the Gregorian University in Rome (1957), a master's degree in education from the University of New York (1963), and a doctorate from the University of Maryland (1977).

Known as a priest, an educator, an innovator full of ideas and creative solutions, a leader, an administrator, a researcher, a Navy chaplain and a pastor, Father LaBrake served at Cardinal Mindzenty Catholic High School in Dunkirk, N.Y. (1958-1962), the Church of the Nativity in Swanton (1963-1968), St. Michael's College in Colchester (1969-1971 and 1980-1989), Academy of Our Lady High School in Washington, D.C. (1977-1980), U.S. Navy Chaplaincy (1989-1993), and Saint Philip Neri Parish in Bellefontaine, Ala. (1993-2001).

Besides his brothers in religion, Father LaBrake is survived by a first cousin, Joanne LaBrake of Colchester.

Visiting hours will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Saint Philip Neri Church, 9101 Dauphin Island Parkway, Bellefontaine, Ala. immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Selma, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Edmundite Southern Missions, 1428 Broad Street, Selma, Ala. 36701.

LAURA BLOOM

FALMOUTH, Maine/RICHFORD -- Laura R. Bloom, 94, of Falmouth, Maine died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Laura was the beloved mother of Stephan Bloom and his wife Mary of Falmouth, Maine, Thomas Bloom of New York City, and of son-in-law Thomas Vawter of Lansing, N.Y.; cherished grandmother of Anna Vawter Reynolds and William Reynolds, Sarah Bloom Zima and William Zima, Peter Bloom, and Alison Vawter Boissonnas and Eric Boissonnas; and loving great-grandmother to Remi Boissonnas, Catherine and Sarah Reynolds and Taryn Zima. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Alfred Bloom and her daughter Catherine Bloom Vawter.

Laura was born Jan. 6, 1908, in Richford, daughter of Cortez Morgan Rounds and Blanche Sears Rounds. She graduated from Richford High School as valedictorian in 1926 and from the University of Vermont in 1930. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. After a short career as an English teacher, Laura attended Yale University's Nursing School from 1933 to 1935. She then taught nursing at Yale and Garfield School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., and was a public health nurse in Montgomery County, Md. for many years.

Laura and Henry Bloom were married in 1938 and lived in Chevy Chase, Md. for many years. Laura was an active and devoted member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase for over 40 years.

Since 1998, Laura was a resident of Falmouth House at Ocean View in Falmouth, Maine and she leaves behind many loving friends there.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at St. Mary the Virgin Church, 43 Foreside Road, Falmouth, Maine. An additional service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase, Md. in the spring. Laura will be buried in her family's plot in Hillside Cemetery, Richford. Arrangements are by Hay and Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress St., Portland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Laura Bloom/Falmouth House Cultural Fund, c/o Peoples Bank, 200 U.S. Rt. 1, Falmouth, Maine 04105.

PAUL CLARENCE TAYLOR

FAIRFAX -- Paul C. Taylor, age 74, died Jan. 31, 2002, in Fletcher Allen Health Care. He was born in Dorchester, Mass. on Sept. 13, 1927, the son of the late Katherine (Kelly) and Clarence Taylor.

He attended the Milton, Mass. schools before entering the U.S. Coast Guard, serving in the Asiatic/Pacific area at the end of World War II. After graduating from Franklin Technical institute in Boston until 1965. He then joined the U.S. Army Reserve, serving in several units before his retirement in 1987. Among the many medals he earned over the 38 years in the military are the Asiatic/Pacific Campaign medal, American Defense medal, World War II Victory medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement medal, Good Conduct medal, Humanitarian Service medal and the NCO Professional Development ribbons, plus several others. He continued on after his military retirement to be a corrections officer with the Vermont Corrections Department serving the St. Albans Facility for many years.

He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #758 of St. Albans, and a charter member of the National WWII Memorial. He was also a member of the Association of the United States Army.

He was married to Doris J. (Garceau-Young) Taylor on April 24, 1987. After his retirement from the military, they moved to Fairfax.

His survivors include his wife Doris; a son Gary and his wife Carol of Quincy, Mass.; seven step-children, Charles Young and his wife Donna of Lakeville, Mass., Carol Nash and her husband Kenneth of Weymouth, Mass., Marlene LeGrice and her fiance Joseph H. Quinton of Fairhaven, Mass., Susan Barnes of New Bedford, Mass., John Young of Montgomery, Anne Marie Doeherty and her husband James of Carver, Mass., Mark Young and his fiancee Sharyn Kenny of Taunton, Mass.;a sister Ruth Brennan and her husband Lawrence of Pocasset, Mass.; a brother Donald Taylor and his wife Laura Lee of Watertown, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irma (Babbitt)Taylor; a brother Wilton; an adopted daughter Mary Ann Parkey; and a step-granddaughter Holly Ann Barnes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will follow in the Young Family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

BARBARA B. CAMERON

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Barbara B. Cameron, age 77, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in the Roncalli Health Center. She was born March 12, 1924, daughter of the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Bevins) Clark. She married Joseph Cameron Oct. 4, 1947, and he pre-deceased her June 5, 1998. She spent most of her life as a home maker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #1.

