Lenora Ruth Whyte
April 13, 1944 - December 1, 2009
Lenora Ruth Whyte, 65, passed away unexpectedly in Spokane, Washington on December 1, 2009. She was the second of four children born to Thomas and Thelma (Condit) Simms on April 13, 1944. Lenora grew up in Salinas and Pacific Grove, California, before moving to Placerville where she graduated from high school in 1962.
While visiting her brother Paul at Ft. Lewis during Labor Day weekend of 1966, she was introduced to David Whyte who was also stationed there. Lenora’s parents loved the area and soon decided to move their family to Auburn, Washington. Lenora attended Green River College, where she earned an Associates Degree as an Occupational Therapist. After college, Lenora went to work as an Activity Director in a local nursing home in Enumclaw for several years. She found that she loved working with the elderly.
While attending a friends wedding during the summer of 1981, she and David reconnected after being introduced several years earlier in Ft. Lewis. Lenora and David always had a loving connection and were able to finally unite in marriage on November 14, 1981. They began their marriage in the Ravensdale and Buckley, Washington area before moving to Grass Valley, CA in 1983. They spent 10 years building a home and raising Nubian goats. In 1993, they found themselves wanting to move back to the Northwest. Through a friend, they found the Valley View Ranch just north of Colville, where they could again raise Nubian goats. Lenora loved her goats, nurturing and surrounding them with love. Lenora had a very soft and gentle way with the Nubians, they were her babies.
Lenora’s love for her goats being greatly exceeded by her love for God and His Son Jesus The Christ, was evident to all who knew her. Ever present in her thoughts and actions was her passion to be all the God of all Heaven and earth put forth in His written Word for all humanity to be.
