ERVIN J. GORDON

HIGHGATE SPRINGS -- Ervin J. Gordon, age 36, was pronounced dead Saturday evening, March 9, 2002, in the Northwestern Medical Center, shortly after arrival, from a long history of asthma disease. Ervin was born in Burlington Feb. 18, 1966, son of the late Titro Winslow and Beatrice Evelyn (Little) Gordon.

Ervin was an avid bingo player and traveled the bingo circles in Vermont and Northern New York with his friends.

He is survived by his special friends Judy Brior, Terrance Parah, Sr., and Terrance Parah, Jr., all of Highgate Springs, Lynn Parrott and Angela Elwood both of Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in Highgate Center. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

NORMAN R. LOVELETTE

SWANTON -- Norman R. Lovelette, age 76, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at his home following a long illness with diabetes.

He was born in Richford Dec. 25, 1925, the son of the late Merritt B. and Mildred L. (Domina) Lovelette.

Norman attended school in Richford then entered the U.S. Army in 1944 to serve during WWII. Following his honorable discharge he attended Burlington Business College graduating in 1950. He then was employed at Atlas Plywood in Houlton, ME for two years and then transferred to their Richford Plant and worked there for eight years. He then was employed at the Missisquoi Pulp Mill in Sheldon for 33 years retiring in 1986. Following retirement he moved back to Richford where he became active in Town Affairs serving as Lister, Village Trustee and Water Commissioner. In 1994 he moved to St. Albans and for the past few years made his home in Swanton.

Norman was very active in Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. in 1993 he received the Governor's Award for Community Service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #88 of Sheldon, Richford Lions Club and served on the Northwestern Medical Center Incorporated Board.

Since 1993 Norman lived with diabetes and kidney failure and fought to live on dialysis. Both legs amputated, Norman still was very active and went to all sports events that he could. The love of his children, grandchildren and family members kept him going. He loved his camp and spending summers at Fairfield Pond.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Cyr) Lovelette of Swanton; four sons and their wives Phillip and Sandra Lovelette of Enosburg Falls, Timothy and Roxanne Lovelette of Broadrun, V.A., Terry and Mary Lovelette and John and Sarah Lovelette both of St. Albans; one daughter and her husband, Nancy and Dean Zottos of Epping, N.H.; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters and their spouses, Loren and Velma Lovelette of Raymond, M.E., Allen and Janice Lovelette of Presque Isle, M.E., Lawrence and Judith Lovelette of Swanton, Janice Gale of Burlington, and Sally and Dexter Ovitt of Daytona Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Merritt, Leland, Malcolm and Robert Lovelette; two sisters, Virginia Lovelette and Beverly Duso.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz and Fater Leonidas Laroche co-celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held next spring in the Hillside Cemetery in Richford.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls.

JERRY WINNER

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla./SWANTON -- Jerry Winner, long time owner and operator of the former Spearhead Radio on Lake St., St. Albans, has passed away from cancer, early March 6, 2002, at his home at 4016 Ventnorg. A graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, and a veteran of World War II, Mr. Winner served in the 3rd Armored (Spearhead) Division in the European Theatre. He participated under General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge among other campaigns.

Mr. Winner spent his retirement in Florida, visiting with family members, helping neighbors whose televisions needed repair, and feeding and befriending stray animals in the Deerfield Beach area.

He leaves his wife of 31 years, the former Helen Boer, also of Deerfield Beach; four sisters, Mrs. Nathan (Sylvia) Grodzinsky of Swanton, Mrs. Frederick (Goldie) Weck of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Jacob (Hodes) Mogelever of Hollywood, Fla., Mrs. Richard (Hilda) Harris, Sr. of Seabrook, Texas; and two brothers, Mr. Nathan Winner of Cathedral City, Calif., and Mr. Simon Winner of Pembroke Pines, Fla. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. (Rose) Julius Winner; sisters Edith Winner and Mrs. Herman (Eve) Ferrulo; brothers Louis Winner and Jacob Winner.

Funeral and burial services will be held in Florida. Donations in Mr. Winner's memory can be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

THELMA G. CORNFORTH

TUCSON, Ariz./ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Thelma Gerald Cornforth, age 91, died Tuesday, March 7, 2002, in St. Joseph Hospital, Tucson, Ariz., following a brief illness. She was born in Unity, Maine, April 6, 1910, daughter of the late William and Mamie (Murch) Gerald. On June 28, 1931, she married Howard Cornforth who predeceased her Feb. 1980.

She leaves two sons, Richard Cornforth and his wife Concetta of St. Albans, and David Cornforth and his wife Lucille of Pearce, Ariz.; a daughter Beatrice Cornforth of Maple Shade, N.J.; five grandchildren, Celeste Gagne and her husband Phillip of Bakersfield, Bradley Cornforth and his wife Lisa of Franklin, Debra, Cassandra and Eric Cornforth all of Arizona; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Justin and Meghan Cornforth of Franklin, Phillip and Laela Gagne of Bakersfield; three sisters, Pearl Smith of Unity, Maine, Helen Alexander and Doris Hall both of Albion, Maine. Besides her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her infant son Malcomb and sisters Evelyn Webb and Mildred Crosby.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, at 1 p.m. at the East View Church of Christ in Tucson, Ariz. Interment will be in the Cornforth family lot in Unity, Maine in the summer. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall St., New York, N.Y., 10005-4001. Local arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

AURORA "SUE" SHEDRICK

MILTON -- Aurora "Sue" Shedrick, 75, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.