She is survived by her seven children, Larry Cameron and his wife Cris of Midlothian, Texas, David Cameron and his wife Sue, Daniel Cameron and his wife Mary Ann both of Johnstown, N.Y., Paulette Malo and her husband Ted, Kenneth Cameron and his wife Lisa both of Gloversville, N.Y., Pamella Montgomery of Enosburg, and Elizabeth Cameron of Sheldon; a special grandson, "Little Joe" Cameron of Sheldon; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Livesey of Englewood, Fla. and Patricia Chase of Utah. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Marshall.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be in the Cameron family lot in Georgia Plains Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

RITA M. (RAYTA) DRISCOLL

ST. ALBANS -- Rita M. (Rayta) Driscoll, 79, a resident of St. Albans since 1984, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2002, at Northwestern Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Winooski Feb. 24, 1923, the daughter of the late George and Alma (Cauchon) Blondin. Rita was predeceased by her first husband, Richard C. Rayta, Sr., and her second husband, Lawrence "Red" Driscoll. She was a graduate of Winooski High School.

Rita is survived by two sons, Richard C. Rayta, Jr., and his wife, Dawn, of Canton, Ga., and Donald and his wife, Theresa Rayta of Jeffersonville; two daughters, Maureen Hopkins of Edinburg, N.Y. and Cathy L. Cross of St. Albans. She also leaves a twin brother, Robert Blondin of Winooski; a sister-in-law, Peanut Blondin of Burlington; grandchildren Shawnette Whitehead, Tammie Schofield, Patrick Rayta, Marie Rayta, Linda Lee Rayta, Ricky Cross, Andrew Cross, Gordon Stowell, Steven Stowell, Charles Rogers, and Nancy Chapman; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Chelsea Schofield, Cole Whitehead, Daniel, Jessica and Sabrina Hicks, Ricci Sue Rayta, Gage Rayta, Steven Stowell, Jr., Bryan Stowell and Mindy Stowell, Louie Adams, and Michael Thomas; also nieces, nephews and cousins; and several dear friends at Lake Street Housing. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Reverend Marcheta Townsend, pastor of the Highgate United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in New Mount Calvary Cemetery in Burlington. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, Inc., 13 Loomis Street, Montpelier, Vt. 05602 . Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.

DOROTHY THERRIEN

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Dorothy Therrien, age 78, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born the daughter of Della Lambert, Aug. 17, 1923. She married Gilbert Therrien Aug. 1, 1942, and he predeceased her May 29, 1986. She was a co-owner with her husband of the Therrien farm on Georgia Shore, and also Therrien's Trucking. More recently she was a home care giver. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 321, Club Respite, and the Georgia Golden Age Group.

She is survived by her five children, Rachel Tanner and her husband Richard of Fairfield, Rena Dezotell and her husband Harold of Jeffersonville, Rodney Therrien of Randolph, Lawrence Therrien and his wife Mary Ellen of St. Albans, and Tammy Therrien and her fiance Marcus Mudgett of St. Albans; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister Elizabeth Sartwell of Highgate Center; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband and mother, she was predeceased by a son Winifred Therrien on Nov. 26, 1967.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Georgia Plain Baptist Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be in the Therrien family lot in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478, or Club Respite, McGinn Dr., St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

HANNA F. OVITT

BAKERSFIELD -- Hanna F. Ovitt, infant daughter of William and Sonya (Spradlin) Ovitt died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. She was born May 26, 2001, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

In loving memory of our daughter who had the happiest life: She was always smiling. In her seven-month stay at Fletcher Allen it was very easy to get attached to her big blue eyes and her beautiful smile. She loved playing with her cousins and always wanted them to pick her up. Her dog, Chelsea was always watching over her even when Hanna would pull on her.

Hanna was only home for three months, but touched the hearts of all the people who knew and loved her. She was our angel on earth and now she is God's angel in heaven. We will always love and miss our little Peanut.

Besides her parents, Hanna is survived by her dog Chelsea; her maternal grandparents, Sherri and Landon Joyal; paternal grandparents Diane and Larry Lamore, and Dale and Mary Ovitt all of Bakersfield; maternal great-grandparents Margaret and Glenn Spradlin of Dickson, Tenn.; paternal great-grandmother Evelyn Emerson and her husband Bob of South Hampton, Mass; her aunts, uncles, and cousins, Nikki Jo Spradlin of Dickson, Tenn., Shaun Spradlin of Enosburg Falls, Chris Joyal and Jesse Joyal, both of Conneaut, Ohio, Tim Joyal and his wife Amy and their children Elainna, Seth and Tabatha of Cambridge, Lisa Denton, her husband Gary and their children Katelyn and Logan, Blaine Ovitt and his wife Samantha and their children Ryan, Sayde and Steele, Danielle Ovitt, and Adam Lamore all of Bakersfield. Hanna was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Nickie Spradlin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Bakersfield Congregational Church with Pastor Marshall True officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on 96 Dickinson Avenue in Enosburg Falls.
