Olson, Donald Monday, 12 Mar 2007
Donald Byron Olson, of Port Orchard, died on March 12, 2007, in Bremerton.
He was 75.
He was born on Aug. 20, 1931, in Frederick S.D., to Oscar and Daisy (Jameison) Olson.
He married Merceda “Marci” Sihrer on Aug. 23, 1950, in Aberdeen, S.D.
He was a rigger/diver general foreman at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He was head of all civilian divers at PSNS and all underwater repair and maintenance until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of the Olympic Lancers Diving Club, of Bremerton; the Olympic Lancers Search and Rescue; a volunteer firefighter in Port Orchard; a Cub Scoutmaster in Port Orchard; and the Sons of Norway in Bremerton.
He enjoyed fishing and diving.
He is survived by wife Marci Olson, of Port Orchard; son Donald (and wife Patty) Olson, of Bremerton; daughters Debbie (and husband Rudy) Werle, of Federal Way, and Rhonda (and husband Dennis) Desmond of Port Orchard; brothers Leonard (and wife Francis) Olson, Kermit (and wife Nadine) Olson, Eldon (and wife Carole) Olson, and Jim (and wife Mary) Olson; sisters Evelyn Hersom, Helen (and husband Curtis) Garrett, and Alice (and husband Paul Hopfinger; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by son Roger Olson in 1981 and by five brothers and one sister.
A memorial service was held at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard on March 16.
Remembrances can be made to the Kitsap Humane Society.

Keeler, Theodore Saturday, 04 Dec 2004
Theodore E. Keeler, of Port Orchard, died on Dec. 4, 2004, at home. He was 66.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1938, in Oregon City, Ore., to Eddie and Wilma (Seitz) Keeler.
He married Sarah L. Bethje on May 5, 1967, in Battleground.
He graduated from Hudson Bay High in Vancouver (Wash.) in 1958. He worked for 22 years as a trades helper at the Washington Veteran’s Home at Retsil, and 14 years for International Paper Co.
He was a train enthusiast and enjoyed computer games.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Keeler, of Port Orchard; sons Jeff (and wife Michelle) Keeler of Port Orchard, and Lloyd (and wife Sarah) Keeler, of Missouri; brother Kenneth Keeler, of Vancouver (Wash.); and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Daniel and Gerald Keeler and granddaughters Alexandra, Samantha and Darian Keeler.
A memorial service was held at the Washington Veteran’s Home at Retsil on Dec. 10.

Shipman, Ervin Wednesday, 01 Dec 2004
Ervin Shipman, of Port Orchard, died on Dec. 1, 2004, in Bremerton. He was 77.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1927, in Bear Mountain, to William B. and Katherine (Meissen) Shipman.
He married Theresa Trainer at Lake Chelan on July 1, 1951.
He attended Lakeside High School in Chelan and worked as a flange turner at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
He attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife Theresa Shipman, of Port Orchard; sons Steve (and wife Karen) Shipman of Ohio, Michael (and wife Sandra) of Gig Harbor, and Mark Shipman of Mount Vernon; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Nov. 6, followed by burial at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
Memorial donations can be made to the Lions Club Eye Bank.

Razey-Kilbane, Benita Tuesday, 30 Nov 2004
Benita Razey-Kilbane of Silverdale died on Nov. 30, 2004, at Madigan Army Medical Center.
She was 43.
She was born on Feb. 10, 1961, to Bernard and Maizie (Anderson) Razey in Hermiston, Ore. In 1965 she moved with her family to Port Orchard, where she gradated from South Kitsap High School in 1980.
She worked for All Star Lanes of Silverdale and Hi Joy Bowl in Port Orchard.
She married Anthony Kilbane on May 1, 1998.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Kilbane, of Silverdale; son Zachary Kilbane, of Silverdale; parents Bernard and Maizie Razey, of Port Orchard; sister Ramona Razey of Port Orchard; brother Robert (and wife Michelle) Razey of Port Orchard; and nephews Robert, Stephen and Joseph Razey of Port Orchard.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 11, at All Star Lanes in Silverdale.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a college fund for her 5-year-old son. Donations can be made to Zachary Kilbane, c/o Razey Family 3561 Greentree Dr. SE, Port Orchard, WA 98315. Or you can make a donation to the Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Foundation.

