Ernest Peterson

Ernest Peterson, a 76-year resident of Kelly Hill, passed away July 15, 2004 at home.

He was born June 11, 1928, to Gunnar Hartvig Peterson and Agnes Karolina (Backstrom) Peterson.

Mr. Peterson served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1951-53, during the Korean War.

He then worked for the U.S. Forest Service for many years.

He enjoyed farming and outdoor activities.

He married Ruth Janet (Jann) Peterson in 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Jann, and his four children; Vance Peterson, Spokane; Betsy Peterson, Omak; Debra Peterson, Long Beach, CA; and Gary Peterson, Kettle Falls.

A daughter, Leslie Gaye, preceded him in death.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and six siblings: Gunhild Graves, Tacoma; Ragnar Peterson, Bremerton; Lilly Shriner, Kettle Falls; Edith Cain, Spokane; Edna Annabelle, Seattle; and Irene Hogan, Livermore, CA.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Hart, Axel, and Herb, and by a sister, Anna.

The family is planning a private memorial service at the Kelly Hill cemetery, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joint Fire District No. 3 & 8, Kettle Falls (in care of the Barstow Store), or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Frank E. Walston

Frank Walston, service Friday

Funeral services for Frank E. Walston, a lifetime resident of the Colville area, will be held at 11 a.m. this Friday, Oct. 8 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel.

The Reverend Greg Knox will officiate at the service.

Mr. Walston passed away Oct. 2, 2004 in Colville at the age of 85.

He was born in Colville Sept. 16, 1919, the son of Glenford C. and Rosa P. (Wheeler) Walston.

Mr. Walston was a 1937 graduate of Colville High School.

He was drafted into the Army in 1941 during World War II and was discharged in 1942.

After his military service, he returned to Colville and worked for a short time at the JC Penney store, then went to the Barman's Furniture and Hardware store for many years.

Frank married Gladys P. Elder on July 1, 1950 in Colville.

He delivered fuel for the Union Oil distributorship for two years and served on the Colville Police Department for three and one-half years.

He was a post office deliveryman for 24 years until retiring in 1979.

Mr. Walston was also very active in community affairs.

He was a 53-year member of the Colville United Methodist Church, a 71-year member and past officer of Fort Colville Grange, a 62-year member and past Commander of the Frank Starr American Legion Post, and a 60-year member and past Chancellor Commander of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Colville

He has been the organizer of the Colville High School Class of 1937 reunions ever since he graduated.

He was well-known to everyone as a dedicated member of the many organizations to which he belonged.

Mr. Walston is survived by his wife Gladys at the home; his daughter, Carol Leithead and husband, Kenneth, Colville; his brother, Dale Walston and wife, Margaret, Colville; four grandchildren, including Alan Rogers, Colville; Sam Leithead and wife, Jenifer, Colville; Barbara Anderson and husband, Robert, Olympia and Julie Ditolla, Seattle; four great-grandchildren including Linda Edo, Danna Harbert and Chelisse and Haydon Leithead.

Graveside services will follow the funeral service at the Mountain View Park cemetery in Colville with the American Legion Post participating.

Memorials may be made to either the Fort Colville Grange or the Stevens County Historical Society.

The Danekas Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Neal Dewey Barnes

Funeral service for Neal Dewey Barnes was held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chewelah.

Graveside services and vault interment followed at the Chewelah Memorial Park Cemetaery in Chewelah.

Mr. Barnes, a 28-year resident of Addy, passed away on Nov. 19, 2004 in Tekoa.

Neal was born on May 17, 1925 in Driggs, ID, the son of Franklin and Mett (Barney) Barnes.

During his childhood, Neal traveled extensively with his family rhoughout the states of Idaho and Montana.

Neal went to work on the family farm at a young age.

He helped on the farm until entering the U.S. Army during World War II.

Neal served overseas and participated in the occupation of Japan.

He was honorably discharged and returned to Belgrade, MT, where he met Annella Johnson.

The couple was married on Sept. 19, 1950 in Idaho Falls, ID.

They resided on the family ranch where Neal farmed with his father and brother until 1964.

Neal and Annella then purchased a ranch near Vernon, B.C.

Together they ranched near Vernon for 12 years before returning to the United States where they bought a ranch near Addy.

Neal continued ranching and farming until his retirement at the age of 65.

Neal adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

He was very musical and as a young man would sing and play his steel guitar in the family band at the local dances.

Neal also spent countless hours in his woodshop where he made everything from clocks to tables and chairs.

His family was the majority recipient of these labors of love.

In his spare time Neal also loved to go fishing.

