Stoner, Dale Saturday, 20 Sep 2003
Dale R. “Bill” Stoner, 76, a resident of Port Orchard, died Sept. 20, 2003, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 22, 1926, in Bremerton to John Joseph and Blanche (Van Horn) Stoner.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a Seaman 1st Class.
He enjoyed figure skating and ice hockey, acquired his private pilot’s license and loved flying, he loved hunting and fishing, was a champion bowler, enjoyed playing piano and the accordion, and loved building and landscape design.
He is survived by his wife Helen K. Stoner of Port Orchard; son Greg Stoner and his wife Kirsten; daughters Bobbi Loudon and her husband Jerry and Becki Menees and her husband Bill; and six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his nine brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Christian Life Center in Port Orchard. Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations can be made to the charity of the giver’s choice.

Lambert, Frank Saturday, 06 Jan 2007
Frank H. Lambert, of Port Orchard, died on Jan. 6, 2007, at Naval Hospital Bremerton.
He was 86.
He was born on March 12, 1920, in Eggbend, La.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and spent 26 years in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of the Scottish Rite Lodge in Stockton, Calif., and the Oregon Military Masonic Lodge; a past member of the Crescent Arabian Horse Club and a 10-year member of the LeGrand, Calif., Municipal Advisory Council.
He loved and raised horses all his life.
He is survived by wife maria Lambert; sons John (and wife Kimiko) Lambert of Port Orchard and Damien Lambert of New Orleans, La.; step-son Stanley (and wife Clarice) Rachael, of Lake Charles, La.; sister Gastry Norma; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Jan. 16 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
Remembrances can be made to the American Lung Association, 2625 Third Ave., Seattle, WA 98121 or the charity of the giver’s choice.

Cole, Sterling Saturday, 06 Jan 2007
Sterling P. Cole, of Port Orchard, died on Jan. 6, 2007, at home.
He was 76.
He was born on March 22, 1930, in Hope, N.D., to Fredrick and Cynthia (Baker) Cole.
He married Lois Horner on Aug. 6, 1949, in Page, N.D.
He worked for 36 years in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard’s Rigger Shop No. 72 until his retirement in 1986.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by wife Lois Cole, of Port Orchard; daughters Susan (and husband Larry) Bateman of Kennewick, Cindy (and husband Mike) Clements of Michigan, Mindy (and husband Johnny) Warren of Port Orchard; son Dan (and wife Terry) Cole of Port Orchard; brothers Warren (and wife Joyce) Cole of Hope, N.D., and Dub (and wife Joyce) Cole, of Grand Prairie, Texas; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending.

Gazarek, Carolyn Thursday, 04 Jan 2007
Carol Gazarek, of Seattle, died at her home on Jan. 4, 2007.
She was 85.
She had lived in Port Orchard for 14 years before returning to Seattle.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1921, in Chicago, to Rose and Abner Price.
She married Charlie Gazarek before World War II and moved to Seattle after the war.
At age 80, she fulfilled a lifelong dream to attend college herself and went on to complete an associate’s degree from Olympic College. She ran for state senator in the early 1960s, nearly defeating the incumbent.
She worked for years as secretary to the vice chairman of Seafirst Bank where she won a National Secretary of the Year Award.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Gazarek, brother Joe Price and sister Shirley MacGregor.
She is survived by daughters Karen Bianchi and Celeste Gazarek-Roberts of Seattle, Sue of Port Orchard, Rosemary Cowan of San Francisco, and Carole of Tacoma; sons Michael Gazarek of Mercer Island and Charles Gazarek of Los Angeles; sister Ruth McGushin of Lancaster, Ohio; and 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial services and funeral mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 11 at St. James Cathedral, Seattle.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 10 at Christ the King Catholic Church, North Seattle.
Remembrances can be made to Holy Names Academy and O’Dea High School of Seattle.

Byczkowski, Mildred Monday, 01 Jan 2007
Mildred Byczkowski, of Bremerton, died on Jan. 1, 2007, at home.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1922, in Cicero, Ill., to John and Mary (Volanec) Balik.
She worked as a Red Cross coordinator at Naval Hospital Bremerton and as a medical clerk at Bangor Medical Clinic.
She earned the Clara Barton Award for her Red Cross service.
She was preceded in death by husband Paul Byczkowski and brother Edward Balik.
A funeral service was held on Jan. 9 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by burial at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Remembrances can be made to the Kitsap County Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road NW, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Heckenlively, Byron Sunday, 31 Dec 2006
Byron William Heckenlively, of Port Orchard, died on Dec. 31, 2006, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was 42.
He was born in Portland, Ore., to Harold William Heckenlively and Jacki (McDonald) Bailey. He was raised in Port Orchard and attended South Kitsap High School and Olympic College.
He worked at Shari’s Restaurant in Port Orchard for four years before retiring in 2004. He also worked at Elsie’s Restaurant in Silverdale.
He was a member of the Foresters.
He enjoyed working on the computer and medieval toys.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jerry and Jacki Bailey of Port Orchard; sisters Teresa Medrano of San Antonio, Texas, April Blomberg of Tacoma and Johni Keogh of Portland, Ore.; and his grandmother, Iva Bailey of Bremerton.
Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday at Forest Lawn cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Faith Community Bible Church, 3648 F St., Bremerton. A reception will follow the service.
Remembrances can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Bay, Beulah Saturday, 30 Dec 2006
Beulah Bay, 91, resident of Port Orchard
Beulah Bay, of Port Orchard, died at Madigan Army Medical Center. She was 91.
She was born on May 25, 1915, in Blaine.
She married Curtis Bay Jr. on Oct. 2, 1936, in Bellingham.
She was a member of the Village Greens Women’s Golf Association, the Red Hat Society and Eastern Star.
She is survived by son Curtis B. Bay III, of Port Orchard; daughter Betsy Williamson of Spartanburg, S.C.; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
At her request, no services are planned.

Glenda Jillson, systems analyst
Glenda M. Jillson, of Port Orchard, died on Dec. 27, 2006, at home. She was 66.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1940, in Adrian, Minn., to Harold and Lola (Modesta) Reese.
She married Ronald Jillson on March 31, 1973, in San Jose, Calif.
She worked as a systems analyst at Intel Corp. until her retirement.
She enjoyed crocheting, craftwork and gardening.
She is survived by husband Ronald Jillson, of Port Orchard; sons Jeffrey and Scott Ballard; daughter Laura Callahan; brother Loren Reese; sister Janette Schneider and six grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 2 at Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.

Peterson, Gus Saturday, 30 Dec 2006
Gus “Pete” Peterson, of Poulsbo, died on Dec. 30, 2006, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
He was 62.
He was born on June 8, 1944, in Auburn, to Anton and Elisabeth (Pittman) Peterson.
He married Anita Mingus on Feb. 9, 1963, in Vancouver, Wash.
He graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1962.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1989, earning the rank of master chief.
He was self-employed for the last 10 years of his life, operating Gus’s Tractor and Mechanical.
He enjoyed fly-fishing, hunting and the outdoors.
He is survived by wife Anita Peterson, of Poulsbo; mother Betty Peterson, of Vancouver, Wash.; son Gus (and wife Jackie) Peterson Jr. of Port Orchard; daughters Denise (and husband Marty) Frost, of Spanaway, and Erica (and husband Gary) Borden, of Graham; brother Jerry (and wife Debbie) Peterson of Charleston, S.C.; sisters Donna Peterson of Vancouver, Wash., Shirley Garrett Peterson, of Vancouver, Wash., Georgia Peterson of Spokane and Bonnie Womack of Vancouver, Wash.; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 5 on Rill Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