Sue was born on Feb. 16, 1927, in Colchester, the daughter of John and Mary (Robar Demag) Peltier. Sue was a graduate of Milton High School.

On March 4, 1946, she married Bernard Shedrick in St. Ann's in Milton. Bernard predeceased her on Jan. 13, of 1992.

She had worked for General Electric in Burlington for several years, as an insurance benefits specialist, retiring in 1987. She also spent many years working for Fassetts Bakery during layoff periods at G.E.

She was very active in her community, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Ann's and at the Fanny Allen Hospital. She was a volunteer at the Fanny Allen, a member and state treasurer for several years of the Good Sam Camping Club. She was a treasurer for several years for the Milton Community Meals Program of the C.V.A.A., and was a treasurer for the Arrowhead Seniors. She was also a member of R.S.V.P.

She is survived by her children Bruce Shedrick and his wife Joanne of Mercerville, N.J., Sharron Heywood and her husband Gary of Jericho, and Pam Shedrick of Essex; by her grandchildren Melissa and Gretchen Heywood, and Jennifer Warren and her husband Michael.

By her longtime companion Moses Trayah of Milton, her brother Luman DeMague of Austin, Texas; her sister-in-law Betty Poquette and her husband Herbert of Milton; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Bernard, Sue was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Agnes Brior, Guy Demag, Fred Demag, Ella Demag and Louis Peltier.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, March 11, 2002, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milton by Father Ronald Soutiere. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery.

Contributions in Sue's memory may be made to either Milton Rescue, P.O. Box 15, Milton, Vt. 05468, or to the American Lung Assoc., Vermont Affiliate, 30 Farrell St., South Burlington, Vt. 05403-9987.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a wake service at 8 p.m. in Minor Funeral Home, Rt. 7, Milton.

EDITH B. McENANY

SHELDON -- Edith B. McEnany, age 88, died Wednesday evening, March 6, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Waitsfield the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Long) Williamson.

She was a resident of Sheldon most of her life and was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Enosburg. She was also a graduate of Johnson Normal School in 1943 and taught in Highgate for two years, she then began to help her husband operate the family dairy farm and substitute teach in the Sheldon School system.

She is survived by her husband, Carlton McEnany of Sheldon; one son and his wife, David and Connie McEnany of Sheldon; a daughter and her husband, Linora and Barry Johnson of Morrisville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Earl and Hazel Long of Hancock; two sisters, Letha Corlis of Woodbury and Maxine Tallman of Duxbury; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lettie Douglas; two brothers, Howard and Charles Long.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home on 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls. Interment will be in the spring in the Sheldon Village Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

ELIZABETH (ALLEN) HACKETT

WEST HARTFORD, Conn./FRANKLIN -- Elizabeth (Allen) Hackett, 77, of West Hartford, Conn., the mother of a Franklin resident, died Wednesday, in West Hartford, following a short illness. She was born Sept. 20, 1924, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Ethel (Gabaree) Allen and Howard Allen of Lyndonville.

Mrs. Hackett was a graduate of Lyndon Institute and received a bachelor's degree in music education from Syracuse University. She continue her studies at Columbia University and became a music teacher in East Williston, Long Island. She married Dale O. Hackett of Newport on July 2, 1950, in the Lyndonville Baptist Church. She taught music in Washington D.C. and Inskip, Tenn. before moving to Windsor Locks and West Hartford, Conn. where she lived for 47 years.

Mrs. Hackett was very active in Greater Hartford's musical scene, serving as a concert mistress of the Connecticut String Orchestra. She also belonged to the Musical Club of Hartford, The Roulade Club, several string quartets, the Choir of the Unitarian-Universalist Meeting House of Greater Hartford, The Meeting House's Council and Women's Alliance. She was an avid arts and outdoors enthusiast who belonged to the Appalachian Mountain Club and traveled extensively abroad.

Survivors include, her husband of West Hartford; one daughter, Marilyn Hackett of Franklin; one son and daughter-in-law Neal and Diane Hackett of East Hartford, Conn.; and one grandson, Burr Hackett.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Unitarian-Universalist Meeting House, 200 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, Conn., followed by a reception by the Women's Alliance. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The Gifts and Scholarship Fund Musical Club of Hartford, Caroline White, treasurer, 175 Hartford Ave., East Granby, Conn., 06026.

JUANITA B. MALONE

EAST ENOSBURG -- Juanita B. Malone, age 72, wife of Barney Malone, Jr., passed away Wednesday morning, March 6, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Montgomery Dec. 9, 1929, the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Stetson) Brooks.

She was a resident of Enosburg most of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Johnson State College and taught school in Franklin for 40 years, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed collecting dolls and doll houses and most of all will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Barney and Juanita were married July 1, 1950.

She is survived by her husband, Barney Malone, Jr. of East Enosburg; two sons and their wives, Terry and Ruth Malone of Bakersfield, Tim and Martha Malone of Berkshire; two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Gary St. Pierre of Fairfield, Kim and Daniel Gervais of Enosburg; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gyneth Lumbra of Richford, Beverly Poirier and her husband Everett of Montgomery; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 at the Spears Funeral Home on 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls with Pastor Cheryl Heater officiating. Interment will follow in the Missisquoi Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