Kind, loving and compassionate was the nature of Neal Barnes.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annella Barnes at the home; six sons: Jason Barnes and his wife, Terra, Enterprise, UT, Ethan Barnes and his wife, Tina, Pleasant Grove, UT, Nephi Barnes and his wife, Cindy, Addy, Shad Barnes and his wife, Leila, Lehi, UT, Rex Barnes and his wife, Sharon, Provo, UT and Zem Barnes, Addy; five daughters: Yvonne Slater and her husband, David, Kent, Juanita Isert and her husband, Brian, Russia, Quinn Barnes, Spokane, LaNell Stewart and her husband, Doug, Provo, UT and DoVay Perry and her husband, Van, Portland, OR; four sisters: Vera Petersen and her husband, Ed, Oakland, MN, Ruby Arts, Bozeman, MT, Betty Jones and her husband, Derald, Gifford and Rita Locheridge and her husband, Paul, Bozeman; 52 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Neal was preceded in death by three grandchildren and three brothers.

Memorial contributions can be given to the Perpetual Education Fund via the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Linda Dianne Ramsey

Linda D. Ramsey, a resident of the Colville area for only one year, died as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident north of Colville on Nov. 27, 2004.

She was 52.

Mrs. Ramsey was born on Jan. 21, 1952 in Hamlin, N.Y., the daughter of Donald and Mary Bauer.

She spent nearly her entire life in upstate New York.

She had worked as a police officer and later as a radio dispatcher in the Rochester area for many years.

She married Jerry Ramsey in April, 2003 in Las Vegas and they moved to Marsing, ID, for a short time before settling in the Colville area.

Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her husband, Jerry Ramsey, Colville; three sons: Aaron Bauch, Hamlin, N.Y.; Jason Wright, Bedford, TX; Jeremy Wright, Hamlin, N.Y.; her sister, Doreen Schoekler, Canadaqua, N.Y.; her brothers, Jim Bauer, Warsaw, N.Y. and Donnie Bauer, Spenceport, N.Y.; her parents, Donald and Mary Bauer, Hamlin.

Memorial service for Linda Ramsey will be held in New York State at a later date.

The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.

Willie Clowser

Willie Hurst Clowser, a 25-year resident of northeast Washington, passed away Dec. 7, 2004 at the age of 97 in Colville.

A memorial service for Mr. Clowser will be held at a later date.

Mr. Clowser was born on March 14, 1907 in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of John and Goldie Hunt Clowser.

His life occupation was buying and remodeling over 100 homes.

He is survived by one son, Barney and his wife Wilma; one daughter, Goldie Sandifer, Nampa, Idaho; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie, Spokane; and one sister, Jackie Hansel, Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 9 3/4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma of 67 years; one son, Jack; one daughter, Nadine, and one grandson, Ray; along with a brother and sister.

The Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Farnsworth

Memorial service for Marjorie Farnsworth will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2004, 1 p.m., at the Free Methodist Church in Chewelah (203 N. Second).

Dale Villers

Dale A. Villers, a 71-year resident of Colville, passed away July 13, 2004 in Colville, at the age of 87.

Mr. Villers was born on June 22, 1917, in Sedgewick, Colorado, the son of Albert and Margaret (Penwell) Villers.

When he was five years old, the family moved to Mountain Grove, MO.

In 1933, at the age of 16, he moved to Colville with his family.

Mr. Villers served with the U.S. Army Infantry in the Pacific during World War II, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After being honorably discharged, Mr. Villers returned to Colville and worked for the City of Colville.

He married Donna Watt on Feb. 27, 1947, in Colville.

Mr. Villers later worked for Draper Lumber Company as an edgerman, and for the Erickson Lumber Company as a millwright.

He spent the last 23 years of his working life at Colmac Industries as a sheet metal man, retiring at the age of 66.

Mr. Villers hobbies included woodworking, bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, golf, watching baseball, gardening, and going for rides.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Villers, at the home; two daughters, Sharon Pifer and husband, Bill, Colville; Janet Parker and husband, John, Ritzville; one son, Jerry Villers and wife, Carol, Colville; two grandsons, Jason Villers and wife, Portia, Pendleton, OR; Brandon Pifer, Colville; two great-grandsons, Hayden and Trenton Villers; one sister, Pauline Lefler, Sweet Home, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Merrill Villers and Buck Villers, and by sisters, Ruth Villers, Hazel Leach, and Madge McCarthy.

Graveside service for Dale A. Villers was held July 16, at the Mountain View Park cemetery in Colville, with Reverend Paul Walker officiating.

The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