Gilchrist, Crystal Tuesday, 30 Nov 2004
Crystal Louise “Dot” Gilchrist, of Silverdale, died on Nov. 30, 2004, at Crista Shores, in Silverdale.
She was 93.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1911, in Chicago, to Fred and Crystal (Swang) Zellweger.
She married John Gilchrist on April 20, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1999.
She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1928.
She worked for Hayward Insurance in Bremerton and later worked as a bookkeeper at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home in Port Orchard, which she and her husband purchased in 1948.
She was a member of the Rainbow Girls, the Ann Wilson Orthopedic Guild, Triads, Soroptimists of Port Orchard, and the Kiwanis.
She enjoyed golf and was an original member of Clover Valley Golf Club. She also enjoyed reading and playing bridge.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by daughters Pamela (and husband Rich) Piper of Silverdale, and Patricia Wood of Napa Valley, Calif; brother Don Zellweger, of Seattle; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Dec. 4 at Lewis Chapel in Bremerton, followed by a graceside service at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Memorial donations can be made to the Literacy Council of Kitsap, 612 5th St., Bremerton, WA 98337, or to Children’s Hospital, 4800 Sand Point Way, Seattle, WA 98105.

Rundquist, Stanley Saturday, 27 Nov 2004
Stanley A. Rundquist, of Port Orchard, died on November 27, 2004, at home.
He was 73.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1931, in Springlake, N.J., to Harry and Selma (Nystrom) Rundquist.
He married Helen English on Jan. 17, 1951, in Pawtucket, R.I.
He attended Bayside (N.Y.) High School before graduating from the University of Rhode Island in 1956.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 as an aerographer’s mate. He later served for 30 years as a financial auditor/controller.
He enjoyed sports, fishing and was a former minor league pitcher.
He was a catholic.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Rundquist, of Port Orchard; sons Robert Rundquist of Port Orchard and Richard Rundquist of Hawthorne, Calif.; daughter Karen (and husband Steve) Barrerras of Port Orchard, and one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center.

Dreessen, Agnes Wednesday, 24 Nov 2004
Agnes Dreessen, of Port Orchard, died on Nov. 24, 2004, at home.
She was 89.
She was born on March, 26, 1915, in George, Iowa, to Everette and Etta (Janssen) Tutje.
She married Ervin Dreessen on April 7, 1936, in Sibley, Iowa.
She attended school in Allendorf, Iowa, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons Herman (and wife Barbara) Dreessen of Snohomish, Marvin (and wife Donna) Dreessen of Port Orchard, Dale (and wife Darlene) Dreesen of Luverne, Minn., and Gary (and wife Yvonne) Dreessen of Orting; daughters Lorraine Couch of Flanoreau, S.D., and Dianne (and husband Leroy) Thompson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister Loretta Wienrank of Sanborn, Iowa, and 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Chris, Simon and Evert Tutje, plus two other brothers who died in infancy; and sisters Elizabeth Starkenburg and Jennie Funk.
A funeral service was held at Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center on Nov. 29. A second funeral service will be held at Engebretson Funeral Home in Luverne, Minn., on Dec. 4, at 11 a.m., followed by burial in the Garden of Memories, in Luverne.

Barger, Fred Monday, 15 Nov 2004
Fred Ray Barger, of Port Orchard, died on Nov. 15, 2004, at home.
He was 52.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1952, in Vancouver, Wash., to Allan Marilyn L. (Catherman) Barger.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1970 and attended Olympic College.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and worked as a landscaper and later for the Kitsap County Humane Society.
He loved animals and enjoyed the outdoors.
He attended South Colby Methodist Church.
He is survived by brother Winslow (and wife Laura) Barger; sisters Shirley (and husband Rick) Grabner and Barbara (and husband Skip) Bugenig; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Nov. 20, at South Colby Methodist Church.
Memorial donations can be made to the Kitsap Mental Health Foundation, 5455 Almira Dr. NE, Bremerton, WA 98317.
